PILOT [PART ONE]
___
"Hiya, Sammy."
โ
"Juliet?"
โข โข โข
"It's been three weeks."
Juliet looks up from the magazine she's currently reading to see Dean pacing about their motel room.
She sighs as she turns a page. "I'm sure he's fine, he would call you if he wasn't. Besides, he's been away longer than this."
The emerald green eyes that belong to her boyfriend, snap to her brown ones.
"What if something's happened to him... or worse?"
Juliet swallows the lump in her throat. Although she doesn't voice it, she's also concerned about John's wellbeing and ever since John left her with the order to not tell Dean where he's gone, all she's wanted to do is tell her boyfriend the truth. She hates lying to him.
Juliet goes to speak again but the sound of the bathroom door in their motel room opening stops her.
The young twenty-three-year-old watches as her daughter walks out of the bathroom, a smile on her face with her stuffed elephant in hand.
"Did you brush your teeth?"
Harlow looks at her mother and nods her head, showing off her pearly white teeth to prove it.
Juliet smiles at her daughter while getting up and off of the bed she shares with Dean. The brunette leans down and kisses her daughter on the head while looking at Dean and giving him a 'Drop the subject for now' look.
Dean sighs but nods his head, not wanting to worry his daughter. The said twenty-six-year-old man plasters a smile onto his face and brushes his daughter's hair out of her eyes.
"Thought about what you want for your birthday yet?"
Juliet smiles at the thought of her baby turning five years old in a few days.
Harlow hums in thought before looking between her mother and father, a big smile on her face.
"An elephant."
Dean and Juliet look to one another, both with amused expressions on their faces. "An elephant? But you already have one." Harlow giggles before shaking her head. "No mommy, a real elephant."
Dean covers up his chuckle with a cough as he looks down at his four-year-old. "Well, Honey, I don't think we'd be able to take a real elephant with us on the road... anything else you might want?"
Harlow stays silent for a moment, pondering her father's words. "Hmm... I'll have to get back to you on that." Juliet giggles at her daughters choice of words, sounding exactly like Dean.
She pats her daughters head before making her way to her and Dean's bag that is filled with their clothes, taking out her outfit for the day.
A FEW HOURS LATER
Juliet looks out of the motel room window, watching as her daughter plays with her stuffed elephant on the decking outside their motel room.
"So, I've been thinking."
Juliet looks up at the sound of her boyfriend's voice, an expression of fake shock on her face.
"I've told you, thinking isn't good for you. You might just use up that last brain cell of yours."
Dean mock laughs at his girlfriend's comment as he makes his way towards her and looks out of the window, both parents now watching their daughter.
"I think we should go and visit Sam."
The brunette looks at her boyfriend with wide eyes, silently asking him to elaborate, which he does.
"We could use his help with finding dad."
Juliet internally groans as she turns her whole body so she's fully facing Dean. "You're not going to budge on this, are you?"
Dean looks down at Juliet and places his right hand on her upper arm, rubbing soothing circles on the fabric of her shirt.
"Nope."
Juliet sighs before nodding her head. "Alright, fine. We'll go and see Sam first thing tomorrow morning." She then stands up from her sitting position and looks at Dean, love shining in her chocolate brown eyes.
"It's a long drive, you're going to need all the sleep you can get." Dean smiles down at his girlfriend and leans down placing a kiss on her soft lips.
"You're amazing you know that? Thanks for being there for me and for being an amazing Mom."
Juliet tilts her head at her boyfriend's words, her smile widening. "You'll always have me."
The dark blonde haired man pulls Juliet into a hug, kissing the side of her head. "And you'll always have me."
Suddenly the door to their motel room bursts open. Harlow runs up to her parents at full force, almost knocking the two over. Juliet laughs as she looks down to her and Dean's whole world, placing her hand on her daughter's reddish-brown locks, as Harlow wraps her small arms around both her mother and father's legs, a wide toothy smile on her face.
"Don't forget about me!"
Dean chuckles before bending down to pick up his daughter and boops her nose with his index finger. "We could never forget about you, baby."
Harlow giggles as she looks at her dad's finger that is still on her nose which causes her to go purposefully cross-eyed.
"I'm hungry, are you hungry?"
Harlow nods her head at her Dad's question. Dean then looks to Juliet, silently asking her if she could go for some grub.
Juliet looks down at the watch that is on her wrist, reading the time. "It's 1:45 in the afternoon." The brunette then looks at her boyfriend and nods her head, answering Dean's silent question. "Yeah, I could go for some lunch."
Dean nods his head before grabbing his jacket, motel keys and car keys as Juliet helps Harlow into her jacket and shoes before slipping her jacket on, her and Dean's shoes already on their feet.
The family of three then exit the motel to drive to the nearest diner.
THE NEXT DAY
Juliet sits in the passenger seat as Dean drives the Impala, also known as baby, down a deserted road.
Harlow sits in her car seat at the back, playing with Ellie her stuffed elephant. While their daughter is preoccupied with talking to her stuffed toy, Juliet turns to Dean.
"Are you sure this is a good idea? I mean we haven't seen Sam in forever, not since he and John had that massive argument and he stormed out."
Dean turns to Juliet, moving one of his hands that's on the wheel and places it on his girlfriend's thigh, squeezing it in reassurance. "I'm sure."
Juliet nods her head, deciding to drop the subject.
A part of her is excited to see her best friend again but the other part of her is nervous and unsure of what Sam's reaction will be to the three of them turning up unannounced at his doorstep.
โข โข โข
A few hours later, Dean pulls the Impala to a stop outside of what looks like the building Sam is situated in. Juliet looks to her boyfriend who hasn't moved an inch since he turned the engine off and pulled the keys from the Impalas ignition.
"Dean?"
Green eyes snap to her brown ones. Seeing the unsure expression on her boyfriend's face, Juliet smiles and grabs her Dean's hand. "Do you want me to come in with you?" Dean smiles at her words. "What about Harlow?"
Juliet turns to their sleeping daughter before turning back to Dean. "She's still asleep and we won't be that long." The green-eyed man looks into the rearview mirror and smiles at the peaceful look displayed on Harlow's face as she slept. He then turns back to Juliet and nods his head. "Let's go."
The duo then get out of the car, Dean making sure to lock it, before making their way up the fire escape at the side of the building Sam's in. Dean looks to Juilet. "You got that lock pick?" Juliet nods her head as she pulls out the said tool from her pocket. The brunette sends Dean a smirk. "Let me do it."
Dean jokingly sighs before moving out of the way so Juliet can work her magic. The brown-eyed woman puts the lock pick in the keyhole of the window into Sam's apartment.
It takes a few seconds before a satisfying click comes from the lock, signalling the two that the window is now unlocked.
Dean looks to Juliet before slowly lifting the window up, trying to be as quiet as possible as he climbs inside with Juliet following behind him. The brunette takes her time to look around the spacious room that she and Dean find themselves in.
Noticing framed pictures on the wall, Juliet makes her way over to them, a sad smile pulls at her lips as she looks at the photo of Her, Dean, Sam, John and Mary that was taken the day before Mary died.
Juliet moves her eyes to the blonde-haired woman, tears starting to pool in her eyes as the memories of Mary start to cloud her mind.
Although she was only one year's old, Juliet remembers the time she spent with Mary like when the two went out for a 'Girls day' when her mother and father were on a hunt which ended up being their last.
NOVEMBER 1st, 1983
One-year-old Juilet sits in a high chair as Mary Winchester sits opposite her, smiling at the young girl as she messily eats the syrup covered waffles that are in front of her. The blonde-haired woman laughs as she grabs a napkin and gently cleans the toddler's face.
"You're worse than Dean and Sammy."
Juliet looks up at the woman with an open mouth and toothless smile pulling at her features as she shrieks and babbles in baby language. Mary chuckles and shakes her head. "What are you trying to say, huh?" Juliet continues to babble away in her high chair pointing to the cup of coffee in front of Mary.
The blonde Winchester looks to her coffee before looking back to Juliet. "You want my coffee?" Juliet shrieks like she's confirming Mary's question. The kind woman smiles and shakes her head. "You can't have that sweetie, it's a grown-ups drink."
A frown pulls at young Juliet's face, her face scrunching up. Mary, knowing what's about to happen, immediately picks young Juliet up and out of her high chair, cradling the young girl to her chest, gently shushing her as Juliet starts to quietly whimper at being told that she can't have the coffee that is in front of Mary.
"It's okay my love. Hush now."
At her calming words, Juliet starts to quieten down, sniffles leaving her small red button nose. The toddler looks up and meets Mary's eyes that hold love and adoration for the young girl who she views as the daughter she never had.
END OF FLASHBACK
Juliet's snapped out of her memory by a grunting noise that comes from around the corner. Recognising the person's grunt, Juliet quickly walks towards the sound and holds back the snort at the sight in front of her.
Sam lays on the floor with Dean on top of him, a smirk pulling at the dirty blonde man's lips. "Woah, easy tiger." Juliet hears Sam breathing heavily as he looks up to his brother who he hasn't seen in years.
"Dean?"
The said man laughs as Sam squints his eyes up at his older brother, the moonlight shining in through the slits in the shades, illuminating half of the man's face.
"You scared the crap out of me!"
"That's 'cause you're out of practice."
Sam then grabs Dean's hand and pulls, slamming his heels into Dean's back, shoving him to the wooden floor.
"Or not."
The youngest of the Winchester brother's taps Dean on the shoulder twice.
Having enough of feeling his brother's weight crushing down on him, Dean huffs. "Get off of me." Sam does as his brother says and holds a hand out to help him up, which Dean takes.
Juliet watches as Sam looks Dean up and down, a curious expression donning his features. "What the hell are you doing here?" Dean brushes himself down before looking up and meeting the eyes of his younger brother, a playful smirk dancing on his lips. "Well, I was looking for a beer."
"Well, if you saved the last one that was in the pack earlier like I told you to, we wouldn't have this problem." Dean playfully rolls his eyes at Juliet's words whereas Sam stands there in shock as Juliet steps out of the shadows, a small smile on her face as her eyes meet Sam's.
"Hiya, Sammy."
"Juliet?"
The said woman nods her head. "It's been a while, huh?" The younger Winchester scoffs. "Yeah, you could say that." Juliet winces at his tone of voice. Dean seeing his girlfriend's expression, decides to change the subject and puts his hands on Sam's shoulders, shaking him twice before letting go.
"We gotta talk."
Noticing the serious expression on his brother's face, Sam raises an eyebrow. "Uh, the phone?" Juliet makes her way towards Dean and stands next to him as he wraps an arm around her waist. "If we called, would you have picked up?"
Sam goes to answer but the room's light turning on draws all three's attention towards a blonde woman standing there in nothing but pyjama shorts and a smurfs pyjama top, her gaze on the younger Winchester brother.
"Sam?"
The said giraffe of a man looks towards the woman, a smile on his face. "Jess. Hey." Sam then looks back towards the other couple in the room. "Dean, Juliet. This is my girlfriend, Jessica." Dean smiles at Jessica in greeting before turning to his girlfriend and whispering in her ear. "Why don't you wear stuff like that?"
Juliet gapes and turns to Dean before hitting him over the head causing the young adult to hiss in pain and rub the spot where his girlfriend hit him.
Jessica, ignoring the two, still looks at Sam, a smile replacing her once confused expression. "Wait, your brother Dean and his girlfriend Juliet?" Sam nods his head in confirmation. Jessica then looks around, confused. "I thought you said you also had a niece."
Juliet smiles at the thought of Sam mentioning and talking about Harlow to Jessica. Dean looks to his brother's girlfriend. "Harlow's in the car." Dean then points to her pyjama top. "She loves the smurfs."
Jessica looks down to her top before looking back up at Dean and blushes out of embarrassment due to her standing there in her pyjama's. "Just let me put something on." Jess turns to leave but Dean's voice stops her. "No, no, no. I wouldn't dream of it, seriously."
Sam gives Dean a stony expression as Juliet once again hits him around the head. "Jesus, woman! Will you stop that?"
"Then don't be a perv."
Juliet smirks as her boyfriend open and closes his mouth like a fish. The young woman then turns to Jessica, her smirk turning into a warm smile.
"Excuse him." She then looks to Sam before looking back to Jessica. "If you don't mind, we gotta borrow your boyfriend here." Dean nods his head at his girlfriend's words. "Yeah, we gotta talk about some private family business. But nice meeting you."
"No."
Jessica frowns and looks towards Sam, who makes his way over to the blonde, winding his arm around her waist, bringing her closer. "No, whatever you guys want to say, you can say it in front of her."
Juliet and Dean look to one another before looking back at the college students. "Okay." Juliet frowns, her heart clenching as she's reminded that she's lying to Dean as the said man walks closer to Sam.
"Um, Dad hasn't been home in a few days."
Sam shrugs his shoulders and scoffs at his brother's words. "So? He's working overtime on a Miller Time-shift. He'll stumble back in sooner or later."
Juliet clears her throat causing Sam's hazel eyes to snap to her brown ones. "No, Sam. John's on a hunting trip and he hasn't been home in a few days." The expression on Sam's face stays the same as the younger Winchester brother processes the words Juliet has just told him. Jess glances up at Sam, one of her eyebrows raised.
Sam continues to look between Dean and Juliet as he addresses his girlfriend. "Jess, excuse us. We have to go outside."
โข โข โข
The three make their way down the stairwell, Sam now dressed in a hoodie and Jeans. "I mean, come on. You two can't break in, middle of the night, and expect me to hit the road with you both."
"You're not hearing us, Sammy. Dad's missing. I need you to help us find him."
"You remember the poltergeist in Amherst? Or the Devil's Gates in Clifton? He was missing then, too. He's always missing, and he's always fine."
Dean stops and turns to Sam causing the younger Winchester to also stop. Juliet sighs, just wanting to check on her daughter, also not wanting to hear the conversation between the two brother's play out. Dean sensing this, fishes the keys to the Impala out of his pocket and throws them to Juliet who catches them with ease.
The brunette sends Dean a smile before making her way down the rest of the steps and out the doors before walking towards the Impala, the guilt still eating away at her heart.
Dean still looks at Sam as Juliet makes her way towards the car. "Not for this long and he never forgets to call when it comes to Harlow. Now, are you coming with us or not?" Dean raises his eyebrows as Sam shakes his head. "I'm not."
"Why not?"
Sam sighs and looks down before looking back up to Dean. "I swore I was done with hunting. For good." Dean huffs and looks to Sam, his eyes squinting. "Come on, it wasn't easy, but it wasn't that bad." Dean starts downstairs again with Sam hot on his heels.
The tall man scoffs. "Yeah? When I told Dad I was scared of the thing in my closet, he gave me a .45. I mean, come on Dean. Is this the kind of life you want for Harls? To be taught how to use a gun at just the age of five? To learn that everything that is shrugged off as scary stories is real?"
Dean abruptly stops at the doors leading to the outside of the building and turns around, startling Sam. The dirty blond-haired man glares at his brother. "Of course not! But what choice do Jules and I have? We're always on the road, never staying in more than one place for a day."
Sam's hard expression softens as he looks to Dean, a guilty expression on his face. "Dean, look." The older Winchester shakes his head deciding to go back to what they were previously talking about. "What was Dad supposed to do?" Sam rolls his eyes as the subject changes back to his father.
"I was nine years old! He was supposed to say, don't be afraid of the dark."
"Don't be afraid of the dark? Are you kidding me? Of course, you should be afraid of the dark. You know what's out there."
"Yeah, I know, but still. The way we grew up, after Mom was killed, and Dad's obsession to find the thing that killed her. He wasn't even there to console Jules after she had lost both her parents, instead, he turned her into a military-like soldier." Dean glances outside and looks at the Impala, a smile lighting up his features as he spots Juliet talking to their now wide awake daughter.
Sam continues to say his piece, not noticing where Dean's eyes are looking. "But we still haven't found the damn thing. So we kill everything we can find."
Dean shifts his attention back to Sam, a hard look in his green eyes."We save a lot of people doing it, too."
There's an impregnable silence between the brothers before Sam speaks what's on his mind. "You think Mom would have wanted this for us?" Dean rolls his eyes before angrily slamming the doors to the entrance of the apartment building open.
Meanwhile, Juliet smiles at her now awake daughter. "Mommy, where awe we?" The brunette sighs and looks out of the windscreen to see Dean and Sam exit the apartment building, she then looks back to Harlow. "We're at a place called Stanford University." Harlow looks at her mother, curiosity swimming in her green eyes. "Why?"
Juliet shakes her head with a smile on her face at her daughter's inquisitiveness. "To see someone." Harlow then spots her father with a tall man making their way towards the car that she and her mother are currently sitting in.
The four-year-old quickly unbuckles herself, before opening the car door, and runs up to her father who already has his arms out to catch her as she runs to him and gets lifted in the air causing her to giggle as butterflies erupt in her tummy.
"Daddy!" Dean laughs at his Daughter's excitement, his heart swelling knowing that his daughter is happy to see him. He watches as Harlow looks to Sam who's standing behind him, with timid eyes. "Harlow, you remember Uncle Sammy?" The said young girl peeks over her Dad's shoulder and looks at Sam who smiles at his niece.
"Hey, Angel."
Harlow shyly waves before hiding her face in her Father's neck causing the older man to chuckle and rub her back as he continues to walk.
Sam decides to carry on his conversation with his brother "The weapon training, and melting the silver into bullets? Dean, we were raised like warriors, Juliet included." The two continue to cross the parking lot to the Impala and towards Juliet, who has exited the car and is leaning against the hood.
"So what are you gonna do? You're just gonna live some normal, apple pie life? Is that it?" Harlow's head shoots up at the mention of pie. "I love apple pie." Dean chuckles and kisses his daughters head before setting her down and grabbing her hand. "I know you do, baby."
Dean then looks to Sam, an eyebrow raised as he waits for Sam to answer the question. The younger Winchester brother shakes his head. "No. Not normal, safe." Dean nods his head. "And that's why you ran away."
Dean then looks away from his brother and smiles down at Harlow as Sam huffs and shakes his head. "I was just going to college. It was Dad who said if I was gonna go I should stay gone. And that's what I'm doing."
Juliet sighs as she takes Harlow's hand that was holding Dean's as she feels the anxiety roll off of him. Dean looks to Juliet and motions to Harlow. Catching on to what Dean's hinting at, she covers Harlow's ears causing the four-year-old to frown and huff. The green-eyed man then turns back to Sam. "Yeah, well, Dad's in real trouble right now. If he's not already dead. I can feel it."
Sam is silent as Juliet takes her hands away from her Daughter's ears. Dean continues to look at Sam. "I can't do this alone." Sam shakes his head and gestures to Juliet and Harlow. "Yes you can, and besides you're not alone." The older Winchester rolls his eyes. "Fine. I'll rephrase." He then motions between himself and Juliet. "We can't do this alone and we don't want to." Sam then looks down in thought before meeting Dean's eyes. "What was he hunting?" Juliet looks to her daughter and taps her on the shoulder.
"Alright you, back in the car, please." Harlow whines as she looks up to her Mother. "But I don't wanna." The young mother sighs. "I wasn't asking."
The four-year-old frowns and crosses her arms. "No!" Juliet looks down at her Daughter in shock from her outburst as Dean turns around, also in shock at hearing the way Harlow spoke to her mother.
"Hey!" Harlow swallows and looks up at her Father to see him pointing a finger at her in warning with the 'Serious Dad look' on his face. "Don't speak to your Mom like that! Now get in the car." Harlow glares at her father before sticking her tongue out at him and getting in the impala, slamming the door shut.
Dean goes to move and open the door to where Harlow is sitting but Juliet, placing her hand on his arm, stops him. He looks to his girlfriend to see her shaking her head. "Leave her, Dean. She's just tired."
The twenty-six-year-old sighs but nods his head and opens the trunk of the Impala and lifts up the spare-tire compartment, propping it up with a shotgun as he looks through the arsenal and clutter that takes up most of the space.
"All right, let's see, where did I put that thing?" Sam looks to Dean, speaking the question that's on his mind. "So when Dad left, why didn't you go with him?" Dean looks up at Sam.
"Jules and I were working our, own gig. This, uh, voodoo thing, down in New Orleans."
"Dad let you two go on a hunting trip by yourselves?" Dean raises an eyebrow at his brother. "I'm twenty-six dude." At the same time, Juliet says, "I'm twenty-three."
Dean then finds the folder he was looking for and pulls some papers out. "All right, here we go. So Dad was checking out this two-lane blacktop just outside of Jericho, California."
Sam looks to his brother with one of his dark eyebrows raised. "When was this?" Although Sam was aiming the question at Dean, Juliet decides to pitch into the conversation. "About a month ago." Juliet then pulls out a piece of paper from the pile and hands it to Sam. "This guy. They found his car, but he vanished. Completely M.I.A."
Sam looks down to the paper in his hands and skims over the words typed out on the article.
Jericho Herald, Sept 19th, 2005
Centennial Highway disappearance
Andrew Carey MISSING
Sam's eyes move to the picture of a young man displayed on the article before glancing back up at Juliet and Dean. "So maybe he was kidnapped."
Juliet nods her head from side to side before leafing through the pile of Missing person articles. "You think? Here's another one in April." Juliet passes the sheet of paper to Sam as Dean tells him the dates that the people on the articles went missing. "Another one in December 'oh-four, 'oh-three, 'ninety-eight, 'ninety-two." The older Winchester then meets his brother's eyes. "Ten of them over the past twenty years."
The green-eyed man then takes the article back from Sam before picking up the rest of the stack, shoving them back inside the folder.
"All men, all the same, five-mile stretch of road." Juliet then leans into the trunk of the Impala and pulls out a bag while relaying the information they have, to Sam. "It started happening more and more, John went to dig around. That was three weeks ago. We haven't heard from him since."
"Which is bad enough." Dean says while shoving the folder back into the trunk.ย
Juliet opens the bag before reaching in and pulls out a tape recorder which she passes to Dean who mutters a 'thanks babe'. "We got this voicemail yesterday." The green-eyed Winchester then presses play.
Juliet chews at her bottom lip as John's voice sounds through the speaker of the Tape recorder, his voice coming out as staticky, the signal breaking up.
"Juliet...Dean...something big is starting to happen...I need to figure out what's going on. It may...you and...girls be careful, Dean. We're all in danger."
Juliet casts her eyes down to the wet concrete, worry eating her up from the inside. 'I should have gone with him.' Dean then presses the stop button as Sam turns to his brother. "You know there's EVP on that?"
Dean smirks at his younger Brother. "Not bad, Sammy. Kinda like riding a bike, isn't it?"
Sam shakes his head and goes to answer his older brother but a small voice stops him. "What's EVP?" Juliet and Dean turn to the Impala and see Harlow sticking her head out of the window, a curious expression on her face. Dean sighs through his nose, his face hardening into a strict expression as Juliet quietly groans under her breath.
"Harlow Mary Winchester! Put your head back in that damn car! How many times do we gotta tell you, do not stick your head out of the car window." The four-year-old meet's her Father's eyes.
Identical green eyes staring at one another, Daughter challenging Father. "But I wanna know!" Juliet, having had enough of her Daughter's behaviour, sighs before an idea pops into her head.
"If we tell you, will you let us continue our 'grown up' discussion?" Harlow thinks about it before turning to her mother and nods her head.
"It stands for Electronic voice phenomenon."
Harlow looks down, processing this new piece of information before looking back to her mother. "What does penomenon mean?" Juliet gives her daughter a stern look. "We had a deal." the brunette then motions to her mouth, doing a 'zip it' gesture. "Button it and put your head back in the car."
Harlow groans but does what her mother says. The young brunette turns back to Dean and gives him a look, pointing her finger to the back of the Impala, where their daughter sits. "She gets her attitude from you, not me."
Dean looks at Juliet. "Hey! If I remember correctly you hardly listened to anyone at that age and were just as bad." Juliet goes to respond but Sam clears his throat, gaining both of the young parent's attention. A smirk pulls at the corner of his lips, glad to see that nothing has changed between the two. "Can we focus?"
Dean clears his throat and nods his head, looking back down to the tape recorder in his hands as he leans against the Impala. "All right. I slowed the message down, and Juliet ran it through a gold wave. We took out the hiss and this is what we got."
Dean presses the play button on the recorder and this time a Woman's eerie voice can be heard. "I can never go home." Sam looks down to the tape recorder looking back up at Dean, repeating the Woman's words.
"Never go home."
Dean nods his head as he drops the recorder and shotgun back into the trunk before standing up straight and shutting it, then goes back to leaning against the Impala, staring at his younger brother.
"You know, in almost two years Jules and I have never bothered you, never asked you for a thing." Sam sighs and looks down to the ground, hearing his brother's words.
It's silent for a moment before Sam looks back up and nods his head. "Alright. I'll go. I'll help you both find him."
Dean nods at his brother's words, trying to suppress the small smile but Sam wasn't finished. "But I have to get back first thing Monday. Just, both of you, wait here." Sam turns to go and walk back to his apartment but turns back when Dean speaks. "What's first thing Monday?"
Juliet raises one of her eyebrows, silently wanting to know the answer as well.
"I have this..." Sam sighs almost as if he is reluctant to tell them, Dean more than Juliet. "...I have an interview." Dean raises an eyebrow. "A job interview? Skip it." Juliet turns to Dean and glares at him. "You can't just tell him to skip it, Dean." Sam nods his head, agreeing with Juliet while huffing at his brother's response. "It's a law school interview, and it's my whole future on a plate."
Dean looks to sam, a half scoff, half-laugh escaping his lips. "Law school?" Sam nods his head while Dean just smirks at his younger brother. Sam sighs. "So we got a deal or not?" Dean doesn't say anything.
Sam taking his silence as a yes, turns on his heel and walks back to his apartment. Juliet and Dean look at each other before getting into the Impala and turning to Harlow who's already looking at both of her parents, knowing that a lecture is about to begin.
Dean decides to start the said lecture. "You gonna explain yourself, young Lady?" Harlow swallows and goes to open her mouth but Dean holds up his hand, silencing her. "When you're Mother says to do something, you do it. When I tell you to do something you do it. You do not back talk us."
Harlow nods her head. "Yes, daddy." Juliet then smiles a small smile at her daughter. "Harls." Harlow turns her head at the sound of her Mother's voice to see her looking at her with soft eyes. "I think you owe your daddy an apology, it's not very nice to stick your tongue out and glare at someone, is it?"
Harlow casts her eyes down after seeing her Mother's knowing look. The four-year-old then looks up to Dean, seeing him already looking at her. "I'm sowwy daddy." Dean smiles at her before leaning over the front seat.
The hunter unbuckles Harlow and lifts her over the front bench seat, placing her in between himself and Juliet. "It's okay, baby. I forgive you." Harlow smiles at her Dad's words and giggles when he leans down and starts to place kisses all over her face. His two-day stubble, tickling her.
"Daddy, stwop it twickles." Dean laughs as Juliet smiles at her small family in front of her, thankful to have Dean and their daughter in her life.
โข โข โข
Five minutes go by until Sam walks back over to the car, bag packed and in hand. The taller man throws it into the trunk before making his way back around the Impala.
Juliet looks to Harlow. "Come on." Dean looks at his girlfriend with an eyebrow raised as Juliet steps out of the passenger side, Harlow following behind her.
"Where are you goin'?"
Juliet looks back to see the frown on Dean's face and chuckles. "Moving to the back with Harlow."
"Why?"
The brunette gives Dean an isn't it obvious look. "Harlow hasn't seen Sam in years, she hardly remembers him. So I think she'll be a bit uncomfortable with Sam sitting with her. He can sit at the front while Harls and I sit in the back."
Dean sighs but nods his head. Juliet smiles at Sam as he passes her to sit in the front as she moves into the back, buckling Harlow into her car seat as soon as she shuts the door behind her.
"You good?"
Juliet looks up and meets Dean's green eyes in the rearview mirror. She nods her head. "We're good."
Dean then turns the key in the ignition before driving off, leaving Stanford University behind them.
