Chapter 1

I wake up to a vibrating noise beside my ear. A small groan passes from my lips as I slowly sit up, an ache going through the lower part of my body. The hand that was wrapped around my waist slips into my lap and I look at my bed partner, still dead to the world.

Fuck, he really went hard last night though it's not like I'm complaining. The vibrating of my phone reminds me that someone is still waiting for me to pick up. I grab it turning the screen over as it lights up the darkness and see my boss calling.

"Jason, what can I do for you at," I pause looking at the time on the screen. "Three in the morning? You know you're disturbing my beauty sleep."

"Do you think I want to be calling you at this time?" he snaps. "I need you to come in right now, there was a fight at a night club and it's not too far from where you live, not a great way to start the new year."

"Fine, give me fifteen minutes and I'll be there," I sigh as I move the blanket off my lap.

"I'm going to try and see if I can reach Nash, he put his phone on silent again," is all he says as cuts the line. I turn off the screen and grab my charger when I feel fingers tugging on my hair.

"I didn't know you were the type to sneak out of bed in the middle of the night," a voice thick with sleep teases.

"Why would I sneak out of my own bed Nash?" I ask as I turn to face him. "That was the Chief, he's calling me to come in right now and you but he couldn't reach you. Text him back and tell him you'll be there," I say to him as I get up from the bed and flick on the bedroom lights to wake him up.

"I'll be up in a second," he says as lounges back against the headboard, his eyes gazing over at my naked body before focusing on his phone as it powers on. I observe him for a moment, his warm dark skin, chiselled face not to mention those rock-hard abs. Wait, I can't go thinking about that.

I shake those thoughts out of my head as I go to the bathroom, only stopping to plug my phone to charge, turn on the shower and start quickly cleaning myself up. I hear the door unlock a couple of minutes later and the curtain opens as another body steps in.

"You couldn't wait?" I ask passing him the soap so he can wash.

"I'd rather avoid getting chewed out for being late," he replies as he lathers himself. I let out a small hum as the last of the soap suds on my body washes off and just as I'm getting out I feel his arms sneak around my waist brushing my skin, his cock pressed against my back as he kisses my neck. "If it weren't for us leaving right now, I'd want to go another round."

"It's a shame you'll have to wait until another time," I reply cooly as I pull his hands off of me and step out of the bath while grabbing my towel. I dry myself quickly before leaving the bathroom, go to my closet to put on a matching lingerie set and then put on the rest of my uniform. I tug on my sweater and fix my uniform pants before walking to my vanity to grab a hair tie.

"You have five minutes to get dressed so we can leave," I tell Nash as he walks inside my room, water trailing down his body. I look away from him so my thoughts don't trail off to the sex we had earlier and I walk past him, stopping to grab my police coat and gun before going to the front door.

"Did Jason text you where we're going?" I hear him call out.

"Yeah, I wonder if the people there got too much alcohol in them and it just clouded their senses," I muse.

"I guess we'll see when we get there," he replies as I grab my car keys and pocket them. "You're not riding with me?" he questions as he ties his boots.

"No way, I'm ninety-five percent sure you'll be working overtime today and I don't want to wait for you to take me home," I replied shaking my head.

"Yeah, you're probably right. It's the first major fight of the year. There's going to be a lot of paperwork plus me looking into what happened," he says as he shrugs on his jacket.

"Exactly, I feel like today is going to be a long day," I tell him as we step out of my home and I lock the door behind me. It's silent as we wait for the elevator and even as we leave the building, both of us in our own thoughts.

"I'll see you at the scene," he tells me as he walks to his car in the visitor's parking lot. "But wait Natalia, I have to ask you something, it's about what I said yesterday about us." I turn away from him as I look at the ground.

"Can we talk about that another time?" I ask him in a quiet voice.

"Yeah, sure, okay," he sighs as I turn to walk to the tenant's side. "Hey, Natalia." I turn around when he calls my name and he gives me a smirk, his hands tucked into his pockets. "Let's see which one of us is the better driver and who will reach the scene first."

"I'll kick your ass," I say pivoting on my heel as his laughter echoes through the darkness. I get into my car starting the engine and pull out of my building taking the backstreets instead of the normal route street routes. It takes me less than five minutes to reach the club and just as I'm parking I see Nash's car stop in front of the club.

"How did you reach here before me?" Nash questions as he steps out of his car. I fix my radio onto the belt of my pants as I wait for him to walk over to where I am.

"This is my neighbourhood, of course I know the shorter routes," I tell him as he steps beside me. "Know who to challenge Nash," I tell him as we flash our badges to the officers standing in front of the yellow caution tape.

"I'll remember that for next time," he says as we walk inside. "Felix, what the fuck happened here?" Nash calls out to a man who's talking to another officer. The whole entrance of the club is filled with shards of glass, broken bottles, spilled alcohol; it's a complete mess.

"You think down here looks bad, you should check the second level, that place is a disaster," he says as he brushes his fluffy brown hair that's falling in front of his eyes.

"Is the Chief up there?" Nash questions.

"Yeah, take the staircase to the right," he points to the side of us. "I'm going to look over the club's security footage." Yes, our resident techie loves his computers more than sleep, what a strange one he is.

"Let's head on up," I tell Nash as I move towards the stairs.

"What do you think we'll find when we get up there?" I hear him ask from behind me.

"Considering Jason nor Felix said anything, who knows," I answer as I open the door to the second floor. There's double the amount of police on the second floor, some I recognize from our division and others I'm guessing from the neighbouring one. All around there's shattered glass, shoes which I guess people lost while they were leaving, and some pools of blood, a lot of it actually.

"Chief, what's the situation here not to mention you look like crap," I tell him as we walk towards him.

"A fight that turned violent. We have two people in custody, both need to be treated by the EMS," Jason sighs. "And do you think I wish to be woken up at three in the morning," he says flicking me on the forehead.

"Was anyone else injured?" I question as I rub the spot he flicked. You probably wouldn't see something like this while on duty but our relationship with the Chief surpasses boss and subordinate, we're close friends, especially after all that happened with his family months earlier.

"No, but we're still checking through the place. It's a pretty big club, three floors and all," he answers.

"I guess the people I drove by when I was coming in here were from the club. I'll go help with the questioning," I say to Jason as I check my pockets for my pen and notepad.

"I'll go see what's happening with the two that are getting treated," Nash tells Jason, his joking mood from moments earlier gone.

"You do that, I have some calls to make, it's going to be a long night," Jason says as he walks away from us. I turn away from Nash going back downstairs and outside into the cold night air, groups of people clustered around watching to see what's happening. I notice two women, both of them looking around in worry, fright on their faces and decide to start questioning them first.

"Hello, I'm Officer Sanchez, do you mind answering some questions about what happened here tonight?" I ask calmly walking up to them.

"We can't find one of our friends, he was supposed to be with us but we haven't seen him," one of the women tells me. "He was acting strange two hours ago and we haven't seen him since."

"Can you tell me his name and description, also both of your names?" I ask her as I note it down.

"I'm  Amelia and this is Cassidy," the woman who's talking to me tells me. "And our friend's name is Derek Williams. He's around five-nine, wearing a black dress shirt and pants. He has dark brown hair, light blue eyes, and really tan skin," she says listing off his characteristics.

"Did you see anything else tonight?" I question.

"No, we didn't see anything else. We just followed everyone else when they were leaving," she answers.

"Alright, we'll contact you if we have any other questions and we'll also check for your friend. He might have gotten out earlier than you two and you all got separated," I tell her as I put my notebook and pen into my pocket.

"Thank you so much officer," they both say to me gratefully.

"You're welcome. You two should head on home, it's a cold January night and I don't think mini-dresses suit the weather," I say pointedly looking at their outfits. They both chuckle before waving goodbye to me as they walk away from the club. I breathe out, the air curling in the cold air as I survey the area. I might as well check behind the club to see if there's anything there since the rest of the officers here have it handled with the rest of the partygoers.

My footsteps crunch in the snow as I walk around the building, a couple of lights shine in the darkness but other than that it looks like no one else besides myself walked here. Just as I'm about to go back around to the front I notice a set of footprints that start from the exit of the club going out into the snow but none going around the building to the street. That's strange.

I walk beside them, taking note of which direction they're going until it stops in a pitch-black corner away from the building's lights. I pull out my flashlight from the hook on my belt, power it on, and shinning it in front of me. I slowly move it until I stop, my light shining on a set of hands.

I shine the light higher and I focus on the man in front of me, his eyes looking vacant and no movement coming from him. The other thing I notice is the dark brown hair, black dress pants and shirt. Since it's cold enough to see our breath in the air, I should be able to see his when he exhales but I don't. My fingers move to the radio at my waist, I lift it up pressing the button in the middle.

"This is Officer Sanchez here, we need a forensics unit to move in here, I found a body."

"How long do you think he was outside," Nash asks me as we watch forensics remove the body from the scene and mark off the area. I had to stop all of them from rushing out and disturbing the weird footprints in the lot.

"I don't think he died from the cold, something just doesn't seem right. The location of where he was found, no injuries that show what happened to him," I point out.

"So what do you think it is?" he asks looking over at me.

"I have an idea but until we hear something from forensics I'll keep it to myself," I say looking back at the team that's working.

"Natalia, you'll be in charge of filling out the paperwork for this," Jason tells me. "They found the man's i.d, it's-"

"Derek Williams right?" I ask interrupting him.

"How did you know?" he asks in confusion.

"I interviewed his two friends. They said they didn't see him for the last two hours," I explain.

"Give the names to Felix so he can check the surveillance and see where they were and if it matches their story," he instructs.

"Got it," I reply as a woman with a forensics jacket walks towards us. Her features light up when she sees Nash.

"Well what are the odds, who would have thought we'd run into one another tonight," she says with an easy grin, brushing back her curly brown hair.

"Aurora, what are the odds, how have you been?" he asks.

"Good but we can catch up later. You still have the same number right, we'll definitely talk later," she says patting his arm though her hands linger on it for a couple of seconds. "For now we have this to work on. Forensics is going to start investigating and hopefully, in the next twelve hours, we can give something to you. Is it okay if I drop our findings later in the day?" she asks looking at Jason.

"Of course, we just want to know what happened," Jason tells her.

"Perfect. I'll see you later Nash," she says with a wink before walking away. I hear Jason saying something to the two of us but the only thing I can focus on is Nash watching her walk away.

A/N Did you really think I was done, like really? Of course not!! Right when I was writing chapter 35 of The Officer I thought of doing a piece with Natalia and Nash. In my author's note, I noted I changed the age of Nash to someone younger, in this story he's thirty-one, Natalia twenty-nine. And I did a bit of foreshadowing in the last story with Victoria's comment of 'Is something going on between them?'

Originally it was going to be Rhett but I just didn't have anything good yet so I'm still thinking. And if I wrote something featuring him it would suck (probably be garbage too) and I always want to give my 110%. Apologies for the Rhett fans, the wait will have to be a bit longer but I don't want to give up, I just need more time. What are your thoughts on the chapter? Pretty explosive beginning am I right? So at the moment, Natalia and Nash already have some type of established relationship, there's no building it up like the other two. At this point, I don't feel the need to slow things down, like I will, but I just want it to be a transition from the previous story to the next.

And yes, there's already going to be some drama from the get-go. I'll be honest, for some reason I was so nervous to publish this. I don't know why maybe it's writer's nerves because even though I had this ready days ago, I wasn't ready. But now I'm semi-ready, and here to deliver.

I'm excited and nervous to see what you all have to say so be sure to leave your thoughts in the comments and welcome to our new crazy adventure!
