Yokunaru General Hospital.

It's not actually a hospital.

It's actually experimentation lab where the creations of artificial quirks are being implanted onto children.

It's hidden from the general public. What would the citizens of Musutafu think of using children as quirk experiments?

"I'm telling you, Eraserhead, this idea could be one of our best yet!" The animal principal of UA High School, Nezu told to one of his Hero Class teachers.

"One of your ideas, Nezu." The Erasure Hero: Eraserhead, or more better known as Shouta Aizawa, rebutted. "I'm sorry, but I don't see how taking a sick kid and putting them in our top hero course would be so beneficial. It could actually bring us down."

"Aizawa, what I am about to reveal to you is top secret, and I do ask that you keep this secret." Nezu said. "The hospital... isn't an actual hospital. The kids in there aren't sick. They're being used as experiments."

Aizawa grimaced. "Using kids as experiments...? That's vile..."

"I am aware, but there's nothing that we can do about it except hide it from the public. Our government had funded the lab and that's that." Nezu stated, shrugging. "My thought was taking one of their top preforming subjects and giving them the chance to take our hero course here!"

"It just seems like a lot of extra paperwork." Aizawa said.

"Aizawa. I am asking you to hear me out." Nezu pleaded, his beady eyes bleeding into Aizawa's.

He folded. Sighing, Aizawa said, "Fine then. I will hear you out, but only if I get a say in the child we choose."

"I actually already have one in mind..." Nezu sang, leaning down to pull out a manilla folder, tapping it twice against the flat surface of his desk. Aizawa sighed again, taking a seat while grabbing the manilla folder from his superior.

Opening the folder, the Erasure Hero was met with the name of his new potential student.

"Her stats are extremely high..." Aizawa muttered, his eyes glazing over the the report inside the folder.

Knows about the experimentations.

โ€”

"Wait a minute, what does it say at the bottom...?" Aizawa questioned.

"I read that too." Nezu stated. "We may have to ask them about it in the interview."

"...Interview? What interview?" Aizawa asked, seeing a small, sheepish smirk come from his administrator.

"We're interviewing them today; I'm sorry I didn't let you know in advance, Aizawa."

"Let's just get this damn interview ready."

โ€”

"(Y/N)..."

One of the nurses, Yano, called out to the singular girl sitting in her cot, staring at the florescent lights on the ceiling while mindlessly making shapes in the blanket. All the other kids (more like subjects) were all playing together in their free time.

She turned, staring back at the nurse with a less than positive expression on her face.

"What."

"Apparently, there are people who'd like to meet with you." Yano told, making (Y/N) squint in confusion and suspicion.

"We aren't allowed to have visitors here."

"It's not like that, apparently, you've been offered a proposition to get out of here."

The girl perked up, her face of unusual curiosity. "To...leave?"

"Yes, you'd be able to leave here. Maybe forever."

"Do the other subjects know? Are they also being propositioned?"

"No (Y/N), just you."

"Why just me?"

"I do not know..." Yano sighed. "All I know is that you're meeting with them today."

(Y/N) scoffed, "I don't even have a choice?"

"Do you want to get out of here or not?" Yano asked, with less apprehension in her voice than usual.

"...Yes."

"Mother will be taking you to meet them.

(Y/N) visibly deflated, and immediately got more defensive. "I am not going anywhere with that lady. She is not my mother and she is the reason I'm here."

"I can't make that decision, (Y/N). I'm sorry..." Yano apologized. "Mother will get you in a few minutes for you to leave."

With that Yano left, and true to her word, "Mother", as everyone has learned to call her, came to take (Y/N) out of the room. An eerie smile played on the grey-haired woman's lips.

"C'mon dearie. Let's get you out of those dirty old rags and into some spare clothes."

"I wouldn't be in these dirty old rags if you took me in the first place."

'Mother' chuckled. "Don't be like that, we can't leave our hosts waiting." She handed over a pair of blue jeans and a red t-shirt.

(Y/N) didn't like the spare clothes. They were too tight on her body; she could feel all the seams making imprints on her skin.

The t-shirt was uncomfortable, too. Short sleeves were always uncomfortable, despite the fact thats all they wore in the hospital, but at least they weren't skin tight.

(Y/N) quietly exited the room after changing into the uncomfortable clothes; 'Mother' stood there waiting, her lips quirking up at the sight of the young girl all ready.

"You look so beautiful when all dressed up..." The woman cooed, making the (h/c) girl wither under the elders gaze.

'Mother' never felt like a mother, despite what all the other subjects said about her.

'Mother' lead the girl out, a hand on her shoulder as (Y/N) refused to look anywhere but at the ground.

Public transportation wasn't 'Mother's' favorite thing, so they walked to the UA Highschool Building.

(Y/N) looked up, the shiny glass surface reflecting the bright sun into her eyes, making her squint.

The quick taps on her shoulder reminded her of why she was in front of this wretched school in the first place.

Multiple empty classrooms and long corridors felt even emptier and longer as they looked for the office.

Upon finding the door and opening it, there stood the Erasure Hero and the animal principal.

Nezu's smile widened once the two opened the door, while Aizawa's face remained stoic, and almost uninterested.

Glad to know someone's in the same boat as me, (Y/N) thought.

"You're here! Please come in. Sit, sit!" Nezu beckoned the two over, 'Mother' forcing (Y/N) in first.

While 'Mother' urged her to sit in the seat, she, herself, did not. She only stood above (Y/N), hand still placed on her shoulder.

"The both of you are probably wondering why we called you here with an offer..." Aizawa stated, as he also stood next to Nezu's seated figure.

(Y/N) slowly nodded her head.

"Well, we are both currently aware of your current condition."

(Y/N) tensed.

"...I'm not sick."

"We know!" Nezu responded. "We're aware that you're currently being experimented on for the purpose of artificial quirk evolution." He stated, a smile on his face despite the severity of the words.

"...So why am I here then." (Y/N) grumbled, but stopped as 'Mother's' hand tightened on her shoulder.

"Now now, don't be rude to our hosts." She told with a closed eye smile, but the tone of her words was warning.

Nezu waved the grey-haired woman off, dismissively. "Don't worry! We're aware of the pressure she might be feeling right now, it's quite odd right now."

"What is your aim with me." (Y/N) asked. "I still don't understand my reason for being called here..."

"Well, since we found out of your current...living condition," Aizawa coughed into his fist, "we thought of...offering you a spot in our top hero course-"

"No."

Aizawa paused immediately. "Excuse me?"

"No." The (h/c) girl responded again, somehow even sterner than before. "I'm saying no. I don't want your offer."

"But...why?" Aizawa asked.

"It's a pity offer. You don't actually want me in your course, you just want to give some poor unfortunate 'sick' kid a second chance to get out of where they are. It's a pity offer." (Y/N) responded, seething at the black-haired male. "If you actually wanted to help, you'd make steps to taking down the organization thats experimenting on children, and not just trying to get a new pawn to place." (Y/N) grimaced. "If there's one thing I hate more than the current state of my autonomy, it's hero society."

Damn, Aizawa and Nezu read (Y/N)'s file. It did say she was stubborn and closed off.

But they didn't expect this much resistance from a single teenage girl.

They're still going to keep trying though, right?

Yeah.

"Well, hear us out, would you?" Nezu asked. Seeing as he got no negative response, he pushed on. "We've read your file. Your stats are the highest of your peers; everything a 4 or above. Someone with immeasurable potential deserves a chance."

"There were rarely any others with 5's on their stats, yet you have two of them: Stamina and Strength." Aizawa continued. "We could really use those in this new school year. You really do have some of the more potential we've seen, whether you want to hear it or not."

'Mother' smiled, the corners of her eyes crinkling happily. She moved her hands from (Y/N)'s shoulders to her hair, running her olden fingers through the end, detangling knots.

Both teachers noticed how the young girl immediately stiffened.

"That's sweet little (Y/N) for you sirs." She spoke wistfully. "Since she's one of the older children, we make sure those in her age range have at least their stamina up to a 5 ranking for maximum capability."

"...And if they don't?"

'Mother' smiled. "We get rid of them."

Five words, and the warm atmosphere was gone.

Nezu and Aizawa now understood why the (h/c) was stiff the entire time, and why she refused to meet anyone's eyes now.

Nezu coughed. "Well, (Y/N), if you still have your doubts about our offer," Nezu reached down into a cabinet, shuffling through papers before he found the one he needed, sliding it across the wooden desk, "this is a contract. Read through it and see how you feel!"

Meekly, (Y/N) raised her eyes to look at the contract on the desk. She scooted forward in her chair to take it in her hand, eyes scanning over every printed word.

The two Pro-Hero's watched intently at the girl silently reading over the contract, eyes mildly squinted as her pupils dashed through each fine line.

"I know there are some things that are undecided as of now, but we promise that if you consider accepting or even do accept our contract we will keep in touch with your supervisors in order to make sure you know everything going into this deal!" Nezu told, making sure everything was out in the open.

(Y/N) cleared her throat. "...Where'd I live."

"What?"

"It sounds like a useless question at first, but it makes sense. It took about an hour to get here on foot, so would I stay somewhere else or...or would I still have to stay where I am?"

"Why, you'd clearly still stay with us, at the hospital dearie." 'Mother' urged.

"On the contrary, actually." Nezu countered. "If she accepts our offer, I plan on having a meeting with the other pro-hero's to see which one of us is most fit to have a teenager in our home. It's mostly based on space capacity, as well as...mental maturity. I call it the 'Teenage Home' plan; get's straight to the point, you think?" Nezu smiled.

The offer ran through (Y/N)'s head multiple times. They really hate the state of their life at the current moment, but there's nothing she hates more than the hero society. To go to a school that directly benefits said society is like going against all her personal morals.

There's very little chance she could be able to make change from within: what's a stubborn, uncooperative girl going to make an impact on the entirety of the hero world?

...

"...If I take your offer..." She started, thoughtfully,

"...Can I wear pants."

"...That's your only request? The only thing you have to ask?" Aizawa deadpanned. Nezu shot him a stern look.

(Y/N) shrugged. "They separate us by sex at the experimental lab. Females wear skirts while men wear pants. It's the same thing in schools, isn't it?" Both the adult men nodded.

"I never liked wearing skirts. They fit weird and hinder my movement while training because I'm scared it's going to fly up... That's why I'd rather wear pants."

Nezu looked up at Aizawa, who shrugged dismissively. Nezu looked back at the two girls. "I don't see a problem with your request... If it means you'll take our offer."

(Y/N) looked up at the animal hero. She nodded slowly.

"Yes...Yes, I'm taking your offer."

Nezu smiled, and clapped his hands together. "Excellent! I'll make to talk to your supervisors so you can be in the loop about every decision you decide." Nezu stood up and held out his hand to take yours. "We're very excited to have you in our school curriculum."

"It was very nice to meet you sirs." 'Mother' pipes up. "I do hope you take good care of (Y/N), she's one of our most prized children."

"Thank you for bringing her here. We'll keep in touch."

(Y/N) had blocked out the rest of the adults conversation.

I really hopped from one thing I hated to the next thing I hated the most, she thought.

Maybe I can make a difference, but probably not, she thought.

It doesn't hurt to try it. She thought.
