Two months had passed since the IPL, and a lot had changed. The T20 World Cup had just concluded, and India had emerged victorious against South Africa in a thrilling final.
The streets were filled with celebrations, the entire nation basking in the glory of their triumph.
The players, exhausted but elated, had returned home, where they were welcomed like heroes.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, fresh off his victory, was in high spirits as he made his way to Saumya's apartment.
His phone was buzzing non-stop with messages from friends, family, and fans, but he needed a moment to himself.
A moment to unwind, and more importantly, to be with Saumya.
The win had been incredible, but he couldn't shake the thought of her all day.
He entered her building and made his way up to her apartment. As he stood in front of her door, he grinned, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves.
It had been a few weeks since they'd spent quality time together, and he had a surprise for her.
He had kept it quiet, not wanting to spoil the moment, but now that he was here, everything felt right.
He knocked softly on the door, and within seconds, it opened. There she was—Saumya, looking as stunning as ever, dressed casually in a comfortable oversized sweater and leggings.
She smiled when she saw him, her eyes lighting up, and the warmth of her presence made Yashasvi forget everything else for a moment.
"Hey, you!" she said, pulling him into a hug.
"Congratulations on the win! I'm so proud of you."
Yashasvi chuckled, his voice soft as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Thanks, babe. It feels good to win, but I think this is what I've been looking forward to the most."
She pulled back and raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"Oh, really? You're not just saying that because you know I'll pamper you?"
"Maybe," he grinned, "but I do need some of your pampering. You have no idea how much I've missed this."
Saumya smiled, her heart swelling as she looked at him. She hadn't seen him this relaxed in a while.
Between his intense training sessions, the tournament, and everything else, Yashasvi had been preoccupied.
But now, in the calm of her apartment, they could finally have their moment.
"I'll get you something to drink," she said, turning toward the kitchen. "And I have a surprise for you too."
Yashasvi raised an eyebrow, curiosity piqued.
"A surprise? For me? What's that?"
She winked, not revealing anything just yet. "You'll see."
As she made her way to the kitchen, Yashasvi leaned against the doorway, still grinning like a fool.
He'd been thinking a lot about her lately, about how they had gotten closer despite the whirlwind of his life.
Their connection felt natural, as if they'd known each other for years instead of only a couple of months.
Saumya returned with two glasses of wine, setting one down in front of him.
"Here, you deserve this."
"Cheers to us," he said, raising his glass, and they clinked them together.
They sat down on the couch, chatting and laughing about the match and everything that had happened.
Yashasvi was more animated than usual, clearly enjoying the moment.
He had been through the highs and lows of the tournament, but now, in the comfort of Saumya's company, he felt at peace.
"So, about that surprise," Yashasvi said after a few minutes of casual conversation.
"What is it?"
Saumya smiled mischievously, standing up and walking to her bedroom.
She returned with a small, neatly wrapped box. "Here. I've been waiting to give this to you."
Yashasvi's face lit up as she handed him the box. "What is this? You didn't have to get me anything."
She shook her head. "You deserve it. I'm proud of you, and I wanted to show you how much you mean to me."
He opened the box to reveal a sleek, custom-made watch.
The engraving on the back read: "For the one who always shines, no matter what. From me to you."
Yashasvi was speechless for a moment, his heart swelling with affection.
He looked up at Saumya, his eyes filled with gratitude.
"Saumya... this is... wow, thank you. I don't even know what to say."
She smiled, her eyes softening. "You don't have to say anything. I just wanted you to have something that reminds you of this moment."
He slid the watch onto his wrist, admiring it. "I'll never take it off. I promise."
The moment was perfect, and the two of them sat there for a while, quietly enjoying each other's company.
The noise of the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them in their little bubble of happiness.
Later, as the evening wore on, the conversation turned more personal. Yashasvi reached for her hand, his voice quieter now.
"I've been thinking a lot, you know. About us."
Saumya raised her head, meeting his gaze. "What about us?"
He squeezed her hand gently. "I'm really glad we met, Saumya. I feel like... I feel like I've found something real here. Something I want to hold on to."
Her heart skipped a beat. "Me too, Yashasvi. I'm glad we've been able to spend time together."
Yashasvi smiled softly, his thumb brushing over her hand.
"I know we've been moving fast, but I want you to know that I'm serious about this. About you. About us."
Saumya's smile grew wider as she leaned in to kiss him softly. "I feel the same way."
As their lips met, the outside world seemed to disappear entirely. It was just them—together, after all the chaos of their lives.
No more cricket matches, no more pressures from the outside world. Just two people who had found something worth fighting for.
And in that moment, Yashasvi knew that no matter what the future held, as long as he had Saumya by his side, everything would be alright.
