maeve's abilities are a mix between those of a demon and those of an angel.

her species is created by lucifer himself when the first humans were created.
a devilsdaughter is a creature that is cursed and is forced to live for five centuries until the curse gets put on the next one of their species, which makes Maeve the only one of her kind. The curse of the devilsdaughter can only be triggered by death. So she lives a human life until she gets killed or dies of natural causes, which triggers the creature inside of her. From that moment on, she will be forced to feed on human blood and have the powers that are described above. Maeve sees her being as a curse rather than a gift, and she keeps the killing to a minimum. If she feeds too much, she will lose all control over her morals and go on a ripping spree, killing everyone that comes in her way. This happened twice, once when Sam got trapped in the cage and once when Bobby got killed.

lucifer ➛ the two of them have not such a good relationship. He constantly haunts her in her dreams, and tries to manipulate her into doing his bidding. Lucifer tortured and scarred maeve both mentally and physically.
bobby singer ➛ bobby is the man that raised her, and he will always look at him as her dad, even though they are not blood related.
castiel ➛ he raised maeve and took care of her in a way that she cannot describe to anyone. They would both give their lives for each other, and castiel was the man to bring her to bobby the day she was born into this world.

romantic interests
sam winchester ➛ sam and maeve have known each other forever: they grew up together. Sam never saw maeve as anything other than a friend though, in the first 25 years of his life. This did not help with her insecurities.
meg masters ➛ in her time before earth and after her first death, maeve and meg were very close, and they hooked up a couple of times. Meg would never hurt Maeve, nor the other way around. The two care deeply for each other, even if their relationship isn't too serious.

general backstory

before being planted inside a body and left on the porch of Bobby Singer's house, Maeve spent an eternity in hell. In that timespan, she was raised between demons and the devil himself, even though he couldn't reach her from inside his cage. As an archangel and the angel that was closest to Lucifer, Gabriel had been allowed to travel in and out of hell to sometimes take Maeve to heaven. There, she learned an entirely different way of living, where castiel became like a father to her. This was also the place where Balthazar, who didn't trust Maeve, tortured and sexually assaulted the girl multiple times.

When she was born, Castiel wiped all of her memories from before earth, and made sure that the next time their paths crossed, the spell would be broken and she would remember everything. Bobby Singer wasn't to pleased with finding a baby on his doorstep, but he took her in and cared for her after his wife passed away. His bestie Rufus, whose wife had given birth to a daughter eight years earlier, decided that it would be fun to raise both kids together. And after Mary Winchester had been killed, Dean and Sam joined the youth cult as well. The four kids were raised competitive, but Sam and Dean were gone from time to time as John would take them with him on hunts. So most times, it was just Addison and Maeve. The two weren't friends, they were rivals, enemies even. Maeve despised the Turner girl, since she was just a bit faster and better than Maeve at almost everything. So Mae found a new friend. She met Clarisse on her second real hunt, and the two of them held contact ever since. When Sam went to college, Dean reached out to Maeve, asking if she wanted to hunt with him. And she did. The two of them killed multiple monsters before Izzy decided to come with them from time to time. The three of them had a lot of fun together, and when Sam came back, they tried to keep the vibe up. But Clarisses sister disappeared, and not long after that her mother killed herself with an overdose. Without telling anyone, Clara took all the blame onto herself. She told herself that if she had been there, they wouldn't have died. This blame became so heavy on her shoulders that she committed suicide at the age of 26. Maeve struggled a lot with this, but Sam and Dean helped her get things straight. And then Castiel arrived.

Getting all her memories back wasn't a positive experience for Maeve. Not only did she unlock very traumatic memories, she also saw bits and pieces of her future. To be turned into this magnificent creature her birth father had once described, she would have to be killed. And she got killed. After death, Maeve travelled back to Hell, where Lucifer had sent Crowley, Lilith, Ruby and Meg to torture her. Even though Meg insisted on leaving the girl be, Maeve got tortured day after day after day, until she gave in. She fed on a human for the first time, and transformed into this monster, only hungry for more blood. Castiel raised her from perdition, and immediately too her to Heaven, in the hopes that God would cure the girl. But God was nowhere to be found. So he brought Maeve home to her family, where she resisted the urge of killing all of them, only to kill multiple innocent men later that evening. When Bobby found out, he put her in the panic room, locking her up until the urge to feed was gone. And it left, for a while. And then she passed out. It took Maeve a year or two to control her hunger, but Sam and Dean helped her with it. They distracted her wherever they could, taking her on hunts. During these hunts Maeve discovered her new abilities, and put them to use.
