Chapter eight...
A/N - Another chapter guys <33
Once the trio had gotten out of the ornithopter, they had a Fremkit on their backs and (Y/N) had surprisingly found her quarterstaff in the aircraft as well.
(Y/N) made her way up a sand dune with her weapon helping her, Paul and Jessica following behind.
Once she got to the top, she froze on the spot. Arrakis had fallen, smoke, destruction and fires everywhere. The girl only guessed that Atreides was not making it out, along with The Duke.
"Oh my god.." (Y/N) whispered to herself, looking at the chaos.
Paul walked up to her, grabbing her gentle by the shoulder to lead her away from the view.
She gave one last sad look at her only ever known home and followed.
~
The group were now in a Stilltent in the desert, while (Y/N) watched Paul open up a Fremkit next to Jessica.
He pulled out some sort of paper with a diamond on it, unwrapping it to read it, "This is Dr. Yueh's handwriting." Paul told the two, "'If anyone makes it out of Arrakeen alive there's an Atreides beacon in the Fremkit. Go willing they'd be able to find you.'"
Paul then pulled out his father ring, holding it in his hand and (Y/N) knew that The Duke was dead, causing tears to start to build up.
She placed an arm around Jessica's shoulder, seeing her body shaking with cries. The woman lent into the touch, appreciating the comfort, while (Y/N) and Paul held eye contact.
Once (Y/N) dropped the arm around Jessica, she heard Paul coughing as he turned on a light that showed spice. The girl's face started to grow concerned for him.
Suddenly Paul looked up slowly, like he was in some sort of trance. He was seeing (Y/N) in a white long sleeve dress walking along the sand. She turned around and smiled brightly, her eyes blue and hair covering her face.
(Y/N) kept smiling but turned around again to show soldiers fighting. A brutal war happening. One of the fighters helmet lifted up and there was Paul with blue eyes, holding a knife getting ready to kill.
Paul had tears in his eyes, a few running down his face and (Y/N) couldn't help but wipe them away with her thumb, her concerned face still there as Paul's face looked scared.
"That's the future. It's coming." He started muttering, "The Holy war is spreading across the universe like an unquenchable fire."
(Y/N) and Jessica shared a look, "Paul, you're scared. I can see it. Tell me, please. what do you fear?" The mother whispered.
In his vision, Paul and (Y/N) had their arms wrapped around each other, eyes blue as they stared down at the fight, the killing, from high up in a ship where it was safe.
"Somebody help me, please.." He gasped desperately, tears running down his face.
"Paul.." (Y/N) tired to cup his cheeks to comfort him but he shuffled back away into the corner of the tent.
"It's coming.. The Holy war is spreading across the universe like an unquenchable fire," Paul felt claustrophobic in the tent, his legs skidding into the ground trying to escape, "A warrior religion that waves the Atreides banner in my father's name. Fanatical legions worshiping at the shine of my father's skull."
"A war in my name! Everyone shouting my name!" He yelled, continuing trying to escape the tent. His emotions and visions of the future becoming too much for him to handel.
(Y/N) placed a hand over her mouth, her eyes watery at Paul's words and how he was acting, wanting nothing more to help the suffering boy.
Jessica squeezed her shoulder knowing how she felt, and the mother moved her body closer to her sons, "Paul Atreides.. You are your father's son. You are my son. You are Duke Paul Atreides." She kissed the side of Paul's head, hugging him, "You know who you are."
"Get off me!" Paul yelled loudly, the Voice coming through strong and deep.
(Y/N) jumped at his voice, moving herself and Jessica away from the angry boy. The (H/C) haired girl has never heard him yell like this and it scared her so much.
"You did this to me! Your Bene Gesserit made me a freak!" Paul continued yelling.
Jessica's lips trembled at her son yelling at her, tears falling freely. While (Y/N) stared at Paul scared, frightened to be exact.
Paul was breathing heavily, and fell back onto the Stillent floor. He steadied his breathing and looked back up to (Y/N).
The site of her expression made him sob out loud, "(Y/N)...don't look at me like that." He whispered, voice wobbly.
Her tears fell down her cheeks, the frightened look slowly going away when she heard Paul's normal voice back.
he reached out his arms, hands trembling gesturing for her to hold him,"(Y/N/N)...."
The girl wasted no time and collected her broken boy in her arms, wrapping her arms around his body as Paul's head went into the crook of her arm.
"Hold me please.." Paul's sob was a mix of a plea and beg, his tears running onto her white shirt and his fingers dig into (Y/N)'s back, holding her like she was the only solid thing in the world.
She nuzzled her nose into his curly hair, arms becoming tighter at his plea, "Shh It's okay, my love. It will be okay." She pressed soft kisses on to the side of his head, letting it linger.
Paul cried harder, "My father is dead."
(Y/N) had to bite her tongue to stop her cries, moving a hand up to his hair she tangled her fingers in it, pressing the side of her head against his, "I know.. I'm so sorry," She choked, "But I'm here and I won't leave you, ever."
He lifted his head up from (Y/N)'s arms, looking up at her through his lashes, tears still running down his face. Paul closed the few inches between them and placed his forehead against hers. Something that brought him more comfort than anyone could imagine.
The male travelled his hands up her back, placing one of them behind her neck to keep her in place and the other holding on tightly to her hand, feeling her squeeze back, making his lips quiver.
Their eye lashes brushed as they both closed their eyes. Taking in the presences of one another. The only person that was keeping him together right now was (Y/N) and Jessica knew that as she watched the children in love comfort each other.
They stayed like that for as long as Paul needed.
~
After a little while (Y/N) and Paul separated but the male kept the girl leaning on his side.
Paul placed his father's ring on his finger, looking grim as he did so.
(Y/N) took his ring finger and brought it up to her lips. Leaving a hard kiss against his knuckle.
Paul gave a feeble smile to her, leaning over and pressed a kiss against the crown of her head in return.
A beeping noise was coming from a machine in the center of the tent, "Someone is near." (Y/N) whispered.
"You need to drink. It's recycled water from the tent." Paul told his mother, voice hoarse and handed her the bottle.
Jessica drank from it, making a face when she tasted it.
"Sweat and tears." (Y/N) said seeing Jessica's face, giving a slight smile.
"All right. Let's go out of here." Paul helped (Y/N) up and his mother.
The male going to grab the sand compactor when the (H/C) haired girl stopped him.
"I think I can moved the sand," She said, bending down to grab her quarterstaff.
Paul gave her a curious look, "What? How?"
(Y/N) turned to him determined, "I have a feeling I can," She paused taking a breath, "Just trust me here."
"Always." He nodded, sending her an affectionate smile. The boy would never question her trust nor ideas.
She looked to Jessica for her answer, and the older woman nodded and sent her an reassuring expression.
The (H/C) haired girl nodded to herself, wriggling her shoulders around and stomped her quarterstaff on the tent's floor. Closing her eyes, exhaling and inhaling she focused on the sand around them, picturing it moving.
She reached out one her hands, the other gripping her quarterstaff hard and flexed her finger muscles out.
Outside the tent, the sand around it started to move off it. Levitating slightly above ground, it blew away from the tent and landed on the rest of the sand dune.
(Y/N) grunted as she flexed her hand out more, pushing more focus into moving the sand.
"She's doing it.." Jessica whispered in awe, "She's unlocking the Ardh Waker power."
(Y/N) opened her (E/C) eyes, letting her hand fly back down to her side and saw the tent opened, free from sand. The girl smirked proud of herself and grabbed her quarterstaff again.
Paul once again felt pride swell in his heart for her, following her out and turned around to help his mother out as well.
When they got out a ornithopter flew over them, landing on the desert sand.
(Y/N) gripped her quarterstaff in hand ready to attack if needed. Her eyes squinted seeing who was inside, gasping when she saw who, "It's Duncan."
Paul nodded his head agreeing, grabbing her hand and jogged over to the ornithopter.
Duncan came sprinting out to them, knocking the three back with a hug.
"Duncan.." (Y/N) whispered, tears building up in her eyes glad that he made it out alive. Duncan's arms tightened around her then had let go to look at them.
"My Lady, (Y/N), Paul..." He looked between the three, landing on Paul last, "I'm so sorry... Your father.."
"We known." Paul looked down, the wind blowing his curly hair around.
Duncan got on one knee, bowing and grabbed one of Paul's hands to place it against his forehead, "My Lord Duke."
(Y/N) and Jessica looked to Paul to see his reaction. The boy didn't have any emotion expressed which worried the younger girl.
Paul was no longer a little, scared boy anymore. He was now The Duke of Atrieds.
