02. OH REALLY?

The very definition of fun is dying, dying again, and nobody wondering how the hell you're not dead.

Everyone in S.H.I.E.L.D seemed accustomed to it, Pietro did try a few times to explain to Robin and Elizabeth that they should be surprised about his 'death'. Elizabeth's response was that after 'Coulson' and 'The Snap' nothing would surprise her anymore, Robin instead took him down for a talk about S.H.I.E.L.D always having a backup plan for everything, and his death was an opportunity for S.H.I.E.L.D to get a new weapon- Oh no, for S.H.I.E.L.D to get another person to 'change the world for better good'.

Which was weirdly similar to the speech Elizabeth gave him when he woke up, alive after he got shot seven times.

Elizabeths must have something in common, except archery, being Clint Barton's trainees/daughter, loving cuddles, and artsy stuff.

Oh yeah...babysitting Pietro and Maria Hill basically attempting to adopt them.

He just looooovvveeeed them. Much better than Sharon, then again, anybody was better than Sharon nowadays. Okay, Sharon still was better than Barnes, she never... broke anyone's heart. Cause Peter didn't count Chambers.

"At least we didn't almost die this time," Robin said positively, Peter gaped at her. Optimism? Now?

"Oh really? Well Mrs. Robin Hood-"

"Do not call me that you sokovian bastard."

"-last time I recall," Peter glared at her, trying to make a serious face. Robin stuck out her tongue at him, making the seriously face hard to make. "You were rambling on about how S.H.I.E.L.D has an 'Autumn Soldier' and got stabbed in the hip by a grouch ex-agent of HYDRA-"

"I did not!" Robin gave him an offended face. "It's true, dad said so, S.H.I.E.L.D has a version of the Winter S-"

"No, it doesn't." A voice interrupted Robin's passionate rant. Peter groaned internally. Hill stood there, arms crossed, eyebrow raised. Behind her, Elizabeth Mist and Agent Noah Rodriguez looked highly uncomfortable, as if dragged along to a party they didn't want to attend.

Which meant all parties for Elizabeth.

"That rumor is Agent Thriteen's fault." Hill declared. "And it's a rumor, nothing else."

Robin mumbled one more thing about her dad, Bobbi Morse, and Melinda May before muttering that she had completed the mission.

"Lovely to have you back Agent Robin," Hill said with a nod to the archer, she looked at Peter disdainfully. "And you."

"Judging from your very enthusiastic meeting, you missed me." Peter smirked. But it was soon wiped off his face when Hill cleared her voice, glaring at him.

"Why do you...um...need us in particular?" Noah asked cautiously. Hill nodded like he'd asked a great question.

"I'm assembling a team-"

Elizabeth groaned, interrupting Hill. Which happened as often as Robin letting Peter run around screaming 'I'M ACTUALLY PIETRO MAXIMOFF AND I'M NOT DEADD.'

Also called 'never.'

Hill seemed as taken aback as Peter thought, and Noah proceeded to look at his shoes like they were the most interesting thing in the room, Robin cringed subtly.

"And comments Agent Mist?" Hill's voice indicated she'd expected the protest from Elizabeth, and Peter couldn't blame her much, after getting your heart broken by an Avenger, getting no credit for helping save the universe, hating Steve Rogers, Tony Stark and Natasha Romanoff dying, Clint Barton going nuts, and the whole existence of Bucky Barnes, he'd also hate the Avengers.

No, he forgot to add her odd hatred to Wanda.

Elizabeth sighed, clearly displeased by the words 'I'm assembling a team.' She fidgeted with the S.H.I.E.L.D logo on her uniform. "Nothing of logical value Agent Hill."

Peter looked over at Robin, one eyebrow raised. Robin squinted at the level seven, Hill nodded skeptically.

What bothered Peter was Robin's face, it was the 'oh shit what's gonna happen' face, the one she had before bad stuff happened, like the Snap, or Cheryl breaking up with him.

"Like the Avengers?" Noah concluded, breaking the awkward silence.

Oh no.

Of course, Peter was having a bad day, cause Hill nodded, probably impressed by Noah's perceptiveness.

"Something like that," She crossed her arms, scanning the four agents' reactions. Noah seemed to be weighing the pros and cons calmly, Robin was pinching her arm, unsure if she was dreaming or not, and Elizabeth closed her eyes, probably itching to go back to her mission. Peter wasn't attracted or dispelled by the idea.

"Okay...?" Noah shrugged indecisively. Hill seemed somewhat relieved by one person joining her S.H.I.E.L.Dified Avengers.

Wait, Hill was talking to all of them! Including Peter.

"You...want me, to join your team," Peter said slowly, blinking to make sure Hill was asking him. Maria Hill nodded as if she was tired of the question. Robin gave an eyeroll, and Elizabeth covered her face, ashamed that he wasn't responding quicker, Noah looked at the ceiling with a tiny sigh.

"Yes Maxwell, and don't make me regret asking you." She answered with a small glare, on a scale of Bruce Banner to Hulk, she was...at a two and a half, an irritated scientist.

Peter left her to hang for a while, considering it at the speed of a snail in slow motion. Until finally reaching his decision, Hill seemed very irritated by her having to wait. "I guess...are there any more attractive females close to my age-"

"MAXWELL!" Elizabeth shouted, looking downright horrified, Hill cracked half a smile and masked it with a cough, and Robin facepalmed and muttered about him being dumb. Peter shrugged innocently.

"You can't blame me, my last date with Cheryl was ages ago-"

"You two broke up." Robin said flatly, Peter felt a strong urge to duct-tape her mouth shut, Elizabeth nodded sympathetically.

"Never thought she was right for you. Too much lipstick." She decided, and Robin nodded vigorously in agreement.

Okay, Pietro wanted to duct tape both of their mouths. What was wrong with Elizabeths' and lipstick?

"Meanies." He told them, Hill glared at him.

"Fine." Elizabeth stuffed her hands in the pockets of her suit, looking much like the Winter Soldier given an unsatisfactory mission but couldn't say no to it.

"Agent Robin?" The woman raised an eyebrow at Robin, who was uncharastically silent.

"Um...can I sleep on it?" She asked, Peter nodded, putting on a fake serious face.

"Yeah," He handed her a slip of paper, she frowned, and then punched his shoulder.

"Not literally!" She waved the sticky note at him, which proudly read. 'Do you want to join the Avengers 2.0?'

"It's a figure of speech," Elizabeth said testily, the speedster rolled his eyes.

"Tell me something I don't know."

Robin took the challenge seriously, ranting things like 'pluto isn't really a planet' and 'Dad has a cousin' and 'Steve Rogers has a sister.'

All of which he knew, of course, he definitely knew Steve Rogers had a highly attractive sister.

But he didn't know why Robin's shadow was larger than her.

"This place is seriously depressing me," Robin muttered, twelve hours later after Robin finally decided she was okay with joining the new Avengers, and of course, Hill sent them to get someone 'as soon as possible.'

It was true, the rain had left puddles and a gray sky, and it didn't help that the abandoned factory had some weird smudges on the walls, it really didn't help.

"Yeah..." Peter trailed off, grinning at an old memory. "I remember one time, me, Elizabeth, and Sharon-"

Robin promptly covered her ears, unwilling to hear about Sharon. She shook her head and began to sing 'Most Girls' at a way too loud volume, which kinda made stealth impossible.

A tumble of crates though made Robin snatch the bow clipped to her back and Peter trip.

"Someon-" Robin started, determined to look like a hero from an action movie. Peter wasn't in the mood though.

"HELLO!" He shouted, Robin's mouth fell open, scandalized by Peter's audacity. "I'M PETER AND I WORK FOR M-"

But he was cut off by a loud 'SHHHH.'

Even funnier? It didn't come from Robin, cause she looked as confused as him. The sokovian turned around slowly, his eyes flickering from one part of the room to another.

A thud, like a head hitting concrete. Robin dashed towards the sound, and Peter dashed after her, at superspeed for good measure.

Time slowed down for Peter like usual, suddenly everything shifted, he wasn't Peter Maxewell, he was Pietro Maximoff the Quicksilver. The blue trail turned red, proving the genius of FitzSimmons, Robin was stuck in the motion of lifting her left foot.

Pietro ran around the corner in time to see a bizarre scene. A kid, not much older than sixteen, with long dark blonde hair slamming a large guy into a container wall, the guy looked very much like someone dropped a building on his face, or perhaps blown up a few times.

The girl turned around in slow motion, recognition slowly spreading over her face as she saw Pietro.

"Brooklyn?"

"Peter?"

GRACE
I promise I'll stop with the canon narrating, I promise, the next one is gonna feat. Florence Rogers and Giselle Winters.
Yeah kinda boring again, huh? I really try with the cliffhangers.
Next Chapter: Friday, am I determined? Yes. Do I like writing? Also yes.

Yeah, I know this isn't Robin's POV, but I couldn't resist. She's an awesome character... actually scratch that, all of them are.
