"El, you can't fight this thing alone." Sev whispered to the girl she had known as nothing less than her sister, the two of them crouched behind a desk, wishing they had more time.

"Stay here." And with that, El slowly turned around, walking towards the monster that was close to killing them all.

"No!" Sev pulled her back, but before she could do anything else, El stuck her hand out, throwing Sev back, then turned around doing the same to the demogorgon, slowly walking towards it. Sev watched as El threw Mike back, who also tried to stop her.

Sev threw her hand towards the monster, emitting small flames from her hand, but it wasn't enough. Sev had grown weaker, her powers had been out of control for the last week, and now that she really needs them, they wouldn't do enough. There was nothing Sev could do but watch, she watched as El let out an ear piercing scream, the demogorgon crumbling away to nothingness, as well as Eleven.

She squeezed her eyes shut, not able to watch the heartbreaking scene any longer. When she opened her eyes, the demogorgon was gone and so was El.

"El?!" She screamed, crawling off the ground and looking around desperately, her lungs already aching from the pressure.

"El? El?" Mike called.

"Eleven!" Lucas joined.

"Eleven!" Now they were all yelling, desperate to find the girl they all cared so much about. "El, where are you? Eleven!"

Sev ran out of the classroom, running up and down the halls, desperate to find where El had gone, but she knew the answer, she just didn't want to.

"El please! Please come back!" Sev yelled, she yelled until she felt like her lungs were going to give out, but it did nothing. El was nowhere, Sev had lost her. She dropped to her knees, feeling the pain of the situation fully take over her body. Her cries of inner pain rang throughout the school. She had just lost the only person that had ever been there for her. The person who protected her, and told her not to worry about the silly date on her wrist. The person who promised she wouldn't let her die on that day, was now gone, and Sev didn't know want to.

A pair of arms wrapped around Sev's crying frame, and the girl immediately fell back into their arms, not caring who it was.

"It's okay, Sev. Cry as much as you want." Nancy Wheeler spoke in her ear, trying to soothe the girl. She cradled Sev's head, letting the girl cry as much and as loud as she wanted, thankful that her cries took the attention off her own. The teen could see the three boys watching the two at the end of the hallway, wondering how Nancy was comforting her so well when she only met her a few hours ago. But Nancy knew what the girl was feeling, for her best friend had just died too.

The boys all made their way outside to see their parents, and the two girls followed soon after. Nancy refused to leave the girl's side, even when she needed to talk to her mother. So Sev stood silently beside her, all the while her hand was in Nancy's, letting her know she wasn't alone.

She had zoned out for the whole conversation, only zoning back in when the older woman crouched in front of her.

"I'm so sorry sweetie," she mumbled, wrapping her arms around the girl's shoulders. Sev didn't know what Nancy had told her, but she could guess it was a good sob story.

The Wheeler's took her in after that, and Nancy became her big sister, Mike her barely-older brother, and Holly her younger sister. Karen treated her like a member of the family, while Ted couldn't care less about the situation. She was enrolled in Hawkins middle school after being homeschooled for a year by Karen to improve her grammar. The girl was now quite good at forming full sentences, and had never been more proud of herself, and she would never forget why she was able to be proud of herself and be happy now, it was all thanks to Eleven.

Eleven had always been her reason to smile, Sev just wished she was here to see it.

It had been a year since that tragic day in the middle school. Sev had gotten her powers back under control and hadn't experienced any problems with them. She did have trouble sleeping however. Nightmares would fill her sleep, causing her to wake up in a scream. Sweat would coat her body, and tears would run down her face as she tried to control her breathing. Nancy had been the one to help her through it. Any night when she heard her scream she would get out of bed, and walk into Sev's room, laying down with her so she could calm down.

They weren't sure where Sev was going to sleep when she first moved in, but Mike offered to turn the basement into his room since he's always down there anyways, and Sev took his room. It took some getting used to at first, but it eventually became normal for them, and now they found themselves forgetting that Sev hadn't always been here.

They never failed to make sure she knew she was a part of the family, and no matter how hard they all tried, Nancy did the best. She made her feel the most welcome, and had truly become her sister. She had even told the younger girl about her crush on Jonathan, to which she promised not to tell anyone about. Of course, before Nancy told her that she had to explain what a crush was. Sev was then questioned if any boys caught her attention in that way, to which she honestly replied no to.

Now she was getting ready to go to the arcade with her brother and their friends, Nancy had given the girl 2 dollars to spend after Sev quite literally begged her.

Sev had been waiting outside for Mike, while he got whatever else he needed before they left. He came running out the house, yelling for Sev to go, while Nancy was close behind him. Sev kicked off on her bike, not wanting to get involved with their childish squabbles as Mike pedaled after her, and Nancy stopped chasing him.

"What did you do?!" She yelled.

"I didn't have money for the arcade so I stole some of Nancy's."

"Are you kidding me?"

"What? I'll pay her back."

"No you won't."

"No I won't." He admits, letting out a dry chuckle as Sev rolls her eyes at him.

They rode their bikes all the way to the arcade, where Lucas and Dustin were waiting for them. They both greeted Sev with a hug, as she smiled at the affection.

Joyce Byers pulled into the parking lot, with Will in the passenger's seat of the car. They talked for a few minutes until he rushed out of the car and over to his friends. They all greeted him before they walked into the arcade, ready to spend the night playing a bunch of games.

"To slay the dragon, use the magic sword!"

Dustin was currently playing, attempting to beat Lucas's top score of the nearly impossible game. Sev had attempted multiple times and she never got anywhere near as far as Dustin was right now.

"Oh Jesus, I'm in uncharted territory guys."

"Everything in this game is uncharted territory." Sev mumbled.

"Down! Down!" The party instructed him.

"I'm going! I'm going! I'm going!" He yelled back.

The party continued to yell instructions at Dustin as he let out a string 'shut up's. The yelling distracting him. His character in the game grabs the sword, but before he could use it, he was torched by the dragon, ending his life, and Dustin's chance of beating Lucas.

"No! No! No! I hate this overpriced bullshit!" He yelled, hitting the machine in frustration. "Son of a bitch piece of shit!"

"You're just not nimble enough. You'll get there one day, but until then, princess Daphne is still mine." Lucas teases.

"You know, whatever. I'm still top on centipede and dig dug."

"You sure about that?" One of the workers, Keith, asked.

"Sure about what?" Dustin asked fretfully. Keith simply stuffed a Cheeto into his mouth, and the party immediately ran to the dig dug machine, looking at the scoreboard, where a new name had taken the top spot.

"No!"

"751,300 points?!"

"It's impossible.." Mike mumbles.

"I hope it's a girl." Sev states.

"There's no way a girl could do that." Mike replies, earning a glare from Sev.

"Who's Madmax?" Dustin demands, turning his attention to Keith.

"Better than you." He replies, making Dustin flip him.

"Is it you?" Will asked.

"You know I despise dig dug."

"Then who is it?" Lucas asks.

"Yeah, spill it Keith!"

"Is it a girl?"

"If you want information I need something in return." He counters, averting his gaze to Mike and Sev.

"Nope." Sev immediately turns down.

"No, no way! You're not getting a date with her!"

"Mike, just get him the date."

"No Lucas! That's practically sex trafficking. We'd be selling her just for stupid answers about someone who happens to be better at a video game, just because Dustin can't except that someone's better him!" Sev argues, making Dustin give her a slightly offended look.

"Exactly!" Mike agrees. "We're not prostituting our sister!"

"But it's for a good cause!"

"Say that again and I'll burn you to a crisp!" Sev threatens, holding her hands out threateningly. Lucas instantly cowers back, as Dustin steps towards Keith.

"No, don't get him the date! You know why, he's gonna spread his nasty ass to your whole family!"

"Acne isn't a rash, and it isn't contagious, you prepubescent wastoid!"

"Oh, I'm a wastoid? She wouldn't go on a date with you anyways! You make like what, 2.50 an hour?"

"Nice perm."

"You're gonna make fun of a minor's hair? You're stooping that low?" Sev joins in.

As they continued to argue back and forth, none of them noticed Will Byers cautiously walking out of the arcade, seemingly in a trance, except for Mike. None of them knew that what he saw in the sky, was only the start of everyone they would be facing in the next week.

I hope everyone got just how sad the beginning one was. Because just imagine her on the floor, quite literally yelling out for El, the only person she ever had growing up, while Nancy wraps her arms around, trying to provide comfort as she cries tears of her own for Barb, and the three boys just watching from the end of the hallway, realizing just how important El was to Sev.

Anyways, so far I like this better how it originally was, and I've obviously changed a lot about it.
