12. Until The End (All)
y/n pov
everything was a blur. everything passed by so fast, it felt like we weren't moving at all. trees were simply green, the streets changes colour like pouring paint.
the bullet train i was on went on without mercy, it kept on going despite the interesting events going on out in the neighborhood. the sunshine went inside the train, the passengers able to feel the welcoming warmth.
looking out the window, emotions came rushing into my heart knowing what i was about to do would bring back old memories. sitting there anxiously, i kept taking deep breaths, the refreshing smell of the train waking up my senses.
i was scared. i trembled helplessly, the daylight didn't help enlighten my current state.
i was scared to face them.
flashback (third person pov) ~
"hey, what are you doing?!" she laughed out, running around the playground like a 8-year-old should.
"ha, take this!" a boy threw a snowball towards her, but thanks to her quick reflexes, she dodged it just in time.
"ha, you missed!" the girl named y/n mocked, sticking her tongue out at the boy.
the playground was covered in thick snow, it was an endless field of white. naked trees held their hands up in dismay, watching the pair of kids playing around cheerfully in awe. beautiful snow flakes decorated the swings, looking like glitter on them.
laughter and yelps filled the empty playground, creating a slight more lively atmosphere.
"how about this!" the boy named kai yelled again, and this time, y/n wasn't able to avoid the attack.
"ouch! ooh, you're gonna pay for that!"
kai and y/n continued to play happily, without noticing that the sun had already said its goodbye.
"phew, oh wow, it's dark now." kai blurted, staring at the dim street light that flickered once in a while.
"oh yeah." y/n agreed, following kai as she gazed at the night sky filled with twinkling stars.
they stayed that way for a while, looking up despite the fact that they're looking at different things. they seemed to be looking at the same thing.
then suddenly, a flash of light passed in the sky, y/n's eyes widen at the sight.
"kai! kai! look, a shooting star!" she nudged at the boy, causing him to look at the direction y/n pointed at.
then came another.
"woah! we should make a wish!"
so they instantly covered their eyes as they wished upon a star, just like what the fairytale says.
but what they didn't realize was that they were holding hands as they both wished for their friendship to last forever.
_________
she sat at her usual place, the bench by the park. the flower petals danced in the air, the warm breeze brushed against her hair. people walked by as they also enjoyed the spring breeze. the grass seemed fresh and fluffy, the striking green color oddly new to her eyes.
y/n looked down to her thighs, her hands shaking as she gripped tightly onto her dress. the rim of her dress started getting wet out of tears as it kept dripping like a leaked water faucet.
"hey, you okay?" a hand suddenly brushed her back from her side which made y/n look up to see a pair of big eyes staring right into her glassy eyes.
"s-soobin?" slightly shocked by his presence, y/n stuttered with her croaked voice. "i-i thought you were helping your mom at the store?"
"well, i'm done already. the others are still doing their course." he told as he embraced me in his well-known warm hug, y/n burying her face into his chest as soobin rubbed her back in circles.
"your parents fought again?" soobin softly asked. she simply nodded as a confirmation.
"don't worry, we'll always be here, okay?" he comforted her which made her heart softened at his words. with only his words, her world became brighter than before.
_________
feeling frustrated, she threw her arms up. "yah, gyu. this is too hard." y/n complained, scratching her nape. "why am i doing this again?"
"so that you can pass your music exam?" beomgyu answered her with a question, and went back to messing around with his guitar. they were in beomgyu's cozy room, sitting on beanbags as they conversed.
"right." y/n sighed, realizing the bitter truth.
"hey, don't give up so easily, y/n!" beomgyu cheered, patting her shoulders with a smile before resuming to his beloved guitar.
"how am i not supposed to give up when i can't even do a simple chord?!" she whined, putting her head down afterwards.
beomgyu quickly stopped playing his guitar and almost instantly approached her. "you want me to tell you something?"
she remained silent, feeling utterly upset.
beomgyu went on, "do you know how long it took for me to master two, three chords?"
y/n shook her head and sarcastically replied, "i don't know, a week?"
"three months."
y/n's head jolted up, surprised at his words. "th-three months?"
he sheepishly chuckled, "yeah, three months. surprised?"
"of course i am! you're such an amazing guitatist.." she complimented, bringing a blush to beomgyu's cheeks.
"well, it took 3 years for me to be an 'amazing guitarist'," he air-quoted and continued, "and it's also a reason for you not to give up." he commanded.
y/n chuckled at what he said, "okay, i won't." she exclaimed, smiling ear to ear.
beomgyu also returned the smile before lecturing y/n with guitar lessons. 'thanks, beomgyu' she thanked him silently.
_________
"hey, do you know?"
"no, i don't." y/n put on a straight face at yeonjun's rhetorical question.
"yah~ hear me out please.." yeonjun cooed, y/n almost choked on her latte as she heard it.
"okay, fine. what is it?" she slightly giggled.
"i'm going to have my own dance workshop."
"wait, what?" she reacted almost immediately, feeling so happy that her friend's hard work was paying off.
"oh my god, congrats!" she stood up to give him a hug, and yeonjun gladly hugged her back.
"it's all thanks to you." he muffled into her neck. y/n retreated from the hug as she gave yeonjun a confused look.
"what do you mean?"
"well, if you didn't convince me to pursue dancing the day i met you at the studio, i would never be where i am now." he confessed, sitting back down.
"which is?"
"best friends with you and the boys! and of course, the workshop wouldn't have happened too if you didn't help look for the studio." he smiled.
"awh, that's so sweet." y/n was flattered at his words. "i'm glad i met you and the boys."
"me too."
there was a brief silence, the café wasn't really crowded. as they enjoyed the peaceful feeling with a cup of coffee, they also felt grateful to have each other.
_________
the classroom was empty, everyone went for their breaks except for taehyun and y/n.
"i told you, this is the easiest method you can use."
"but i'm better at doing the second method.."
"well then, have fun doing the long ass ride."
"yah~ taehyun.."
y/n asked taehyun to help her with the upcoming physics test, but they ended up arguing.
"do you want me to teach you or not?" taehyun retorted, raising a brow.
"but this is risky! it's a whole different method, i can't learn it in time!" y/n yelled, upset that she sucks at that particular lesson.
"okay, okay. i'll use your method."
"thank you!" she threw her hands.
"but it's only because you're my best friend."
"whatever." y/n rolled her eyes, chuckling.
"you know, you're smarter than you think you are." taehyun suddenly blurted out, gaining y/n's attention.
"hm?"
"you think you're gonna fail the test, but the truth is, you're gonna get a good score, better than what my score will be."
"what does that supposed to mean?" y/n scoffed at his sudden theory.
"huh, nevermind." taehyun gave up, resuming to teach her like he would always do when y/n needs help.
"bruh, tell me!"
"i told you already! geez."
then out of nowhere, they started to laugh lightly.
"thank you." she smiled at him as he passionately wrote on his notebook.
_________
7 years after their friendship began, they had become nothing but closer best friends. those 6 teenagers knows everything about each other, and they never had a big fight.
until the fact changed.
"she left."
"wait a minute. she left town?"
"i'm sorry boys." y/n's mom sympathetically smiled at the boys, knowing how close they were as kids.
"but... why?" soobin breathed out, feeling hurt knowing his best friend left without saying goodbye.
"oh, i forgot. we had flowers." yeonjun gave the flower to y/n's mom, earning a grateful smile.
"thank you, jun. it's so sweet of all of you to visit us."
"it's the least we can do after your spouse passed away, mrs. y/l/n." taehyun said politely, sipping the tea she served.
"do you know why y/n left without telling us, mrs. y/l/n?" kai eventually spoke out after a while, his tone sad.
"she wanted to start over, you know. after her father died. so i let her." she explained, her voice a little shaky.
the five boys were hurt and confused, why did she leave just like that? she could've told them about it, but she didn't.
they were disappointed.
"well, she'll come back someday. i just don't know when." y/n's mother sighed, studying the boys' expression.
"here, have some snacks." she offered, trying to make the boys smile despite the situation.
~ end of flashback.
i sat on the bench by the park, the one place i would always go to whenever i feel upset.
everything about this town brings back old memories, good and bad. as i observed the falling saturated leaves dancing in the air, i gazed over the trees, taking a deep breath. it was refreshing, different from the city air. i closed my eyes, trying to feel the cold breeze passing by.
"i knew we'd find you here." a deep voice suddenly interrupted my peace.
"hey, i was-" i opened my eyes to see five figures towering over me, those familiar five. i choked om my own breath, surprised to see them.
"wow, hi." i quickly stood up, excitement overwhelming me. but at the same time, the truth dawned on me. i sighed.
"you guys are so tall now." i managed to say, it was almost a whisper. i got so nervous, i started to play with the tiny rocks on the ground.
"yeah, a lot has changed ever since you left." a different voice spoke out this time, and i looked up to see yeonjun talking.
"about that, i'm sorry." i apologized, my head hung low.
a familiar hand suddenly touched my back, rubbing it in circles. the contained emotions finally got out, and i instantly sobbed into soobin's arms.
"it's okay, we understand." kai's childlish voice comforted, patting my shoulder.
"at first, we were shocked, of course." the familiar tone of taehyun's voice continued.
"but eventually, we learned how to accept it." beomgyu finished, and i rubbed my eyes before facing them.
"you could've told us, you know."
"i'm sorry, i couldn't face you guys that time. i was at my worst." a tear slipped from my eye, and as i was about to wipe it off, yeonjun did it for me. i smiled a little.
"yeah, but you're our friend. we'll always be here for you, you know that right?" yeonjun comforted.
"thanks guys, i don't know how i'm friends with you." i sheepishly chuckled a little, looking into each and one of their eyes. "wait, how did you know i was here?"
"well, your mom told us." kai replied
"ooh, i see. by the way, wow! you look so different now!"
"yeah, we became trainees in a company." beomgyu declared, and the others quickly shushed him.
"wait, really?! that's amazing!"
"you weren't supposed to say that, gyu." taehyun warned, earning my giggle.
"friends 'til the end?" kai put a hand in the middle, followed by me and the others as we put our hands together.
"friends until the end."
