Chapter one...
YEAR 10191
CALADAN - Homeworld of house Atreides
A young boy could be seen laying on a bed shirtless, half awake and asleep as he dreamed. Dreaming about a certain (H/C) haired girl. His beautiful best friend, his rock (Y/N).
Though there was someone else with her, another girl that wore the same outfit as (Y/N). The boy didn't know who this was, he could only see the side of her face.
The boy's hazel eyes opened, groaning from this he sat up as the light shined against his slightly toned chest.
~
The same young boy was now at a dining table, in deep thought while he ate the food.
"It's good you're up early. I just wished (Y/N) could be as well," An older woman spoke from end of the table sighing, "Father wants you both in full dress before the Emperor's herald arrives."
The brunette's head raised up at this, "Full dress? Military?"
"Ceremonial." Jessica, the woman's name and also his mother replied.
"Why do we have to go through all of this when it's already been decided?" The young boy known as Paul questioned.
"Ceremony." Lady Jessica said again, pouring her son water and one for (Y/N) since she felt her coming.
Paul hummed, and nodded his head, "Thank you."
The doors to the room suddenly opened, making the two at the dining table turn to it. Paul's lips lifted up into a smile at who was standing there. (Y/N).
"Ah.. so sorry I'm late." The (H/C) haired girl huffed, walking over to the spot between Paul and Jessica.
"Nice to see you here (Y/N)." Jessica smiled at her daughter like figure, knowing that this girl would be the future for Paul and House Atreides.
(Y/N) chuckled, smiling back then looked over to her best friend who was already staring at her. Just as she was about to sit she greeted Paul with a kiss on the forehead. The male smiled softly at this.
Once (Y/N) was seated, Jessica went back to conversation, "If you want it make me give it to you. Use the voice."
The (H/C) haired girl only guessed that Jessica wanted Paul to use the voice to bring him water.
"Mom, I just woke up." Paul's gruffy morning voice protested.
Jessica just stared at her son making Paul roll his eyes, turning his body in his chair to use the voice, "Give me the water."
(Y/N) snickered under her breath at this, "The glass can't hear you. Command your mom Paul."
Paul gave her a look then looked back to his mother, taking a deep breath he focused and stared intensely, "Give me the water." His voice sounded different, darker as Jessica pushed forward the water a little.
Jessica snapped out of the trance, "Almost."
"Almost?"
"Bene Gesserit skills take years to learn Paul, (Y/N)." Jessica told the pair and the younger girl nodded her head, showing she was listening.
Jessica observed her son, "You look tired. More dreams?"
(Y/N) scrunched her eyebrows in confusion, looking to her best friend worried, watching how he was in deep thought and unknowingly to her Paul's mind was full of her face and the other girls one.
Paul shook his head muttering, "No." Then went back to eating.
~
"Extreme temperatures and treacherous weather events make life outside the cities of Arrakis truly hostile." A robotic voice came out of a recording that laid on the ground.
Paul had a book in his hand about the Fremen, reading it as his back was leaning against (Y/N)'s chest and stomach. The girl's arms wrapped around him, running her fingers through his curly hair.
"With sandstorms powerful enough to cut through metal. Only the native tribes known as the Freman and one other special person, that hasn't been seen nor born for centuries known as the Earth walker have adapted well enough to survive." (Y/N)'s attention snapped up at this, stopping her finger brushing.
Paul looked up from laying on her chest, his hazel eyes showing worry, "Hey, you okay?"
She blinked, smiling down at the boy, "Yeah. Don't worry I'm okay."
Paul let one of his hands go from holding the book, grabbing one of (Y/N)'s hands and he pressed a kiss against it. Once. Twice. Many times.
The (H/C) haired girl felt flushed at this, pulling her hand away and grumbled embarrassed, "Get back to reading."
Paul smirked to himself, continuing reading knowing what effect he has over the girl.
"Preferring to inhabit the remotest regions of Arrakis the Freman share the deep desert with the giant sandworms known to the Freman as Shai-Hulud. Long exposure to spice has given the tribe their characteristic blue eyes, the eyes of Ibad. Little else is known of the Freman and very little is known about the Earth walker, expect that they have some sort of power that controls the earth and the Freeman are dangerous and unreliable. Freeman attacks make spice harvesting extremely hazardous. For the Freman, spice is the sacred hallucinogen which preserves life and brings enormous health benefits. For the imperium, the spice is used by the navigators of the Spacing Guild to find safe paths between the stars. Without spice interstellar travel is impossible, making it by far the most valuable substance in the universe." The voice concluded from the voice recording.
~
(Y/N) and Paul were now dressed nicely for the ceremony, the two of them standing close to each other and waited.
After a few more seconds a sudden oval shaped ship landed on the ground, the ramp being placed down as the important people walked out from it. All of them wearing their houses clothes, and walked respectfully.
"Smile, Gurney." The Duke spoke up jokingly to his trusted member.
"I am smiling." Was all his reply, staring ahead with no expression.
The Duke shook his head, "How much will it cost them traveling all this way for this formality?"
"Three Guild navigators and a total of 1,460,062 solaris for this round trip." Another trusted advisor answered beside The Duke.
(Y/N) watched as a member of the group that arrived from the ship bowed to The Duke, "By the grace of Shaddam IV of the House Corrino, Ascendant to the Golden Lion Throne of Padishah Emperor of the Known Universe, I stand before you as Heraid of the Change. We are witnessed by members of the Imperial Court, representatives of the Spacing Guild, and a sister of the Bene Gesserit. The Emperor has spoken: 'House Atreides shall immediately take control of Arrakis and serve as its steward' Do you accept?"
The Duke took a big step forward, nearing the stairs, "We are the House Atreides. There is no call we do not answer. There is no faith that we betray. The Emperor asks us bring peace to Arrakis. House Atreides accepts!"
"Atreides! Atreides! Atreides!" The crowd in House Atreides started chanting as The Duke made his way down the stairs to mark the signing paper.
The Duke look back towards his child and daughter like figure, seeing them both giving him a strong nod of agreement.
While he was finishing the deal, (Y/N) reached over to Paul and wrapped her pinky finger around his.
Paul wrapped his pinky around hers tighter, something that both brought them comfort in times like this. Their hands out of anyone's view. Just for the two of them to feel and see.
