In short, 2021 better be good or I'mma riot π€
Let's get into the story now...
Warnings: Strong language, stalking, etc....
Sentences in Italics represent Tsukishima's thoughts.
Tsukishima Kei's POV:
When everything around me was falling apart, I wished for a thing that worked for me. A thing that kept me together from shattering into pieces, a thing that kept me sane. For me, it was blood and death.
In that courtroom, looking at that so-called woman named [Y/N], I knew it was going to be her, from now on. A strange sense of attraction sparkled inside my head every time she walked across that courtroom; spewing lies just to protect her scum of a client. I must say, she was very good at it. The idea of her being something that I could control appeased me a little too much.
"I would like to submit exhibit 3-C into evidence." She disclosed and submitted some documents.
The exhibit only favored her plea to the court as a fact that this case doesn't stand a chance as the defender was never processed in. She also stated that her client was wrongfully taken into custody; any and all evidence collected against him was circumstantial and he was just a businessman who ships metal for manufacturing automobiles. She also submitted a contract made by the shipping company and the automobile manufacturer to prove her claim.
I liked the fact that she was cocky, arrogant and she was able to manipulate a room full of people in a courtroom that 'The Nuke' was innocent when everyone in that room knew better. She even put Ukai-san on the stand to cross-question him and I watched her twist his words that only favored her client in more ways than one. Yachi-san on the other hand looked like a fool for even taking on this case.
She was brilliant. She was intoxicating. She was something...
He was not acquitted of any charges due to reasonable doubt. There was no claim made towards the weapons-grade plutonium retrieved by Ukai-san's team but that son of a bitch was found 'not guilty' nonetheless. He was free to walk around and smuggle more as he pleased and the court's ruling made Ukai-san more frustrated.
As the judge ruled the case in her favor and that gavel hit the counter, a victorious glow radiated from her. She gave Ukai-san and Yachi-san a look; a smug, cunning look, and left the courtroom along with her client. I sat there in that courtroom and watched it all as if I was watching a full moon rise into the dark, murky sky.
It was a muse to watch. Maybe this day wasn't so bad. After all, it led me to meet her.
"I need a smoke," Ukai-san announced and rushed out of the courtroom.
"I did everything I could! I did my best and she was able to get him out of this. He was guilty, everyone here knows it and yetβ" Yachi-san began to blabber. I acted like a good gentleman and sat there, acting like I heard her out. But my head was filled with thoughts; thoughts of [Y/N]; thoughts so vile that made me calm and collected as a plan began to brew within.
Yachi-san and I left the court after she had calmed down and we walked into the lobby where Ukai-san was wandering about. He looked lost, angry, he looked like he was about to wreak havoc. Yachi-san suggested that I should talk to him and console him as she was downright scared to even go near him but I don't console anyone. It wasn't my thing. Riling someone up or better yet, rubbing salt on their wounds was something that I do quite often and I was excellent at it.
However, I had to go and talk to him, after all, he was my superior and I did talk, more like distract. I queried him about the case that Sawamura-san was discussing in the morning and it was almost like fate; almost. She marched next to Ukai-san while we were having a confidential conversation about the murder at Karasuno High and she stood still like she hadn't just released a wild animal back into the streets. She was quite the artist.
Her presence next to me made me want to push her into a wall, choke her and make her beg for air, make her beg for mercy, make her beg for me. I wanted to know how she would smell when she felt fear. I wanted to see what her eyes would reflect when she cowered beneath my grasp. I wanted to break her confidence but I also wanted to be her savior. It was conflicting. We haven't even spoken a word yet and she made me feel things. She had already gotten all of my attention.
I wonder how I am going to insert myself into her life...
"What? Come to gloat?" Ukai-san questioned her perspective. He was certainly annoyed. After all, he lost the case.
"Aww looks like you are a little overwhelmed by emotions." She mocked him with no remorse or whatsoever. She even wore a mischievous grin on her face like a little kid. She reminded me of myself but only a little.
"Are you finished?" Ukai-san asked, irked, brushing her off.
"Actually, no. Can I get you anything? Tissue? Some chocolate? Tampons?" She ridiculed him again, holding in her chuckle and he rolled his eyes but a small smile appeared on his face. He returned to our conversation explaining the findings of the case so far but she just stood there listening in on our conversation.
She was a meddler.
"Excuse me, but I am going to have to ask you to leave. We are discussing something confidential here!" I demanded her, looking at her tiny little frame next to mine. Never did I imagine I needed excuses to talk to her. God, she was a sight to look at. It wasn't like she looked as beautiful as a nymph but it was as if God took his time in making this one as he did with me.
"Oh, so the Titanosaur speaks!" she taunted. She didn't even require a second to come up with something so lame. Apparently, it was supposed to be an insult.
"What?" I asked like any other human would. On the contrary, I heard her loud and clear. Women like her usually enjoy having an upper hand in every conversation and I just played along.
"Never mind, I was just waiting for something. I can wait." She declared and peeped into Ukai-san's phone who immediately switched it off.
"Fine. Let's get this over with." Ukai-san exhaled a breath. He looked like he was so done with her.
"Good!"
"Here is your 2000 yen. Happy now?" he handed her over the money from his purse and she looked giddy and excited like a child.
"That's all? Aren't you forgetting something?" she added, a playful smile engraved on her red tainted lips.
"You won the case. You are the best lawyer in this city. I am proud of you and I owe you one!" he recited and she seemed satisfied with it.
"Oh! and next time, shoot the guy in the damn head. Maybe take megane-kun (glasses/four eyes) with you. Maybe megane-kun here would have a better aim with a sniper. I mean, he must have killed a person or two in the past."
She knows!
"You are calling me old or you are saying I don't have a good aim?"
"Don't you know me? You know I meant both!"
"Wait. How did you know? That I haveβ"
"That you have killed? Oh please, I read people for a living!" she scoffed.
She was made for me.
Ukai-san gave me a look for interjecting their stupid conversation. I backed off and he continued, "If you hated that guy that much, why did you help him? Why did you agree to be his attorney?"
"You should have gone for the head, Thor. The head." She pointed to her forehead with her fingers, made it up like a gun but she fired it at me. She also acted like she was blowing out the smoke from the gun while she gave me a look from top to bottom. Her eyes scanned me and it felt like she was looking for a vulnerability and, in an instant, she began to walk away.
"Hey! You shouldn't say such things and walk away like you didn't!" β he yelled out loud which she brushed off and the minute her head vanished behind a wall, he commanded β "Call Kuroo and Akaashi. Tell them 'The Nuke' is on the move. We need to prepare for the next operation. This time, we are going for the head."
I made a call to the HQ and conveyed my superiors the same. Throughout that call, all I could wonder was how this woman just broke the attorney-client privilege and gave us a lead. She was a piece of work. She was interesting and I certainly cannot get her off my mind.
Later, Ukai-san and I thanked Yachi-san for trying her best and we discussed the abduction and murder case for a while as we walked around the court. A few moments later, Ukai-san asked me to drop his sister-in-law off at Igarashi motors on the way back to the HQ as he had an emergency to attend to. He also mentioned that I should meet up with Daichi-san as soon as I reached the office while he left in a taxi, in a hurry.
I followed his order and walked back to the parking lot and there she was, leaning on the car. She had been waiting for me and it showed. She was to travel with me and it was a chance to get to know more about her. Tempting as it may, I wanted to test a theory and so I did.
"You drivers think it is okay to make me wait?"
I walked towards the door but she wouldn't let me in. She stood in front of the door, blocking my way. She continued to look at me, demanding an answer. If she was that good of a lawyer, she should know that I was baiting her by not answering.
"Move," I commanded after a short pause, taking in her form, her smell, and especially the color of her eyes.
"What? You'll kill me if I don't?" she chuckled, moving a step towards me.
You don't want to know the answer to that!
"Ukai-san left. Looked like an emergency. If you need something, call him!" I played coy, moving past her.
"What I need is for you to drop me off at Igarashi Motors on your way back to the headquarters. I have a deposition in 20 minutes." She instructed and closed the door that I had just opened.
"What? Didn't your parents teach you not to get into a car with a stranger?" I scorned in response, flashing my innocent grin. I inched in closer hoping that she would take a step back, that she would be intimidated by my action.
"Please! You think you can hurt me?" she scoffed, rolling her eyes. She didn't budge. She wasn't intimidated by me or my height for that matter.
I leaned next to her ear and whispered, "You never know."
As I was about to stand back up straight, her tiny little fingers encased themselves around my tie. She held me there and whispered back, "Hmm, you are stalling."
Her breath against my neck ignited something within my already corrupt soul. The need to know everything about her amplified exponentially but I had to keep my composure. I had to keep my play going on. I needed her to believe that I wasn't interested in her. She has to be the one to fall into my trap and I for one needed more information and yet I was ready to gamble.
"I don't use government assigned vehicles for personal purposes and I sure as hell don't drive a taxi for you to hop in as you please!" I bit her head off, adjusting my tie as I stood tall.
"Ahhhh, I get it. You don't like me!"
Well, well, a royal flush.
"You picked on that too late. I thought you read people for a living?"
"Look, I know that he asked you to drop me so, let's stop pretending that he didn't."
"I am not letting you inside this car. So, what are you going to do about it? You are going to run to daddy and complain like a 12-year-old?"
She was flabbergasted. She couldn't say a word. Which meant that my plan was sailing, smooth. She looked around, biting her inner cheek, unable to be the smartass bitch that she was a moment ago.
All of a sudden, her stance changed as she looked me in the eye and declared "Here is what I am going to do. I am going to hand you a 100 yenβ"
"You think you can bribe me?" I cut her off.
She hysterically laughed and continued, "This is a tip for entertaining me while I waited for my chauffeur."
She shoved the money into my coat pocket and walked towards a black Lexus which was probably her firm's vehicle. She waved me a bye with a wide smile and yelled, "Oh! I forgot to tell you something. You drive like a grandma!"
On top of that, her car moved along in the most inconvenient timing possible. I could have said something in return; I could have but I stood in awe. She left me alone, standing in that parking lot like an idiot wondering how she fooled me. However, that was the moment I realized that she a manipulator and she was good at it, she was probably better than I was at fooling people.
Ahhhh, shit. I suppose she's way past my league. But, was I going to stop?
I casually drove my car right behind her Lexus. I certainly didn't plan on stalking her this soon but I wasn't going to pass this opportunity. Her car stopped after a while but it was nowhere near Igarashi motors. She walked a few steps down the street and into an alleyway as she met with someone who looked professional, wearing a three-piece suit. Even though I didn't get out of my car, I was able to see what was happening there. It was certainly suspicious.
Just how many men are in her life? What was he to her? A co-worker? A client? A secret lover?
They were having an intense conversation which was rather too friendly to my liking. Except, in the blink of an eye, this conversation had turned violent. Her wimpy hand landed on his face. His pale skin now had a handprint on his cheek as his head hung low. He frantically began to apologize as he bowed down before her while she stood there rolling her eyes into the back of her head.
What the hell is happening? Shit, I can't make out what they are actually talking about!
I hid myself well enough and as I expected, she never noticed me. They caught a cab after a short and 'friendly' conversation with one another on the sidewalk while I continued to follow her until I got stuck. Fucking red light. I didn't have the luxury to speed up and follow their taxi as I was an officer of the law and not just a traffic police.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck...
I moved along towards my destination as the lights turned green. It was pointless to mull over this so, I decided to collect more information on her. I was already obsessing over her; her demeanor, her voice, her charm, and everything else. One might even call this process, stalking but who cares. I reached the HQ and reported back to Daichi-san who in return asked me to meet up with Kuroo-san who was now in-change of the murder case in Miyagi.
I entered Kuroo-san's office only to find him glaring at his computer. I made my presence known to him by knocking at the door and he muttered, "Coffee please."
"Excuse me?"
"I am pretty sure I said 'please'β" he stopped himself from saying more as he looked up from the computer screen.
"Oh, you are notβ"
"Yeah, I'm not."
In a whoosh, a loud imbecile entered Kuroo-san's office yelling, "Did someone say coffee?" and made himself at home on the couch beside the desk.
"Bokuto, I have a headache. So, whatever it is you are about to say, just don't." Kuroo-san glared at the man to which the loud guy, Bokuto, who laughed like an idiot.
"Fine then. Yoo, Megane-kun (four eyes) I think I will have coffee too. Make it with extra sugar!" he ordered with a vibrant smile and turned back to Kuroo-san who was busy scouring through the files.
I, on the other hand, stood there without moving an inch. I wasn't the office peon to serve these guys with their demands. I was an officer and it was high time these guys knew that I don't roll and bark when they ask me to.
"Who is this girl giving you a hard time?" Bokuto-san queried as he walked next to Kuroo-san.
"What?"
"It is not a headache, it's a hangover. Isn't it? You had a fun night, right?" Bokuto-san asked as he ruffled Kuroo-san's hair which was already looking like a cuckoo's nest.
Yeah, he possibly had 'the best night of his life' with the woman I am currently obsessing over.
"Stop. I can't tell you anything about her because it's not official yet. So, can I do my job now?"
Kuroo-san is keeping it a secret on the other hand she openly declared everything there is to know about them to Ukai-san. What the hell is going on in that smart head of hers?
"Oh, you haven't gotten our coffee..." Bokuto-san dragged with a disheartened look on his face as he looked at me with a frown.
"I don't plan on making it in the first place!" I asserted.
"Why? Because you suck at it?"
What the actual fuck?
"Bokuto-san, here you are. Didn't I tell you to come by my office to discuss the vantage points for our coming operation?" A guy with steel-blue eyes unexpectedly entered the room. He looked calm and collected and his voice sounded familiar. He was probably Akaashi Keiji, Assistant commissioner β Organized Crime.
"Eh, you did?" Bokuto-san asked, confused.
A small conversation began to brew within the three officers about an operation Akaashi-san was working on while Kuroo-san asked me to get updated on the Miyagi case. Kuroo-san and the other two left the room along with their discussion as I was looking through the case files. However, this was my chance. Kuroo-san had left his computer on; exposed. I looked around for security cameras inside the office and there was none.
I am going to collect some basic information about her before I begin to learn everything there is to know about her.
I entered her name into the records using Kuroo-san's ID and there it was. From her birthday to her national identity card number, I had them all on one screen. Technically, it was a crime to go through someone's file without a court order but I did; I just had to. Even if someone found out about this little investigation on [F/N] [L/N] as I would like to call it, it would have been Kuroo-san. I would be off the hook.
I am coming for you [Y/N] ...
I was about to make a note of all the information I needed about her on my phone but then I remembered what happened with my ex-girlfriend. I wasn't going to make the same mistake again. Besides, [Y/N] is smart; she would figure out everything even if there was nothing to find. I needed to be extra careful and this was probably the best chase I was ever going to have in my life.
This time, you cannot escape me [Y/N] ... I just wonder if you are going to be prepared for me is all.
"Tsukishima-kun, you got it all?" Kuroo-san's head appeared again in his office, disrupting my wave of thoughts. This time, he was alone, and in fact, he was asking about the case but I got it all. I got everything I needed, about the case and her.
"Hai! (Yes, sir)," I promptly answered, hiding my smile.
"Alright then, let's get moving. We have got a murder to solve!"
A/N:
How was it?
