Chapter Ninity Eight
βββββββΰΌΊ - ΰΌ»βββββββ
In the skies above, Lavinia Velayron and her older brother Esmomd were soaring high above in the clouds on their respective dragons Ryphyrra and Seafyre. Ryphyrra, a medium-sized pink dragon with blue wings, flew alongside Seafyre, a large-sized light blue dragon with orange wings.
As they soared through the skies, Lavinia and Esmomd noticed the distinct shape of Driftmark in the distance. They veered off course and flew towards the island, landing on its sandy shores. However, as soon as they touched the ground, they saw their mother, Queen Athalia standing there with her arms crossed over her chest gazing at them in disappointment
'' Mother.'' The two siblings said, dismounting off Ryphrra and Seafyre facing their mother with a bright smile.
Queen Athalia looked at her children sternly, her eyes narrowing slightly. "You two know better than to leave without informing me or your father where are you going. " she scolded. "What were you thinking?"
Esmond shook his head. '' I don't see what the issue is we just went out for a ride nothing more.''
'' What if someone would saw you?'' Athalia questioned her son, her eyebrows perking up. Do you have any idea what would happen if anyone outside of Drifrtmark learned that Dragons have come back into the world? The last thing we need is people coming here snooping around.
'' And, would that be such a bad thing?'' Lavinia asked.
Queen Athalia turned her head towards her daughter, her expression softening slightly. "Lavinia, you know the risks involved. The dragons were killed and hunted to near extinction during the Targaryen reign. We cannot let anyone know that they still exist."
Lavinia nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I know, mother. But it's not fair that we have to hide them away like they're some kind of shameful secret.
Athalia sighed, placing a hand on Lavinia's shoulder. "I understand how you feel, my dear. But we must protect them at all costs. The world is not ready for their return just yet. We must bide our time and wait for the right moment to reveal them."
'' Well. it seems we aren't the only dragon riders left in the world.'' Esmond spoke up, gaining their attention. Esmond's comment piqued Athalia and Lavinia's interest. "What do you mean?" Lavinia asked, her eyes widening in surprise.
Esmond took a deep breath. "I mean, there are others out there who ride dragons, just like us. I've heard rumors that there are two Targaryens out there who have tamed dragons of their own - Daenerys Stormborn and Elaena Icefyre."
Athalia's eyes widened in shock. "The last Targaryens? I thought they were all gone!"
Esmond nodded. "That's what we thought too. But apparently, they're still out there, somewhere. And they're not the only ones. There are reports of another Targaryen named Young Griff who is claiming to be Aegon Targaryen the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Ella Martell
'' That's impossible everyone knows Tywin Lannister ordered the deaths of Rhaenys and Little Aegon along with their mother,'' Lavinia said.
'' Yes, what a gruesome sight that was that day,'' Athalia mumbled.
Esmond and Lavaina turned to their mother. '' You were there that day at the siege.''
Athalia nodded. '' Yes, I was one of Princess Ella's ladies-in-waiting at that time.'' Your uncle Lucerys Vealyron was serving as Master of Ships on the small council before he died.
'' And Robert Baratheon spared you?' Esmond asked.
'' Not at first, he wanted to execute me and your uncle claiming he didn't wish for any more Valyria spawns roaming around the seven kingdoms,'' Athalia replied. But, your father had threatened him with war if he were to touch a single hair on my hair. Robert was no fool; he knew he couldn't afford another war so he freed me but banished me from ever returning to King's Landing.
'' Is that why we can't leave Driftmark ?' Lavinia asked.
Queen Athalia nodded. '' Yes, it's much safer for us to remain here than to adventure out into the wild.'' They must always be a Vealycon on the Driftmark Throne at all times.
Esemond gazed at his mother deeply. '' We can't hide out from the world forever, mother.'' One day we're going to have to face it head-on.
'' When you are older you can explore the world as much as you like, but for now, you will remain in Driftmark,'' Athalia said, sternly.
Lavinia let out a sigh, tired of being trapped. "But what about the dragons, mother? They deserve to be free and fly wherever they want, not just be confined to Driftmark."
Athalia gazed at her daughter deeply. '' It is in the best interest they remain here with us on Driftmark rather than roaming free around the world where they can be killed or captured.'' A dragon is worth more than an army.
Esmond nodded in agreement. '' As much as I hate to admit this, mother is right.'' It's not safe for them to be roaming around. "There's another rumor I've heard, one that worries me even more. It's said that Euron Greyjoy, the infamous Ironborn pirate, is sailing to the ruins of Old Valyria in search of dragon eggs."
Athalia's eyes widened in shock, "That's a dangerous game he's playing. The Valyrian ruins are cursed, and any who venture there risk being consumed by the flames that still burn beneath the earth."
" What if he finds a dragon binder?' Lavinia said.' Rumor has it that there may be one left scattered out in the ruins of Valyria. If Euron Greayjoy gets his hands on it he'll be able to control any dragon to his will.
'' We needn't worry over it,'' Athalia said. I've cast a protection spell on the Dragons, guarding their minds and emotions.
'' A dragon binder is a powerful object mother created by the Dragonlords of Valyria, a spell won't be able to protect them from its power!.'' Esmond exclaimed.
'' And, you two seem to forget that I am a Valyrian sorceress,'' Athalia replied. The Dragonbinder is a powerful tool, yes but not as powerful as Valyrian Magic.
Esmond and Lavinia gazed at their mother surprised, while they were aware of their mother's unique magical abilities, not knowing she was that gifted.
" Now, enough talk about Euron Greayjoy and his crazy antics," Athalia said. We have far more pressing matters to attend to at the moment. King Tommen Baratheon has written to us and has invited us to the Capital for his coronation.
Lavinia let out a snicker. " Don't you mean Tommen Hill, he is no Baratheon."
" Yeah, he's a product of incest between Queen Cersei and her twin brother Jaime," Esemond mumbled.
" It doesn't matter, he is the new King now. And, from what I hear he is far kinder and wiser than his older brother.
" So, we have to go and see this Bastard get crowned."
" No, you two aren't going," Athalia responded. Your father and I will make an appearance, you will stay here in Driftmark.
Esmond and Lavinia let out protests claiming it was unfair they were forced to stay. " Why can't we go?" They asked, in unison.
" Someone has to stay behind and watch the island." The Queen answered. And, because I said so.
The siblings let out a sign wanting to protest further, but held their tongue. " Yes, mother."
With that, Athalia made her way back inside the castle leaving her sulking children behind. As much as she hated her to see her children upset, she would rather them hate her than put them in harm's way.
'' This is so unfair.'' Lavinia groaned, throwing her hands up in the air. Why can't Mother just stop living in fear all the time?
'' Mother is just trying to protect us,'' Esmond said. Through, it is tiring being stuck on this island all the time.
'' Don't you see Esemond, Mother is never going to let up any time soon.'' The young Vealycon grumbled.
'' It is what it is, sister.'' He said. Might as well get used to it and stop complaining.
The young Vealycon shook her head. '' So, we are to remain trapped here from the rest of the world. That is no life, brother.
The eldest Vealycon gazed at his sister deeply. '' What can we do about it? Mother and Father are never going to let us leave. It is time to face the facts sister, we will always be confined to Driftmark nothing more.
'' Well, that is not going to be my life,'' Lavinia vowed.
Esemond shook his head. '' Good luck with trying to convince mother otherwise.''
Before Lavinia could respond, footsteps approached towards them. The older Vealycon turned around and saw his guard Ser Daeralon standing there. " Your Grace, your father wishes to see you in his solar." Ser Daeralon said.
Esemond nodded making his way back inside the castle, Ser Daeralon following closely behind him leaving his sister standing there.
As she watched her brother and Ser Daeralon walked away, a rush of boldness washed over her. It was about time she took matters in her own hands. She would be damned if she allowed herself to be a prisoner any longer.
The world may be a dangerous place, but you can't let fear control your life. And, that is what Lavinia Vealycon wouldn't do is let fear stop her from doing what she loved.
Meanwhile
" Meraxes, you have to go back," Rickon said, still on the ground, gazing at the young dragon who was standing in front of him pouting.
Meraxes let out a screech and opened his wings loudly, lifting his head at the youngest wolf and gesturing to him to climb on.
" No, I'm staying here, you're going back to Meereen." He said.
But instead of taking no for an answer, the young dragon swung over to the youngest wolf, snagging him with his talon and putting him on his back.
" Meraxes, I'm serious, put me down." The youngest wolf ordered.
Instead of obeying his orders, Meraxes flapped his wings out widely and took off to the skies along with the youngest wolf catching up to his brother and Drogon
It was about time the wolves were reunited together for good.
Rickon held on tightly to Meraxes's wings gasping out as Meraxes began to speed up his movements
"MERAXES, BAD DRAGON!"
Eddarion, Drogon, and Jamerion let out a snort that sounded like a chuckle watching their youngest brother carry on with his shenanigans. " Mother won't be happy with his behavior." They thought.
" Slow down," Rickon said, in a firm tone. Much to his shock, the young dragon listened to him and started to wind down with his movements. Meraxes landed on a rock, gently putting Rickon down. The young wolf, left with no choice, climbs onto the dragon's back, scratching the animal behind his ears.
Meraxes let out a happy screech enjoying the youngest wolf's touch. He turned his head around staring at his master smiling widely, his eyes tinkling with joy.
He gestured his head to the sky where his brothers were flying together.
" Alright, I guess we could try it again." Rickon signed, giving in to the dragon's wishes. "But, please don't drop me or go too fast."
The youngest wolf grabbed tightly onto the dragon's wings and cleared his throat. " Sovos, Meraxes." He ordered, remembering some Valyrian words Hayate had taught him during his lessons.
Meraxes let out a happy roar and flapped his wings open loudly, taking off the skies once more. He soared through the clouds gracefully, his wings extended out. Rickon stared in awe at the marvelous sight in front of him from atop, the sun beamed down on him casting a shadow over him and the land down below him.
With a newly formed confidence, Rickon grabbed onto Meraxes guiding him higher in the skies soaring delicately alongside his brothers.
For the first time in forever, the youngest Stark felt happy and free with himself. After endless months hiding out in Kamakura awaiting another attack by the Lannisters... He was no longer afraid of anything.
Witnessing death and destruction in his eyes had changed him. Everyone will die someday, but what's important is how you are remembered by the people you love.
" You die as a quitter or you could go down fighting." A voice said in his voice.
Rickon Stark would not be known as a quitter, or the young pup, or the wildest wolf. He would be known as ' Yoshiro the Red Samurai, the wildest wolf that overcame his fear.
Eddarion, Drogon, and Jamerion swooped down as the Great Pyramid of Meereen came into view. Rickon grabbed Mearxes's wings directing him downwards following the rest of the dragons.
_____________
On top of the Pyramid, Arya was training with Jaqen who had begun to take a liking to the girl. The faceless man knew he shouldn't get too close to the young she-wolf, but it was hard for him to ignore her especially when she was begging him to teach her some moves.
Seeing as Andros was busy helping Jolothan direct the Ghiscari army and keep track of the man at all times while keeping the city safe.
Arya swung her sword at the faceless man which he easily blocked.
" You have to be quicker than that, lovely girl," Jaquen said.
She took another swing at him, he blocked her attack with his sword and pushed her to the ground. He circled her holding out his sword towards her. " Surrender."
" Never." Arya hissed, flipping up from the ground grabbing her sword wielding it at him.
Their swords began to clash with one another, keeping up with the attacks. Jaqen gazed at the girl, impressed at her skills and sensing something special about her. He couldn't quite tell what it was but knew this girl was unique. For a moment, he saw something akin to a jackal's shadow lurking around, its purple eyes focused on Arya. Jaquen blinked, and the apparition was gone.
Lost in his thoughts, Arya saw this as an advantage and knocked his sword out of his hand causing him to lose balance for a moment, using her leg and kicking his feet from beneath him and bringing him to the ground.
The young she-wolf hovered over him with her sword pointed at his chin. " Yield."
The Faceless Man averted his eyes up at the young girl in shock not expecting to be bested by her. A proud smile formed on his face. " A man yields, lovely girl this time."
Arya removed her sword from her chin and smiled victoriously. She offered him his hand to take which he accepted, which was a rookie mistake on her part for he had all but dragged her to the ground with him.
" Hey, you cheated!" She grumbled.
Jaqen got up from the ground shaking the sand off him and gazing down at the girl. " There is no mercy when it comes to battle." He said, helping her off the ground. You must never turn your guard down on your target.
Arya nodded, shaking the sand off her clothes. " Well, I still put you to the ground."
" Yes, you did," Jaqen said. "But don't expect it to happen for a second time."
The young she-wolf raised her eyebrows in question." Is that a challenge I hear?"
Jaqen shook his head. " Not a challenge, lovely girl." More of a promise."
Arya was about to respond but was cut off by loud screeches. She looked up and saw Meraxes, Eddarion, Drogon, and Jamerion flying towards her and Jaqen. Much to her shock, she saw Rickon atop Meraxes gliding in the sky gracefully.
" Rickon!" She yelled out.
Rickon caught sight of Arya and a red-haired man standing atop the Pyramid. " Land, Meraxes." He ordered, directing him lower. Meraxes swooped down lower descending towards the Pyramid.
The youngest wolf held on tightly as the dragon landed gently to the ground, causing a gush of sand to sweep in the air. Rickon dismounted from Meraxes, his legs still tingling a bit after his thrill ride. He turned to his sister gazing at her with a smile. " You will never believe what just happened."
Jaqen raised his eyebrows at the young wolf's rather unique attire. His loose, Brown trousers and white undershirt were sticky with sweat, topped by a lavender "jacket" that looked more like this cloth that Fuyutsuki used to cover the patterns of his kimono. Arya smirked and started laughing. "That haori isn't yours, is it?"
"Is that how you greet me, sister?" Rickon retorted with a small pout. Jaquen let out a wheeze, before catching himself laughing. "Ahem, my apologies. A man didn't mean to interrupt a touching moment between reunited siblings."
Arya's laughter grew louder, the lass clutching her stomach in glee. "A girl doesn't mind."
"Huh? What's gotten into you, Arya?"Rickon questioned.
"Don't mind me; I was just messing around. By the way, you should see Elaena; she has missed you, and Sansa too!"
"Sansa?" The youngest wolf said, in a surprised tone. She's here, I thought she went to Dorne with Lady Mellario.
'' She wanted to stay close to us.'' The young she-wolf answered.
Before Rickon could respond, footsteps approached them and turned around seeing Samara standing in front of him. '' Sorry to interrupt, your sister...'' The Sorceress was about to say it until she noticed the youngest wolf standing there.
" Rickon, what are you doing here?" Samara asked. Is Fuytuskui here?
" Well, it's a long story." The youngest wolf answered. But, Karmakura was almost invaded by the Lannisters.
" WHAT!" Arya exclaimed.
" Yeah, but don't worry Haycate and Fuytuski showed up and
wiped out the fleet completely with the help of Eddarion,Drogon and Jamerion. " He said. Also, I have a baby brother.
" Is Kyoko alright?" Samara asked. Fuytuskui finally has an heir.
Rickon nodded. " Mother is fine, she is still recovering but will live.
" Mother?" Arya inquired, raising her eyebrows up in confusion. You do know that she's not your mother, right?
" Blood doesn't make a family, sister." He commented.
" You're a Stark, not a Sugawara." Arya reminded him.
" Yes, I know that." He mumbled. But, the Sugawara are like family to me. They took me in as one of their one, Kyoko has been nothing but a mother to me.
" Well, I'm glad that you are home, littlest wolf." Samara said, cutting in breaking the tension. Elaena and Sansa will be so happy to see you.
The Sorceress lifted her gaze up and noticed a man standing next to Arya. Her eyes widened in shock putting the pieces together, she could tell those blue eyes from anywhere no one had light eyes as that except for a certain faceless man she met.
" Jaqen."
Jaqen turned his gaze on the Sorceress and smiled playing it co. " Yes, Lady Samara. Is everything alright, does the Queen wish to see me.
Samara eyed him up and down wondering why he was acting so weird. " What is a man doing here?"
Arya glanced between the two lost. " You two know each other."
Jaqen nodded. " Yes, I believe we met when your Queen freed me from my captor. "
As Samara was about to speak a loud rumbling came from the youngest wolf's stomach. " I'm hungry. Is there any food around here besides fish?" Rickon asked.
" Good luck trying to find any good meat around here." Arya grumbled.
" I'm sure the Chefs can cook you up something to your liking." Samara said. Come, let's all head inside. It's far too hot out here.
" But, I'm not done with my lesson." The young she-wolf groaned. A man here owes me another round.
" A girl should take a break." Jaqen advised. A man must attend to his duties.
With that, the Faceless man turned around leaving them standing there.
" Is it just me or is that guy weird?" Rickon asked.
" He is not weird, he's just different, that's all." Arya said. You see him in action. He's the most skilled soldier here the way he moves reminds me of my old Bravvos water instructor.
" Syrio." Samara inquired.
Arya nodded. " Yeah, I know it's crazy but it's almost like Jaqen is his doppelganger or something.
The Sorceress shook her head wondering why Jaqen was here, was he here to kill someone? Of course he is, he's a faceless man, death is his speciality. But, who was his target? Was it Elaena?
All these thoughts kept piling over in her head until she was cut off by the sound of Rickon's voice. " Samara."
" Yes."
" Are you alright?" He asked.
The Sorceress nodded. " Yes, I'm just tired." Anyway, we should go see your sister. I'm sure she will want to know that you are here.
Samara, Rickon and Arya made their way back to the Great Pyramid, their feet digging in the sand as they did. As they approached the entryway, Samara couldn't help but feel uneasy about Jaqen's presence here.
Entering the Throne room of the Great Pyramid they were greeted by some Ghiscari soldiers who stood in front of them blocking them. They lifted their gaze on the young boy by the Sorceress' side.
" Who's the boy?" One of the soldiers inquired.
" His name is Rickon Stark of Winrerfell he is the Queen's youngest brother." Samara answered. I am sure you don't want to turn away the Queen's family.
" Our apologies, Lady Samara." Another soldier said. You may pass.
The soldiers moved to the side clearly a way from them to pass. " Thank you." Samara said, walking past them.
" Wow, they're quite protective." Rickon commented.
"And loyal, which is the type of soldiers we need now." Arya said.
The three made their way down a hallway until stopping in front of a door where they were greeted by two Unsullied soldiers. " State your business."
" We wish to see the Queens." The Sorceress answered.
" They are in a meeting now, it will have to wait." They said.
Arya on the other hand didn't accept that as an answer and walked towards them. " Look, my brother here has finally returned home to us after being away for a long time. My sister will want to see him. So either let us in or I'll barge in myself.
The two Unsullied guards exchanged looks at one another before moving to the side letting them past.
Arya, Samara and Rickon entered the room, where they found themselves in the middle of a chaotic meeting.

Elaena was standing next to Daenerys rereading over the letter that was sent to them by an unknown man named Young Griff who was claiming to be Aegon Targaryen the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Elia Martell.
To Elaena and Daenerys Targaryen of House Targaryen
I was in quite shock to learn I wasn't the only Targaryen left in the world. For years, I have been wandering through the free cities of Essos thinking I was alone, but now I realized that was false.
I am currently in Braavos now building my armies up and will soon sail to Westeros to take back the Iron Throne. I ask that you two join me in this fight, help me restore House Targaryen to its proper Glory.
Furthermore, I have written to you today for a proposal in mind that may restore our House to its proper way. Elaena, with your skilled skills on the battlefield you possess the strength of a true Targaryen. And you, Daenerys with your conquest and dragons.
I humble ask for your hands in marriage, Elaena and for you Daenerys to become my co-queens. Together, we are the three headed dragon that will fulfill our ancestor's dream in bringing the song of ice and fire together.
I pleaded with you two to think about this offer, I would hate to have to be on opposite sides.
I await your response, my Queens and hope you take my offer seeing the potential this alliance has. It has been too long since the Dragons have been away, it's time for us to make our return to Westeros and take back what is ours.
Sincerely
Aegon Targaryen of House Targaryen, Twelve of his name, The Unburnt, King of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, Lord of Dragonstone, Prince of Dorne, The Dragon Conqueror and Father of a Dragon.
" He thinks we are some brooding mares he can use about." Daenerys hissed.
" I wouldn't pay no mind to it, your Graces." Ser Barristean spoke up. For all we know this Young Griff can be a pretender.
" It is well known that Rhaegar and Elia's son was murdered at the hands of the Mountain." Elaena said. There is no way he could've survived. If he did, why didn't he reach out sooner? Why is he reaching out now?
" Rumors have been spreading around about this Young Griff." Darrio said. And apparently he seems to be the real deal.
Daenerys turned her gaze on her swordsmen. " What do you mean?"
" They say he is Aegon the conqueror reborn." Darrio answered.
Daenerys scoffed. " Conqueror of what?
" He has a lot of support in Braavos, the people love him there." He replied. He has the Golden company support and the Iron bank has decided to fund his campaign offering him ships.
" The Iron Bank?" Ser Barristean questioned. Why in the gods would they lend out money to a boy who probably is just a commander who is claiming to be something he isn't.
Darrio shook his head. " He has a dragon, it's the size of a ship, maybe even bigger. "
" We have more dragons than he does." Daenerys said.
" That may be true, but he has dragon riders." Darrio said.
" Dragon riders." Sansa questioned. I thought only a Targaryen could ride a dragon.
Daenerys shook her head. " Anyone can ride a dragon, Lady Sansa." Who are these supposed dragon riders you speak of?
" I'm not sure." Darrio mumbled. But, one is a girl and the other is a man who resemble strong Valyrian features like Young Griff does.
" Pretenders nothing more, Khalessi." Jorah said, gazing at his queen.
" Perhaps, they may be distant cousins or secret bastard children of King Omar Vealycon." Elaena suggested.
" House Vealycon is a lower branch house." Daenerys said. I hardly believe they have dragons. Beside, after the dance of the dragon, they were no longer as powerful as it was during King Viserys I reign.
" And King Omar is an honorable man who loves his wife Queen Athalia." Sansa pointed out. I doubt he ever touched another man.
" I honestly think we are wasting our time worrying about white haired brats miles away." Sandor grumbled.
" Ser Clegane is right, we have more pressing matters to worry about." Ser Barristan said. The Great Masters of Yunkai is beginning to revolt again.
" They may be planning an invasion of Meereen soon." Darrio said.
" With what army?" Daenerysasked. We've taken all their allas away, they are defenseless.
" That may not be the case, Khalessi." Jorah said.
Samara, Rickon and Arya were standing at the doorway listening in to the conversation wondering who this Young Griff was. Samara cleared her throat making their presence known. "Sorry to interrupt, but looks who's home."
All eyes landed on them, Elaena and Sansa's eyes welled with tears as they saw their youngest brother standing there. "Rickon," They said in union, making their way towards him pulling him in for a hug.
Rickon smiled, returning the hug. " I didn't think that I was that missed.
" Don't be silly, Rickon." Sansa said.
Daenerys stood there smiling at the reunion. " Welcome home, Rickon.
Rickon turned his gaze on the Dragon queen smiling at her brightly. " Thank you, your Grace."
They all pulled away from one another, separating for a bit.
" What are you doing here?" Sansa asked. Please tell me you didn't run away.
" I didn't Meraxes fly me here." He answered.
" Meraxes, he came to you?" Elaena asked, surprised.
Rickon smiled. " Yeah, it was the craziest thing. Karmakura was almost invaded by The Lannisters and then Fuytuskui and Haycate show up saving the day along with Eddarion, Drogon and Jamerion.
" Drogon, he was there ?" Daenerys questioned, standing there in shock to hear how her black hatchling showed up to the fight.
" Yeah, he wiped out most of the Lannister fleet with his fire with the help of Eddarion and Jamerion!." He exclaimed. Oh, and I have a new baby brother.
" Well, we are glad that you are home with us." Elaena said.
The youngest wolf smiled. " Me as well." I mean Karmakura is a second home to me, but you guys are my first home.
" Does that mean you are staying?" Sansa asked.
" As long as you guys will have me." He said, looking over his sister's shoulders at Daenerys. If that's okay with you, your Grace."
" You can stay as long as you wish." Daenerys said, with a smile.
And so Rickon Stark or in other words Yoshiro Yoshiro the Red Samurai returned to his pack stronger than ever ready to face any challenge or threat that came his way. With the threat of Young Griff and dragon riders looming, the Stargaryens would have to stand united together as one.
