NEWS SPREAD FAST THROUGH WATERTRIBE OF THE TWO NEW ARRIVALS, WHO WERE BROUGHT BACK TO ONE OF THE HUTS, AND PLACED ONTO A BED COVERED IN BLANETS WHILE THEY WAITED FOR THEM TO WAKE UP.

A few of the young teenagers gathered around the unconscious airbenders inside the hut, staring down at them with curious and judgemental gazes.

They looked at their different clothing to what they were, and shared a look what the few others that now entered, including the siblings who found them.

"They look dead." One of the young warroirs commented, raising his gloved hand up to nudge the side of (Y/N)'s head, seeing the tattoos on it, "What's that mark on her head? The other one has it too."

Sokka shot the boy he was training to fight a warning scowl, and slapped his hand away from nudging and touching her body anymore, as he scolded, "Knock that off! Doing that won't help anyone."

His grandmother came through the huts entery hearing about what had happened from Katara, and gently pushed the childern to the side, "Let me take a look." Her voice was motherly, and mature which matched her look.

She pulled down the materiel covering both of the airbenders, dark eyes flickering up to her grandson lingering right beside (Y/N), and held back a knowing smile from watching him. Her attention drifts down to the duo, and gasped, "It can't be."

Her tone held surprise lifting up the arm of Aang, and brushed up the sleeve of (Y/N)'s, revealing the matching tattoos painting their skin. This spiked Katara's interest, who stepped forward from her spot behind them, "What is it, Gran Gran?"

Their grandmother lifted her head back up to glance around at everyone inside the hut, and an amazed smile graced her mouth, "They are airbenders. Both of them are."

"It's impossible. Airbenders don't exist anymore." Sokka now spoke up incredulously, a frown creasing his forehead staring at the peaceful resting face of (Y/N), and felt his stomach twist around for some reason. There was no way she was one. Let alone them both.

Katara placed a hand on her brothers shoulder, which gained his attention almost immediately, "Well, we won't get any answers until they wake up." She states firmly and nodded her head towards the exit of the hut, "We need to let them rest. Come on."

Everyone started to pile out of the hut to leave the two to rest, and gain their energy back from being stuck in that iceberg for years.

Sokka lingers behind the group this time with Katara beside him, his brows furrowing staring at (Y/N)'s figure on the bed, before he shakes his head and meets his sisters worried eyes.

He doesn't say anything other then a sigh that left his parted lips, and followed the group out of the hut, Katara trailing right behind, but not without a last glance at the unconscious airbenders that they found.

As soon as they did leave the hut however, movement soon came from where (Y/N) was once peacefully laying. Her head moves from side to side, eyes moving fast under her closed lids, as she starts to breath shakily.

Flashes of what happened to night of the storm start to appear in her mind, taking that form of a new nightmare for her. She remembers the fear she felt for Aang, and Appa, and how they tried to fly through the rough weather.

It was all a bit blurry for her at how they survived, but all she knew was that terror she felt in that moment she lost her grip on her two boys. That was something she never wanted to go through again, nor put the other two through it.

Her (E/C) eyes flew open with a strangled gasp, them glowing for a few seconds which disappeared as soon as it happened. It felt as though she was emerging from a deep, murky abyss.

The world around her was hazy, blurred by the remnants of unconsciousness that clung to her mind like cobwebs. With a groan, she attempted to push herself up, only to be met with weakness that dragged her back down to the cold, hard surface beneath her.

Frantically, she blinked her eyes open, trying to clear away the fog that obscured her vision. Panic surged through her veins as she realized she had no recollection of how she ended up here, or if Aang, her younger brother, was alive. Her heart pounded in her chest like a war drum as she struggled to focus, her gaze darting around the dimly lit hut they were in.

The air was chilly, chilling her to the bone despite the numerous woolen blankets draped over her. But the cold was nothing compared to the icy grip of fear that clenched her heart as she searched for any sign of Aang.

Relief flooded through her like a tidal wave when she finally spotted his figure, lying still beside her, and a relived sob threatened to escape her. With trembling hands, (Y/N) pushed the blankets off of her, her movements sluggish and uncoordinated.

Every fiber of her being screamed in protest, but she ignored the lightheadedness that threatened to overwhelm her. Crawling towards Aang, she reached out with shaking fingers to gently shake him awake, whispering his name like a desperate prayer, "Aang! Aang, wake up."

Aang stirred, his eyelashes fluttering against his cheeks as he groaned softly, "(Y/N)....?" His voice was hoarse, barely more than a whisper as he spoke her name, his words carrying a weight of uncertainty and relief.

Tears pricked at the corners of her eyes as she nodded vigorously, a wide smile breaking across her face as she reassured him that they were both okay, "Yes it's me, bud. We're okay, you're alright."

Without wasting another moment, they threw themselves into each other's arms, their embrace fierce and unyielding. Aang buried his face into (Y/N)'s neck, his breath warm against her skin as she rested her chin on his bald head, and they held onto each other tightly.

She pressed a palm into his back rubbing up and down gently to reassure him some more, squeezing him against her chest as she felt him gripping onto her clothing in his tattooed fists. The two only broke apart when they heard chatter outside, and shared a curious look between one another.

Helping off Aang from the bed of sorts they were once resting on, she made sure his fly suit was tied properly around his shoulders, before grabbing him by the shoulders to lead him outside off the hut. She pushed the flaps aside for them to slip through, and was instantly met with more of a chill.

"If I knew we are going to get stuck in the ice pole, I would of brought warmer clothing." She mumbled out loud to herself shivering, causing Aang to snort amused watching her frantically rub up and down along her clothed arms.

Snowflakes were floating around in the air from the sky, and a few landed in the girls hair, making her brush a couple away but soon gave up when they started walking more into the snow.

The best friends gazed around in awe at the new environment they were in, seeing the many huts around them that showed them they were in a village, a watertribe village. A few children rush past them laughing loudly playing a game, and it caused the airbenders to share a wide eyed look.

"Come on!" Aang beams like the kid he was, grabbing onto (Y/N)'s wrist in his smaller hand was he tugs her along. She groaned to herself at getting forcefully moved, but let herself be pulled along through the snow following where the children ran off to.

They come to a sudden stop a few feet away from the group playing, and a small fond smile makes it way across the girls face watching them throw snowballs at each other happily, like there was no other problem in the world to deal with.

That was until a snowball landed right in the center of her face. She yelped in shock at the sudden hit, hearing the children giggling as they run past, and she deadpanned when the snowball dripped back onto the ground. Aang stifled a laugh into his palm at her reaction, which caused her to shot him a sharp look to be quiet.

"Hey, get away from them!" A familiar voice to the villages children exclaims loudly, Sokka appearing from around a corner carrying a spear as he runs up to them, "What are you thinking? Have you forgotten your training? What'd I say about keeping your guard up? They could be the enemy."

Her (E/C) eyes went double their sizes when she turned around, and saw the face that belonged to the smooth voice. This was the first time actually seeing a guy her age that was attractive, because most back in the air temples weren't exactly... her type. Or she just didn't attract the right ones.

"The enemy? We're not the enemy." Aang was the one to defend them both, raising his brow at his quiet best friend gawking at Sokka pointing a spear at them.

A dumbfounded expression washes over Sokka's face hearing his response, scanning him from head to toe and then moved to (Y/N)'s figure, taking extra time to look at her, "Then who are you?"

Aang nudged the girls arm a bit to get her attention, and she blinked rapidly knocking out of her gawking at the new face, realising Sokka was talking to her now, "Oh! W-well-" She spluttered out nervously, pointing to herself and then the one next to her, "I'm (Y/N), and that's Aang. And, uh, how'd we get here?"

"You tell me." Sokka retorted in a snappy tone, moving the spear a bit forward still on guard now that the two were awake, and narrowed his eyes on the girls fluttered state.

She rubbed her temples to try and remember, but grimaced when she couldn't recall at all, as the memories were all cloudy for most of it. Maybe if she tried hard enough she could remember, but right now probably wasn't the best time to mediate.

"Wait- Where's Appa?" At Aang's sudden question, and him tugging on her arm, she also realised that their fur friend was missing which set them both into a frantic frenzy, yelling his name and looking around, "Appa! Appaaa!"

Sokka stood there completely lost not understanding what was happening, and pulled down his spear sensing they weren't a threat to his tribe, well at least not yet that is.

Katara walked around the hut that was placed near them hearing the yelling, followed by their grandmother behind her, "Sokka!" She called out walking up to her brother, who was gaping at something in the air, "Have you seen them?"

"Yeah. That's not strange at all." Sokka mumbled in a sarcastic tone not answering her, as his eyes were focused on the figure of (Y/N) up in the sky above them with Aang, jaw dropping a bit.

She was using her bending to move around in the air, twirling around as she used the air to held her up right beside Aang, who pushed her up more to see better, "Appa!" She shouted, cupping her hands over her mouth to project it louder.

"They are airbenders." Katara gasped out in amazement, watching the best friends help each other float around in twirls of air to find their bison.

Aang grabbed the string around his neck, which carried the bison whistle to call theirs, and blow into it. It created a high-pitched noise, as they two went up higher into the air in effect.

She grabbed onto his arm when the whistle stopped blowing, using her other palm to project air down below them, as it made the duo twirl downwards towards the snow. They landed together with a gust of air pushing out from their shoes, and jogged back up to the three in front of the children.

"This is probably a long shot, but have you seen Appa?" She questioned panting a bit out of breath, quicky glancing between Katara, the elder woman and lastly Sokka, "Our sky bison. Six legs, horns, brown arrows...?"

"Right," Sokka scoffed in a mocking way, jabbing his spear in the direction of Katara who blinked owlishly in confusion, "And this is Katara, my flying sister."

(Y/N)'s eye twitched a bit at his clear teasing, and shakes her head groaning annoyed, "Sky bison. Sky bison!" She repeated in a drawl, sharing a look with Aang who was nervously playing with the whistle to call their furred friend.

"Repeating it does't help." He grumbled rolling his eyes, and leant a bit down to her height which was only a few inches shorter then how tall he was. Then again, it could be because of the hill they were on, and he would choose to believe that rather than think a girl was just as tall as him.

She scrunched her nose up at him growing more annoyed by the second, but sighed heavily when Aang squeezed her hand softly to calm her down. Their hope wasn't gone, but only lifted up when they heard the familiar sound of Appa's bellow from a distance.

The gigantic fluffy beast flew through the air, and landed onto the snow with a grunt, his white fur and black nose covered in it also. The best friend's faces break out into wide grins seeing their bison, and race towards him happily, "Appa!"

When they got closer Appa shook his body a bit to get rid of the snow, as he sweeps up the girl with his tongue, making her laugh loudly at the hugging gesture he did. Once he put her down, she hugged his enormous black nose, and nuzzled into it, while Aang hugged his leg even tighter.

"I'm so glad you're okay, bud." She mumbled gently into his fur, pulling back to press the tip of her forehead onto his larger one, hands around his neck and Appa grumbled softly, nudging her back with his cold nose.

Aang let Appa's leg go to turn around a bit to the siblings, grinning a bit at their shocked faces, doing more so when he caught Sokka's eyes drifting to his best friend hugging Appa still, "Sky bison."

He points to the furred beast mockingly, and Sokka discretely shuffled backed behind Katara scared.

MOST OF THE WATERTRIBE ALL WERE NOW GATHERED INSIDE THE MAIN HUT, WHICH WAS USED FOR IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS AND  PLANS TO DO WITH THEIR SURIVAL. The airbender best friends sat beside each other, circled by the people all dressed in blue while the few main ones stood in front of them, on the other side of the fire pit inside.

"You say you two went down in the storm?" Sokka recalled from everything the duo told everyone, a confused frown over his brows as he glanced between them, landing on (Y/N) last which lingered once more.

She nodded her head, fiddling with the bracelet that was still tied around her wrist, "It came upon us suddenly." She started to explain sighing, feeling warmer from the burning fire inside, "The weather went crazy just as we left home. The Southern Air Temple."

At her speech Kanna frowned a bit, getting the feeling that the best friends had no idea what had happened all those years ago. Aang goes to finish off from (Y/N)'s words, holding onto her left hand in his tightly, "Well, not all the Air Nomads, but most of them had just arrived for the Great Comet Festival."

"The Great Comet Festival." Kanna murmured to herself, repeating what he said. She dropped the material in her hand to the floor, and stood up from the stool alerting her grandchildren, as she walked over to an old tapestry on the wall hanging down proudly, "Water, earth, fire, air."

She points to each one shown in symbols on the rugged material, "Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But when the world needed him most, he vanished."

(Y/N) shuffled a bit uncomformably in her spot hearing that story, feeling her hand getting squeezed by Aang for silent reassurance as she glanced down at the snow covered floor, guilt already eating away at her heart.

"And so the Fire Nation marched and laid waste, plunging us into a time of darkness." Kanna finished off the well known story around the world, and turns back to her tribe to motion to them all, "Everyone in the village knows this story, but you two don't, do you?"

The airbender best friends furrow their brows in confusion, and share a small look between each other, before turning their heads back towards Kanna, letting her finish speaking, holds on their hands getting stronger

"Just as you don't know that airbenders haven't been seen in generations and that the Southern Air Tempe was the first to fall,"

Her voice held dread in it, and walked back over to her grandchildren, whose eyes were on the shocked duo hearing the news, "because you've bee trapped in that ice this whole time. The last time that the Great Comet was seen in the sky was 100 years ago."

(Y/N) felt like she couldn't breathe. Her hands were shaking as she shoot up out of the stool she was on, bottom lip trembling even more as her throat tightens up.

Without looking at anyone else, she runs straight for the door hearing Aang call out to her, and race on after her, leaving the others alone.

Sokka purse his lips not liking how distressed she looked. It bothered him how her being upset left a clenching feeing in his heart. His dark eyes followed her figure until she was out of sight, Aang hot on her trail and sighed heavily hearing his grandmothers voice again.

"She may seem just like a girl, and he may seem just like a boy, but they're much more. Those two are the last airbenders."
