Hope Mikaelson

Group projects are a tricky little thing. Most of the time there is always one person that ends up doing most (if not all) of the work. Well, unless the group is really admirably competent and evenly distributes the tasks at hand. Well, Hope Mikaelson's life was mainly like the former. Every time she was with her family she ended up having a harder job than the others. She didn't complain though because the main reason for that was because she was more competent. At least more than the twins; usually Scarlett and Silas had the same problem as her. That was why she now had the abhorring task of waking up India Lyra Mikaelson.
"We need to go, Indy!" Hope exclaimed as she pulled at India's foot. The latter gripping her bed's headboard for dear life. "Come on! Even your brother is awake! I heard him complain downstairs!"
"One more reason for me to stay here!" India groaned and Hope narrowed her eyes at the back of her cousin's head and pulled her leg harder. By harder, I mean that if India was human her leg would have been ripped off. "Stop using your wolfy strength on me, you bitch!"
"Not if you don't go to breakfast with me!" Hope retorted now pulling even harder.
"I'll go! I'll go!" India finally cracked and Hope let her foot fall with a smirk. She saw as India cradled her foot and glared at her. "Fuck's sake. You're so your father's daughter!"
"Why thank you, Indiana," Hope smiled only for India to glare harder.
Hope who was already dressed in her uniform, everything properly put (well, except the robes) and her hair put up on a ponytail, sat down on her bed as she waited for India to get dressed. She watched in amusement as India grimaced while picking up the uniform and came back from the bathroom with the shirt untucked in her skirt, the first three buttons opened, her tie as a headband, and her skirt a few good centimeters shorter (not that Hope could blame her as she also shortened hers).
"Hope?" India asked as she pointed to her head, "Like this —" her hair was now long and wavy, "— or this?" Her hair started to change, it was now shorter and had a red streak on it. Hope would never admit it but she was slightly jealous that India and James had that power they inherited from their mom but then she remembered she was a tribrid and smirked to herself.
"That one," Hope answered referring to the shorter one with the streak, "Now let's go, I'm starving!"
With that, she and India made their way down to the common room. The only ones there, mainly because they were running really late, were James and Silas. Hope didn't know where the marauders were but she did know that Lily and her other two roommates, who had introduced themselves that morning as Marlene and Alice, went ahead.
"Where're the marauders?" India asked as they got closer to the two boys,
"No, good morning handsome?" Silas pouted and Hope rolled her eyes whacking him around the head.
"They may be avoiding us after Divination," James said with a shrug and a grin as the group set off to the Great Hall. Hope and Silas who hadn't been there having already be filled in on the events of the class and were slightly put out they had to spend an hour in Runes.
When the group got to the Great Hall they took to sitting at the end of the Gryffindor table and were soon joined by Scar who sat down next to Silas opposite Hope.
Hope noted that the marauders were definitely avoiding them but were curious at the same time. Every time she would look at them, there was at least one head-snapping away from them, which made her chuckle.
Afterward, all of them except Scarlett, who had potions, had a free period (which caused a lot of ruckus from India). James and Silas had decided to go to the forbidden forest to talk to centaurs or something? So Hope and India decided to explore the Castle.
"Ooh!" India said excitingly as they walked past the statue of a gargoyle and pointed at it. "When we were six James climbed that thing and fell on his ass when I made it disappear!" Hope snorted as India laughed at the memory. The twins had never had the most ambiguous relationship but everyone knew they loved each other. Hope just found it very amusing that both of them only told stories about how the other got hurt and never talked about the time they dressed as knights and defeated Uncle Finn together. Hope was the priest that officiated the funeral and Scar was the princess they had to save. Silas was forced to play horse.
"Grandad took a picture," India continued, "It's somewhere in Tartaros."
"Have you ever been there?" Hope asked her cousin curiously.
"Nah," India shrugged and then turned to Hope, "Can Scar-guy feel you're a werewolf too?"
"He can." They heard a voice from behind them and simultaneously groaned. Hope and India turned around and saw the four (really good-looking) marauders looking at them smugly. As if they had just found something ground-breaking. Hope mentally snorted, they didn't even scratch the IP of the iceberg.
"I didn't know what it was at first, though. So you're a werewolf?" Lupin asked Hope and she rolled her eyes.
"Yeah," she answered nonchalantly. She had triggered the curse a few years back when she accidentally let tripped over some wires in the hospital and unplugged an old lady's oxygen supply. In her defense, she was getting blood bags for her Uncle Kol as he said they needed the training.
"You lot don't mind werewolves?" Remus asked with his head tilted and Hope frowned. "We're monsters."
"Woah, there!" Hope said, "Talk for yourself, Lupin," she scoffed and heard India laugh beside her.
"Of course we don't mind wolves," India added with a laugh, "Werewolves are awesome!"
"I can vouch for that," Hope smirked and the guys chuckled in amusement. "That's why you've been avoiding us?"
"That and —" Potter started saying but Hope saw as Black stepped on his foot.
"Yeah, sorry about that," Black said smirking at India, Hope noted. She mentally smirked too. "Where were you ladies heading to?"
"We're just walking. Free period and shit," India answered tilting her head slightly to the side at Black. Hope shook her head in amusement.
"Where's your brother and Parker?" Peter asked. Hope didn't know how on earth this guy became a traitor, she just wanted to smother him of how cute he was.
"They're exploring the forest. They said something about finding centaurs and unicorns," she answered with a smirk as the four of them had their jaws on the floor. She didn't know why though. Aren't they the marauders?
"They went there to purposely find centaurs?" Potter whistled. "Those are the ones you're supposed to avoid."
"My brothers don't really abide by the rules," India said with a shrug and Hope nodded with a face that said Very true indeed.
"What are you?" Peter asked suddenly with his head tilted. Hope and India shared a look. What?
"Awesome, gorgeous, spectacular?" India answered unsurely and the guys looked at her amused.
"We don't get the question," Hope said and Black cleared his throat and slightly glared at Pettigrew that was now red in embarrassment.
"What Wormy was trying to ask is, what's your blood status?" He said and Hope and India made the "Ah" sounds of understanding.
"Does it matter?" India asked back looking at him dead in the eyes and Hope saw as Sirius put his hands up in surrender.
"No. Of course not." Potter says quickly. "We really don't care about blood or that any of that crap."
"I was just curious," Peter said shyly and Hope only smiled.
"Great," Hope said, "Then we don't have to answer."
Not that they knew anyway. They weren't muggle-borns but they weren't purebloods either. In Hope's case, she was a third witch, werewolf, and vampire, now would that categorize her as a third-blooded witch?
"We have Transfiguration next." Lupin announced, "Do you want us to show you the way?" He asked his eyes trained on Hope, who honestly found it curious. Had he never met another werewolf before?
"Sure," Hope smiled and the group started walking again through the halls. At some point, Hope figured, India had totally forgotten about the marauders and turned to her pointing at a torch on the wall.
"Once I hit James in the head with that," India smiled at the memory and Hope shook her head, "Remember when he got to school with that black eye?"
Hope's mouth went agape, "I knew that story about how he got mugged but maimed the punk's ass was bullshit!"
"You hit your brother with that torch?" Black asked with an eyebrow raised and Hope saw as realization dawned on her cousin.
"Not that one," India said grimacing slightly, "Just one. And I didn't do it out of the blue! He cheated on a card game!" she shrugged and Hope laughed (along with the boys). Card games were really important for the family.
"Your hair looks different," Black stated out of the blue to India and Hope almost choked on her own spit trying not to laugh as India frowned. "Are you a metamorphmagus?"
"Bless you," Hope said and India snorted.
"Those witches who change appearance?" India asked and he nodded, "Sure, I can be that," she said shrugging. Hope shrugged too, what was she supposed to say? That she was a demigod who was also half-vampire?
"What do you mean sure?" Black asked his eyebrows drawn together and Hope watched as India only smirked and shrugged.
The rest of the walk was mainly Hope and Lupin talking about being a werewolf. Well, in Hope's case she was learning about what being a werewolf in that universe meant and she started wondering if her changing universes would change that. She hoped not, because right now she had the power to control her changes and shit. She did not want to lose that.
When they got to Transfiguration class they sat down on the tables. Hope as opposed to India who had her eyes drooping beside her found the class to be really interesting. And Professor McGonagall, or Minnie as the marauders had baptized her, was a really good teacher. She actually explained and demonstrated and helped the students.
Not that either of the four (Scarlett was having another class) needed help. To be honest they didn't need that class at all.
Ten minutes into the class had James and Silas hurrying through the door, they only grinned as McGonagall took points off them and took their seat behind Hope and India.
The rest of the class was learning about non-verbal spells. In particular the Vanishing spell. Hence the four of them along with their fake wands had fun making their beetles disappear with dramatic flares of their wands. Hope couldn't keep a straight face all throughout the class; every time she would look at either India, Silas, or James they would burst out laughing.
McGonagall, however, was rather impressed with them and told them their technic was flawless. Which wasn't true at all. Flaw number one, they didn't actually use wands. Flaw number two they didn't even use the spell give; though Hope tried to say it in her head, while she was sure India merely thought 'vanish' and the beetle obeyed. Other than them only, Remus, Potter, Black, and Lily (after some tries) were able to properly vanish the beetle.
After Transfiguration, they had History of Magic. Hope really, really tried to pay attention to class, but the monotone voice of the ghost teacher lulled her to sleep. It actually made her miss History in Hecate — where even though they learned about Origin of Vampires and The sun and the moon curse (which was fake and that's what they learned) they also branched out and learned normal history about civil wars and world wars.
In that class, Hope noted, James was the only one smart enough to bring a pillow, which she found amusing as the students watch him take it out of his bag (basically the only thing inside), dramatically fluffed it, and put it on top of the desk falling asleep within seconds.
Hope was shaken awake at the end of the class by James (her cousin) who grinned at her and pointed at the pillow. Hope rolled her eyes and looped her arm through his, both of them making their way out of the classroom behind India, Silas, and the marauders.
Hope didn't know what would happen in the future, or even if her dad would flip and come get her himself after being "separated" from his "littlest wolf" for more than a week; which she thought was so obnoxious, but she knew that it would be entertaining. They may as well stay and take care of the war as well. Save the universe and shit, like Ellie did when she got to theirs. Though according to the story she didn't save it, just enjoyed it and changed what she hated. Hope was grateful though, because if it weren't for her, her dad, mom, uncle Elijah, uncle Stefan, and most everyone would be dead.
"Hope?" James asked snapping her out of her daze. She turned with a smile to him.
"What?"
"Do you want to try and jump out of a tower?" James asked with a grin and Hope smiled — they wouldn't die, mind you, they would wear parachutes of course.
"Not today, Jamie," she said, "But I'll go with you another time."
"Fine. . . . Now come one, I'm starving and India Lyra will eat the whole feast if we don't get there in time."
