➽Epilogue IV - The Chauhan Bahus

Erisha sat by the window, her eyes teary and yet a smile on her face. She looked up at the stars and called out in a whisper, "Veer."

One of the stars twinkled, as if hearing her call out and reassured that someone was listening to her.

"Veer, today I fulfilled my promise to you. Today, the man who killed you is behind bars, all thanks to Yami." Erisha informed and added, "Mann toh kiya uska muh noch lu."

"Pehle I used to think that God's unfair, he took away the man I love just because he wanted the best with him, Mr. God's best creation." Erisha complained with a chuckle remembering Tanveer's letter.

"But maybe, shayad, thodu sa, God is fair. I've still got matters to resolve with him but he gave me Trishan. He's so wonderful, he's magic. Just like you." Erisha whispered with a content smile on her face.

"Now that you're in touch with God, tell him ki ab kuch bura nahi hona chahiye. You're my inside guy in God's office." Erisha informed him of the important role he had to play.

"Kabhi kabhi Trishan ke saath hoti hu toh it feels like bas this is it, I feel complete and then my mind wanders to you. He looks at me with those eyes that resemble yours, a smile like yours too. I hope he has your heart too, the ability to love like you." Erisha prayed to the stars.

She was told as a child by her grandma that when someone dies they don't leave us, they become our guardian angels, always there for us, looking over us and shaking their heads at the stupid things we do to ourselves in grief.

After growing up, she was told that stars are not souls, they're just balls of hydrogen that are burning but the idea of burning stars surrounding her didn't hold as much comfort as the previous theory did.

She was staring into the night sky when Trishan came running towards her. "Maa." He called out as he collided with her and wrapped arms around her.

"Aaram se, baccha." Erisha said and sat on her knees to match his height, "Kya hua?"

"Maa, aaj hum movie dekh sakte hai?" Trishan asked, making sure to smile at his mother and before she could deny, he added "Please." He even made a puppy dog face and batted his eyes.

Erisha shook her head with a smile as she thought how much like Tanveer he was, getting all extra sweet and lovely when they wanted something or did something wrong.

"Okay, baith jaao aap bed pe." Erisha said and turned on the TV, waiting for Trishan to say what he wanted to watch.

"Tangled!!" Trishan screamed enthusiastically as Erisha sat on the bed. Trishan snuggled into her, watching intently as Erisha lightly caressed his hair.

'I remember what you wrote Veer, an eclipse isn't a one time occurrence. It happens again after some time, love would find it's way. I wasn't sure. For me, it's a one time thing, but turns out I'm wrong. Love found its way to me in the form of our kid, our Trishan.' Erisha thought as she saw Trishan looking in awe at Rapunzel's long hair and her painting skills that always made him gasp.

He often tried to mimicked Flynn Rider's iconic smolder too. The best reaction, however, was always during the boat scene where they watch the floating lights, the lanterns. Everyone is always mesmerized by the lights and the beauty of the scene but Trishan always stared at Eugene, the way he looked at Rapunzel as her dreams got fulfilled, the same way his father looked at his mother in one of their pictures.

They were fine, they missed Tanveer, but they'll be okay.

The Chauhan house was more chaotic than usual due to the fact that people from The Hello! were there to interview the three daughters-in-law of the house on the occasion of women's day.

"Hello and welcome to another segment of our Empowering Women series. Today we have with us the three daughters-in-law of one of the most influential business empire, The Chauhan Empire." The interviewer, Neha started and added, "So here are our three guests, Revati Chauhan, Vritika Chauhan and Meher Chauhan. A very warm welcome to you all."

The three smiled politely at her and Meher said, "Thank you. We're glad to be here."

Neha looked at them and said, "We have been interviewing women that cause a change because you are what inspires others to do the same too."

"We are glad we could bring some change in a positive way." Revati said, flicking her hair back. She was very nervous about this interview but hoped that it didn't show.

"So Revati, what inspired you to run an NGO?" Neha asked and Revati took a few seconds to think and articulate her reply.

"I do not know if people have noticed this, but every girl out there has a molestation story, bus main khadi thi and someone groped her, staring at her breast, sometimes girls are told to let it go, girls are blamed for atrocities done on them. Then there's the family shaming, ladki der raat mein waapis aati hai job se, aisa toh hona hi tha. There's a lot of things wrong with society, ladki ke kapde ko judge karenge par jisne uske kapde phaade usko nahi." Revati said and the three ladies nodded in agreement.

"There is a girl who became a mother when she was six, and everyone knows what that means even if you don't know her story. She was raped, a six year old that too by her grandpa." Revati informed and Meher who was unknown to this fact, looked shocked.

"Abortion isn't as easy as people say and nor is having a kid easy. Sometimes getting a kid aborted can harm you. Rape victim sometimes decide to not abort, single mothers aren't accepted in this society, let alone considering marriage. I was a teacher at a well reputed school and I had a student whose mother had her before marriage and the mother was so done with the taunts that she decided to stop the kid from going to school for quite a lot of days. She was going to move just because of those people. Talking to the mother made me realise how shitty the world is, I thankfully haven't faced any such thing and thought we were progressing too until I heard what she goes through. She motivated me to help others and lend an ear, provide a safe space to stay at and work."

"We keep all this aside, then also we have the whole pati ke baad hi khaate hai, job nahi ghar ka kaam karo, what's the use of a job scenario. Even if someone says ki men are dangerous and they can rape you, you'll always hear a 'not all men' argument, don't generalize, par women are always generalized, all women are bad drivers, all women are gold diggers. It is time that things changed, we're in the 21st century." Revati ended with a shrug.

The interview moved forward smoothly. Vritika Lakhani, a very successful department head in the Chauhan Empire. She was a constant inspiration to the female employees and other young girls. The first Chauhan bahu who made headlines, that too for being their employee.

People did think she was a gold digger who batted her eyelashes at her boss to climb the success ladder and got too lucky as he married her and she agreed, wanting the money but eventually her work spoke for her, she got what she worked hard for and not because of what her relations were.

Meher Chauhan was the celebrity, a role model for a larger audience that saw her on the screens. Just like Vritika's case, people thought Meher was helped by the connections the Chauhans have to gain a role but after the movie hit the big screens, people knew her potential and what an amazing actress she was.

Even if they did use connections, it wasn't a spot wasted on someone with just money and no talent. Meher's acting touched hearts and her genuine self during interviews and talk shows won them. She always chose roles carefully once she gained enough success to gave choices, she made sure none of her roles were too naive or pitiful, her characters were always inspiring.

"I just want people to know ki haa you all do struggle, but just because someone else has money or connections in the industry doesn't mean they didn't struggle. Tumhara zyaada hota hoga shayad, but we struggle too. Everybody has to struggle. Ananya ka struggle may not be financial, her struggle was the comments you guys make. 5th ki padhaai tough lagti hai when we are in fifth, tenth mein aane ke baad pata chalta hai ki fifth toh saala easy tha. Humara struggle may be fith standard jitna hoga, but for us jo aaj tak fourth pe the, that struggle is tough too, tenth tak tum pohoche ho, we're still going studying and persevering." Meher said. God knew how she controlled herself when she was accused of using money and connections to get a role she didn't deserve. She got it because she deserved it.

Even if people do use connections, what's the harm if they actually are good? They have connections because of their parents, how is it their fault? Why are they made fun of? If you craved a chocolate, would you make it from scratch when you had the option to just eat a Cadbury?

"This is the end of today's video. It was fun talking to you guys and you three are really lovely, more so in person. Glad to have you here with us. This was really a pleasure." Neha concluded and the three smiled warmly, saying that they were glad for the honor too and how warm a person Neha was.

Adhyan stood beside Revati, who was getting rid of the make-up she had applied. "How did it go?" Adhyan asked and Revati looked at him once before smiling and saying, "Was great. Don't know what I was even nervous about."

Adhyan chuckled hearing that, he did tell her not to stress too much but she didn't listen then. "I'm glad." Adhyan said before sitting on the bed.

"You know, when we first got married, I thought I made a mistake. I loved you, but you seemed like a person who would hurt me emotionally then, even if unintentionally." Revati confided.

Adhyan sighed remorsefully, "I know. I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you at all. From the very first day I saw you, even before our marriage, you were more than a stranger to me. Always."

"I know. I waited for you, and tada, here we are. I just wish I could erase the initial years of our marriage at times." Revati shrugged.

Adhyan held her hands and kissed her palm, "I do too, love."

Revati Mishra Chauhan, who thought her husband hated her, thanked the Lord for how far they'd come from then. Here she was, with her husband whom she loved and he loved her back too, just as equally if not more.

Vritika entered her room, a smile on her lips. "Kisko khayalo mein ho, jaan?" Dishank asked with a smile seeing her so happy.

Vritika immediately sat beside him on the bed and crosses her legs to gt comfortable. "Dish, maa ne mujhe bola ki she couldn't get someone better for you." Vritika squealed. Dishank smiled lovingly, giving her a look that screamed he was impressed.

"Damn, sachi?" Dishank asked, happy that Vritika and Nalini were bonding. "Haa, she even apologized for her earlier taunts Dish. I thought she was joking for a second because that was long ago too but she was genuinely sorry. I felt embarrassed too because woh badi hai mujhse." Vritika informed and Dishank caressed her face with a loving sigh.

"I know it has been long, Vri but what is wrong is wrong. And log bade hote hai by their ability to recognize when they made a mistake and apologize for it. Bade hai iska yeh matlab nahi they get a free card to get out of anything without taking responsibility. I'm glad mom apologized." Dishank explained and Vritika rolled her eyes.

"Okay baba. I'm also sorry for saying that." Vritika said playfully causing Dishank to stare at her with a deadpan expression.

"Tu nahi hota toh mera kya hota, jaan." Vritika said dramatically as she hugged Dishank and kissed his forehead.

Vritika Lakhani Chauhan, who was not accepted by her in-laws could now rightfully say she was their daughter too without having to think twice about it and her husband was with her throughout the journey as her confidante.

Meher was sprawled across the bed in their room when Samay entered and seeing Meher, he jumped on the bed too causing Meher to get annoyed.

"Yaar, dhang se gir na. Mere pe mat aa." Meher whined, pushing his leg away. Samay mimicked her in a childish voice which clearly gave him the upper hand in the argument.

"Sam, grow up." Meher said causing Samay to roll his eyes. "You, ma'am, are in Pink Panther pajamas. You grow up." Sam retorted.

"Pink panther is for all ages, Disco dancer." Meher said and Samay groaned. "I see why past me planned to part ways with you." Sam joked and Meher glared at him.

"Oh hello, I was going to part ways with yoh." Meher said moving closer and pointing a finger at him. "You wouldn't dare." Sam argued and pointed a finger at her too.

"Challenge de raha hai? Ek baar divorce toh kiya, dusre mein time nahi lagega. Ab toh experience bhi hai." Meher threatened.

"Karke toh dikha. Sign karne se pehle hi paper na jala du?" Samay said with a smirk as he booped her nose.

Meher whined loudly as he booped her nose again, "Yaar, Sam I hate you." Samay grinned and kissed her cheeks, "Jhooti saali. You know you love me."

"Ab kya kare? Ho gaya pyaar, nai?" Meher said and sighed with a smile. Samay grinned and snuggled into her, "True. Kya hi kar sakte hai? Bhagwaan ki marzi hai."

Meher giggled and snuggled closer, making him wrap his arms around her. "Guess our grandparents did know what they were doing, huh?" Meher said with a smile and placed a kiss on his hand that was wrapped around her as Samay smiled and gently kissed her neck.

Meher Khurana Chauhan, who hated the person she was getting married to since the first moment they met and had all plans to seperate from was now snuggling with him, violating her deal with him and she was glad for it because if not him then who would be able to handle her crazy ass?

✦✧✦✧

Revati Mishra Chauhan, Vritika Lakhani Chauhan and Meher Khurana Chauhan each found their happiness, the one thing truly they wanted and on this journey they found other relationships, too valuable to lose. Most of all, they found a sister in each other, they stood together in everything and were always there for each other no matter what.

They are sisters. They are The Chauhan Bahus.
