Seeing the mirror shatter due to her power made everything seem so more real, she was Wanda Maximoff and she was starting to like it.
She took a deep breath and outstretched her tanned hand, moving it upwards like every telekinetic she had seen in the movies. But nothing moved. so she furrowed her brows, red eyes zeroed in on the shards of glass on the floor and willed them to move. And they did. They clattered against the floor quietly and began ascending in the air, hovering a few meters off the floor.
She mentally whispered to them to move closer to her and they did. They deposited themselves in her awaiting hand. A smile bloomed on her face at the move, with this she could get herself and Pietro out. All she needed to do was train more, get a better grip on her understanding of her power, and use her powers as easily as breathing.
A knock sounded at the door, making her leave the confines of her thoughts she looked up at the metal door and a second later it opened with a beep. A doctor in a white coat stood at the door, and a guard dressed in black stood behind him holding the gun tightly across his body watching her every move. Her eyes then flickered to the boy with platinum blonde hair to the side of the doctor, his piercing blue eyes seemed to glow when they landed on her.
"Pietro" she whispered in a bout of surprised English, dropping the glass shard onto her cot as he appeared in front of her in a blink of an eye and wrapped her in a suffocating hug burying his face in her neck. "You have thirty minutes" the doctor snapped before locking them in again.
"Dragฤ mea...You're alive" he mumbled in their mother tongue. While the twins had learned English from their parents and the Sitcoms she made them watch which made Wanda much better at the language and it also helped she was spoke fluent English in her life. But, the Sokovain words brought them a familiar comfort. "I'm okay, we're both okay," she whispered back, wrapping an arm around his waist and running her fingers through his hair which was now platinum blonde with his previous dark roots peeking out. "Whites a new look," Wanda mocked him hoping to lighten the mood. It had worked, Pietro chuckled, stepping back to run a hand through his hair. "Yes, who knew an alien scepter had a fashion sense," he chuckled.
Wanda smiled at her brother, relieved that Hydra experiments had not dampened the mischief that shone in his blue eyes.
"I like it," Wanda murmured, smiling at the new hair colour, it suited him better than the boring brown. She caressed his cheeks feeling the dark growing gruff of hair on his face, which gave his tan skin more dimension. He looked rough like he just ran a marathon. He was wearing a white wife beater showcasing his building muscles, his pants were grey and dirty.
"Are you okay?" She asked, she hadn't seen him this ragged since the night they had run from the orphanage and started living on the streets together.
He nodded, his arm wrapping around her waist pulling her closer to him and nuzzling her neck, laying a soft kiss on her collarbone. Wanda let out a breath at the ticklish sensation, trying to not laugh. "I'm okay now, with you at my side," he murmured against her skin.
"But did the experiments do anything to you? I feel weird...shaky," he asked once he pulled away from her, pulling a strand of hair up with his hand. "Red?" He questioned looking back into her eyes with a tilt of his head. Looking at the strand Pietro had curled around his fingers Wanda noticed new dark red highlights had replaced this body's previous messy artificial streaks. " I guess we both get a new look."
She was amused by his actions, even in the worst of situations he could act like a curious puppy. Pietro laughed delighted at the normalcy and feeling of peace that had returned with their reunion.
Wanda should've known better there was no peace to be found within the confines of Hydra, but no amount of futuristic knowledge could prepare her for the terror that gripped her heart and stole the breath from her lungs as Pietro collapsed.
Time seemed to slow as she watched Pietro's fingers slip from her hair. His whole body started to vibrate, blurring his figure as his knees gave out beneath him.
"Pietro!" She yelled in fright, her own body dropping to the floor after him as she tried to pull him together but her hand seemed to fall right through him like he was a mirage. Despite being an only child and having no attachment of her own with Pietro she still felt the overwhelming fear she felt seeing him shaking, blurring in and out of existence. She wasn't even sure if he was real anymore if he was just a blurry construct she had created because of Wanda's leftover love and care for him.
She wasn't sure of anything anymore since she woke up in a different body after dying and connecting with a celestial-powered stone. But the one thing she knew was real was her love for Peitro and she would make sure they got out to a safe place and she didn't care if she had to do the unthinkable. She didn't care if she wasn't his real sister, Pietro was all that mattered in that moment.ย
"Pietro, can you hear me?" Wanda gently asks, her form hovering over his as she tries her best to push the hair out of his face and get him to notice her. His body racked with shivers as he blurred in and out. "You're okay, we're okay. You're experiencing the after effects of the experiments."
"W-Wanda," he stuttered out before a loud groan left his mouth.
"Shh," she mumbled to him, her mind elsewhere connecting to the doctors, urging him to come to them, to help. Soon the doctor came rushing in with two soldiers loyally standing behind him, flanking him on either side and another doctor behind him with a cot to transfer Pietro away.
Before they could touch him, red wisps of power came surging out softly, wrapping around Peitro's body like a cocoon and gently lifting him into the air, unaware her dark green eyes were now a glowing red. She slowly moved her hand, her other one tightly wrapped around Pietro's who was holding her like a lifeline and perhaps she was.
Wanda gently deposited him onto the soft metal stretcher and urged the H.Y.D.R.A doctors and guards forward, to the med bay. Their footsteps were hurried as their heavy boots clanked against the metal ground.
Wanda watched from behind, nervously chewing on her right thumbnail, watching them hook him up to an IV and running tests. The bald doctor stood next to her, his calloused hand heavy on her shoulder and she shrugged it off and threatened, "If my brother doesn't wake up better tomorrow, you will all die."
Her voice carried through the small med bay with bright lights shining atop her twin brother, the guards' hands twitched over their guns in front of them and the doctors shivered at her threat. All of them knew the Maximoffs, the only survivors of the stone experiments but they had been well-behaved, eager with the mission and never once had threatened anyone. But over a couple of years they had known the pair, they noticed their particular closeness, the protectiveness over each other and most of them saw it as a weakness to keep the other in line. But it wasn't a weakness now, not with Wanda processing the powers she now holds
Their beady eyes followed her skinny form as she walked away from the med-bay, unable to cope with seeing her brother in pain. The metal door slammed on its own regard like it had a life of its own.
Claire didn't think of herself as a hostile or even violent person, she was rather the opposite. She was carefree and loved nature and children who she saw as the hope of humanity but she did have the occasional temper when warranted or provoked. Most people thought Claire Grimaldi was an angel amongst men, and yet beneath her porcelain skin that was littered with tan specks of freckles it was not ichor that ran deep it was something a bit more ...vindictive. She wasn't the type of person to go out of their way to be mean or rude to strangers or innocent people, she was only hostile to people who messed with her - which thankfully didn't happen very often.
Sweet geeky Clarie believed in karma, the good and bad in equal parts. You do something bad unwarranted and something bad would happen to you, do something good and something blessed would happen to you. Maybe that was why she strived to do so much good, like care for children, sit down with old people and help them feed birds or help people with simple things that made their lives just a little better. She did those things believing the universe would be more lenient when she chose to be cruel.
In her past life or simply the Other, if that's what she would call it, she had never had a consuming love in her life. sure she loved her parents despite the expectations they had for their only child or the fact they secretly didn't think being a teacher for young children was a worthy aspiration. They still supported her and loved her and Claire did the same.
And sure she had a boyfriend or two, a few one-night stands, exploring her body and sexuality with either sex over her twenty-seven years of life but she had never felt so strongly for another than the way she felt for Pietro. Perhaps it was the original Wanda's strong feelings that left those protective and possessive feelings but Claire couldn't deny the way how real they were. How real it all felt to her now.
She remembered every day she had been with Pietro like she was there like she was the one that made him laugh with a rare corny joke or was the one who had cuddled him to sleep after a long day or the one who helped him heal mentally and physically after a painful experiment.
She couldn't deny the fact she would forever remember his smell of bergamot orange, nutmeg, and cedar, with the underlying hint of stale chemicals or the way a simple touch from him could bring her such safety and warmth or the way his lips set her body aflame.
So, if anyone from H.Y.D.R.A thought they could harm a single hair of his body then there would be hell to pay and no one would be getting out alive but them. Because that's the way it's always been, the two of them standing as one against the world. Even if she wasn't his Wanda anymore. He was still her Pietro and he forever would be.
Unsurprisingly, it took the 'greatest minds of HYDRA' an hour to finally come up with an explanation of what happened to Pietro and Wanda had come up with the answer two minutes after leaving the med bay.
She had paced up and down the base - the parts she was allowed in - mentally mapping the entire place out, counting and watching the guards and figuring out the best time to escape. Worry still clung to her lithe form as her brain came up with all sorts of reasons why Pietro collapsed in her arms and it was the simplest thing. He was bound to have after-effects after touching an infinity stone, simply holding one or daring to use it usually always left the user dead. An alien Titan had needed a metal gauntlet crafted by Dwarfs before he even thought of using all six because of the sheer power and backlash it had on the user - human or not.
There was a very long list of cons to possessing one infinity stone let alone all six that cast shadows of doubt on daring to accomplish the quest the mind stone had bestowed upon her. Sure Wanda Maximoff was strong, there was no denying it but she and the Original didn't know how to use their powers or where they really came from. It was only after reading and using the Darkhold did Wanda figure out how to use them in WandaVision which made her think of ways to get the Darkhold from Agatha Harkness without having to play house and lure her in. She could put that on the back burner though, Wanda was not looking forward to dealing with the possibility of corruption by dark magics.
With that in mind, she didn't think she could use the stones, she knew she had the power to destroy one but wielding them was a different thing entirely. But for now, she had to collect all of them before Thanos and bring them together in the name of Family. Something she knew the value of immensely, she couldn't bear being away from her brother for an hour she didn't know if she could live without him for centuries.
Occam's Razor, she mused as she made her way back to the med bay after a guard had come to inform her brother was fine. She was surprised at the treatment she got for being an experiment but she was a volunteer and they believed she was on their side.
He was hungry. With his new superhuman speed that rivaled The Flash (wrong universe Wanda reminded herself), his metabolism also increased and it meant he needed to eat more calories than he used to because he ran through it after using them.
Wanda walked into the med bay, watching as the doctors refilled Pietro's IV drop, writing things down on their clipboards with their chicken scrawl that was worse than the toddlers she used to look after in the Other. Their backs straightened when they noticed her, watching them looming behind them like a shadow.
Feelings of fear, panic and slight annoyance bubbled through the room that she could only see and feel. Being an empath was a curse, especially with the taste of bitter lemons and pure adrenaline hanging thick in the air. There was no rule pro of being an empath in Wanda's mind, people's faces and body language usually always gave away their inner thoughts. But she can read them too now.
"Who does she think she is?"
"Hopefully she doesn't hex us or something. I've seen her in the training room, it's crazy!"
"Her brother is her biggest weakness and she doesn't even care to hide it"
She ignored all the doctors and silently stood to the left of her brother, her hand gently running through his new platinum hair. It would've looked natural if not for the dark brown roots. As she hummed a soothing tune she remembered from the past, Claire's past or Wanda's she wasn't sure.
As she tried coaxing her brother awake she was unaware of her eyes pulsing a dark red and she blinked, finding herself elsewhere - far away from the med bay in the Sokovian HYDRA base. She soon found herself away from the milling doctors with loud thoughts but out on the streets of Sokovian, long before HYDRA when it was just her and her brother surviving.

They had been on their own for weeks scrounging for food and stealing from small businesses and street vendors to survive after running from the orphanage. The first two days Wanda had to practically drag Pietro through the streets, dodging authorities and taking whatever she could get her hands on while he remained in a dazed trance-like state. They didn't speak during that time, the silence between them refusing to be drowned by the sounds of the city hung on their shoulder like a cloak.
Wanda had done her best to provide, keeping them warm at night using blankets and boxes or wielding a young girl's charm to coax money and food from strangers. It was Pietro who pointed out they would become their makeshift home for the next few years if they truly wanted to live.ย
The twins came across a condemned library that seemed to be a victim of the violence that plagued their country. Wrapping his hand around his sister's wrist, Pietro pulled Wanda to stop and gestured toward it, " We can make that work.''
Wanda hummed, taking a step forward before her brother pulled her off to the side of the building pointing to a run-down shed nearby. Wanda frowned " I guess we can make that work too" she muttered allowing Pietro to drag her closer.
Pietro shook his head, amusement breaking through the numb haze he'd been in the last few weeks. He knew Wanda would have preferred the larger library to take shelter in but the walls were crumbling and half the roof seemed to have caved in. Pietro would not trust the structure and integrity of what remained in his sister's life. He would do anything to protect her, and Pietro would do anything for her.
He had proven that when he pushed the Matron to protect his sister. He had proven that when he killed in the name of their bond, their love no one seemed to understand or even want to and he knew the evil Matron was dead. She was old and fragile and he used all his strength in that push, he saw the blood and he knew Wanda did too. Though they never spoke to each other, it hung over both of their heads but Pietro didn't feel any guilt in taking a life for his sister, their mother would be ashamed of him but he didn't care. Wanda was all that mattered and he loved her, he didn't care if it was unnatural to love his sister the way he did. He just did and there was nothing unnatural about it. With that revelation, he continued to guide her over the threshold and into what would be their new home.
The interior of the shed was empty; anything of use or value was long gone but as his sister had said, they'd make due. " Well it's not my first choice but not bad either" Wanda murmured, removing a backpack she'd taken and removing the blankets they had stored inside to lay out on the floor creating a bed of sorts.
Pietro watched Wanda bustle about with a small smile on her face as she pulled thing after thing out of the bag, he didn't know how she could fit the amount of things they had in something small. He left her bed and sought out sticks and a few weathered books from the library and started making a fire in the corner of the shed. Close enough to the bed that they could lay comfortably and stay warm without catching fire. They ate the warm can of beans in silence like they had since they left the orphanage.
Pietro hated being silent, he had ever since he was a boy, he liked being loud and heard but he didn't necessarily like the way they came to be in their new home without their parents Though he didn't feel guilt for taking a life, he still did it and guilt chipped at him. They could've escaped without killing the Matron but the fear of seeing his sister get hurt or even the idea of being separated from her brought him into a blinding rage, as it always had. Wanda was a soothing balm for him, she kept him calm and quiet and he couldn't bear the thought of her hating him or being ashamed of him and that's what it felt like.
It was as if Wanda could hear the very thoughts raging in his head as she placed a hand on his knee atop the blanket lying across their laps. After weeks, Wanda finally mentioned the 'elephant' in the room, "I don't hate or blame you for the...Matron. I could never hate you, you know that right? I love you and I'm sorry you had to do that for us."
Bouts of tension left Pietro's body the moment her sweet Sokovian words ran true in the empty shed. "I know. No one will ever separate us or hurt you. I won't let them, I love you," Pietro replied, turning to her and was left in awe at his sister, the way the small fire lit up her dark eyes that were fixed on him.
And then their lips were met each others in a soft embrace and Pietro all but melted under his sisters warmth and affection. It was tantalizingly slow, full of each emotion one could feel for another all rolled up into one simple action. Pietro knew he was in love but this made it all the more clearer.
His mind didn't register the act but he felt the soft skin of Wanda's cheek under his rough palm and she all but leaned into it. When they stopped to catch their breath, their foreheads connected gently under the small fires light. They were connected mind, body and soul and nothing or anyone would get in the way of the that.
As they huddled closer with Wanda near but on his lap, his arms protectively around her he felt free and happier than he had felt for months. They where together and they had a place to call home for the moment and everything else could be dealt with later.

It was only a few days after Pietro's power breakdown caused by his now-increasing appetite and the shared dream they had. Wanda could feel her power growing and it scared her more than she would admit. She tried her hardest to keep a tight grip on it making sure she left Pietro out of all crosshairs. With her new powers, privacy was out the door and it was hard to put those boundaries back up again when becoming an empath and mind reader - it's not like she wanted to hear and feel every thought of a stranger but it helped her get closer and closer to getting out of the HYDRA base.
Life at the base was dull; wake up, train, undergo tests and experiments with incompetent doctors, eat shitty food, then more training and sleep only for it to rinse and repeat the next day. Pietro was her only relief at the base, he made everything better, lighter and happier.
The day had gone simpler enough with a few tests and more boring target practice to focus her powers on a small target instead of a wide attack which was easier to do. Controlling her wisps of magic to a small spot was hard but she was slowly getting the hang of it but she knew Kamar-Taj and perhaps the Ancinet One could help her better with her magic and her new situation and purpose. The image of a bald man in a wheelchiar and mansion was also appealing but she wasn't sure that was a thing here. She needed to get better control over powers to protect herself and Pietro and put a stop to Thanos.
She was tired when she retreated to her cell, cracking all the bones in her body with a groan. She was getting tired of the whole routine, she had a hard time going to sleep with all the memories from the original Wanda on top of her own. The food was bad and not enough to keep her going since her powers needed a lot of energy, similar to Pietro's but not on the same scale.
She was utterly ready to leave all she needed to do was get Pietro on board, she had most of the guard routines down and knew the place like the back of her hand since Sytker - the lead researcher and leader of their small little base in Sokovia - trusted them enough to let them wander and go outside to help the other guards and Peitro needed more space to test his speed and endurance. It was good to be seen as a volunteer instead of an unwilling participant, they had more freedom and benefits but they were still prisoners in their own home country. Being a volunteer gave them the advantage of a surprise attack, no one would suspect her hatching a plan to leave and destroy the base with them and thenย slip into the night with their precious stone.
Wanda lay on the cot with a creak of metal, tucked her hands behind her head loosened her body to relax and closed her eyes. She let the previous day's events slip into easy images behind her eyes and focused on Pietro and the happy smile on his face as he ran in and out between the multiple trees within the snowy Sokovian base. Wanda hadn't seen Pietro so alive ever, even before their parents and the bomb but when he was running he was so happy and truly alive.
Wanda's breathing slowed down, the rise in her chest slower as she fell deeper into memories surrounding Pietro as she slept. Wanda didn't know how long it was until the happy memories turned to ash and another memory resurfaced, it was blurrier than any other memory she had seen of Wanda's and at first, she couldn't feel any type of emotion from it like she usually did, she wasn't a first party anymore, it felt like she was there watching from the sidelines.
The room Wanda now found herself in was quaint and simple, dark oak wood encased the couple lying on the bed. There was a small candle on the metal bedside table flickering in the dark, showing Wanda there were two figures on the bed.
The woman was awake, her dark brown curly hair was all over the place after just waking up, and the red slip she wore hung off her tan shoulder. Wanda examined the familiar woman, she was heavily pregnant but she was still beautiful. Wanda had an inkling as to who the woman in the bed was and her eyes near reared up at the woman who looked like she could be her older sister. She had only see an old tattered photo of her 'mother' Marya's sister when she was very young and she barely remembered what the dead woman looked like but the resemblance was there.
The woman gently rubbed the white haired man's naked chest with a forlorn look on her pretty face. Her green eyes narrowed at the sight of the shaking bedside table, a quiet scratching noise as the bedside table moved on its own accord closer to the man who shook and twitched in his sleep.
Then he awoke with a start, a scream dying in the back of his throat and panted heavily, his eyes unseeing but frightened as they flickered around the room. "It was just a bad dream Magnus," a gentle unfamiliar voice coaxed him back into reality.
He let out a shaky sigh and laid back on the pillow with a familiar heaviness. He smiled up at the woman gently, his hand rubbing along her large stomach and spoke, "I knowย Nat. I'm sorry for waking you."
"You didn't, these two are a handful. I'm almost afraid for us when they come out." Natayala told him with a beaming soft smile and Magnus or rather Erik's frown disappeared and he leaned his forehead against hers, a sigh fanning her face.ย
Then everything went up in flames. Erik was gone and so was the cosy house. All Wanda saw was her mother on fire, screams for her babies dying in her throat and the smell of burning flesh would be forever ingrained in her brain. All Natalya wanted was her children, the last piece left behind by the person she loved and like any true mother she died trying to help and protect them.
Then the dream switched and Wanda knew the people quicker than the previous couple. She knew them a lot better than the other couple but had no real memory of the moment playing out before her.
"We'll take care of them, they'll all I have of my sister," A black-haired woman with kind brown eyes told a man in a white doctor coat, smiling down at two clothed babies. It was easy to recognize her adopted mother Marya Maximoff even if she looked younger than she remembered.
A tan man came up beside the woman, pulling his arm around her shoulders and kissing the side of her forehead. 'Django Maximoff,' her uncle and adopted father. Wanda could still remember the little shows he put on for them with his puppets when she was younger.
Then the memory fast-forwarded and the Romani couple walked outside into the unforgivable snow, leaving a large temple-like building behind them. Wundagore Mountain, the birthplace of the Elder God, Cthon and the home of High Evolutionary. Some would also argue it was the birthplace of the Scarlet Witch.

The next two days Wanda unconsciously became increasingly fidgety, something akin to a cornered animal and Pietro was growing worried. So, he decided to broach the subject, his voice was soft and gentle, something he only reserved for her.
"Wanda, my love, tell me what's wrong. You've been on edge for days," he asked gently, his Sokovian accent curling around his tongue and it made Wanda take a deep breath in, her once tense body relaxing like usual. Her eyes shifted from their conjoined hands to the small camera in the corner of her room and her hand twitched, an almost unseeable red wisp of power turning it blank.
She shifted on the cot, her knees comfortably touching his as she moved her free hand to cup his cheek, her fingers dancing over the small beard she was beginning to love. It wasn't too long and not too sharp and made him look older despite his slightly more immature personality compared to hers.
She gently smiled and Pietro's heart skipped a beat like it usually did, he used to be scared of it but he now fully embraced the love he held for his dear younger twin sister, 12 minutes wasn't a long time but to him it was. It meant he was her protector, her shield her sword and whatever she needed him to be. By the gods, was he in love with her, it consumed him fully as if he was under her charm but he knew with all his heart it was not because of her spell, she would never do that to him.
He fell in love with her long before she grew the powers she now wields with a proud smirk and he wasn't afraid to admit seeing her in action in the training rooms did something to him, something he shouldn't be feeling for his twin sister. But he has long thrown care of societal ways of thinking out the window the first time they kissed after he had nearly killed someone for her and he would do it again in a heartbeat.
His cheek leaned further into the warm palm of her hand, his eyes fluttering closed for a moment, just feeling her and the warmth she brought to him. "We need to leave, Pietro. This place isn't safe, they have no idea about our powers. They aren't who they say they are," she whispered, her warm breath fanning his face and Pietro's metaphorical hackles raised at her words, the fear in her soft voice made all the hair on his body stand to attention.
Pietro's eyes opened quickly, he moved away slightly but kept his cheek in her palm, his brown eyes boring into her green ones with a hot intensity, "What do you mean?"
"HYDRA isn't good, they're evil, they kill innocent people. There a Nazi organization and I won't stand by people like that. We did this for Sokovia but we haven't done anything besides being tested on like animals," She told him, her hand pulling away from him and Pietro's eyes dimmed slightly at the loss of connection. She didn't know how to explain HYDRA to him, he had seen the worst parts of them, undergone experiments in the name of power - to help their home.
"Wanda, they're going to help us get our revenge on Stark. We have power now; we can avenge our parents and our home! We just need to train more, like they said," He responded, his voice growing deeper at the thought of Stark. He preferred it when his only thought was Wanda, the soft smile she only sent his way, the way her lips latched onto his skin like she had been denied water and skin for years. The way her eyes lit up in yearning every time he was nearby. Not a mass murderer who is the one responsible for the destruction of his entire life, family and home.
Pietro watched the love of his life let out a shaky sigh as she stood up, leaning over him lifted his chin up and spoke, "Stark is not the bad guy. Someone stole his weapons and sold them under the table to nefarious people, Obadiah Stane is the reason we were trapped under that bed. Stark didn't know about it, he doesn't sell weapons anymore, not after finding out the truth of Stane. I won't allow us to risk our lives on ill-placed revenge on the wrong person. I need you safe, by my side not following the orders of some Nazi's that actively commit mass murder and try to take over the world. They don't care about Sokovia, they're taking advantage of the civil turmoil for their base."
Pietro looked angry, and it sent a wave of fear into Wanda, she had never seen him angry at her, his anger had never once been pointed at her. His accent grew rougher with every word, "Wanda what's wrong with you? You're the one that wanted to do this. You wanted to avenge our parents. And now you're saying it was a mistake? Our parents were killed because of him!"
She cupped both of his cheeks and answered, "I know and I was wrong. The mind stone helped me realize everything. It helped me realize that Stark isn't that one to blame. We have spent years of our lives on revenge, we live in cages right now! We could be out there, living and not just existing. Now, we need to leave before they get tired of us and kill us. Or worse."
The anger crumpled from his face, hearing the serious tone in her voice and he knew she would never lie to him. He reigned in his anger seeing the tears gathering in her beautiful eyes, "What did this stone do to you?" he asked in fear.
Wanda didn't really want to tell him the whole truth, how does one tell someone they died and got reincarnated in a comic book? The simple answer - you don't. Wanda knew Pietro loved her but if he knew the truth, he would see her as an outsider, a bodysnatcher - which she was but she wasn't ready to lose the only person she knew and loved in her new world. So she somewhat twisted the truth, "It helped me realize everything was wrong. It showed me the future. Our future and our past - it's a lie. The Maximoffs aren't our biological parents but our aunt and uncle. Our biological father is alive and we might have siblings. We're not alone, we could have a family, a real home. We can start over, somewhere where we don't have to worry about getting by on scraps or getting gunned down. I love Sokovia, it's our home but we can't do anything here, not with HYDRA. Everything is going to go to shit in a few years and we need to be prepared."
Wanda just wished she was right, she had seen brief images from the mind stone about Wanda's past but before the bomb, she hardly remembered anything - it was shrouded in darkness. She could attest it was trauma but something churned in her stomach at the thought, it didn't feel right. So with her brief knowledge, she did her best. Wanda's character had changed a lot, like most characters and she wasn't a hundred per cent sure what universe they were in. It seemed like a merge of the movies and comics from what the mind stone showed her. Mutants were a thing but there were no X-men, most of the mutants were in hiding. HYDRA barely talked about the X-Gene and when they did they didn't have much to go on since they hadn't had many to experiment on over the years. The researchers and doctors thought their powers were from a spectre but Wanda knew it just kick-started their powers.
Pietro looked bewildered at the reveal, even without his powers Wanda knew his brain was going into overdrive, Wanda could see. The way her words echoed over and over in his head. Images of being a family, being somewhere safe where they didn't have to hide their lives for each other and a place they could grow old in. "A family? Okay...I...I believe you, I always will. We'll leave. Us against the world like it always has been. I'll stay by your side forever. We were made for each other." He said, smiling and caressing her cheek.
A smile spread across her tanned face and a sense of pride bloomed in Pietro's chest at the thought he was the one that put it there. She let out a giggle and it was Pietro's turn to smile, especially when she sat in his lap on the cot and she wrapped her arms around his neck, gently curing the ends of his long hair between her fingers. "Let's leave soon, I'll get us out of here. We'll go to America and get help so we can shut places like this down. We can find our family."
"Anything you want, Draga," he whispered, his eyes burning with arousal as he kissed her cheek and Wanda didn't mind it was closer to the sides of her lips than her actual cheek. She just leaned closer into his touch, her breasts flushed against his strong chest and their hearts meddled in sync.
She pecked his lips softly, almost shyly, she pulled back quickly and said, "I've got to get to medial before they send guards in. Just act like normal and i'll figure something out."
He nodded and wrapped his arms around her for a tight hug before pulling back, his hands on her hips, lower than a brother would. "I'll come with you. I don't like being away from you." He pouted childishly with a smile.
Wanda didn't really know how to explain the relationship between Pietro and her original self even with the help of memories. She knew it wasn't right by society to kiss and love your sibling like they did or treat them like a lover but she couldn't find it in her to care. People could think what they wanted and say what they wanted but it wasn't going to change anything, their love was too strong for that. And it wasn't like she was hurting anyone. She knew it would be a different story if, in her other life, she had a sibling but she didn't. She saw herself as Claire and Wanda, a mixture of both with memories and feelings from both lives. She loved him, Original Wanda loved him and Pietro loved her and she thought that was the end of it.
She nodded with a beaming smile, grabbed his hand and fixed the camera before leaving the room for their almost daily check-in. Wanda quickly grew bored of their far-reaching explanations of her power and her face twitched every time they said something wrong. They were proud of their experiments but they had no idea the power that was curling under her skin, they thought her weak and controllable. They were far from right but Wanda let them dream, it would be easier for her to leave with Pietro if they didn't know the full scope of her powers.
Wanda's mind was flickering through places to go after they escaped and ways to get the precious infinity stones back together.
