Chapter Sixteen: Video Call With Parents (Gone Wrong!)

They had Remedial Goodness last.

Gwen sat between Mal and Evie. It was almost the end of class, and she was flipping a pencil in her fingers, bored as hell because she had just finished her work. Carlos had Dude on the table beside his textbook, petting his head every then and now. Gwen was doing the same. Then Fairy Godmother came closer to the Villian kids with a bright smile, as usual. "Children, excuse me. Um...As you know, this Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep. And because your parents can't be here due to, um, distance. Heh, we've arranged for a special treat." She turned around and stepped over to a TV, clicking a key, and the screen showed Maleficent, who was looking extremely closely at the computer on her end. "I don't see, nor do I hear."

"Kids!" Fairy Godmother beckoned us.  The six got up, sighing, knowing this couldn't be good.

"Is it... Is it? Is."

"Press enter?" Jafar said, puzzled by the device. "Can I please see a remote? Is this thing on?
It's broken. Ugh! I hate electronics..." the Queen of Hearts groaned, pressing buttons. "Oh!" the Evil Queen exclaimed, meaning they can see us now. They stepped into the camera's view, Fairy Godmother in the center. Gwen kept a straight face, fidgeting with her bracelet while the others sported fake smiles. "Evie, it's mommy! Oh! Look how beautiful." The Evil Queen smiled, waving frantically over the horned villain's head. "But you know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree." "Don't you mean the weeds?" Maleficent chuckled with the man who was obsessed with lamps. "Oh! Who's the old bat?" Cruella grimaced, pointing at Fairy Godmother.

"This is Fairy Godmother." Mal introduced, gesturing at her.

"Still doing tricks with eggplants?" The Queen of Hearts said. "I turned a pumpkin into a beautiful carriage!" Fairy Godmother shouted, insulted. "Ha! You really couldn't give Cinderella till one a.m.? I mean, really. What? The hamsters had to go back on their little wheels?" The main one joked, making the other four cackled.

"They were mice! They were not. They were... They were not." Fairy Godmother denied, turning around.

"Thank you so much. Thank you." Mal shooed her away, but she whispered they were mice again to the screen. "Hi, mom." Mal smiled a fake smile. "Mal!" She gasped and the purpled hair girl tensed up, lips turned into a frown. "I m-m-miss you..." "You children are never far from our thoughts," Jafar stated, lying so well.

"I got it... How long must Mommy wait to see you?"

"Um. There's a big coronation coming up, I think probably sometime after that." Mal answered calmly.

"When?"

"Friday. Ten A.M."

"You sure I can't see you before that? I don't know what I'll do if I don't get my hands on that magic wa- You, you little nugget, that I love so much!" They all made fake faces of love and adoration for their kids.

"Yes, I completely understand, mother." Mal sighed, face in pain from how long she forced a smile. "Uh, Carlos, Gwendolyn, is that a dog?" Cruella stuck her head closer horizontally. "Oh, yes, yes, Baby, I do understand. It would make a perfect size for earmuffs."

Carlos and Gwen stepped forward, they had Enough. "He's the perfect size for a pet. This dog loves me and I love him!"

"And FYI, your dog is stuffed!" His adopted sister snapped.

"So give it a rest!" The Siblings de Vil both said.

"Aoh!" Carlos's mother and Gwen's guardian frowned, insulted by their courage.

"Oh-ho-ho! Burn!" Jafar laughed at the woman. "Oh! Why don't you go sell a toaster, you two-bit salesman!" Cruella shouted.

"People who talk to stuffed animals shouldn't throw stones!"

They continued to argue, and Gwen stood beside Carlos, whispering to him while holding his shoulder. "You okay?"

"Y-yeah just got angry..." He nodded. "You okay, Wendy?"

His sister flinched a bit. Carlos hadn't called her by that nickname since...since Rick...

"Yeah." She lied.

Jay had enough and pressed the button, shutting it off. Godmother shook her head, sadly. "I'm so sorry..."

"It's fine. You didn't know, miss." Quinn smiled softly.

"Thanks for the special treat." Jay thanked her, maybe sarcastically.

The Headmistress nodded, "Of course."

The teens turned around to grab our schist and began to leave. Gwen threw her bag over her shoulder, tired of how heavy it was. "M? What do you think our parents are gonna do to us if we don't pull this off?" Evie asked nervously.

"I think they will be... quietly disappointed in us, but ultimately proud of us for doing our best." Mal said, obviously being sarcastic.

"Really?" Carlos asked, almost believing it.

"No, I think we are definitely goners."

"That sounds more accurate." Gwen sighed as they all left.
