MENTION OF DEATH/DEAD BODY
"Put your jacket on and let's go!" Chaeryeong whispered while giving Yeji signals with her hands in case Yeji didn't quite hear what she said. The cabin lights were off and all of the girls were already laid in bed, most settled to be asleep. Perfect timing for them to sneak out.
Both girls silently made their way out of the Cabin, hoping they didn't make their leaving noticeable or even worse, obvious. The lights of the camp were still on, but no one seemed to be guarding the area.
Slipping off the boys' cabin, Chaeryeong noticed a small gap. The door wasn't shut tight. First a glance, everyone was sleeping, more like snoring. That wasn't really expected. "Beomgyu," she whispered, noticing his bed was the nearest to the door.
"Beomgyu," she whispered again but when there was no reply, Yeji took lead and whispered, "Son of a bitch, wake up,"
Call it magic, or witchcraft, Beomgyu was quick to wake up. Then Chaeryeong noticed a small packet in his hand. He was eating chocolate.
"What are you girls doing here?" he whispered, wiping off the corner of his mouth.
"Wanna come for a walk?" Chaeryeong asked. Excitement took over Beomgyu's eyes, as he climbed off the bed, and signalled the girls to wait outside, which the girls accepted.
4-5 minutes later, Beomgyu came along with Soobin and Huening Kai. The trio smiling, as they whispered, "No one will find out right?"
Yeji smiled, "No, and well, we are not the only team who is heading outside,"
"Ew, why is the path so musty?" Yuna said as she made exaggerated and disgusted facial expressions, all because she stepped on some wet dirt. "Well it rained this morning so there's your answer." Lia said in a sarcastic tone while rolling her eyes.
The five were heading towards the river, which was one of the most beautiful rivers you could ever think of. The water was clean and shining, colorful and many different types of plants surrounded it making it have a happy and sweet atmosphere at all times, even at night.
When they finally finished their short, but fun walk to the river, they got to admire its beauty. "Here we are, at the camp's famous river!" Taehyun smiled with excitement. Their eyes were shining at its beauty and their mouths were wide open. No wonder people called it a great work of art, the rumors weren't lying.
The teens continued to appreciate the place and atmosphere, until they were interrupted by a group of unfamiliar voices coming from not so away from them.
"Woah, this looks so wonderful." Kai said amazed, it was his turn to have his mouth wide open and his eyes shining like little tiny stars in the night sky.
"This would make a cute Pinterest post." Yeji muttered, she wasn't as outstanded by the place like the others were, which made the other five of them raise an eyebrow.
"Yeji?" Yeonjun said in disbelief as he stared at Yeji with anger and confusion. "Yeonjun?" Yeji had the same reaction as him. But instead of looking angry, she looked like the typical disgusted mean girl in your teenage movie, except that she wasn't mean to anyone, she always acted graceful and fancy, that is what made her so charming.
Yeji and Yeonjun didn't really like each other. Why? Both are from rich and extraordinary families who are famous all around South Korea for their past careers. Both of these two families can't go past each other without showing despise and hatred, Hwang and Choi family have a really dark past with each other, darker than you might wonder.
Even though Yeonjun and Yeji barely knew anything from each other, since they were young they were taught to despise one another. Unfortunately, the image of one another didn't change, and it won't be changing any time soon, at least not if their parents are around.
"Guys I have an idea. What if we appreciate the beauty of the river separately and very far away from each other?" Lia nervously asked. Yeji and Yeonjun continued to stare at each other in disgust and rage.
"Great idea girl that I don't even know the name of! Let's go guys!" Beomgyu nervously agreed while attempting to drag Yeji away from that stare contest, Taehyun did the same with Yeonjun.
"Can y'all stop? You two are making us uncomfortable. Beat and roast each other tomorrow as much as you want, but do it when you both are alone." Ryujin angrily shouted at them, all the members from the friend groups had their eyes glued onto her.
"Let's go guys, before the cabin inspectors come to check on us." Yeji gave in a heavy sigh and closed her eyes for a second while turning her back on the other five.
Yeji and her friend circle were the first one to walk away, mumbling things under their breaths. But when they heard a strange voice, they stopped where they were. They looked around, for five minutes, waiting for the sound to replay. But there was none. The dead leaves on the ground were sweeping off by the air, and you could hear the owls hooting.
"Why are you still here? Having a picnic?" They heard Yeonjun's voice, coming from behind. The other four were standing behind him, and you could see Ryujin eye rolling at Yeonjun's question.
"Shut the fuck up Yeonjun," Soobin said in a commanding tone. "Or what?" Taehyun asked, immediately standing up for his best friend. "Or else-" Beomgyu was about to threaten him, when that strange siren was heard again.
It felt like someone playing an harmonium, but in a low volume. The hoots of the owls grew louder, and the jungle was getting denser. "What's happening?" Kai asked, noticing the sudden change in environment.
"We should get out of here," Yuna said in a queasy voice, clutching on Lia's arm. The others immediately nodded and started walking. But suddenly they gasped, they noticed something dug up in the soil.
A hand. Or more like a skeleton's hand.
The girls immediately exchanged glances with the boys. The boys kneeled on the ground, their hands shaking as they slowly removed the soil. Digging up to see what lied under the soil.
The five girls kept their hands on the boys shoulders, leaning to get a better view. "Oh my goodness," Taehyun said, shocked.
"I-It's n-not what w-we think it is.. Is it?" Chaeryeong said, getting the vibes of a horror movie, a very dark one.
"It is, it is a skeleton," Lia said, holding Ryujin's hand, her breath shaking, her voice not stable.
And then they heard the sound of a flash. Like, a camera flash. It got them by surprise, as they all got back in their senses, looking around. "Guys, what was it?" Ryujin asked, noticing the sudden sound.
"Hello? Is somebody there?" Yeonjun asked, raising his voice.
No reply. "Please reply," Yeji continued.
But there was no reply. "It must be an animal," Lia said, stuttering.
"We need to hide this, add the soil back," Chaeryeong said, hallucinating, her whole body trembling.
And so they did. The boys immediately started adding the soil back, hiding it once again.
One look at their back, it was clear. The skeleton was no longer visible, dug up inside. "Let's go, now!" Kai said as they all walked back to the cabins. They looked around, the cabin inspectors were nowhere to be seen. They are safe.
"I still cannot believe what just happened," Lia confessed, still a bit traumatized about it.
"G-Guys, w-what i-if someone s-saw us. Who-Whoose b-body was that?" Chaeryeong said, her breath hitching, as she felt a sudden sickness in her stomach.
Taehyun kept a hand on her shoulder, "Forget it, tonight didn't happen,"
The others immediately were taken aback by his sudden response, but then Yeji said, "He is right. We didn't see anything. We just went to the river and returned,"
The others nodded, convincing themselves, "Yes. We will forget it. It never happened, we won't tell anyone," Ryujin stated
And so, they all went to their cabins, convincing themselves that the night never happened.
But sadly, it did. And saying it didn't won't change it.
