Kidnapping
Guns
Gemini groaned as she slowly gained consciousness. Loud whispers echoed around, doing nothing to soothe her pounding headache. She blinked her eyes furiously, desperately trying to get used to the sudden bright light of reality.
Where am I?
What happened?
A billion questions nagged at her mind, each demanding an answer. Oh, if only she had the answers then everything would be so much easier.
Blinking the sleep out of her eyes, Gemini realised that she was tied down to a chair in the middle of a warehouse. All around her were stacks and stacks of mmedium-sizedboxes with colourful labels. And standing right in front of her were three masked figures in black jumpsuits.
"Looks like sleeping beauty is finally awake," one of them drawled. Definitely a female. Plus the long, auburn hair was a dead giveaway unless it was a male wearing a wig, but that was highly unlikely.
"Did you have a nice nap?" another asked mockingly. A female with silvery-white hair.
The last one laughed at his friends' statements, a deep sound ringing throughout the warehouse as his dark head shook with how hard he was laughing. What was so hilarious? Gemini didn't know and she didn't think she wanted to anyways.
"Why am I here?" Gemini demanded, trying in vain to wriggle out of her bonds.
The silver-haired female strolled towards her and said, "You wouldn't want to do that, darling. After all, it would be a shame to cut those pretty little wrists of yours."
"Kira," the male warned.
Kira rolled her eyes. "I was just joking," she pouted.
The redhead brushed past her friends and stalked towards Gemini like a predator creeping towards its prey. Every step spelt deadly elegance and grace. "Enough chit-chat," she chided. She untied Gemini from the chair and pulled her roughly to her feet. The male was quick to bind her wrists together.
Both females dragged Gemini into one of the smaller storage rooms while the male covered their backs, a shiny revolver in hand.
Gemini barely managed to stifle her gasp as she saw three others tied down to three chairs in the middle of the room. Worst of all, Gemini knew exactly who they were.
She stared numbly at the other prisoners as Kira led her to the middle of the room.
"Gemini?" Zadkiel said weakly, raising her head to look at her daughter in dismay. "What's going on?"
Meanwhile, Mercury was shouting through his gag, but Gemini couldn't make out what he was saying. Virgo sat silently in her chair, but her eyes were wide and panicked.
"I don't know," Gemini whispered. She was scared. Scared of what is happening. Scared of what would happen if she didn't get them out.
"Sorry for cutting short this family reunion though soon you may not be seeing one of them ever again," the male interrupted. Gemini could just hear the grin in his words. Oh, he must be enjoying this very much, she thought as she silently cursed all three of their kidnappers.
"Rafal," Kira giggled, "you're scaring the little ones." Then she turned to the redhead and said, "Ready?"
"Ready when you are."
Kira nodded at Rafal who turned dramatically to his little audience. "So we're going to be playing a little game. Do you guys know Russian Roulette? Yes? Good. Selene? Give her the revolver."
The redhead handed Gemini the revolver and a small bullet. The revolver was heavy in her hand and had six holes in the cylinder. Six holes...six shots...seven of them in the room...
"Put the bullet in and spin the cylinder," Rafal commanded. "In case you're wondering, you're not playing, Gemini."
Her hands were sweaty as she loaded the gun and spun the cylinder. She watched as it went round and round, hoping that she could predict where the bullet was. Then maybe, this game could work in her favour.
The three kidnappers spaced themselves out in the circle so it was alternating between one kidnapper and one of her family members.
"We'll start with me then go clockwise, shall we?" Selene said, clapping her hands with joy. "And aim at the forehead, darling."
Gemini aimed and pressed the trigger after a little hesitation.
Bang!
Selene still stood there, no bullet wound on her. "Now, your father's turn," she laughed, sending chills down Gemini's spine.
Gemini shakily lifted the gun to her father's forehead. Beads of sweat dotted her brow as she tried to control her breathing. What if she killed one of her family members? What if it was Virgo? They had fought and hadn't made up yet, and if Virgo was to die, by her hand no less...
Oh gods, how did she get into this situation? She was just having the week off and then she ended up here on the last day.
Then Aries' voice echoed in her mind. Just don't have any regrets later. Had he been warning her? But that didn't make any sense.
"We don't have all day, girl!" Selene snarled, breaking her out of her thoughts. Looks like someone's getting impatient.
Gemini closed her eyes and pressed the trigger. A loud shot echoed throughout the room. She slowly peeled her eyes open and to her relief, Mercury was alive. No bullet, no blood, nothing.
"Good girl." Rafal grinned wolfishly behind his mask. This was getting better and better. "Now, Kira next."
Gemini turned to the silver-haired girl standing beside her father. She silently prayed before she pressed the trigger again, but nothing. Moving on, she hoped for different things for each person.
Bang!
Bang!
Five shots down. Five empty slots. The last one is loaded.
Gemini lifted the gun but froze when she saw who the last person was. She couldn't help but tear up as memories flooded her mind.
"Just do it, sweetheart," Kira cooed.
"All you have to do is press the trigger," Rafal added. "You're doing so well. Just one more, is that so hard?"
"Press the trigger and then you all can go home," Selene tempted.
Silent sobs wracked Gemini's body as she contemplated her options. She couldn't lose Virgo. She couldn't. Eden couldn't lose Virgo. Capricorn couldn't lose Virgo.
To everyone's surprise, she aimed towards the nearest kidnapper and pulled the trigger.
Bang!
Dead silence.
Gemini slowly opened her eyes. She didn't even know she had closed it. She lowered the revolver that was pointed at Kira who looked perfectly fine. There was no blood or bullet hole anywhere on her.
The three kidnappers reached up and removed their masks, revealing their smiling faces, except for Rafal who looked a little annoyed. But Gemini could only stare at them in shock as she realised who they were.
Kira was Pisces, Selene was Cancer and Rafal was Scorpio.
"Wh-what?" Gemini stuttered, the gun in her hand clattering on the ground as she dropped it.
"Congratulations, little one," Pisces said warmly.
"You've completed your third trial," Cancer finished.
Scorpio forced a smile as the other two girls quickly untied the Gemini's family. "You've done much better than I expected, but did you necessarily have to aim at Pisces?"
Gemini didn't answer, her mind still reeling from what had just happened. But as soon as Virgo was free, she ran into her arms, sobbing. "I'm sorry!" she cried. "I shouldn't have said those things. I-"
"Shh," Virgo soothed, rubbing her sister's back. "It's alright, little one."
Then Aries appeared out of the shadows, clapping as he sauntered towards them. "I tried to warn you, but you didn't listen. However, you still did very well," he shrugged. Turning towards the three gods who posed as kidnappers, he added, "Though you three were a little too chill for kidnappers."
"Ow!" he yelped as Gemini, Scorpio, Pisces and Cancer kicked him. Hard. "I was going to add that I loved the sadism!"
"You deserve it," Scorpio muttered, wrapping his arms around his fiancรฉe.
