Silas grinned wildly as he held onto Scarlett's hand and pulled her outside of the castle, as they ran through the grass under the night sky.
"Where are we going, Silas?" Scarlett asked him with a laugh stumbling slightly on her heels and causing Silas to slow down.
In all honesty, Silas had no fucking idea where they were going either. Or why it was just the two of them or why when she smiled at him it was like the whole world stopped.
He blamed it on the firewhiskey.
Scarlett and he had danced the night away and she was the one to suggest they get out of the common room for some air but he was the one that dragged her across the grounds until they had reached the grass near the Black Lake.
He pulled her towards him and peered down at her with a smile, "Hi."
Scarlett let out a laugh, "Hi."
Silas kept smiling but didn't say anything as he reached up to tuck a stray strand of her blonde hair behind her ear, letting his hand linger on her jaw.
"You're really bad at hiding your feelings when you're drunk," Scarlett whispered to him with a small smile. "Did you know that?"
Silas pursed his lips tilting his head to the side and nodded solemnly, "My dad says it's called caring."
"About me?"
"Maybe," Silas muttered and Scarlett smiled softly reaching up to brush his hair to the side.
"I'm drunk, too," she murmured, "I think that firewhiskey breaks through my vampirism."
"Do you want to go swimming in the lake?" Silas suggested with a smirk, "You know, so we can sober up."
"Aren't you going to get cold, Silas? You're not part vampire," Scarlett said with a frown and Silas let out a laugh.
"I'll be fine, Scar."
That was how both of them ended up in the lake, stripped down to their underwear and immersed in a splash war.
Only in their world splash war actually meant using their magic or abilities to get the other. Scarlett would swim absurdly fast and grab onto his ankles making him fall underwater and Silas would use his magic to control the water and make the lake swallow Scarlett in a big wave.
At some point, Silas used the water to bring her close to him and laughed when Scarlett appeared before him with hair all over her face and a glare in her eyes.
She brushed her hair out her face with a huff, "Did your mother ever tell you not to mess with a girl's hair?"
"No, you know well that was Ellie's job," Silas replied with a grin and Scarlett let out a giggle as she shoved him on the chest.
"You're an idiot," she said quietly and looked up at him, her blue eyes dark under the night sky.
"I know, I think it's genetic."
His hands found their way onto her waist and he was pleased when she only smiled in return and put her arms around his neck.
"We're probably not going to remember this tomorrow," Scarlett murmured and he nodded.
"Probably."
"And even if we do... We're probably going to ignore it right? Like we did last time?" she pressed on.
Silas didn't answer her and instead merely lowered his head down and brushed his lips against hers.
Last time. That was a few months ago when they were still in Mystic Falls and had been studying late together and ended up kissing. The next morning they ignored each other and then they ignored the kiss and returned to the way it was before.
Silas wasn't sure if he wanted to ignore this kiss though, but at the moment he really didn't care. He pulled her towards him by his hold on her waist and smirked when she sighed into his lips.
⁂
The next morning Silas woke up with a killer headache and groaned. He in fact did remember the night before and he didn't know what to do about it.
He looked up at the ceiling and grimaced when it started spinning causing him to close his eyes shut again.
He remembered kissing Scar and taking her back to her common room and crawling his way back to his where he found James passed out on the bed with his ass up.
He remembered kissing Scar.
He had kissed her. Again.
"Shit," he muttered and sat up on the bed.
"Fucking hangovers," James muttered from his own bed and Silas looked to the side to find him rubbing his eyes. "What's in firewhiskey?"
"Alcohol," Silas said and threw the sheets off himself as he stood up, swaying slightly as he did. He looked out the window and saw the sun outside with squinted eyes. "The sun is really high, we probably missed breakfast."
"Good. English breakfast is a horrible hangover food in my opinion," James said.
"What happened to you last night, MJ?"
"You mean after you ditched me to hang out with Scarlett?" James grumbled and Silas stiffened. James didn't notice though. "I can't really remember. There was dancing and singing and I think... I think at some point I started stripping and that was when India levitated me here."
Silas snorted in amusement. "At least you didn't get naked. Saved a lot of people from suffering last night, MJ."
"Close your mouth, Spidey," James grumbled with a glare as he stood up and began searching for clothes to wear. "Where did you and Scar run off to anyway? Did she show you the room with the movie theater?"
"What? No, we just went for a swim in the Black Lake. You know... typical splash war and stuff."
James grinned with a faraway look, "I miss those. How come you didn't invite me?"
"Because you were booked last night, Esmeralda." Silas laughed as he had to duck when James threw a pillow at her.
"Come on, maybe we're in time for lunch."
The moment they got to the Great Hall, where in fact lunch was being served, Silas' eyes swept across the room and he found Scarlett sitting with her Hufflepuff friends laughing. It seemed she felt his eyes on him and she looked up and smiled before going back to their conversation.
Silas' heart fell slightly. She didn't remember the kiss. If she did she would either be ignoring him or awkwardly trying to talk to him. She wouldn't be smiling at him like it was some random Tuesday.
Shaking his head off feelings Silas sat down next to James and Hope. India was sitting in front of them, Black on her side and Lupin on the other side. Potter was sitting down at the table with Pettigrew trying to have a polite conversation with Lily Evans by the looks of it.
"Did you know," India was saying, "that Sirius, the star, is also the Dog Star?"
Silas nearly snorted at what India was trying to do. Lupin looked mildly amused and apprehensive and Black was choking on his water.
"Does that make you a black dog, Black?" James asked.
"That would be accurate," Lupin muttered with a smirk and Black glared at him.
"Did you also know that sometimes Buck can be a nickname for James?" India added.
James narrowed his eyes at her, "Are you calling me a deer?"
"Buck isn't a common nickname for James, India," Hope said, her voice slightly strained as if she were holding onto to a laugh.
"It isn't? Oh well."
"Where did you find out all this enlightening information?" Black asked after having calmed down and Silas saw India's face looking too amused for her own good.
"I dunno." She shrugged. "By the way, McGonagall told me this morning I didn't get the part for the commentator."
"You took no for an answer?" Silas asked bewildered at the thought and India grinned shaking her head.
"No, I just need her to be in a good mood to change her mind."
"Minnie doesn't really change her mind," Black warned her and India shrugged.
"Well, I'm pretty good at changing people's minds."
Silas couldn't help but agree. James had a talent for transporting people from place to place and apparently from universe to universe and India had the talent to mess with people's heads. Literally.
"Anyway, did you know Scar and Silas had a splash war without us yesterday?" James announced to the table and though both the dog and wolf raised a questioning eyebrow, India and Hope looked at him curiously.
"You and Scar?" Hope asked.
"Alone? In the water?" India finished.
Silas glared at them, "Yes."
Hope hummed and India muttered, "Interesting."
