HOOK MAN [PART TWO]
___
"Goodbye, preacher."
โ
"You're so dramatic"
โข โข โข
Juliet sighs as her and Dean sit at the interrogation table, the Sherrif sitting opposite them. She tucks a strand of her unruly hair behind her ear as she eyes the cop, who is already looking at them with an unimpressed expression on his face.
"This is serious, a murderer is on the loose and you guys are found at the place of the crime with guns and rope."
Dean groans, "Look, I told you, we were fooling the guy. It was a prank, it's not our fault he's an idiot and bought it."
The Sherrif sighs as he rubs his hand down his weary and aged face, "And the kid?"
Dean and Juliet share a look before the former of the two turns to the Sherrif, "She's our kid." That causes the Sheriff to raise an eyebrow as he eyes the two. "You guys are a bit too young to have a kid, aren't ya?"
Juliet rolls her eyes, "Look, you can't actually hold us. The guns weren't even loaded with bullets, like he said, it was a prank. We told the guy that '9 Mile Road' is haunted and that salt is a spirit repellent, that's why the guns were loaded with rock salt. We didn't shoot anybody or do anything wrong. So, we can all sit here while you judge us on our choices or you can let us go? Your choice." She watches as the Sherrif eyes them once more before letting out a drawn out sigh, "You can go, but not that easily. I'm charging you, I don't care if it was a prank."
Juliet refrains from huffing like a child, she opts to just smile and nod her head instead as he tells them how much the fine is. Juliet pulls out her wallet and pays the Sheriff the amount owed before getting up and walking out.
โข โข โข
Dean and Juliet walk out of the station alongside Sam, Harlow sits on her uncle's shoulders. The said man turns to his brother and best friend, the former of the two has a big smile on his face as he looks to his younger brother, "Saved your ass! Talked the Sherrif down to a fine. Dude, I am Matlock."
Juliet crosses her arms as she clears her throat, "Yeah, you're the real deal, hon."
Sam shakes his head, confused.
"But how?"
Dean pulls a face, "Told him you were a dumbass pledge and that we were hazing you."
Sam raises an eyebrow, "What about the gun?"
Juliet smiles at her best friend, "Don't worry your pretty little head about that. Told them that the gun was loaded with rock salt, and that you were hunting ghosts and salt repells spirits. Just your typical Hell week prank."
Sam doesn't look conviced, "And he believed you?"
The brown-haired huntress smirks, "I can be persuassive, Sammy." Dean smiles as he winks at her, "Hell yeah, you can," He looks back to his brother, "and you do look like a dumbass pledge." Sam sends Dean an impressed look as Harlow, sitting on top Sam's shoulders, looks down at her mother and father.
"Mommy, Daddy?"
The hunters looks up to their daughter as Juliet smiles, "Yeah, baby?"
"What dwos wumbass mean?"
Dean stiffles his laughter and nods his head at his girlfriend, "Well, Jules?" The said woman sends her boyfriend a glare before she smirks as a thought hits her, she looks back up to Harlow. "Your father."
Sam snorts a laugh as Dean pulls what she likes to call 'the poopface'.
Before Dean can reply with a sarcastic comment, the sounds of the station's door being slamed open gets all three hunter's attention. Juliet watches as the Sheriff followed by some officers run out of the building and into their vehicles.
Dean and Juliet share a look, both of them thinking the same thing.
'Something serious has happened.'
All three hunters, plus the Winchester child, pile into the car, following behind the cops.
โข โข โข
Dean drives by the Sorority building that Lori is apart of. The said girl sits in the back of an ambulance, a red blanket wrapped around her small and shaking frame. Juliet, who's sitting shotgun, raises an eyebrow at the spooked expression on the teenagers face, like she had just seen something awful.
The two hunters share a look as Dean drives down another street and parks the car there. They all get out the Impala, Juliet holding Harlow's hand to keep her from running off into oncoming cars.
Sam shakes his head as he looks around the area, "Why would the Hook Man come here? This is a long way from 9 Mile Road." Juliet shrugs her shoulders, "Maybe he's lookin' to buy a house, getting to know the neighbor's."
Sam and Dean shoot her unimpressed looks, to which she rolls her eyes at.
Dean shakes his head at his girlfriend before looking to his brother, "Maybe he's not haunting the scene of his crime. Maybe it's something else."
They make their way to the side of the building, Sam and Dean hold their breath as two sorority girls exit the building. Luckily, they don't stop the hunters or the child.
Dean has a cheeky smile as he motions to Sam while watching the sorority girls walk past.
"Dude, sorority girls. Think we'll see a naked pillow fight?"
Juliet huffs as she looks at Dean, "I'm not against hitting you over the head. Y'know that, right?"
Dean looks to Juliet, an innocent look on his face, "I never said you couldn't participate in the nakedness."
"...ow."
Juliet smirks as she pulls her hand back from where she hit Dean on the head, "That's what you get. You're forgetting that Harlow's here and lately, she likes to repeat things and ask loads of questions about those said things."
Dean winces and looks down to his daughter. He lets out a sigh of relief as Harlow isn't paying attention to what they're saying.
Dean and Juliet look up as they hear a sound coming from above them. They see Sam trying to climb up to the balcony.
Dean turns to Harlow, "Do you want me or Mommy to give you a piggy back?"
The little girl thinks hard about her answer to her father's question, she hums in thought before pointing to Juliet. "Mommy."
Juliet gives Dean a look as the said man puts on a mock expression of hurt, clutching his hand to his heart like he's just been wounded in battle. Juliet rolls her eyes jokingly, as she pats him on the shoulder. Dean instantly gets the message and starts climbing.
Juliet looks down to Harlow as she crouches down, "C'mon spider-girl, get on."
Harlow giggles as she climbs onto her mother's back. Juliet starts her way up the building to climb to the balcony, she looks up and smirks as she sees Dean's ass above her, she lets out a low wolf whistle, "Wow, babe. That ass is lookin' mighty fine." She smiles as she hears Dean quietly laugh.
The three hunters make it to the balcony window, Sam goes in first, immediately followed by Dean. Juliet shakes her head as she hears a thud followed by a groan.
"Oh, Sorry!"
"Be quiet."
"You be quiet!"
"You be quiet!"
Juliet sighs as she gracefully climbs into the window, even with Harlow on her back she can be stealthy. She looks down at the two brother's, Sam's on the floor with Dean laying on top of him. She shakes her head, knowing that the thud sound had of been Dean falling on top of Sam. She rolls her eyes as she sets her daughter on the ground.
"How about both of you be quiet? Just a thought."
โข โข โข
Juliet slows her breathing as her, Sam, Dean and Harlow stand in, what she assumes is, Lori's closet. Her brown opals move to Sam, who's peering through the closet door that he had opened slightly. The huntress moves in closer and crouches down as silently as possible and peers through the ajar door, she internally sighs as she and Sam watch as another Sherrif takes one more look around the room, his hands on his hips. Her and Sam wait until the Sherrif has walked out the bedroom door and down the stairs before walking out of the closet.
Juliet looks around the room and pulls a face at the blood soaked bed, must have belonged to Lori's roommate. Luckily, Harlow's too bust lookin' at all the stuffed animals on Lori's bed to notice the crime scene around her. Juliet knows that her daughter knows not to touch anything. She turns her eyes away from Harlow and her brown eyes widen slightly as she, along with Sam and Dean, spot writing on the wall. Well, it looks more like it's been scratched into the wall with a hook. Sam turns to both hunters, ""Aren't you glad you didn't turn on the light?" Juliet looks to Sam and Dean, she's read through the books and lore on the Hook Man. "I've read up on the legend and that," She points to the writing, "is straight out of it."
Dean nods his head, "Yeah, that's classic Hook Man all right."
Juliet watches as he taps his nose while looking to her and Sam, "It's definitely a spirit." The huntress nods her head, having noticed the smell as well. It's not a nice smell. Sam's noticed it, too. "Yeah, I've never smelled ozone this strong before."
Juliet nods her head as she eyes the wall, once more. She tilts her head as she notices something underneath the writing from the legend. She looks to Dean, who's walking towards the window. "Hey babe, check this out."
Hearing his girlfriend's voice causes Dean to pause before making his way over to her and wraps an arm around her waist as they and Sam look at what Juliet's seen. The said woman looks at the two brother's. "That look familiar to any of you?"
Below the writing lies a cross-like symbol, she didn't remember seeing that in the books, or maybe she did and she was just too tired to notice.
โข โข โข
Juliet sits on the bonnet of Baby, sunglasses over her eyes. Seems the Sun followed them on their trip. She wears a black thin-strapped tank top with her light blue denim ripped jeans with her boots. Her grey fleece is tied 'round her waist. She looks at the picture Sam is showing them, it's of the cross that they had found etched on the wall of the crime scene. Juliet's bet would be that he killed the vic after etching it on the wall. But then it raises the question, how did Hook Man etch that writing on the wall without waking Lori up? It has Juliet thinking that the college girl, could be tied in with it all.
Sam's voice brings her out of her reverie, "It's the same symbol. Seems like it is the spirit of Jacob Karns."
Dean sighs, "All right, let's find the dude's grave, salt and burn the bones, and put him down."
Juliet looks to the sky as she lets out a long, drawn out, sigh while rolling her eyes. Her sunglasses sits on the slope of her nose, she eyes Dean from over her shades. "I get the feelin' this isn't gonna be as easy as it sounds."
Dean shrugs his shoulders, "We'll see."
Sam looks between his brother and best friend before looking back to the book and reading aloud from a page. ""After execution, Jacob Karns was laid to rest in an Old North Cemetery. In an unmarked grave"."
All three hunters share an annoyed look at hearing that.
"Super."
Juliet gives Dean a knowing smirk at his words, her eyes shining with mirth.
"I told ya so."
Dean jokingly rolls his eyes and waves his hand at her comment.
"Yeah, yeah."
Sam shakes his head, "Ok. So, we know it's Jacob Karns. But we still don't know where he'll manifest next. Or why."
Juliet smiles at that, putting her hand into the back pocket of her jeans and pulling out a note that she found on the windscreen of the car, between the wipers. She waves it under Sam's nose, a knowing twinkle in her eyes as she looks at him.
"I can take a guess 'bout why, my dear friend," She hands him the note, "I think you're girlfriend Lori might have something to do with this." Sam rolls his eyes as he snatches the note from her hands, glowering at her.
"She's not my girlfriend."
She smiles, "Not yet."
Sam rolls his eyes as they all get into the car.
โข โข โข
Dean Juliet and Sam walk into the college party, they opted to leave Harlow in the car, the poor girl's fast asleep and she looked so peaceful that they didn't want to wake her up, and looking around at all the drunk party goes, Juliet is glad she stuck with that decision. She doesn't need Harlow to witness what's going on around her and she just knows the questions her daughter will ask.
She watches as Sam walks off, probably to go and ask questions. She can't picture her best friend joining the college parties, even when he was at college..it just seems like something he wouldn't do.
Her and Dean walk another way, she jokingly rolls her eyes at the smile on Dean's face at watching people get drunk and them sluggishly playing pool as well as beer pong around them. She shakes her head as she turns to her left, she raises an eyebrow at a couple making out in the corner. The huntress turns away and smiles as her mind takes her back to the time her and Dean went to their first party. She was only 16, and Dean and her hadn't been dating for very long. The huntress shakes her head as she remember how Dean and her had just gate crashed someone's party.
They had walked into the house and no one batted an eyelash, too drunk to even see straight.
They walked into the kitchen and just had at it with the alcohol. They had gotten so drunk that they ended up making out in the corner, of course it didn't go any further, Juliet had made sure of that.
Sure, she was full of hormones at that age but her and Dean had only been together for so many months. Luckily, Dean understood and respected her decision. Thinking back on it, he must have really loved her. She knew that Dean was a randy teenager. He's Dean Winchester, it's what he was once known for before her, obviously, but he was different with her, and still is.
Of course, they had rough patches, which couples don't, but they made it through, stuck together through it all and she's lucky to have him.
Juliet feels a hand on her shoulder and shakes her head, bringing herself out from her memories. Her eyes meet Dean and she smiles at him, her brown eyes shining like stars as the lights reflect in her brown opals. Dean's can't help but find her beautiful. He smiles as he cups her cheek, his thumb brushing against her soft and supple skin.
"You looked deep in thought."
The corners of her mouth lift into a small smile as she gently moves her hand up his arm, not stopping until her arm is wound around his neck, bringing him closer as her fingers thread through his soft hair.
"I was just thinkin' about the time we gate crashed some teens party. It was a good time."
Dean chuckles as he shakes his head, "We were very rebelious teens."
Juliet nods her head, not disagreeing with him.
"That we were." She laughs, "Remember when John found out? I never saw him so angry until that point. I thought he was gonna have our heads."
Dean idly brushes his fingers through her hair, his eyes glazed as he remembers John's reaction to them coming back to the motel room, both drunk out of their minds. He hadn't been happy, that much was clear. His Dad had gone off on some tangent, saying how they're hunters, they can't go out partying when they should be more responsible and be looking out for Sam.
Juliet had rolled her eyes, and answered back. She was quite mouthy back then, and still is but not towards John. She had raised his voice at him, yelling at him about how they're teenagers and just wanted to be normal for a change, have a normal night, partying like most people their age do. She also told him how he should be the more responisble one and how he's the parent to Sam, not them.
The fury on John's face just darkened. He knew that his Dad wasn't against raising a hand, so he had quickly intervened and apoligized, saying that it won't happen again, before ushering her away. Well, they were more like stumbling away.
Dean shakes himself from his thoughts and looks at Juliet before planting a kiss on her lips, winding his arms around her waist as she sets her hands on his shoulders. They smile as they break away from the kiss, Dean bumping his nose with hers.
Sam, clearing his throat, brings them out of their little bubble.
Dean and Juliet turn to him, the former of the two giving him a look while him and Juliet walk to him. As soon as they are in reaching distance, Dean gently hits him on the arm. "Man, you've been holding out on us. This college thing is awesome!" Juliet blushes as he winks at her.
Sam shakes his head at the two, he remembers when him and Juliet had snuck out to a party one night, he also remembers how mad John was, too but he had smiled that night when he heard Juliet stand up for herself, albiet she was yelling but nevertheless, she stuck up for herself. He looks to his brother, "This wasn't really my experience." Juliet can't help but giggle as Sam looks around at all the people, an uncomfortable expression on his face.
Dean rolls his eyes in jest at his brother, "Let me guess. Libraries, studying, straight A's?" Dean smiles with mirth as Sam nods his head, he knows his little brother well. "What a geek." He looks down to the paper Sam is holding and motions to it, "Alright, you do your homework?"
Sam, unsurprisingly, nods his head, "Yeah. It was bugging me, right? So how is the Hook Man tied up with Lori?โ" He looks to Juliet, having seen her about to open her mouth. "โshut up." She instantly closes it, about to make a remark about Lori being his girlfriend. Sam goes back to what he was saying, "Anyway, so I think I came up with something."
He unravels the piece of paper and shows it to Dean and Juliet, the former of the two reads aloud what's written on the page.
"1932. Clergyman arrested for murder."
Juliet reads aloud from the next line down in the list.
"1967. Seminarian held in hippine rampage."
Juliet raises an eyebrow, seeing the pattern, immediately. Sam looks to his best friend and brother. "There's a pattern here. In both cases, the suspect was a man of religion who openly preached against immorality. And then found himself wanted for killings he claimed were the work of an invisble force. Killings carried outโget thisโwith a sharp instrument."
Dean furrows his eyebrows, a little confused. "What's the connection to Lori?" Juliet loops her arm through Dean's, shaking her head at his cluelessness, finding it endearing. "C'mon, babe. A man of religion? Who also openly preaches against immorality?" She smiles as a look of understanding washes over Dean's face. She turns back to Sam and gives him a look. "Sammy, are you sure? If you ask me this seems a little bit too easy. Like, it's the obvious answer and I've worked many cases to know that the obvious answer isn't always the right answer."
Sam shakes his head, "What else could it be, Jules?" He continues with his theory, having seen Dean's look of understanding, his brother is finally on the same page he is. "Except maybe this time, instead of trying to save the whole town, he's just trying to save his only daughter."
Dean raises an eyebrow, "Reverend Sorenson. You think he's summoning the spirit?" He watches as Sam shrugs his shoulders, "Maybe. Or, you know how a poltergeist can haunt a person instead of a place?"
Dean nods his head, "Yeah, the spirit latches onto the reverned's repressed emotions, feeds off them, yeah, okay."
Sam lifts and drops his head, nodding. "Without the reverend ever even knowing it."
Juliet gives both brother's a skeptical look, "I'm not saying it isn't a good theoryโ" Dean gives a look, knowing what's coming next, "But?" He watches as Juliet sighs, "โbut I don't think it's the right one. Spirits can also latch themselves onto objects, it doesn't have to be the body that keeps them in limbo, it can be a flask, a necklace. Maybe even a ring."
The brother's share a look.
Dean looks at Juliet before turning to Sam and shrugging his shoulders.
"Either way, you should keep an eye on Lori tonight."
Sam raises an eyerbrow, "What about you guys?"
Dean looks to Juliet, smiling at her while grabbing her hand.
"We're gonna go see if we can find that unmarked grave."
Juliet smiles as she pats Sam on the shoulder, "C'mon, Sammy. We can drop you off at your girlfriend's on the way."
Sam sighs as he looks to the heavens, "For the last time, she's not my girlfriend."
Juliet just giggles as she walks out with Dean. She looks at Sam from over her shoulder, "My little stalker, you."
Sam rolls his eyes as he follows behind them.
โข โข โข
Dean parks the Impala outside the cemetery where Hook Man is supposedly buried in an unmarked grave.
Dean cuts the engine and turns to Juliet who's riding shotgun.
"You ready?"
Juliet nods her head, looking to Harlow in the rearview mirror. Their daughter is still sleeping in the back. She's so much like her father when she sleeps, dead to the world. Not even the squeak of the Impala door had woken her. She can't blame her daughter, she's had quite a tiring few weeks. She was held captive by a shifter and had been knocked about by the said shifter, too. They're just glad that the monster didn't manage to change her views on her father. If he had done, it would've broken Juliet's heart.
The huntress looks back to Dean, "Think she will be alright?" Her boyfriend turns his head to their daughter, smiling at her little snores as her chest rises and falls with every breath. Dean turns back to Juliet, "She'll be fine. I'll lock the car doors."
Juliet bites her lip before nodding her head, "Okay."
With that, the two hunters get out of the car, Dean locking the car doors behind him. The two move to the trunk of the Impala, Dean opens it and grabs his bag that holds two shovels inside and grabs two flashlights, he puts the bag on his shoulder as he shuts the trunk and locks it. Dean turns to Juliet and passes her one of the flashlights, she takes it with a smile.
The two make their way into the cemetery.
Juliet points her flashlight at the graves, making sure that the information wasn't correct and he had been buried in a marked grave, instead but none of them had his name on them. She looks to Dean, "Well, I couldn't think of a more romantic way to spend our evening." She smiles as that manages to get a chuckle out of him.
"I've been meaning to ask, what was that look in the library about?"
Juliet, feigning innocence, looks away as she a dusty pink appears on her cheeks.
"I have no idea what you're talkin' about."
Dean smiles, seeing the blush on her face. He can't help but adore the texan twang in her voice, he shakes his head with a smirk. "I think you know exactly what I'm talkin' about." Dean bumps his shoulder with her's, "C'mom, Jules, You can tell me."
The huntress sighs as she looks to him, a lump in her throat, "I was just thinkin' 'bout how we haven't been very intimate with each other lately."
Dean's smirk widens, "Oh?"
The blush on Juliet's face darkens, "I mean, I miss it. I miss you and your touch and ugh, just everything about you, Dean."
The said man laughs, "Wow, babe. I had no idea I made you swoon like that."
The brunette raises an eyebrow, confusion swimming in her eyes.
"Like what?"
Dean smiles, "Like the way you make me swoon."
Juliet sighs and jokingly pushes him away at his cornyness, "Don't tease me, Dean." Her words cause Dean to laugh before wrapping an arm around her waist and bringing her closer to him. He places a kiss on the side of her head, "You're right, I'm sorry." Juliet sighs as she leans into his touch. "I was also thinkin' that maybe Harlow stays with Sam tonight in a separate room, meaning we get the night to ourselves."
Dean swallows the lump in his throat as he looks down to Juliet's lips, he inhales a deep breath before replying. "I'm sure I can speak to Sam and we can arrange that. To be honest, I've missed you, too."
Juliet smiles at that before both of them stop, coming across the thing they've been looking for. The preacher's unmarked grave. Dean and Juliet shine their flashlights on the raised ground, smiles on their faces. Juliet shines her torch on the headstone, noticing that there's no writing to be seen, but there is a symbol. A cross symbol, exactly like the one that was etched into Lori's dormroom wall.
Dean looks at Juliet before turning back to look at the headstone,
"Here we go."
He sets the bag down and opens it, pulling out two shovels. Dean hands one over to Juliet before the two start to dig.
โข โข โข
Sam sighs as he sits on the wall outside Lori's house, he looks into the window and sees the said teen and her Dad arguing. He sighs as he shakes his head, his memory taking him back to his childhood, well, teenage years, where him and his Dad just butted heads all the time.
Sam just wanted a normal life, that was it but his Dad wouldn't have it and they would clash about it, to the point where it go too much and he had no choice but to leave. He's not gonna lie and say that it was easy, because it wasn't. He hated the thought of leaving Dean and Juliet behind, not to mention Harlow, too. He was just so sick of the hunting life and wanted out, he wanted to settle down, have a family, be a better Dad than his father was.
In hindsight, he should've known better. No one stays out of the hunting life and when Dean and Juliet had broke into his flat that night, which seems so long ago, he knew he would be back in the hunting game. He doesn't regret it, helping his family. He wants to find his Dad as much as Dean and Juliet, but Jessica's death still hurts, it's still raw and fresh in his mind.
Heck, he was gonna propose to her, settle down with her. To him, she was the one, but life doesn't turn out the way you expect it to. And once they find his Dad, they'll find the thing that killed her, the thing that killed his mom.
And frankly, he can't wait to put a bullet in its head.
He shakes his head from his thoughts, the sound of a door opening and closing getting his attention. He looks up and sees Lori walking toward him, a cardigan wrapped tightly around her frame, doing little to keep her from the chill in the air.
He smiles.
โข โข โข
Dean swipes at his forehead, his face and hands caked with dirt. He decided to forgo his black jacket, leaving him in his white undershirt. Juliet stands next to him, both sigh as they stand in the hole they've dug.
Dean turns to Juliet, "So about tonight?"
Juliet laughs, "I love you, but I don't think talking about sex while digging up a grave sets the right mood, hon."
Dean sighs, "Yeah, you're probably right."
The two get back to digging, they've only made it about, halfway, there's still a bit more dirt to dig. If you think digging a grave is easy, you're very mistaken. They just make it look easy.
Juliet grunts as she throws the dirt over her shoulder, her face and chest is shinning with sweat, It's a good thing she decided to wear her black tanktop. Her fleece and Dean's overshirt are left in a pile by the shovel bag.
"I wonder how Sam's gettin' on?"
Dean shrugs his shoulders, "Dunno, but next time, we get to watch over the house while he digs up a grave."
Juliet rolls her eyes, "Quit whinning you big baby."
Just as she says that, her shovel hits something solid. Dean's does too. The two hunters share a look with one another, the latter of the two smirking as he eyes the wooden coffin. Him and Juliet slam their shovels down, breaking the wood and revealing the Hook Man's skeletal body.
Dean smirk widens.
"Hello, Preacher."
โข โข โข
Lori returns Sam's smile with one of her own as she perches herself on the wall next to him, a sweet smile on her face.
"I saw you from upstairs. What are you doing here?"
Sam exhales a breath as he turns and looks at Lori, he can't help but feel drawn to her, especially when looking into her blue hues which are her eyes. It's like looking into a pool of diamonds with the sunlight reflecting on them. He shakes his head from his thoughts, "I'm keeping an eye on the place. I was worried."
Lori furrows her eyebrows, "About me?"
Sam takes a breath, "Yeah. Sorry."
Lori shakes her head, "No, it's cool," her smile changes to a smirk, "I already called the cops." Sam laughs and Lori can't help but wanting to hear it for the rest of her life, it's like the sound of bells, deep but not too deep, just perfect. She smiles at the sound. "No, seriously. I think you're sweet. Which is probably why you should run away from me as fast as you can."
Sam frowns, detecting the sad tone in her voice.
"Why would you say that?"
Lori lets out a humorless chuckle as tears start to brim her eyes, "It's like I'm cursed or something. People around me keep dying."
Sam huffs, he could say exactly the same thing. I mean, his Mom and then Jess. Sometimes he feels the same, that he's the cause of his Mom and girlfriend's death. But as Juliet once told him, focus more on the future than the past and always keep your head held high, even if it feels like you can't. He sniffs as he thinks back to his childhood, her and Dean have always looked out for him, been more like parents to him than his actual parent. In some ways, he thinks, they're more like a Mom and Dad to him, in more ways than one. He turns back to Lori, "I think I know how you feel."
Lori raises an eyebrow, hearing the sincerity in his voice. Her eyes soften as she stares into his dark green eyes, they're like the color of trees and she would gladly let herself get lost in them.
She smiles.
โข โข โข
Juliet groans as she takes Dean's hand and let's him help haul her out of the grave. She sighs as her and Dean look down at the body that's just bones. She reaches down and grabs the salt and light fluid and starts pouring both onto the Preacher's bones.
She smiles as Dean pulls out the matches and lights the whole lot before throwing them onto the bones. Juliet smiles as she watches the body go up in flame, she even warms her hands on the fire, her body could do with some heating up.
Dean just shakes his head at her antics, before looking down to the now bones burn into flames.
"Goodbye, preacher."
Juliet rolls her eyes, "You're so dramatic."
โข โข โข
Lori sighs, "No one will talk to me anymore." She looks to Sam, "Except you. The Sherrif thinks I'm a suspect. And you know what my dad wil say? Pray. Have faith." She huffs, "What does he know about faith?"
Sam nods his head, listening to the girl rant. He points to the window he saw them in earlier.
"I heard you guys fighting before."
Lori exhales deeply, "He's seeing another woman. A married woman. I just found out. She comes to church with her husband. I know her kids. And he talks to me about religion? About morality?" She sniffs, "It's like, on one hand, you know, just do what you want and be happy. But he taught me, raised me to believe that if you do something wrong you will get punished. I just don't know what to think anymore."
Lori hugs Sam, the Winchester brother looks on, confused but still hugs her back.
There's a pause in the air as they look into one another's eyes. Their breaths can be felt on each other, mingling in the air. Lori hestitates before leaning up to kiss him and surprising himself, Sam kisses back.
It's not until his thoughts catches up to his brain when he pulls away.
Lori looks at him, confused.
"Sam?"
The said Winchester shakes his head, "Lori, I can't."
The reverend's daughter nods her head, understanding straight away.
"That someone you lost?"
Sam just stares at her and Lori, instantly gets the message. She looks down in shame, "I'm sorry."
It's then, Lori's Dad walks out the front door, he stares at Sam with a disapproving look on his face before looking to his daughter. "Lori? Come inside, please."
Lori, starting to get angry at her father for interrupting their moment, turns to the reverend.
"I'll come in when I'm ready."
Sam's eyes widen as suddenly, the Hook Man appears behind Lori's father and pierces his hook into Mr. Sorenson's shoulder, dragging him back into the house. The reverend lets out a deafening scream of pain as he's getting dragged. The Hook Man slams the door shut behind them, muffling Lori's father's screams.
Sam immediately grabs his gun and runs into the house, Lori behind him. He looks around before hearing the reverend's screams from upstairs.
"No! No, please!"
Sam bolts up the stairs and see's the master bedroom door, shutting. He pushes his long legs and shoves the bedroom door open and spots the reverend laying on the floor with the Hook Man standing over him. He takes his gun that's loaded with rock salt and aims and shoots and the spirit in the side.
The Hook Man turns to Sam but before he can attack the Winchester, Sam shoots it once more. He watches as the Hook Man turns to dust. The gun blast causes the bedroom window to shatter, causing glass to go across the floor.
Lori comes running into the room, "Dad! Dad!" She sees her father on the floor, clutching his shoulder in pain, she's quick to kneel down next to him and check his wound, tears in her eyes.
"Okay. It's okay, dad, it's okay. It's okay."

Author's Note
And there you have it, chapter twenty-one is out and published!
I know I said it would be out last week but some stuff got in the way, therefore delaying me publishing it.
I know you didn't see much of Harlow this chapter, don't worry. You'll see more of her in the next chapter, promise! I can't believe we're on episode 7, almost episode 8! Before you know it, we'll be on season 2, which is where things really start to happen. The wheels will definitely start to be in motion.
Of course, at the end of this season is where the truth will come out and Dean will find out that Juliet's always known about John's whereabouts, or will it come earlier, who knows? Oh, wait..I do.
But you'll just have to wait and see!
As always please don't forget to vote and comment as I do read every single one and do try my best to reply to all of them! You're vote will also be greatly appreciated, too.
Until next time...
