BLOODY MARY [PART TWO]
___

"What I wanna know is, how did she get my cell number?"
โ€”
"I may or may not have written it down instead of my one."

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

Dean, Juliet and Sam walk down the hallway that leads to the bathroom, with trepidition. Harlow is making sure to stay close to her uncle, the poor five year old is slightly scared of what they will face, so she clutches his hand in a tight grip. Juliet notices this and turns to her daughter. "Why don't you stay in the hallway, hun? That way we can keep an eye on you, okay?"

Harlow nods her head, not wanting to go into the bathroom anyway. The little Winchester knows there's a line when it comes to her family's job and even she won't cross that line.

The three hunters make their way to the Shoemaker's bathroom door, the two Winchester brother's and Sullivan descendant pass three mirrors as they do. The huntress, never being the one to resist, stops at one of the mirrors and fluffs out of her hair and checks her make up.

Dean and Sam, both noticing that Juliet has stopped, turn to the huntress. The former Winchester brother rolls his eyes at his girlfriend while Sam just sighs.

Juliet, feeling two sets of eyes on her, turns to both Winchester brothers with a look on her face. "What?" Dean rolls his eyes once more before striding towards her and gently taking her arm. "Really?" Juliet rolls her eyes, "I was just making sure none of my make up was smudged."

Dean stops walking which also causes Juliet to stop.

Sam looks at the two in curiosity, wondering why they've stopped. They don't have a lot of time.

Dean senses his brother's impatience but decides to ignore it and instead opts to grab both of Juliet's hands in his. His green eyes meet her brown ones. "You listen to me, Juliet Eloise Sullivan. You don't need make up to look pretty because to me, you're beautiful without it and always will be."

Juliet's cheeks start to blush a rose pink at Dean's words.

The huntress is quick to lean in and give him a sweet but short kiss in thanks.

Sam clears his throat, "I love you guys, I really do, but we don't have a lot of time and we need to get moving before someone, either wants to use the bathroom or wonders where we are."

Dean and Juliet turn to one another and roll their eyes in unison but decide that Sam is right, he's being a dick about it, but he's right.

The three hunters then start to get back to the task at hand.

Juliet watches as Sam slowly pushes open the bathroom door and narrows her eyes when she sees that there's still some dried blood on the linoleum flooring. Dried blood that was once pumping in Steven Shoemaker's body before he died.

The huntress looks to the two brother's, "Huh? The Bloody Mary legend. Who'd have thought." Sam nods his head in agreement before turning to his brother and friend. "Did dad ever find any evidence that it was a real thing?"

Juliet pushes down the lump in her throat at the mention of John and decides to just stay quiet. The huntress slowly crouches down on the floor to inspect the dried patch of blood while Dean shakes his head in answer to Sam's question.

"Not that I know of..."

Sam furrows his eyebrows, having noticed the fade at the end of his brother's words, he immediately knows that his older brother is distracted. He turns to Dean to see him looking at Juliet with a frown on his face.

Dean eyes the brunette, knowing that something is up with her, knowing that she's keeping something from him but what that is? He doesn't know but he can hazzard a guess. Everytime John's name is mentioned, she closes herself off and instantly becomes 'distracted' by something else. He narrows his green eyes in thought.

'Has dad said something to her?'

Juliet's voice brings him out of the rabbit hole that is his thoughts.

"Every kid, all over the country, has played with Bloody Mary. Hell, I even did it as a kid at some point but as far as we know, nobody dies from it."

She turns and looks up at the Winchester brother's from her position on the floor. Her brown eyes land on Dean as he's the one to reply.

"Yeah, well, maybe everywhere it's just a story, but here it's actually happening."

Juliet winces at the harshness in Dean's voice and so does he.

The dark blonde man is quick to take a breath, he didn't mean for it to come out like that.

Juliet narrows her eyes at her boyfriend, wondering what made his mood change all of a sudden. He seemed happy a minute ago.

Sam looks between the two, also having heard Dean snap at Juliet. The taller Winchester brother lifts a curious eyebrow. Him too, wondering what made Dean's mood change.

Always being the mediator, Sam clears his throat and decides to break the tense atmosphere between the two and instead, get back to the hunt.

"The place where the legend began?"

Unfortunately for Sam, Dean doesn't say anything and just shrugs while Juliet shakes her head at her boyfriend, her eyes still trained on him as he moves to the medicine cabinet and opens it. Sam follows his brother as Juliet gets up from her crouching position.

"But according to the legend, the person who says B-"

Sam stops mid-sentence and looks at the medicine cabinet mirror, which is now facing him. The younger Winchester brother closes it causing Dean to look at him. Sam ignores the look and continues with what he was saying, "The person who says you know what gets it but here-"

Dean's eyes slightly widen as he gets what Sam is saying. "Shoemaker gets it instead, yeah." Sam nods his head in confirmation, "Right." Juliet decides to get in on the conversation and looks between the brother's, "I've never heard of anything like that before but, the vic did die infront of the mirror, that and the daughters right. I heard that the legend goes, you know who-" Juliet motions her head towards the medicine cabinet mirror, "-scratches your eyes out."

The three hunters share a look.

"It's worth looking into."

Juliet nods her head at Sam's words.

"I agree."

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

Harlow leans against the wall opposite the bathroom door, the young girl opting to keep a look out incase anyone comes up the stairs.

The little Winchester is quietly humming to herself, starting to become impatient with her parents and uncle for taking so long.

The five year old stops humming as she hears light footsteps making their way up the stairs.

Harlow looks to her right and sees the shadow of someone before seeing a woman who is visible from the knees.

The young Winchester, without thinking, rushes into the bathroom and almost crashes into her father's jean-clad leg.

Dean is quick to steady his daughter. "Harlow we-" He stops talking once he sees the panic striken look on her face. "Harlow? What's wrong?"

Harlow's green eyes meet his and his little girl lets out a breath.

"Someone is coming up the staiws."

The three hunters share a look before leaving the bathroom, Juliet shuts the door behind them.

The family of four stop in their steps as the blonde woman that was sitting next to Donna from earlier is now standing in front of them, Donna's friend crosses her arms as she eyes the three hunters from head to toe.

"What are you all doing up here?"

Harlow steps in front of her family and glares at the girl.

"Mind youw own buidness."

Donna's friend glares down at the five year old, "Oh shut it, pipsqueak."

The five year old Winchester frowns at Donna's blonde friend before turning to her mother and clutching her jeans.

Juliet glares at the blonde girl, which has the girl wincing slightly. Her blue eyes land on the two Winchester brother's. Her breath gets caught in her throat as she see's both of them glaring at her as well.

The brunette woman, Juliet, points a finger at her.

"First of all, talk to my daughter like that again and you won't like what happens next. Second of all, we had to use the bathroom."

The blonde girl looks between the three hunters, a curios look on her face.

"Who are you guys?"

Juliet, having been ignored by the woman, goes to give her a piece of her mind but Dean, knowing his girlfriend so well, is quick to put an arm around her waist to hold her there. Juliet looks up at Dean, her eyes narrowed at him for two reasons, One, for his earlier tone towards her and two, for holding her back when this bitch derserves what she gets for talking to their daughter like that. Who does this woman think she is?

Dean, knowing Juliet is seething with anger, decides to step in. Don't get him wrong, he's angry at the woman as well but they need answers. The older Winchester brother starts with the lie they had come up with earlier.

"Like we said downstairs, we worked with Donna's dad."

The blonde girl's eyes narrow as she scoffs, not believing them.

"He was a day trader or something. He worked by himself."

Dean curses himself under his breath, no wonder she and her other friend looked at them wierdly.

"No, I know, I meant-"

Donna's friend cuts him off.

"And all those weird questions downstairs, what was that? So you tell me what's going on, or I start screaming."

Juliet, having enough of this woman's attitude, scoffs.

"Scream all you want, I don't care."

Sam shoots Juliet a glare before turning to Donna's friend with a calm look on his face.

"All right, all right. We think something happened to Donna's dad."

Donna's friend nods her head with a 'duh' look on her face.

"Yeah, a stroke."

Juliet rolls her eyes, sometimes people can be so dense. Really wanting to slap this girl for her attitude, she replies back with a snap in her tone.

"Oh yeah, because what happened to Mr. Shoemaker, those were totally signs of a stroke."

Dean tightens his hold on her and squeezes her hip in warning. The brunette just scoffs in reply. Her brown eyes meet Sam's green ones, she grumbles under her breath when she sees the 'Shut up' look that Sam is giving her.

The younger Winchester brother turns to Donna's friend. "What she means is, we think it might be something else."

He watches as the blonde girl tilts her head, curious.

"Like what?"

Ignoring the look Juliet is giving him, Sam continues. He has a feeling her can trust this woman.

"Honestly? We don't know yet. But we don't want it to happen to anyone else. That's the truth."

The blonde woman looks between the three hunters, there's a pause in the air as she eyes all three of them, trying to see if anyone of them is lying.

Dean looks at the blonde with an eyebrow raised.

"So, if you gonna scream, go right ahead."

Juliet looks between the two Winchester brother's before looking back to the blonde, a deadpan look on her face.

"Again, I don't care. Scream if you want."

The blonde teen continues to look between the three before raising a quizzical eyebrow.

"Who are you guys, cops?"

Sam looks over his left shoulder and eyes Dean and Juliet, not knowing what to say. Dean nods his head in reply. "Something like that."

"I'll tell you what-" Juliet watches as Sam reaches into his pocket. "-here." Her brown eyes watch as he pulls out a piece of paper and a pen. She eyes him as he starts to write his cell number down before passing it to the blonde. "If you think of anything, you or your friends notice anything strange, out of the ordinary...just give us a call."

The blonde woman takes the piece of paper, with Sam's cell number on it, from the younger but taller Winchester brother before watching as the three hunters and five year old walk away and down the stairs. She does a double take as Harlow's little green eyes narrow at her as she passes. The five year old continues to glare at her until she's no longer in sight.

The blonde teen winces at her earlier comment, with a sigh the blonde teen is quick to run after the small family.

"Wait."

Dean, Juliet and Sam turn around at the sound of the teen's voice.

Juliet raises an eyebrow at her.

"What?"

The blonde teen winces once more before bringing her right hand to the back of her neck, rubbing it.

"I, uh, I wanted to apologize for earlier. I shouldn't have told your daughter to shut up. I'm sorry. It's just Donna's been through a lot and I was just being defensive."

The three hunters share a look between one another before Juliet clears her throat.

"I accept your apology, but ever talk to my daughter like that again and I won't be as forgiving."

The blonde teen nods her head and sighs when Juliet gives her a small smile.

"What's your name?"

The teen smiles.

"Charlie."

Juliet nods her head, "I'll be seeing you 'round, Charlie."

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

The three hunters, along with an asleep Harlow in Dean's arms, make their way to the library.

Juliet looks up at the dark clouds in the sky before turning to her boyfriend and best friend, making sure to speak in a soft voice. "Not to judge you both or anything, but I hate you both for dragging me out to a library with the sky looking like that. I mean, look at the clouds, it looks like it's going to rain. I could be in a warm motel room with Bon Jovi playing while reading a book. Don't get me wrong, I like doing research as much as the next person, but there is something called sleep."

Sam and Dean roll their eyes before the latter of the two grabs Juliet's hand with his free one as Harlow is still asleep on his shouler.

"C'mon, Jules. The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can book a room at a motel."

Juliet sighs but reluctantly follows after the two brother's, not really having a choice since Dean's only free hand is holding hers.

Still making their way to the library, Dean turns to his brother and girlfriend.

"All right, say Bloody Mary really is haunting this town. There's gonna be some sort of proof--Like a local woman who's died nasty."

Sam looks to his older brother, "Yeah but a legend this widespread it's hard. I mean, there's fifty versions of who she actually is." Juliet nods her head, agreeing with Sam. "Sam's right. I mean, in one legend she's a witch, and in another, she's a mutilated bride, and there's even one legend where she is a tudor who had her head cut off."

Both Winchester brother's stop in their tracks and turn to the brunette. Both of their eyesbrows raised in a 'really?' look.

Juliet looks to the two and shrugs. "What? Somebody told me it as a kid, and to be honest I like that version better."

The two brother's shake their heads in unison.

Dean sighs as they walk through the library doors.

"All right so what are we supposed to be looking for?"

Juliet rolls her eyes as Sam gives his older brother a look. "Every version's got a few things in common. It's always a woman named Mary, and she always dies right in front of a mirror." Juliet sighs, "So that means, we gotta search the local newspapers--public records as far back as they go."

Sam nods his head, "Yeah. We gotta see if we can find a Mary who fits the bill."

Dean looks around at all the books and articles in the library before turning to Juliet and Sam with a look on his face.

"Well that sounds annoying."

Sam shakes his head, "No it won't be bad as long as we..."

Juliet looks up at Sam as he trails off. She looks to where he is looking and sighs as all the library computers are out of order.

"You were saying, Sammy?"

Her brown eyes snap back up to Sam's tall frame. He chuckles humourlessly. "I take it back. This will be very annoying."

Juliet pats him on the back, "Yeah it will. We better start getting to work."

Juliet and Dean head to a table in the library as Sam goes to ask a librarian for all the records they have on a woman called Mary.

Juliet watches as Dean gently sets Harlow down on a plastic chair. He then takes a seat in the one next to her as Juliet takes a seat in the chair next to his.

There's a pause in the air as they wait on Sam to come back with something that can give them some sort of lead.

After a beat, Dean turns to Juliet.

"I'm sorry for snapping at you earlier."

Juliet turns to Dean, her eyebrows dipped in a furrow.

"Why?"

Dean turns to her witha curious look on his face.

"Why what?"

"Why did you snap at me?"

Dean sighs before deciding to come clean to Juliet.

"I feel like something's up with you. I mean, Jules whenever dad is mentioned, you close off and you become silent. Is there something you're not telling me? Did he say something to you before he left? I won't be angry if he did. You know you can always talk to me, right?"

And just like that, Juliet's whole world comes crashing down. She sometimes forgets that Dean can read her like a book but what can she say? The truth? John would kill her. So, she opts to go down a different route. She plasts a smile on her face and turns to her boyfriend.

"I'm fine, really. I just really want to find John like you and Sam do. I don't know, I guess I've not been myself, I'm worried about him, Dean."

The green-eyed hunter nods his head, "I know you are, Jules. We all are, but I promise you, we'll find him and bring him home, wherever he is, we'll find him." There's a pause between the two as Dean takes a moment to analyze his girlfriend's face once more, trying to see if there's any tell tale signs that she's holding anything else back. He tilts his head at her as his eyes meet hers. "And he definitely didn't say anything to you before he left?"

Juliet swallows the lump in her throat as she nods her head with a faux smile on her face.

"He didn't say anything."

Juliet holds back from saying the word 'Promise' as she knows that she can't do that, she can't lie and promise in the same breath. She knows that what she's doing isn't fair on either Winchester brother and it definitely isn't fair on Harlow, but she doesn't dwell on it for long as Dean's voice brings her out of her thoughts.

"I love you."

A smile, real smile, lights up Juliet's face as she leans in and kisses Dean. She breaks away from the short and sweet kiss with the smile still pulling at her lips.

"I love you too."

It's then Sam reappears with boxes on top of boxes of stuff containing file records and articles on any woman named Mary. He lifts an eyebrow as he sees Dean's left arm wound around Juliet's shoulders. A hint of a smile pulls at his lips, glad that the two have made up from that little spat that they had earlier.

The taller Winchester brother looks down at his brother and best friend.

"I hope you guys are ready, we have a lot to look through."

Juliet just sighs as Dean rubs her back.

โ€ข โ€ข โ€ข

Juliet lays on her and Dean's bed as the said Winchester brother sits at the motel table, doing research. Juliet is reading through the police's death reports on her laptop, keeping an eye out for the name Mary. Her brown eyes glance to an asleep Harlow, who lays next to her, curled up in a ball and softly snoring with 'Ellie the Elephant' held tightly in her hands. The mother coo's at her daughter, wondering what she's dreaming about in that little head of hers.

Sam whimpering in his sleep, brings her out of her thoughts. The huntress looks to Dean, both of them sharing a look before they turn their heads back to Sam's whimpering figure. The younger but taller Winchester brother flashes his eyes open. He flicks his green eyes to both his brother and best friend before letting out a sigh. "Why'd you let me fall asleep?" Dean, still looking concerned for his little brother, is quick to reply. "Cause I'm an awesome brother. So what did you dream about?"

Juliet rolls her eyes at Dean. "Maybe you coulda phrased that better, hon." Dean tilts his head from side to side, thinking on her words before shaking his head and looking back to his brother. "So?"

Sam gives him a deadpan look.

"Lollipops and candy canes."

Dean snorts, not believing his brother's words.

"Yeah, sure."

Sam then notices that both hunters are doing research.

"Did you both find anything?"

Dean scoffs, "Oh besides a whole new level of frustration?"

Sam sits up in his bed as Dean continues, "No. I've looked at everything." Sam nods his head before flicking his eyes to Juliet. "You find anything, Jules?" The brunette glances down at her laptop before looking back to Sam and shaking her head, "Nope...well, apart from a few local women, a Laura and a Catherine commited suicide in front of a mirror. Oh, and a giant mirror fell on a guy named Dave, but apart from that, no Mary."

Sam sighs as he falls back on the bed, "Maybe we just haven't found it yet." Juliet perks up as she remembers a bit of information that she had left out. "I've also been searching for strange deaths in the area, y'know, the eyeball bleeding, the usual."

Sam looks to Juliet.

"And?"

The huntress sighs, "And there's nothing."

Dean sighs, "Maybe it just ain't Mary."

Juliet gives her boyfriend a look as her phone starts to ring. The brown-haired huntress furrows her eyesbrows as she picks up her phone and looks at the screen, it's a number she doesn't recognise. The huntress answers it anyway.

"Hello? Who is this?"

"It's Charlie. I need you guys, something's happened."

Juliet furrows her eyebrows, "Okay, just take a breath, all right? Meet us at the park that's a block or two away from the red star Motel. We'll meet you and talk there, okay?"

Juliet can hear Charlie's sniffles on the other end of the line before her voice cracks.

"Okay."

Juliet then puts the phone down. She turns to Sam and Dean, both of them giving her curious looks. She flicks her eyes to each Winchester brother before answering their silent question.

"It was Charlie. Something's happened, something bad by the sound of her voice. I said we'll meet her at the park that's like a twenty minute drive from here."

Dean nods his head at that last part before going over to Harlow and gently waking her up.

"C'mon, Harls. We're going to the park."

At the mention of the park, the five year olds eyes snap open and she looks to her father. "Pawk?" Dean nods his head. "Yeah, come on. Let's get your shoes on." The hunter lifts his daughter out of bed before setting her on the ground and getting her shoes. The little Winchester yawns and rubs her eyes in tiredness as Dean helps her put her shoes on her feet.

Juliet looks to Sam, a thought crossing her mind.

"What I wanna know is, how'd she get my call number?"

Juliet gives Sam a look when he looks at her sheepishly.

"I may or may not have written it down instead of my one."

"Sammy."

"What? I know you Juliet, when someone needs help you'll be there for them even if they have pissed you off."

Juliet smiles a small smile as she knows that Sam is right.

"Come on. We better get going otherwise Charlie will be wondering where we are."

Author's note

Hi guys, that's a wrap for 'Bloody Mary' part two. I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter! One more part to this episode until I begin writing episode 'Skin' which is once again, one of my favorite episodes from season one. I think it's safe to say that all episodes from season 1 have a place in my heart but with the episode 'Skin' there's going to be angst, angst and more angst, especially with shifter Dean...

Also, thank you all for 1K votes on this book.

Personally, I think I'm a sucky author and my work isn't that great but still, thank you so much! When I first started writing I thought my books wouldn't get any votes let alone 1K and also I have 36K readers on this book as well, it's just wow. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I'm glad you guys enjoy the book so much and are here to witness this milestone with me.

As always, please don't forget to comment and vote and I'll see you all in the next chapter.

Until then...
