Chapter Twenty-Three
MIKAELSON COMPOUND
The next day, Ana is with Klaus in the courtyard. She has told him everything that she and Christy talked about.
"So, you're saying that Christy is trapped in a Sphinx building out in the open desert by herself?" Klaus said, bitterly.
"The door was closing. Christy and I both would've been trapped if she hadn't gotten me out." Ana told Klaus.
"Is there a way out of the Sphinx?" Klaus asked, folding his arms.
"Christy and I don't know. She and I just found it yesterday evening. Christy had glimpses of the Sphinx and the ancient tablet." Ana told Klaus.
Klaus's phone buzzes in his jeans pocket. He pulls out his phone and looks at it.
Video Chat: Christy
Klaus answers the video chat and Christy pops up on the phone screen.
"Klaus?" Christy said video chat.
"Christiana? Are you alright?" Klaus asked, worried.
"Yeah, I'm fine. There's barely a phone signal around here." Christy told him. "Where's Ana?"
"I'm right here, Christy." Ana told her.
"Klaus? Ana? I need you guys to do a small favor. I need you guys to solve the cuneiform riddle on the ancient tablet." Christy told them on the video chat.
"Alright. Just stay on the video chat." Ana said.

In the study, Klaus and Ana are sitting on the sofa with Christy's iBook g3 laptop on the coffee table.
"Okay, Christy downloaded a cuneiform translator." Klaus said, and types the cuneiform on the translator.
" 'What is always old and sometimes new; never sad, sometimes blue; never empty, but sometimes full; never pushes, always pulls?' " Ana read the cuneiform translator. And looks at Klaus's video chat. "Christy?"
"I'm here." Christy said on the video chat.
"The answer to the riddle is "Moon". Klaus said.
The cuneiform symbols on the ancient tablet glows orange.
"Umm, Christy, the cuneiform symbols is glowing." Klaus said.
"The cuneiform riddle's answer is correct." Christy said on the video chat.
"What do we do with the ancient tablet, Chris?" Klaus asked.
"Bring it here and place it on the door." Christy said on the video chat. And Klaus's phone statics. "Klaus? Can you... can you hear me?"
"Christy? We're losing you." Klaus said on the video chat.
"My phone sigil is weak. I have to save my battery." Christy said on the video chat.
"We're coming." Klaus said, and hangs up his phone.

ON THE OPEN DESERT ROAD
Later on that day, Klaus and Ana are driving his SUV car, wearing their seatbelts. Ana has the ancient tablet in her lap.
"Christy is brave." Ana said to Klaus. "She's willing to put others before herself."
"Yeah, she is." Klaus agreed.
Ana sees the Sphinx up head on the left side. "Klaus, there it is. The Sphinx."
Klaus drives off the road and onto the desert sand. He drives up to the Sphinx building and parks. Both Klaus and Ana gets out of his SUV.
Klaus and Ana vamp-sped up to the door and she gently puts the ancient tablet on the door. The ancient tablet itself glows orange, and the door opens.
Klaus and Ana both runs inside, and scurries further down the dimmed hallway.
"Christy?" Ana called her to her best friend.
"Christiana?" Klaus said.
"Klaus? Ana?" Christy said from inside another room.
Klaus and Ana walks inside the room where Christy is. The three of them exchange looks at each other.
"Guys?" Christy said.
"Let's get the bloody hell out of here." Klaus said to Christy.
Klaus, Christy and Ana runs away, walking out of the Sphinx building.

ON THE OPEN DESERT ROAD
Klaus, Ana and Christy are driving in his SUV. He's driving, Ana is sitting in the passenger's seat, and Christy is sitting in the middle of the backseat.
"What was in the Sphinx building?" Ana asked Christy.
"A big hole." Christy told her.
"You're kidding?" Klaus asked.
"No, I'm not. There's a big empty hole. And I really don't wanna know what's in it." Christy told her husband. "By the way, where's Luna and Trinity?"
"At home. They even made breakfast for you." Klaus told her.
Christy small smiles to herself. "Our sweethearts."
Klaus small smiles to himself. "Yeah, they are."

That afternoon, in Klaus's and Christy's bedroom, Christy, Luna and Trinity are sharing a tray of breakfast food, sitting on the bed, crossed-legged position.
A plate of mini blueberry pancakes, and a plastic bowl of strawberries and blueberries.
"So, there's a Sphinx building out in the open road desert?" Luna asked, eating a strawberry.
"Yeah, but there's something more to it, I think." Christy said.
"Oh, okay." Trinity said.
"Have you two had hot apple cider?" Christy asked her daughters.
"Hmm? Not really no." Luna said, and small smiles to herself. "Why?"
"The three of us can have hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks." Christy said.
"Okay." Trinity said.
"Where's Meek Meerkat?" Christy asked.
"In his popsicle house. Luna and I made him a popsicle house for him to play in." Trinity said.
"Aww, that's so sweet. I'm sure Meek loves it." Christy said.
"Yeah, he does. He even sleeps in it. And the popsicle house is on my computer desk." Luna said.
"And by the way, I have a surprise for you both." Christy said, gets up from the bed and walks over to her dresser, opening the second drawer, revealing a golden hieroglyphs and cuneiform textbook.
Christy walks back to her daughters and sits down in between her daughters on her bed.
"What's with the golden book, Mom?" Luna asked her.
"I asked the Elder God of Knowledge, Tithonus, to create a textbook with hieroglyphs and cuneiforms and he did." Christy said to her daughters.
"We've studied both ancient Orasani hieroglyphs and cuneiforms and knows how to read this." Luna said.
"Thanks, Mom." Trinity thanked her.
"You're welcome." Christy said.
Luna pecks a kiss on Christy's left cheek. And Trinity pecks a kiss on Christy's right cheek.
"Love you, Mom." Luna and Trinity said in unison.
"Love you too, sweethearts." Christy said to her daughters.

"I just wanted to check on you." Christy said to Ana with a small smile, sitting in the armchair.
"I'm fine." Ana said, and looks at Christy, worriedly. "But the next time, you think about risking your life for me, just don't."
"Ana?" Christy said.
"I don't want you risking your life for me, okay? I mean, I get it, you have a big heart." Ana said.
"Love you too." Christy said to her Ana.
Ana and Christy exchange small smiles at each other.

That night, in Klaus's and Christy's bedroom, Klaus is painting on his canvas, which is on a canvas easel.
Christy is sitting on the edge of the bed, gently pulls off her ankle boots, wearing socks. "You know the thing about walking, is that your feet needs to relax."
Klaus chuckles to himself. "So, do you wanna talk about it?"
"Talk about what?" Christy asked, gently sitting on the bed, cross-legged position.
"You're grounded from the battle fights and the mission tasks." Klaus said to her.
"Yeah, I have." Christy said, a bit glum.
And Klaus notices the glumness in his wife's, Christy's, voice. "You don't seem happy about it."
"I admit, I was a little upset, but I'm okay." Christy said to him.
Klaus gently sets down his painting can on the table and gently leans backwards on the table.
"Have you had a chocolate croissant?" Klaus asked.
"Nope. I have many croissants at Hagarth's Pub, but a chocolate croissant is sounds good." Christy said to him.
Klaus and Christy exchange small smiles at each other.
