"Or perhaps in Slytherin. You'll make your real friends. Those cunning folk use any means to achieve their ends." โ€” The Sorting Hat to Harry Potter

VERSAILlES's 1st POV:

Thankfully the feast quickly came to a close and Headmaster Dumbledore shooed us off and we all filed out of the dining hall to our new homes. Professor Snape, the current Head of Slytherin was leading the charge of the twenty-odd first years down towards the dungeons where our new common room resided.

As we ventured deeper into the castle, it grew quieter and colder with the pathway only being lit by burning torches.

We stopped at a large imposing door where two knights in shining armour stood on either side. A slithering sound could be heard as two stone snakeheads stood atop the door entwined with each other, their emerald green stones seemed to judge us as we watched Snape say the password and the door opened slowly on its own.

The first thing anyone noticed was green. The room was basked in a green light as the large glass windows reflected the dangerous murky waters of the Black Lake. Green silk curtains trapezed over the floor-to-ceiling windows.

We walked down the entrance marble staircase and I ran my hand over the snake railing, feeling every individual carved scale.

The common room itself was large and open with grey stone walls and a glass mosaic ceiling window. A fire crackled under an elaborately carved mantelpiece and several expensive sofas and tables were lining the carved marble stone floor.

The floor itself was a clean marble with etchings of elaborate snakes and swirls. The walls were decorated with green tapestries of Medieval Slytherins donned in chainmail and their swords raised and snakes fighting and twirling around each other.

It was a grand atmosphere, but the cold lingered like Death's kiss that seemed seeped into your bones even with the thick cloaks we had on.

"It hasn't changed," Regulus mused by her side as he looked around the green room with a look of nostalgia that seemed forever etched in his sad face. I took his hand in mine as Snape's low and bored voice echoed throughout the grand yet empty room since the other students were still lingering out to give us first years a semblance of peace on the first night.

"This is the common room, obviously," he drawled and inspected the bright eyes of eleven years old and continued, "You will keep the area clean, and learn to respect it and your fellow peers. It is not a place for meaningless gossip so do not treat it as such. You are of the Slytherin house which unlike the other houses is a great honor so do not do anything foolish like daring to tarnish its great name. Now girls to the right and boys to the left and don't even try to sneak into another's room."

He gave them one last look of pure disapproval and left, his long black cape swishing behind him.

"Well isn't he entertaining," Mortem stated with mirth dancing in his cold grey ones.

"I would be the exact same if I had to personally deal with incessant teens on a daily basis. Children can be heathens." I told him with a smirk and he rolled his eyes with a laugh and teased, "You are the godless heathen."

It was my turn to roll my eyes and I leaned closer as I whispered, "Me godless? How can I be when I have one dripping off my every word and plead."

It didn't escape my notice that he leaned into me, hanging off every word and it only served to prove my words.

"I live to serve, Mistress. I am but your willing servant and vessel." He stated, his already deep voice dropping an octave lower as his whisper twirled against the shell of my ear.

"Behave," Regulus drawled from our side and sent us a disapproving look like a mother would with a naughty child.

Thanatos stepped back at his word, hearing the slight warning in it and he pulled the curly-haired boy into him and teased, "Don't be jealous. I am yours too, my little king."

Regulus paused at his words, smiling at the nickname, it was the Latin meaning of his name. I also didn't need to poke at his mind shields to know the exact thoughts or rather images running through his head.

"Now you are the one that needs to behave," I teased with a smirk and walked to the right in search of my new dorm. I didn't like the idea of sharing at all, especially since I had been living in a large mansion for the past eleven years but I could deal with it for a few months.

I walked past the multitude of wooden doors with black metal frames and looked for the one that stated my name on the silver plaque. I was tired and I didn't get any sleep on the train so I wanted to be engulfed by silk sooner rather than later.

After minutes of walking along the barely lit corridor, I found it and I pushed it open and was met w with a large room that held four large poster beds with green and silver bedding. The floor was yet again a cold grey marble tile and the walls were lined with dark wooden wardrobes and a bookshelf.

A small wooden table sat directly in the middle of the room with green-lined chairs around it and a set of wizard chess was set up to be played. A roaring fireplace was under a large tapestry of a snake in astrology form with a lounge chair near it and two more chairs. It would do nicely.

My roommates were already there, sitting on their beds talking to each other softly as they unpacked their things. They stopped when they heard the door swing open and smiled nervously at me.

Thankfully my new roommates weren't complete strangers since I had met them briefly at the feast, Daphne Greengrass and Pansy Parkinson and I assumed we would only be the three in here. I nodded to them in greeting, it was getting too late to start conservation and I was too tired to care how rude it came across.

They didn't seem bothered by my silence and I went to unpack my clothing, placing them in my allocated cupboard. I placed my books for tomorrow on the small wooden bedside table where a lit candle sat.

I left my more precious valuables inside, under lock and key, I did not trust anyone to not try and rummage through them. I slid them under my bed grabbed my pyjamas and headed to the only door on the right where a large marble bathroom was, there were eight different stalls - toilets and showers. It reminded me of public restrooms in that aspect. I let breathe of relief, I did not want to share a single shower or toilet with anyone

Along-needed needed hot shower I got dressed and went to bed, pulling the green curtains closed and with a good night to the three of them I placed a silencing ward and a protective charm on them. I was in the snake den after all, where masks come plentiful and smiles hid all sorts of thoughts and agendas. I was out like a light as soon as my head hit the soft pillow.

REGULUS's 1st POV:

I didn't know how to feel being back here, memories, good and bad rushed over me more instantly than the magic did. It was certainly hard being back without everyone, the Marauders were not around to make Slytherin's life hard but there weren't any pranks that brought a smile to my face. Mainly my brother wasn't there, he wasn't there for me to glare out, to take my frustrations out on him nor was his pet wolf that tried to broker peace between us.

"What's wrong little star?" Thanatos or now Theta asked from his poster bed and he moved closer to me. I let out a shivered slightly at the nickname but I just shrugged and then fell back into my bed, even though it felt familiar yet so different.

On the outside nothing had changed in Hogworts, but on the inside was forever changed, scarred by war and death and the devil's touch of Tom Riddle, the dark lord. That was the hardest thing to wrap my hand around, even being brought back to life did not top the fact the dark lord was good and not the evil mastermind I had given everything up to weaken. He was just another pawn, like I was for a time.

"My whole being was for not," I said, my voice but a mere whisper but he heard and I started to look up at him and I hid the grimace, he was so young now, long gone was the handsome maturity he held or the faint smell of smoke that helped me drift off to sleep. "It's all so different and I don't like it," I admitted with another sigh and I was thankful Draco, my cousin was too busy bragging to our other roommate, Blaise Zabinni to butt in like always.

Theta's clear blue eyes, which still held that sense of a million lifetimes and looming death softened at my words and I wanted to cringe away from his head on my cheek. I hated being so vulnerable but around him and Versailles, it seemed all I was. Mother would throw a fit if she saw me, she would shriek about how unfitting I was as an heir to the Black name but my fear of her had died alongside me.

He brushed a curl away from my forehead and I let a breathless sigh at his touch, the gentleness was unfamiliar but not unwelcome. I don't know why I felt the things around him, I had never held attraction to any other boys but he was a man and so different to the others. I had experimented with Barty Jr, but I felt nothing besides boredom and I most certainly did not feel that around him or Versailles.

They brought so many things I had buried deep inside me and I knew it was the same with them. Versailles was so guarded and cold around everyone else but I could see it was all a front from the adornment of my brother. He did have a habit of leaving his family behind, didn't he?

"Nothing you did was for not. Everything changes but we still go on with life. When a plant dies all it needs is some love and light and it blooms once again, beautiful then ever. You'll find yourslef agian little star, Val and I will help you." He says softly, god his voice did things to me, they were so deep and every word was meaningful that it made you listen, it commanded you body and soul to his every whim.

I closed my eyes, leaning into his touch but I still listened to every word that left his mouth, as I always would. "I know," I told him earnestly, I believed him and I had faith I would get through this like I had with everything.

His soft hand cradled my face and I gripped his sleeve gently, not wanting him to never stop with his soft touches. He teased Val and me a lot but never took it too far, knowing we both weren't ready for anything and with our young bodies. I loved how soft and considerate he was, you would never think he was the God Death.

Thantoas leaned down by my side and pulled me closer to him and I couldn't help but nuzzle into his warm chest. His arm never strayed from the curve of my hip and I was thankful for his loving touch, it was a stark contrast to the pain-riddled touch of my mother.

The green curtains of my bed pulled to a close with a single thought from him, they encased us in darkness. He pulled the blanket over us gently and he kissed my forehead I leaned into it and he whispered, "Sleep my love."

My lips quirked up at the pure adoration in his voice that was usually reserved for Versailles and before I could say anything back sleep took over.

OMG let's not talk about how long it took me to update this...I didn't mean to leave you all hanging, I don't why it took me so long to do this but I finally did.

I took some creative liberty on the common room and took some inspiration from the Hogwarts Legacy game because the common room looks so good in it.
