Auriella rushed down the ladder to the lower floor. She felt as if her chest was about to explode. She had tears brimming her waterlines, a few already starting to fall. Even if she wanted to, she couldn't focus on the words that had just been spoke to her. She needed to meet Clarke and go get Jasper.
She wiped the tears off her cheeks and calmed her heart. She took one last deep breath as she walked out of the dropship. She started walking towards where Clarke was supposed to meet her but was stopped by Octavia.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Octavia's voice echoed in her ears. "Nothing, i'm fine." Auriella tried to shake Octavia off. "No, you're not, you're crying." Octavia persisted.
Auriella tilted her head back, trying to keep the tears in. Maybe the tears had already stained her cheeks. She tried to hide the anger and sadness she was feeling, but apparently, she didn't hide it well enough. Even if they did, she didn't have time to worry about it, she really needed to get to Clarke.
"Octavia, I promise, I'm fine. I have to go meet Clarke." Auriella tried to give her a small smile as she started to walk away. "Hey, wait. Be safe." Octavia whispered as she gave the brunette a quick hug.
Auriella's eyes widened at the sudden movement, instinctively wrapping her hands around Octavia's back. She slightly nuzzled her face into the crook of Octavia's neck, somehow finding comfort in it. "Thank you. You be safe too." Auriella mumbled as she pulled away and once again started walking towards where Clarke was.
"Auriella, finally." Clarke sighed as Auriella walked up to her. Auriella simply shook her head and walked straight past Clarke. The blonde's brows furrowed, not being used to the coldness from Auriella.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Clarke grabbed Auriella's wrist and spun her around to face her. "Why does everybody keep asking me that?" Auriella questioned, clenching her jaw.
Clarke looked up at Auriella, noticing the tear stains on the cheek that wasn't covered in cuts. She sighed, realizing what could've happened between her and Luka.
"What happened between you two?" Clarke whispered. She watched as Auriella hesitated, biting the inside of her cheek as if trying to keep more tears in.
"I don't have a sister anymore apparently." Auriella mumbled as she turned around and started walking, not wanting to talk anymore about it. "Auriella, i'm sorry, I-
-i'm fine. Just leave it alone, Clarke." Auriella stopped Clarke from talking anymore about it. She really didn't feel like talking about it. She could barely think about it without it bringing more tears to her eyes.
Clarke stopped as she watched Auriella walk. She furrowed her brows at the name that left the brunette's lips. She felt weird being called by her actual name coming from her. For some reason, she couldn't control the thoughts that filled her mind from it.
How come she didn't call me by her usual nickname for me?
Was she really that upset about it, or at me?
"Hey, hold up." Bellamy raised his voice over the overgrown greenery. Auriella couldn't be bothered to answer, she was determined to get Jasper back. She knew she was in front of everyone, but she didn't care. They could fall behind all they wanted.
"What's the rush? You don't survive a spear through the heart." Bellamy continued as he came in front of Auriella, holding his gun up. "Put the gun away, Bellamy." Wells spoke up, stepping in front of Bellamy.
"Well, why don't you do something about it, huh?" Murphy came from behind Bellamy and shoved his palm against Wells's shoulder. "Jasper screamed when they moved him. If the spear struck his heart, he'd have died instantly. It doesn't mean we have time to waste." Clarke spoke and tried to turn around but was grabbed by Bellamy, holding her wrist with the band on it.
"Don't touch her." Auriella stepped forwards, glaring up at Bellamy. "As soon as you take this wristband off, we can go." Bellamy smirked at Clarke, paying no mind to Auriella.
Auriella continued to glare at Bellamy as Clarke pulled her hand back and stepped slightly closer to him, eyeing him. "The only way the ark is gonna think i'm dead is if i'm dead. Got it?" Clarke spoke, her voice stern.
"Brave princess." Bellamy stepped back; his smirk still plastered on his face. "Hey, why don't you find your own nickname." A voice Auriella recognized as Finn's came from behind the trees.
"You call this a rescue party? Got to split up, cover more ground. Clarke come with me." Finn said as him and Clarke started to walk but stopped when he was met with Auriella's hand on his chest.
"Hold up, i'm going with you." Auriella looked between the two, seeing Finn's smile fade and a small smile come onto Clarke's. "Why?" Finn questioned.
"Because I said I was going to protect her and the only way I can do that is if i'm with her. So, I'm going with you." Auriella raised her brows, making sure her point was made.
Finn rolled his eyes as he shook his head slightly and started to walk again, now having Auriella beside Clarke. She saw as Clarke turned her gaze towards her and smiled up at her.
She felt a small blush fill her cheeks, giving her a small smile back. "Better late than never." Clarke turned back to Finn. "I like to think so." Finn said as he turned his head, looking at the boys behind him.
Auriella watched as Clarke stifled a laugh and shook her head, not caring to look back at the boys. As long as they were away from Bellamy and Murphy, Auriella felt better.
As they made their way through the forest, they had spotty conversations here and there mainly between Finn and Clarke. He was really determined to talk to her. Auriella was mainly focused on Jasper and the fact that at any moment, one of them could get hit with a spear through the chest.
"I've been thinking about mount weather. How come they didn't attack until Jasper crossed the river? It's not like we were being quiet, and they didn't know we were there." Finn spoke, breaking Auriella out of her thoughts.
"They waited for us to cross. The river's a boundary." Clarke spoke, turning to face Finn as she realized. "Which means mount weather is off limits." Finn inquired.
"How are we gonna get those supplies? I mean what are we gonna do for food?" Clarke scoffed as she looked towards Auriella. "There has to be a different way to get to mount weather. I mean the river might not run around the whole mountain, right?" Auriella questioned, looking towards Clarke, acting as if Finn wasn't there.
Nobody answered Auriella as Finn started to jog off to the edge of the forest, stopping at a tree and looking out. Auriella watched as Clarke followed. She rolled her eyes at the lack of a response to her question and followed Clarke to where Finn stood.
"Wow." Clarke simply spoke as the trio looked out towards the waterfall that fell down from the river above. "Well, at least we don't have to worry about water." Clarke continued as they started to wade across the river.
"Well, guess I was right." Auriella stifled a laugh as they started to stand in deeper water. Finn went right in and started splashing water on himself, Auriella followed in his footsteps as she began to cool herself down with the water.
She turned around to see what Clarke was doing. All she was doing was collecting water. She was always so serious; she did need to let loose a little. "Oh, yeah." Finn sighed as he turned around and faced Clarke.
Auriella saw as he splashed water on the blonde, causing her to freeze and turn around to him. "Come on, Finn. We don't have time for this." Clarke shoved off his advanced for her to relax.
"Clarke, we've been hiking for hours. We need to take a break." Finn protested. "I'll take a break when we find Jasper. Come on." Clarke spoke as she started to walk back towards her bag.
Auriella rolled her eyes as she stepped out of the river, slightly splashing Clarke. "See Auriella gets it." Clarke raised her eyebrows at Finn.
"I wouldn't be so sure of that." Auriella whispered as she grabbed Clarke's hand, stopping to let Clarke realize what she was doing. "No, no, no." Clarke spoke as the realization hit her.
Auriella needed her to let loose a little and if she had to force it, she would. She needed this too. After what happened with Luka before she left, she needed it to leave her mind even if it was only for a second. This was the way to do it.
"Auriella! Don't!" Clarke raised her voice as she felt Auriella's grip tighten and start to drag her in the water. "Sorry, captain." Auriella smirked as she fully submerged Clarke into the water.
"Damn it, Ella!" Clarke yelled as she splashed water on her face. Auriella simply laughed at all Clarke's reaction. 'Oh, wow. Ok. Maybe just a minute." Auriella watched as Clarke let the cold water submerge and relax her.
"Yeah?" Auriella chuckled as she smiled over at Clarke. Auriella saw as Finn started to wade over to them, looking towards Clarke. "I think I know why you're so hell-bent on finding Jasper, why you're always taking care of everyone else." Finn spoke.
"Now you sound like my mother." Clarke scoffed. "No. Go on. This should be good. The delinquent psychiatrist." Clarke continued. "You couldn't save your father." Finn spoke.
Auriella watched as Clarke's face fell. Of course, Finn was the one to ruin the mood. "Way to ruin the mood, dickhead." Auriella scoffed.
Auriella looked from Finn to Clarke, watching as Clarke's brows furrowed and her gaze focused on something across the river. Auriella immediately followed as Clarke started to get out of the water.
The brunette watched as Clarke went up to a rock with blood splattered across it, a handprint prominent on the top of one. The trio shared looks as they inspected it more.
Clarke bent down, digging in-between two rocks and pulled something out. "Jasper. He was here." Clarke whispered as she pulled out his googles. "We should get the others." Clarke said as Finn started to walk around the rock, searching for something. "His handprint. How could he do that if he was dead?" Auriella commented, looking towards Clarke. "Maybe he's not." Clarke spoke.
Auriella watched as he bent down and swiped his hand over the rock, the blood coating his fingers. "We're close." Finna spoke as he looked towards the mountain in front of them.
