Chapter 2.1 | Locating Them (Part 1)

𝐉𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐏.𝐎.𝐕

"What happened?" Jax questions as I drive down the highway, the sirens blaring into the night. Fuck, how did he manage to get past us, we had everything covered but there had to be somewhere we were fucking blind.

"Charlotte just called me and said Oli just showed up at her door by himself and Victoria was taken," I snap as I go around a truck. "That fucking piece of shit got her."

"They couldn't have gotten far away," he reasons. "I'd guess they have a thirty-minute headstart at least.."

"I get that, the rational part of me gets that but I don't know what he wants with her. Victoria knows nothing and Felix couldn't find anything. I don't want a repeat of last year and she's already had enough accidents for her lifetime and her body is still healing," my hands clench around the wheel as I press on the gas, the exit coming up insight.

"We'll find her," he tells me as his phone rings and he picks it up. "Felix, did you find anything? Wait, are you fucking serious. Jason, you need to hear this."

"Jason, you're nephew is a fucking genius. He told us that when Eiichi was at your house he was apparently interested in her tattoo and the kid remembered everything on it and let me tell you, this guy is insane," he rants. I hear voices in the background before a different voice goes on the line.

"Jason, sorry about that, this dumbass is such an idiot but he managed to translate Victoria's tattoos. Turns out they're coordinates and because he's in the yakuza they're most likely," Natalia's voice trails off.

"Secret bases of sorts," I conclude. "Where's the closest one? We're less than ten minutes away from reaching you guys."

"The closest one is in Quebec though it's in the forest and it's a pretty big area. We have the general area," she answers. "The other places are in Denver, England, Chile, and Japan. There's a high chance they're going to the one in Quebec first."

"There's no fucking way they're driving all the way there, it would take hours and they have a time limit so no one can find her. Safest bet they're taking a helicopter, I wouldn't be surprised if that bastard had one," I tell her as I turn off the sirens as I turn down the street to Charlotte's house.

"Nash is already arranging a copter for us so don't worry about that," she tells me. I stop the car behind Natalia's and kill the engine, jumping up as I run towards the door. Victoria might have been kidnapped but there's one other precious person I need to make sure is okay. I open the door walking inside and my gaze falls onto Oli and Wren watching a cartoon show together.

They both turn around at the sound of my footsteps and as soon as Oli sees me he's up and running. I fall onto my knees as I hold onto him and I feel his body shaking as he cries; a couple of tears escape from my eyes too. I don't know what I would do if something happened to him, my only nephew and the one person connected to my sister. I pull back, both of my hands on his cheeks as I look at him before moving to kiss his forehead and hug him again.

"I'm so happy you're okay," I whisper.

"Uncle, uncle, they took Tori," he cries.

"I know, I know and we're going to find her. You did a good job of writing what you remembered, I'm so proud of you," I tell him as I move to look him in the eyes. "Oli, I need you to listen to me carefully. I have to go, I'm going to look for Victoria so you'll be staying here with Charlotte, Wren and the twins, okay?"

"Promise you come back," he says holding up his pinky.

"I promise, why don't you two get going to bed, I think you should still have clothes here," I say as I stand up and look at Charlotte who's nodding her head.

"Wren, you two go up, I'll come to tuck you both in a bit," she tells them. Both boys nod their heads and Oli gives me one more hug before following Wren upstairs.

"Where's the rest of them?" I ask her.

"Kitchen," she replies as she wakes over to Jax. I go past them and find Felix in front of his computers, Nash on the phone, and Natalia with a baby?

"Why do you have a baby in your arms?" I ask her as I go towards Felix.

"They were both hungry and I told Charlotte I could help her," she says as she continues feeding one of the twins.

"I won't even say anything," I say shaking my head. "Show me the area you think they're most likely hiding," I instruct Felix.

"This is the area," he says pointing to a big patch of green. "We'll most likely have to do a lot of footwork but also have a helicopter over the area."

"I got in contact with authorities in Quebec and told them the situation and that we're going to be coming there," Nash tells me as he pockets his phone. "And we have a helicopter ready to go."

"Okay, we leave now. We'll stop at the precinct first and then we'll go," I tell the three of them. "Our window is closing faster by the minute. If they manage to leave the country, it'll be harder finding them."

"We'll find her Jason, who do you think you're talking too?" Natalia asks as she moves to burp the kid.

"A woman with a baby in her arms," I say sarcastically and she breaks out into a grin. The three of them are the best of the best at our station so I know I can trust them on this.

"Jason, I'm coming with you too," Jax voices from behind me.

"Wait, you're not assigned to this and-" I'm cut off with a sharp glare from Charlotte.

"Jason, you better stop right there. We're family and you know family does anything for one another. Last year you were one of the first people to save me, let us help you save the woman you love," she tells me in a determined voice. I look at them before sighing, I already know they won't budge from this fine.

"Fine, you can come," I tell Jax. "And I never said I loved her." Fuck, I haven't even told her yet why do I need to hear it from them.

"Yes you do," Charlotte and Natalia say simultaneously, both turn to look at each other before turning to me with wide smirks.

"I've only met her recently but it's so obvious, Chief," Natalia teases.

"We women have a strong intuition, plus I'm your best friend, I can read you like a book," Charlotte chuckles.

"Whatever, we need to get going. My love life isn't important right now, we still have a missing person to find," I say as I walk past them. I ignore the comment from Charlotte when I hear say, yeah, your girlfriend. I wait at the door for all four of them to walk out. Natalia driving Felix and Nash to the precinct, Jax and I following them. I wait for Jax to finish with Charlotte before handing him my keys to my car.

"Be careful out there, all of you. I know you'll find her and Oli will be fine here," she says with a calm smile as she holds onto the twins. I quickly put my arms around her hugging her while being mindful of her kids.

"Thanks, we'll see you soon," I tell her before walking over to my car.

"We'll find her Jason and then you can kick that fuckers ass; so for now try not to crash the fucking car while you drive to the station," Jax's voice breaks the silence. My grip on the steering wheel loosens a bit as a dry chuckle escapes my lips.

"That would certainly slow us down wouldn't it," I reply in a deadpan voice. Wait until I get my hands on that piece of shit, he's going to wish he never met me.

"We've been going around the forest since we reached Quebec around two in the morning last night. We've been driving and walking for six hours in the night only stopping to switch with other Quebec police officers so we could go into town and eat and get some rest. Now it's nightfall again and it feels like the minutes are passing by fast.

"Officer Jason, come in," a voice comes through my walkie.

"What is it? Did you find anything?" I question.

"We found what looks to be an abandoned cabin and fresh tire tracks in the snow," the other officer on the line answers.

"Which direction is it?" I demand. He rattles off some numbers and Felix pulls up their location on his computer.

"Okay, keep driving straight and then I'll tell you where to turn," he tells me. "It's not far from where we are." I drive straight for a couple of minutes before making a right turn into a denser part of the forest. We see the lights of the other police cruisers and officers walking into the cabin, guns in their hands. An officer waves his hands to us and I stop in front of him rolling down the window.

"It looks like they might have left just ten minutes before we reached here going in that direction. You five go pursue them and we'll start clearing out here. The victim is most likely injured, we found blood on the snow," he tells me. I feel my blood boiling when I hear he's most likely injured Victoria. I roll back up my window before driving in the direction the officer pointed to. We haven't gone more than five feet when gunshots echo in the quiet forest. I hear the other four pulling out their guns clicking them in place, we don't know who just used it.

"Jason, right there," Natalia says pointing in front of us, a bright light from above, helicopter, shining over a group of people. I slow down and we see four people lying in the snow dead and one man standing a couple of feet away, a gun in his hand.

"Jax," I bark once I see Victoria isn't one of the victims.

"On it," he replies as he jumps out and runs after the suspect.

"Jason, the tire tracks are going in that direction," Natalia says pointing to the left of us. I put the car in drive making a sharp left and this time press my foot hard on the gas. They're right here, both Eiichi and Victoria, so close and in reach. A couple of seconds pass when a car finally comes into view.

"Shoot at the tire," I instruct Natalia and Nash. Just as they're rolling down their windows we see two bodies jump out of the car while the car itself drives straight off the small cliff we're on into the lake. I press hard on the brakes, the force from the stop makes the belts around us dig into our bodies.

"What the fuck!" Natalia yells from beside me.

"Nash, go after those two, do not let them get away," I yell as I open my door and start running to the lake and I see Natalia a step beside me, her face set in grim determination. We don't have a lot of time to stay underwater, the cold water has a high chance of putting us into shock and with the darkness, we don't have any equipment to see. The two of us simultaneously dive into the water and it's sheer will at this point to move in the cold water.

I feel the water moving beside me, Natalia swimming alongside me and we go deeper into the water and we see a light. Fuck, one of the fucking lights from the car is still on and working. I power my body to move faster as the car continues to sink. We reach the car, the door wide open and the two of us make quick work of pulling Victoria out. I hold onto one side of her as Natalia holds onto her other side and we swim back to the surface.

We break out of the water, both of us gasping and I look down to see Victoria in our arms, not breathing. We hear voices call out to us and we're herded out of the water, police blankets wrapped around us. I watch an officer lower Victoria to the floor, a knife cutting through the binds on her hands as another starts CPR. I feel Natalia grab onto my hand, her lips blue from the cold and face betraying no emotion. We watch in silence as they continue to press on her chest, her face looking like she's at peace.

"She's coughing out the water," the officer shouts and quickly turns her over, her body convulses as she throws up the water she took in. When she finishes they put her on her back and her eyes are slightly open as she looks in our direction. I don't know if she can see us properly but she gives us a small smile before passing out.

"The EMT's are here, let's get the three of them loaded," a voice calls out. Three of us? I feel a heavyweight press against me and I turn my head as Natalia hunches over, I know she's passed out from the shock of the cold water. I see a body move towards us and crouch down in front of her.

"I'm going to take her to one of the ambulances Chief," Nash tells me as he picks her up holding her close to his body. I pretend I don't see him kiss her forehead before walking away. A pair of hands help me stand from the ground and I know I'm in no better condition than Natalia, with the way black spots start to cloud my vision and soon everything turns dark.

A/N I know a lot of you wanted to see this, and I wanted to write this so bad but as you can see, I had to split it into two parts. Originally I was going to do four chapters but right now while I was writing this last minute I decided I'd split this into two (otherwise I'd have a six-thousand-word chapter)

Anyways, be sure to leave your thoughts on the chapter in the comments. Part 2 will be coming out soon!
