Nina Evans used to love the feeling of magic as it danced along the tips of her fingers. She had loved how it filled her soul with a sense of fullness and clarity while her heart pounded in her chest with glee.

That all changed when she reached the age of thirteen. Her power had grown stronger to a point that she could no longer control. Her fingers burned with fire every time a prickle of magic erupted from the tips and her mind felt as though it had exploded with all these new sensations.

Her mother, Natalie Evans, had no idea as to why her daughter's magic had become so out of control to the point where she was forced not to use it anymore. She had never seen another witch go through such strange symptoms.

There was one solution they always came back to – Peter Evans, Nina's father who had abandoned them before she had the chance to take in her first breath of air. It was the only explanation – there had to be something in his family history that had carried over to her.

For years, Natalie had attempted to find her long-lost husband, but her search was never found all that helpful. For days she would find herself stranded in her mind, lost as to where he might have run off to before eventually giving up and falling into a deeper pit of confusion.

Natalie did everything she could to help Nina. Spells, herbs, even once taking away her magic altogether, but none were found to be of use.

Nina Evans was doomed to be in constant agony, magic or not.
