FINDING WHERE KATARA AND AANG WERE WASN'T THAT HARD FOR THE GIRL TO FIGIRE OUT, KNOWING HOW KATARA WANTED TO TRAIN HER BENDING, AND SHE KNEW THERE WAS A LAKE NEAR THE VILLAGE HIDDIN IN THE FOREST. (Y/N) pushed through the tree brunches blocking her view, making funny noises at them being in her face as she airbenders some leaves fallen in her already messy hair.
Her thoughts were running faster than she could keep up, and they all mostly consisted of the male whom she saw practically naked before, Sokka. Whenever she did think of him now, a weird bubbly feeling would stir in her stomach, and it both annoyed and intrigued her.
A groan escaped her lips seeing another flash of his smirk face, with his hair down that was wet, and had droplets rolling down his chest. She grumbled shaking away those images, walking more out of the forest. Her eyes finding Katara by the water moving her hands around, while Aang stood near her reading off the waterbending scroll.
Katara was managing to move the water in front of her a bit easier now, as a small wave was being created swaying back and forth. Next she moved her hands in a circular motion, which created a small water bubble that appeared out from the river and floated above it in the air.
(Y/N) was tempted to copy the girl moves from behind, knowing she needed to master waterbending also to become the Avatar. Her connection to water was spiking up the more she got closer to the river, and watched Katara successfully aim that water straight at a tree trunk without losing it.
"Amazing! You're a natural." Aang praised in a excited voice, bouncing from foot to foot in his spot as he smiled at his sister who finally made herself seen by them, "(Y/N)! Nice of you to join us."
She stood beside him with a large grin, arms crossed over her chest as she looks to Katara who turned back to gape at her, "He's right. You're very talented." She also praised smiling at the shy younger girl, "You'll have to teach me those moves."
"Well, these are just the easy forms." Katara retorted, tucking a piece of her loose lock behind her ear, flashing a sheepish smile at the Avatar and motioned to the scroll in Aang's hand, "Soon, I'll be able to learn the advance ones."
The airbenders shared a small look with each other, before (Y/N) walked forward a bit to gently grab Katara's hand in hers making the girl tense, "Don't sell yourself sort. You caught on quickly." She gently scolded the flustered girl staring at her shyly, "You're a real waterbending, Katara. And a good one at that."
Katara hummed in the back of her throat, gaze moving to their connected hands as she squeezed (Y/N)'s hand softly in gratefulness, "You know, you should be practicing too." She remined slightly with a head tilt, not noticing the girls change of mood, "The Avatar needs to master all four elements."
Aang stared worriedly at his best friend sensing how uncomfortable she suddenly got, and knew she was second guessing something again. She sucked in air between her teeth, and patted Katara's hand gently, "There will be time for that later. You must practice now, not me."
Her tone was blunt carrying a sharp edge to it, as she dropped Katara's hand, and span her body around to walk back towards the concerned Aang. That was until Katara's voice called out to her, "I can't imagine what it's like knowing you'll have to save the world, but avoiding practice doesn't mean you'll avoid the responsibility."
"I know." She sighed out feeling guilty, face scrunching up a bit remembering her father and the days on end where she would train with him beside Aang, "It's just Gyatso used to be the one who trained me." Her words came out a bit painfully, feeling Aang's hand clasp hers tightly as she smiled slightly at him for the comfort, "I've never really trained with anyone else. But... it doesn't mean I can't try."
Katara's face softened into a look of understanding, and nodded her head, "It's alright. We'll do this together." She gently reassured smiling, meaning herself, Sokka and Aang, and that they wouldn't leave her, "We're not going anywhere."
"Yeah, you're stuck with us!" Aang chirped through a giggle, his arm wrapping around his best friend one whom snickered fondly and tugged him into a suffocating hug. He whined her name in an attempt to escape her tight hug, while she rocked them from side to side playfully laughing, as Katara smiled softly watching the pair interact.

WHAT THE THREE EXPECTED GOING BACK TO THE VILLAGE WAS FOOD, BUT WHAT THEY SAW WAS SOMETHING THEY NEVER THOUGHT THEY'D GET TO SEE, NOT IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFETIMES. Laughs were echoing through the hut they were placed in, as Sokka was sat by the table full of food with a grumpy look over his face. He knew his group was laughing at him, and he didn't blame them.
Suki had decided for the sake of (Y/N) to paint Sokka's face in their traditional Kyoshi makeup, which made his face entirely white, lips that were painted red, and had heavy eyeshadow on top of his eye sockets. He would of gotten into their gear also, but he ran away before Suki and the other warriors would do it.
Katara and Aang snickered under their breaths sitting next to each other on the floor, their knees touching the table and the side of one another's. Their gazes were on the cackling (Y/N), who was at the top of the table holding onto her stomach from how much she was laughing.
"Yeah, yeah. Laugh it up sweetheart." He grumbled rolling his eyes at her, thankful for the washcloth he had been given to wipe away the makeup. He was also thankful the makeup was hiding how red his cheeks were, because if she saw he would become more of a laughing stock.
She breathed heavily a bit trying to calm herself down, chuckling some more as she wipes away the tears under her lashes, "I'm so sorry, Sokka-" She wheezed out, lifting up a hand to poke the side of his cheek were his tanned skin was peeking through, "you look so funny like that."
His eye twitched a bit more flustered, and gently smacked her hand away from his face. He grumbled some more to himself, and lifted his head up from the table. He was suddenly staring at her closely, finding himself in trance at how radiant she looked while smiling. He wanted to hear her laughter more, and he knew deep down it would become one of his favorite sounds.
Beautiful... he thought to himself now realising he actually mumbled it out loud, enough that his sister and Aang heard, but the girl didn't hear from her giggling. The other two sent the blushing Sokka a smug look, matching grins over their faces which had him snapping his gaze away from (Y/N), continuing on cleaning himself.
When she calmed down from her hysterical laughter, she raised her hands up to her chest and back down to exhale heavily. She then sent Sokka a soft smile now, which had his heart flipping not expecting it, "In all seriousness, you actually look really good in it, water boy."
"Uh, erh w-well-" He stammered a bit over his words, mentally scolding himself as he ignored the more teasing stares from the other two, and returned the girls smile with a flustered one, "thanks, sky girl. Even though you did laugh at me, for like 10 minutes straight."
She sheepishly shrugged her shoulder at his deadpanning expression, and giggled some more as the makeup was almost off his face now. She picked up a rice ball to munch on, which instantly made her hum into it tasting the delicious food, as the others got to eating also.
The four of them were now all feasting on the many plates of food in front of the, which started where (Y/N) was sat and ended right up to the end of the table. There was a selection of pastries, meat, fruits, rice and other delicious foods that they all enjoyed, and it satisfied their hungry stomachs.
"Not home cooking, but not bad." Sokka commented after a few minutes of silence, words being muffled by the food in his mouth, earning him smiles and nods from the others, while (Y/N) gently kicked his knee under the table for poor manners that had him glaring playfully.
She picked up a chicken skewer at the same time as him, causing their fingers to brush against each others. The two flinched a bit at the contact, and sent sheepish smiles to one another as Sokka motioned for her to take one first. She did with a grateful hum, and he too a skewer next.
However before he could even taste it, something or rather someone who flew down and snatched it from Sokka's grasp. Momo squeals landing onto a roof beam, the one whom took the food as (Y/N), Aang and Katara all laugh watching that happen, even more so at the male's reaction.
"Just try that again, drumstick." Sokka sneered in warning up at Momo who cooed like he was laughing, and happily munched on the food he took, while the male huffed at the lemur so more making the others laugh some more amused.
Her (E/C) eyes flickered away from the scene inside when she head chatter outside, face paling a bit when she spotted the village's children peeking inside at her and Aang. She mentally screamed when one of them jogged inside, and was coming right up to where she and her younger brother was sat.
"Are you two really airbenders?" The young child's voice was soft, her face full of curiously as she stared down at the two best friends who smiled knowingly at another before both standing up in their spots.
While Aang went to airbend one of the spoons in his palm, (Y/N) lifted her arms up above her head which created a strong gust that was sent towards the children, who all squealed and giggled feeling the gently breeze blowing past them. They all gasped in amazement at their display, Katara smiled brightly at them while Sokka grumbled and went back to stuffing his face, but only slightly felt in awe of the girl.
The little girl reached forward to grab both of their arms, beaming up at the childhood duo excitedly, "Come outside and play! We wanna see more, please!" She both asked and pleaded with the airbenders, who grinned and nodded in sync to her words.
(Y/N) really wanted to eat some more food, but had to push that aside when her and Aang were pulled outside towards the other children, all of them laughing and giggling at the pair. As this happened, Sokka was already standing up realising the girl wasn't inside anymore and walked outside to the stairs of the hut, Katara right beside him watching the scene.
Aang was chasing around the kids playing tag, while the girl was using her bending to lift up a few of the children and each time they were, happy giggles escaped them. Smiles and excitement was radiant from inside the village square, even more so when some of the young girl began to braid and place flowers into her (H/C) locks.
"You gotta admit, she has a way with people." Katara started to speak to her brother fondly, both of them watching (Y/N) interact with the group of children and how some of them were on her shoulders now running around, "She knows how to connect, to get through to people like she did last night. That's her real power, connection. Building bridges."
Now the best friends were using their bending to play air scooter, it being spherical "ball" of air that can be ridden balancing on it like a top, which they were doing. (Y/N) and Aang were riding around each other on the air, laughs leaving them as they tried to bump the other off their scooter while the kids watch excited.
"That's how she's gonna be the Avatar."
Katara spoke to soon because just as those words left her mouth, the airbending duo suddenly ran into each other harshly, causing (Y/N) to stumble off balance and ram into the statue near the cliff with a grunt instantly knocking her off the scooter. All the kids laughed amused at her being upside down on the floor, as Aang panicked and ran over to check on his groaning sibling.
Sokka grimaced at the fall she just did, and shakes his head with a knowing sigh at another display of her clumsiness, "Right. There goes the savour of the world." He spoke sacractstlly, before biting into the piece of green fruit he had in his hand. His lips perk up a bit when (Y/N)'s laughter rings through his ears, and saw how she was sat up surrounded by the kids on the floor, all asking her questions.

THE SUN SET THE SKY A ORANGEY HUE LATER THAT AFTERNOON WHEN THINGS CALMED DOWN, AND THE VILLAGE WASN'T AS CHAOTIC AS IT WAS BEFORE SINCE MOST WERE IN THEIR HUTS. Currently inside Avatar Kyoshi's statue near the entrance of the village, (Y/N), Aang and Katara were inside looking through all the scrolls, books and notes that were kept in there for useful information.
A frustrated groan escaped (Y/N)'s mouth holding a notebook in her grasp, and shot a small gust of air at the candle beside her on the floor making it fade a bit, "Nothing. Nothing about the Avatar state or any of her powers." She grunted out placing the unhelpful book aside, "Nothing that can help me train. So how am I supposed to figure out how to save the world? How do I stop the Fire Nation from hurting more people?"
Her voice got lower and sadder with each word she said, and runs her fingers through her feeling even more stressed now. She didn't know what to do, nothing was her that could help her. She had all this power, but could't even control it which meant no saving the world not the people whom need her the most.
Aang looks up from his spot beside Katara flickering through the scrolls on the table, his face dropping into a guilty one watching his sister's inner battle with herself. He really wish he could do more for her, but all he could do was support and be here for her when she needed him the most, which was right now.
"Did you know she was an orphan?" Katara's voice suddenly speaks up breaking the silence in the room, causing (Y/N)'s head to snap up hearing the new information as she related to that on a different level and stood up to walk over to the duo at the small desk.
"Lived on the streets until she was hired by a house girl for the richest family on the island." The waterbending kept telling the best friends, showing them a drawn picture of young Kyoshi in the book she had with writing, "She was quiet and kind. No one had a clue she'd become the Avatar."
(Y/N) lifted up her hand from it being placed on Aang's shoulder, her eyes flickering to something on the wall beside them, "Yeah, so how did she got from this..." She trailed off pointing at the painting of Kyoshi, seeing her in the warrior gear and paint with her fans as she controlled all four elements easily, ".... to that?"
"'Only justice will bring peace'." Katara and Aang both read of from the writing inside the picture, standing on either side of the anxious girl looking at the magnificence drawing of the eartbending Avatar, who was destroying her enemies.
Her (E/C) eyes glossed over a bit turning away from the picture, a sigh leaving her lips as she fiddled with the bracelet around her wrist, "I really don't like fighting unless is necessary, and I'm afraid of hurting someone." She began to talk catching the two's attention now.
She stood in front of one of Kyoshi's other outfits, seeing how it was a beautiful kimono being hung up along with her fan weapons, "Back home at the air temple, the other kids used to say I was a natural and was lucky because I never really had to train." Her voice no longer held it's normal cheery side to it, as it was now deeper and serious as her gaze found Aang's sad frown, "But I did have to train. A lot more then a normal airbender should."
Aang knows exactly what his best friend was talking about, and still remembers that day like it was yesterday. No matter how many times he told her it was only an accident, the girl still thought it was her fault, and would continue to blame herself no matter how may times he reassured her.
Her eyelids fluttered a bit giving a flashback of how she almost killed Aang, and a few other airbenders. She was training one day in front of the masters, and ended up using too much of her bending which sent most of them flying off the cliff, which included her best friend. She also didn't even realise her earthbending came into play there also, when she stomped her feet onto the floor below her.
"Not to develop my powers but to try and keep them under control." She swallowed the lump in her throat mumbling, never getting over how fearful and guilty she felt in that moment, and she avoided the eyes on her, "No one said anything afterwards expect for Aang, but I could tell they saw me differently. I knew they were scared of me."
Katara and Aang shared a frown between each other, their faces soft listening to her words as they stood back a bit to give her the space she needed. Aang did want to walk over and hold her hand for reassurance, but knew it was best to leave her alone while she talked.
"Just like how you guys, and Sokka were when I went into the Avatar state." Her eyes moved back to the duo for a few seconds, heart clenching inside her chest also remembering the accident back at the temple, and looked down the floor with a teary gaze now overthinking, "What if nothing in here can help me? What if I never learn how to control my power? How many people will I hurt or get hurt-"
"But imagine what'll happen if you don't even try, (N/N)." Aang's calm voice spoke over the stressed girls one, causing her head to slowly snap up to him, and he was stood in front of her now, taking her trembling hands into his tightly, "I know you're scared, and that's okay. One small step at a time, alright? And I'll be here every step."
She bit down on her bottom lip hesitantly, her hands squeezing his tightly also as she goes to nod her head once, making Aang beam up at her with a wide grin. He pulled her into a quick embrace for a few seconds, until Katara's voice broke their comfort vest up too early.
"(Y/N), you're not alone." Katara was suddenly rushing up to them holding onto the book she had, as she had flipped through it and spotted something usual inside, "According to this, all the previous Avatars are incarnations of your past lives. You are literally not alone. The other Avatars are inside you." She points to the girls chest where her heart was, a bright smile across her face, "You want someone to teach you, you just need to figure out how to connect to them. The answers aren't inside here, they're inside you."
Her brows were furrowed in thought thinking about the girls words, eyes flickering around the room for a second as that same pull of energy was back, but stronger this time. Her gaze widened remembering Kyoshi's statue outside, and knew what she had to do, "Come on. I have an idea."
She didn't give any other explanation as she was moving quickly towards the door, making the other two look confused before chasing on after her once they grabbed their stuff. She pushed the door open making it creak as she went out first, and left the others to close it behind them, as they all walked out to in front of the statue.
The wind howled around the place now and blow through (Y/N)'s locks as she walked up to the rock in front of the Kyoshi's statue, and slid herself up onto it. She turned around briefly to Aang and Katara, sending them a confident smile and a nod, before looking back around to focus.
A steady exhale parted from her lips as she brings her knuckles together, and gently pressed them in the middle of her chest, so she was in a mediation position. Her legs also crossed over on the rock, and her eyes fluttered shut just as she heard the voice of Gyasto echo in her mind, followed by a lot more words of wisdom.
"The world needs the Avatar. The world needs you, (Y/N)."
" But imagine what'll happen.."
"I'm scared of my power."
"They're all gone. My home-"
"When the world needed the Avatar the most, she vanished. She ran-"
All the voices started overlapping each other through her ears and mind, making it harder for her to focus and concentrate on one thing. Her face scrunched up a bit, having a feeling this is the best for her to hear as it was a reminder of what had happened.
"I don't want this power."
"Which is why you will make a great Avatar."
When the last words flowed through her mind, everything suddenly became quiet for her, as her head tilted downwards and a calm expression washed over her scrunched up face. She zooned in on the energy around the statue, and tried to contact the Avatar who was there before her.
Avatar Kyoshi, help me.... she pleaded inside her head hoping the older one heard her, and she sure did. The eyes of the statue began to glow down on (Y/N)'s figure sat on the rock, causing Aang and Katara to block their gazes from the blinding light, just as they spotted all of the girls marking's illuminating the same glow also.
