20| A CUP OF SALVATION
Cars honking, people chattering, and the occasional sizzle from street food stalls created a symphony that was uniquely Seoul.
Bells, chimes and humans chirping.
A busy day for Seoul and a busy day for The Kim's Cafe!
"Cafe owners are more frustrated than the common labourers," Tobias grumbled lowly, his eyes still on his cup of caffeine; twirling, skimming, gazing.
He watched the man fold a slice of bread as if he were folding a birth certificate or looking at the photograph of a dead lover. He loathed it.
"I have attained the utmost salvation," the same man gripped tightly onto his latte cup, his upper lip smeared with the creamy consistency.
"Huh?"
Tobias repeated pliantly, "S-A-L-V-A-T-I-O-N."
Canoodling the aroma of coffee, the other man breathed a heave of sigh, soon continuing with his further quest, "Which is?" Tobias scrunched his nose, not liking the animosity. He had finally tossed the coin correctly, and recognised him just right. It was Jin.
"Ah, this life, you see. The cafe, the coffee.
You, Ahyun, Bella... What else do I need?" The man grinned, nudging the mug softly against the tabletop while walking up to the kitchen counter.
Tobias leaned back in his chair, his eyes following the man's every move.
He didn't smile; he couldn't get one.
"Could you just quit being what you are not? At least in front of me?"
For some absurd reason, he eyed the younger of the twins suspiciously, and he didn't know why. He, to be honest, wasn't surprised, but rather disgusted.
How contradictory was his whole existential element?
The taller man didn't seem to be budged through his obligations as he kept focusing on the latte art shimmering over the heavy creme with his body resting over the counter.
"Jin... Seo-jin!"
Tobias whisper screamed at the man trying to slip out any ounce of rejoinder.
"You still can't differentiate between us, can you?" Poor Tobias looked to his right following the voice.
A plate with toast and two lovely sunny sides up, along with his favourite strawberry milk; Seojin!
Gulping down the nth time of embarrassment, Tobias opened his eyes and chewed on his bottom lip. How many times had he been a fool now? It was becoming ridiculous.
Tobias blushed, feeling embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Seojin. You and Sejin are identical twins. It's hard for me sometimes."
"You were literally born with us," Sejin chimed in. His blue-grey eyes were woeful as he stared back at Jin.
"You keep on assuming Sejin is me, every time!" It was Seojin this time, chuckling, as he placed the food right in front of the other, "Bon Appetite!"
His smile was warm and comforting, but it was just masking what he was feeling inside, a closed book all the time.
Handing over his apron, Seojin smiled widely, "I will be at Ahyun's tonight, Sejinnie. Don't wait for me!" Winking at the end, the man made his way out. It was a Sunday, the weekly date at Ahyun's.
"Sejin... Why didn't you tell me?"
"Where's the fun in that?"
Tobias sat there in a daze, confused, lost. Thirteen years of knowing them, yet he couldn't scan the worst of the two? The fear in his soul was cold, lonely, and desolate. It crept through his body, starting in his stomach then rolling outward.
"Heard of The Twin Paradox, Mr. Physicist?"
Seojin grinned through the veil of acoustic serenity, continuing his daily chores.
Earning an eager nod from the physicist, his grin turned wider.
"My theory has a bit of alteration, I have lent my soul in search of an actual paradox..."
Tobias pressed his hands against his temples, hoping to ease the confusion that pulsed through his head.
But as he did, the fear within him seemed to intensify. It crept through his body, starting deep in his stomach and slowly rolling outward, like a haunting melody.
"I don't understand you..." He had whispered, in return gaining a chuckle.
It was man's only enemy - fear of lack, fear of failure, fear of sickness, fear of loss, and a feeling of insecurity on some plane. Fear, was the biggest enemy.
And Sejin had already won that over.
He had stared it in the face and refused to back down. He understood that setbacks and failures were merely stepping stones on the path to success.
"You will buddy, you will."
...
The sound of the doorbell could be heard throughout the house, in every room, nook, and cranny. In fact, it was so loud, it could even be heard in a few places outside the house. That proved to be a useful attribute, as its hollow "ding, dong, ding" reached Ahyun's ears even as she was working with a grinder.
The instant she heard the first "ding," she jerked her head towards the screen door, looking through it and down the hall to the front door. The bronze-coloured grip was enclosed in a mahogany hold. Next to it was a tall, glass window, through which anyone inside the house could see anyone who might be standing on the front stoop. Sure enough, she could see Seojin.
She dropped her things as a smile slid across her face. She'd been awaiting this moment all week. She speed-walked into the house, straight down the hallway and to the door. She waved and smiled at her boyfriend outside, who smiled and repositioned herself to stand upright.
"Welcome to my humble abode," she said in a fake deep voice. They both chuckled slightly as Seojin in the blue entered the hallway leaving a peck across her lips. "I was afraid you might not make it."
"Yeah, the bakery kept me a little longer, but I won't miss this for anything, jagiya," he muttered, pulling her close as he claimed her lips again in the sweetest kiss. His arms curled around her waist softly as he tasted those pink plumps that made her tummy turn into a pudgy puddle.
He tasted like the melting caramel of butterscotch, oozing, muffling, blending against the creamy butter aftermath of her senses.
Drowning in ecstasy, oxygen became the devil and the duo parted in lingering need. His fingers played across her face, caressing her soft skin as the lady hummed softly submitting to the warmth.
"Let's finish the movie; we have the whole night."
The deal seemed fair enough as Ahyun quickly stole off a peck before running into the kitchen, followed by her blushing boyfriend.
As they settled on the couch, the movie flickered to life. Ahyun nestled into his embrace, cherishing the comfort of his arms around her. The screen illuminated their faces, casting a soft glow of anticipation. With every passing moment, they found themselves ebbing away into the story, entangled in its world.
Ahyun leaned her head on his shoulder, the touch sending shivers down her spine. The film reached its climax, and so did their bond. With each passing scene, their hearts beat in synchrony, becoming one with the story unfolding before them. But as the credits rolled, reality crept back into their consciousness. They exchanged a knowing glance, an unspoken agreement passing between them.
This night was theirs, to savour every moment, to create memories that would last a lifetime. The movie's tale may have ended, but theirs had only just begun. Seojin led his girlfriend by the hand, pulling her onto him. The anticipation hung in the air like a delicate veil, shrouding them in a cocoon of desire.
"Dinner?" Ahyun whispered, her lips on his.
"We have the whole night for that..."
The night unfolded like a masterpiece, written only for them. With whispered words and languid movements, they painted a canvas of love. In their embrace, they found solace, a sanctuary away from the chaos of the world.
They moved together, two bodies joined as one, moving in a rhythm as old as time itself. The world outside faded away, until there was nothing but them, lost in the throes of passion. Ahyun's moans filled the air, mingling with Seojin's grunts of pleasure. They climbed higher and higher, reaching for that pinnacle of ecstasy.
And when they finally reached it, they shattered together, their bodies convulsing in unison. Wave after wave of pleasure crashed over them, drowning them in a sea of bliss. As they floated down from that high, they clung to each other, their hearts beating as one.
In the aftermath, they lay entwined, basking in the glow of their love. Ahyun traced lazy patterns on Seojin's chest, her head resting on his shoulder. "I love you," she whispered, her voice barely audible over the pounding of his heart.
"I love you too, jagiya," he replied, pressing a kiss to her forehead. "More than anything in this world."
____________
I hope the story has made sense now, what happened to them, who is Sejin, what is their story.
But tell me, what is the reason you think that the police and media were outside their home?
