Chapter Seventy Four

Kamakura

It was late at night when Kyoko noticed an anomaly in the gardens. She had not found sleep, ever since Fuyutsuki returned, unconscious and near certain death. Her adopted son, Rickon, who had gone by an alias, had stayed awake as well; the child is currently sitting under the sacred tree.

"You should be in bed, you won't grow as tall as Robb if you don't," she remarked, approaching the boy.

"I couldn't sleep. Tsuki is awake, and slowly starting to walk again, but..." The disguised wolf paused when he noticed the surroundings start to brighten.

Looking up, he found the leaves of that giant cherry tree glowing pinkish. The breeze picked up, as an unusual aura filled the air. If the child was to describe it, he would compare this atmosphere to that of a ceremony in front of the Old Gods back home.

"Mr. Hayate!?" gasped Rickon, who quickly went closer to see his former master land on the ground. The giant cro nodded, gesturing for Kyoko to take the sleeping Arya from his back. Dreamfyre flew a short distance away from her master, admiring the surroundings

"And Arya's here too!" the young pup exclaimed.

"Shhh, your sister is resting. " Kyoko reminded him.

Rickon bowed, recalling how much of a terror Arya was when forcibly woken from her sleep. He was not keen on being chased and tickled by his elder sister, especially in Kamakura.

" It's time for bed, littlest wolf, " Kyoko said.

" I'm not tired, " Rickon grumbled. " Besides, I can't sleep. I can't stop thinking about that assassin. " I'm afraid if I close my eyes someone will disarm me, Ser Jaime always said the best swordsmen should sleep with one eye open.

" You don't need to worry if I recall, you were the one who pushed that man off the balcony. "

"It was self-defense!" the young pup defended, putting his hands in the air as if he was surrendering to someone.

"You won't understand now, but killing can be necessary for survival. I've had my fair share of murders. "

She was not sure if she should share that with a boy, but it seemed to have taken the fear out of Rickon. The young lad ran off to the palace, his mind now at peace.

He found himself standing by the sacred tree, now a little taller than before. His special sword was tied to his waist, his long-sleeved garb blown in the winter breeze. The brown dye that once colored his hair was gone. He was prepared to leave his fake name behind, but a hand stopped him from touching the tree trunk.

Turning around, he spotted a small figure that had a striking resemblance to the empress. The young Stark found himself smiling and stroked the lad's hair.

"
ほら、空に倧きγͺι³₯が!" (Look, there's a big bird in the sky!)

The lad was slightly mistaken. From afar, it truly looked like some bird. Up close, however, it was a very different story...

Rickon woke up with a start. He had recalled that his sister had dragons, but what were the odds of one of them coming to Kamakura?

Only the old gods knew.

King's Landing

Tyrion sat at one of the chairs at the Tower of the Hand' glaring at everyone else present at the meeting. As usual, Tywin sat at the head of the table but today's gathering was special. Joffrey was present along with his mother the queen. Euphraise would not enjoy this, he mused. Lady Tyrell, er Lannister despised those meetings because Tywin would do anything and everything to silence her.

The meeting started with Joffrey informing them about the dragon queen and the queen of ice and fire and how they needed to take care of them. The clever lion almost wanted to smirk at the fearful look on his nephew's face." Like their dragons, Targaryens answered to no one but themselves" he mused.

" Where did you hear this from? " Tywin asked, glancing up at his nephew."

" Is it true? " Joffrey questioned, staring at his grandfather curiously.

" Apparently so, " Tywin said.

" Do you think we ought to do something about this? " Joffrey asked.

" The last dragons died hundreds of years ago, there are no more left alive, " Tywin replied. " These are just rumors, nothing more.

"Are you certain? From what I've heard, those rumors have some weight to them. " the king argued. Tyrion was impressed. It seemed like Joffrey was honing his debating skills.

"They're nothing, my sweet. How can dragons come back to life when the magic of the world has all but disappeared?" Cersei replied.

"I did some reading last night. It turns out that Kamakura has a sacred tree that houses the nation's spirits like the weirwoods do for the North. How do you explain that, Mother?"

"The Kamakurans are heretics, grandson. Why bring them up now?"

"I recalled Myrcella's warnings from a few months back. We could sway them to our side: forgive the ailing Ser Sugawara and deal with the Starks. "

"That would be unwise. Your little sister has betrayed us by daring to promise herself to a Dornish scumbag."

"The Martells can still be swayed to our cause. Just say that the Mountain acted of his own accord."

"An excuse which they are not going to believe, little cub. " Tywin clarified, agitated not by Joffrey, but by the Martells.

"Ahem, we should start with our meeting. Today, we shall discuss the upcoming royal wedding. "

Cersei placed a palm on her forehead, appalled by the topic. The men in the room, sans Tyrion, seemed to enjoy dismissing all of her suggestions. She was the Queen Mother, for the Seven's sake!

"I would like to commission the goldsmith to craft a crown for me, with a stag's horns decorated with roses. Margaery would be pleased. "

"I see that our King has gained an appreciation for his bride-to-be," Varys added, secretly proud. For all of Joffrey's faults, he did not cruelly dismiss the opinions of the people he liked. Cersei however was a different story, as the puppet monarch did not notice his mother's harsh glare.

He suddenly stood up, noticing the time. "I must go see my lady, Grandfather. Perhaps Uncle Tyrion should come, Margaery requested his presence. "

Tywin nodded, watching his grandson leave. Tyrion followed the king out of the room, confused.

"I wonder why the future queen would request our presence," he mumbled.

"You must have done your duties for once, Uncle. You became the lion that you were always meant to be. I'm looking forward to my cousin's arrival." Joffrey replied with a smirk.

"I am no rapist, Joffrey. It's only been three moons since I wed Euphraise."

"And if I order you to put something inside her? "

"You will face a bookshelf. She does not surrender easily."

Tyrion chuckled to himself. If his father ever tried to pull another Tysha trick, he would face the wrath of the Tyrells.

For now, he would play along with his nephew. There was more to the boy than met the eyes.

Elaena and Daenerys were in their tent surrounded by their trustworthy allies., the two dragons stared over the large map in front of them which displayed Yunkai trying to figure out how to take the city without bloodshed.

" I say we should just march and take the city, your graces " Greyworm spoke up. " We have more than enough men to conquer the city.

" What of the slaves that reside there, what if they are caught in the bloodshed? " Samara spoke up. " We came here to help them, if we conquer the city with violence, innocents will die."

" What do you suggest we do then, Lady Samara?" Daenerys asked, glancing at the sorceress.

" I think we should have a diplomatic discussion with them, " Samara answered.

" The wise masters of Yunkai aren't known for bending; they are too proud to do so, " Ser Barrister said.

" Then we will break their pride, " Daenerys said. "

" Maybe we should offer them surrender terms, " Elaena suggested.

" You wish to spare them, " Daenerys asked, glancing over at her niece.

" I wish to resolve this without bloodshed, " Elaena replied. " Violence isn't always the answer and sometimes for their resolution to occur, peace talks are needed. "

The mother of dragons sighed, knowing her niece was somewhat right. Yet, wasn't comfortable with letting the wise masters live for they could be back one day again and attack them when their backs are turned.

" We didn't come here to be conquerors, " Elaena said."We came here to help these people and grant them a better life than what they have been given".

" And if they don't agree to our terms, what then? "Daenerys asked. " Do we wait around and wait for these slave masters to attack us?"

" No offense, your grace but this isn't Westeros " Jorah spoke up. " Honor will do nothing but get you killed, as you well know it cost your late lord father! life."

Elaena's eyes widened in anger at hearing those words escape from the disgraced exile's mouth. She took a deep breath before speaking again, determined not to let him get under her skin.

" I know that Ser Jorah, " Elaena responded. " I am just suggesting we try a little diplomacy first instead of violence, I mean what's the harm in that? Word had it that the most long-standing alliances were made through the pen and tongues, not with swords. "

" We are here to help these people, "Samara said. " If we conquer the city with violence we'll be showing them we are no different than their masters."

" They are children that reside in the city, " Elaena pointed out.

Daenerys sighed, agreeing with her niece's words that she didn't want to take the chance of innocent children getting caught in the crossfire. As a mother herself, she was not big on seeing innocent children get hurt because of warfare and didn't want to be the cause of it.

The mother of dragons glanced over at Ser Barristean wanting to hear his input on the manner. " What do you think we should do.? "

" Your graces, I am hardly equipped to decide this. " Ser Barristean said.

" Nonsense, you are one of the bravest great knights that this world has ever seen, " Elaena said. " We wish to hear your input."

" Well, your graces I think you should offer the wise master surrender terms " Ser Barristean replied. " You don't always need a sword to win a battle, encouraging words can do the trick."

" I agree with that, " Daenerys said. " We will offer them a chance to surrender willingly and without bloodshed."

" And if they do not, Khaleesi? " Jorah asked. " What if this is a trap?"

" We will make them bend the knee, " Daenerys said, fiercely." Just as we made those in Astapor and New Ghis do the same."

She ordered Grey Worm and a couple of unsullied soldiers to ride our first thing in the morning to the gates of Yunkai demanding their immediate surrender.

Elaena glanced over at Jolothan and said, "Could you please tell the men to be ready and on stand guard."

" Yes, your grace, " Jolothan replied, with a bow. " We will be ready as quicksand.

" Thank you, my friend " Elaena smiled.

Jolothan walked out of the tower along with the other Ghiscari soldiers, Greyworm followed behind him along with his men.

" Khaleesi, this isn't a wise idea " Jorah warned.

" I fully have faith in Ser Barristan here " Daenerys responded.

" And if the plan backfires, what then? " Jorah asked.

" We will take the city then and kill every last one of them " She replied.

" Hopefully, it won't have to come to that, " Elaena mumbled.

" Yes, let's hope these wise masters accept our terms, " Daenerys said.

" They are never going to bend the knee to you, " Cadal said.

" The wise masters are unbreakable, " Andros said. " They are very prideful men that will never give up on their treasures."

" Who are you, again? " Daenerys asked, glancing at the two men curiously.

" Forgive us, your grace, my name is Andros of Braavos, " Andros said, with a bow.

" And, I am Cadal of Braavos, your grace, " Cadal said, bowing.

" I met them in Pentos when I was pregnant, " Elaena said."They are very skilled swordsmen and are very knowledgeable when it comes to certain areas.

" Ah, I thought I heard of you two before somewhere, " Ser Barristean smiled. " Two of the best fighters of the golden company you have here your grace.

" Really, " Daenerys said, amused.

" We are not near as talented as you, Ser Barristean, " Cadal said.

" Why, thank you, " Ser Barristean said.

" Golden company, huh? " Jorah asked, his eyes glancing at the two men in suspicion. " You are quite kind to pledge your service to the Khalessi and princess here for free without asking for payment of coins. Most soldiers would ask for that first before agreeing to fight for a cause.

" We are no longer a part of the golden company, Ser Jorah, " Andros replied. " We retired years ago.

" Really, " Jorah questioned. " Isn't a soldier's oath for life?

" Ser Jorah, what are you trying to say? " Elaena asked.

" No disrespect, your grace, " Jorah said. " But, doesn't it seem suspicious that two soldiers would pledge to your cause without asking for payment?

" We aren't like most soldiers, " Cadal defended. " We pledge our cause to her grace here because she is a worthy, good queen we would follow any day. "

" I trust them with my life, I would not bring them here if I didn't, " Elaena said.

" If you trust them then I do as well, I trust your judgment, " Daenerys said, glancing at her niece softly.

" But, Khaleesi " Jorah tried to say, but was cut off by Daenerys.

" The matter is final, " Daenerys said, sternly. "Besides if they ever betray us, I'll burn them."

Samara glanced over at the mother of dragons sensing the determination and fierceness in her eyes. " Going to have to watch out for her."

" As I would expect from a mighty dragon like yourself, your grace, " Andros said, with a fake smile.

Cadal on the other hand wasn't amused, he glanced at the young dragon in shock at what he was hearing. "Like father, like daughter.

"As I said before, I trust them, " Elaena said, glancing at her two friends.

" If you say, niece, " Daenerys said.

_____________

In Norvos, a certain young red wolf was in her chambers writing a letter until she heard her chamber door open, she turned her head around and saw a familiar figure standing
there.

" Little Bird".

Sansa's eyes widened in shock at what she was seeing in front of her eyes.

" Sandor, " Sansa said in a whisper tone.
