First Light :: 11/20

» Title :: 3/5

The title captures the theme of the story and is apt. It’s also quite intriguing and does it’s job of attracting readers. However, it is quite long, way longer than the average wattpad story title. This might make the viewer feel like the book itself will be a bit complex and they might lose their interest. I suggest changing it to something a bit shorter so you can keep the viewers engaged.

» Cover :: 5/10

The cover is well made, and the gloominess of the cover matches the plot. The colour scheme is also perfect. However, the cover looks quite boring, in comparison to other covers, the reason for this is being the absence of a face claim. Adding a face claim to the cover will help in catching the eyes of the viewers, because people do judge books by their covers. I also suggest adding a dialogue, or a one line description of the story to the cover to give the viewers a better idea of what is to come.

» Blurb :: 3/5

The blurb is well written and grammatically, there are no errors here. It also leaves the reader with a sense of intrigue about the climax of the story. However, it felt like way too many characters were talked about in the blurb, and their introduction in the blurb was quite abrupt. One moment, it felt like I was reading about Margo, and the next moment suddenly I’m reading about Aiden, who wasn’t mentioned before at all. This caused some confusion and was a turn off.

Dawn :: 7/10

The start of the story was quite interesting. It introduces a problem for the protagonist right at the start, which intrigues the reader and makes them want to continue with the story. The protagonist was introduced well, and the readers could understand her personality right from chapter 1. However, I felt like the pacing was way too fast. A plot like this needs to be racey, but it should not seem rushed. I felt like a lot of characters, emotions and problems were introduced right at the start, and this makes the reader lose their interest a bit deeper into the story.

Plot and Idea :: 20/20

The plot was probably the best part about the story. It was racey and fun to read. The trope was also quite unique, something that not many people chose to write about. It was something refreshing and enjoyable. Kudos!

Characters and Emotions :: 11/15

As I have already mentioned before under the ‘Dawn’ category, there was an abrupt and continuous introduction of new characters right from the start. There were so many things to comprehend throughout the book, and in an attempt to understand everything, the readers skip through a few aspects of each character. This makes their connection with the characters weak. While the reader is trying to understand the feelings and thought process of one character, the thoughts of another character or a completely new emotion is introduced, which ends up confusing the reader. I suggest slowing down the pace a bit, expanding a bit more on some of the emotions and characters so that the reader gets time to get into the shoes of the protagonist.

Writing Style :: 11/15

The writing style was good overall! The description was vivid and enjoyable. The flow was off in a few places, but this is quite common when a book is written in Third Person Omniscient. The pacing and the flow are the only things that need some improvement.

Grammar :: 20/20

There weren’t really any mistakes I could find under this section!

TOTAL :: 80/100

Reviewer's Note  :: This book was a great read! It could use some editing, but that’s all it needs. The plot was great and the readers were kept hooked throughout the story.
