"A.J.?"
You heard someone shuffling things around in their area. A.J. finally managed to respond. "Red! Lovely to hear your voice again. Sorry for the late response, I am quite busy and will be leaving tomorrow for some business."
You nodded. "I see. Um, A.J. I'd like to make a proposition."
"If it's about killing the traitor then I'm all ears."
"Why don't we just kill him there?" You suggested. "Or punish him there?"
"But that would be postponing your killing of the traitor? Why? Finding the mission too hard for you to accomplish, Red?"
You sighed. "No. I just thought that it would satisfy you to see him being tortured there than me killing him here with no assurance that he is indeed dead."
"I trust you, Red. So if you said you killed him, I will believe it."
"A.J. I lied about your underwear. It was Gary's not yours."
"What the fuck, (Y/n). I'm wearing it right now. Stop kidding around."
"What I mean is, not all assassins say the truth, A.J. You may never know, they say they killed the target but just tortured them and shut them up."
A.J. went quiet for a moment before sighing. "I guess you're right. For now, obey the Handler's orders to you which is...?"
"Find Number Five and bring him back to the Commission. She assigned Hazel and Cha-Cha to kill him while she gave a different one to mine. I guess she never wanted Number Five dead."
"Of course. That's the Handler."
"Just make sure you'll punish him after I brought him there."
"Alright, alright. And were you serious about the underwear?"
"No. It's Mark's underwear."
"(Y/n)!"
You cheekily smiled and ended the call. You turned around and looked at the streets of The City. 'Sorry, A.J. I know I said I didn't care about my past. I tried to ignore it but... all the flashbacks and dreams, I know I have to find out the truth.'
You walked away from the phonebooth and went to the Academy where Five and the rest of his siblings are. You knocked on the door and were greeted by the talking chimpanzee. Pogo narrowed his eyes for a bit. "I believe Master Five is waiting for you?"
"Yup." You nodded as Pogo let you come inside the mansion. When you lifted your hand to put your hood down, Pogo noticed your bracelet wrapped around your wrist. "Where did you get that?"
You looked down at your wrist and shrugged. "I just got it when I was a kid. Never knew who gave it to me." You looked around the place. "So, uh, where's Number Five?"
"Upstairs. I think he's in his room."
You nodded and gave him a small thanks before walking upstairs to find Five. Pogo walked away and went back to the room where all of the footage was. He played the footage and looked closely at the screen and saw the familiar bracelet being worn by the same girl who's with Ben. "It can't be..."
A depressed-looking Klaus found you by the hallway from his room. You stopped in your tracks and found Five inside his room, writing something. Klaus weakly waved at you before walking away. You glanced at Five but followed Klaus. "Hey, you alright?"
"Never been better." Klaus sighed.
"Are you sure? You look like you lost someone in a warβ"
Klaus grabbed your shoulders before sighing shakily and looked down on the ground. "Just... look, I'll be fine. I just want to be alone right now, okay?"
You held his hand and nodded. "Alright."
Klaus patted your head before leaving and wearing his green sleeveless vest. You looked back at his room and marched towards Five who was still writing. "He time traveled, didn't he?"
Five looked up at you. "Oh, you're here. Done talking with the Handler or Carmichael, I assume?"
"Answer the question, Hargreeves."
He sighed before nodding and placing the pen and paper back in the bedside drawer. "He did."
"How? He doesn't have any briefcase unless..." You softly gasped. "He stole Hazel and Cha-Cha's briefcase."
"He thought there was some money he could pawn." Five explained. "Turns out, of course, there was no money and he was trapped in Vietnam War for like a year." Five suddenly thought of an idea and stood up. "Where's your briefcase?"
You cocked an eyebrow. "My what?"
"You have one, I know. I need it."
"You're not getting my briefcase, arsehole."
"Is it because you lost it or you're just selfish?"
"Could be the first one or second one, or both. Either way, it's none of your business."
"So, you did lose it."
"I didn't." You argued before thinking again, biting your inner cheek. "I think?"
Five raised an eyebrow. "You think?"
"Well, you kicked me out of the van... so..."
Five's eyes widened before groaning and slapping his palm against his forehead. "Why would you leave your briefcase in an abandoned van?"
"Alright, don't get too pissy. First of all, the van wasn't abandoned because I took it until you took it and kicked me out." You defended. "The briefcase is probably used. Maybe even damaged or destroyed."
Five ran his fingers through his hair which you saw and ignored the fact that that slight gesture made your heart skip a beat. "I'm surrounded by idiots." Five muttered.
"Oh, please." You rolled your eyes. "You're an idiot yourself too, mate. You decided to team up with an assassin whose mission is to kill you. You do know I could break the deal and kill you right here and right now."
"And you wouldn't do that because every time you do, you fail or just straight up stare at me or save me."
"How dare youβ"
Five shook his head. "The arguing won't get any of us any clues or solutions to our problems." He got out of the room while you followed behind. "And stop it with your British accent, we all know you're (your nationality)."
(08.05.21 edit #1: SPOILER ALERT, I MADE (Y/N) HALF-BRITISH! i know there are british readers who are reading this (which kind of surprises me) and i already put a note about it on a comment but it was flooded so... here ya go pls don't hate me π₯Ίπ€)
You stopped in your tracks before sticking a tongue without him noticing. 'I could be half-British, you kinder shit.'
You and Five arrived at his room where you used to stay for a few hours when you were wounded. You removed your borrowed blazer as Five looked for chalk and grabbed a chair. You sat on his bed and took his toy car before laying down and observing the toy. "I think I saw you."
"Hm?"
"In my dream. You said I remind you of a girl you saved in a robbery. I had the same dream."
Five stood up on his chair and was about to write before pausing. "So, you're saying, you are the girl that I saved?"
"I don't know, you tell me."
"Then you're also the same girl that Ben used to talk to every day?"
You froze for a moment before rolling to the bed to lay your stomach flat on the cushion. "I heard about him. Well, just once actually. So, uh, he's your other brother?"
"Yeah." Five answered as he started writing on the walls.
"Where is he?"
"Dead." Five sighed. "He used to talk to this girl that I saved. She kept on visiting him here unnoticed. Well, at least they thought they could hide."
"Because you knew that we were meeting up?"
"One night, I wanted to talk to Ben about the girl that I saved until I saw her talking to Ben. She didn't know I was there. Neither of them did."
"Were you jealous?"
The boy didn't answer as he continued to write formulas and other math shit. You tilted your head a bit. "You were jealous."
"I wasn't."
"You didn't answer before."
"Because I was focusing on the equation."
You rolled your eyes before laying back down again and played with the toy. "So, I am the girl?"
"I'm still not sure."
"Why?"
"Because you don't have powers."
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion until you sat up and placed the toy car down. "Powers?"
Five turned to you. "The girl has powers. I've seen her showing them to Ben. Ben was amazed while the girl was... well, terrified or upset, I think."
You nodded in understanding as you looked around the room before scrunching your face and pointing your finger at an object you always see with Five. "Ugh, it's still here?"
Five glanced in your direction to spot Delores sitting on a chair by the window. "Of course. Delores is a companion of mine."
"I can't believe you named that fucking thing."
"I didn't name her. That's her name."
You rolled your eyes. 'And they say I'm the one who's more insane than him.' You stood right beside him, looking up at his equations that you didn't even notice that almost covered the wall he was writing on. "Damn, Hargreeves. You're a math wizard or something?"
"I am sorta the smartest person in this family."
"Sure, sure." You sarcastically said. "So what are these for?"
"It's a probability map."
"Of what?"
"Of whose death could save the world."
"What is all this?" You and Five heard a familiar voice behind. You turned around to see Luther entering the room while Five sighed in annoyance.
You gave Luther a small wave while he confusingly waved back. "It's a probability map of whose death could save the world." You answered Luther's question.
"I've narrowed it down to four." Five added.
"Are you saying one of those four people causes the apocalypse?" Luther asked as he walked closer.
"No, I'm saying that their deaths might prevent it."
"Oh." Luther slowly nodded. Five continued to write on his wall, the chalk tapping in the background. Luther leaned closer as he whispered to you. "I'm not following."
Five, who heard Luther, turned around to face Luther. "Time is fickle, Luther. The slightest alteration in events can lead to massively different outcomes in the time continuum."
"The butterfly effect." You said simply as you crossed your arms.
Luther nodded again and you weren't sure if he did understand it or not. Five looked back at his equations. "So all I have to do is find the people with the greatest probability of impacting the timeline, wherever they may be, and kill them."
Five got down from his chair and took out something while Luther walked towards the wall, to see who the four people are. "Milton Greene. So who's he, a terrorist or something?"
Five started listing down on his little notepad as he looked up to the wall again. "I believe he is a gardener."
You raised your eyebrows in surprise. "How the fuck did you even know about that?"
Luther snapped his head at Five, looking unbelievably. "You can't be serious, Five. Wait, this is madness. Youβ"
Five glanced to you before setting the notepad down and taking out something from under his bed. It was a case of a gun. "Where'd you get that?" You asked in surprise.
"In Dad's room. I think he used it to shoot a rhinoceros."
"Jesus." You gasped softly before nodding. "Your Dad's pretty hardcore. Poor rhino, though. Have to be a victim of your father's cruel deeds."
"Yeah, the rhino deserved to live." Five sighed. You smiled a bit to see Five being soft around animals. It was weird seeing him with his guard down and you not chasing him around to kill him.
He took out the gun which was a sniper gun. "It's similar to the model I used at work. Nice shoulder fit and highly reliable."
"Had the same gun too." You muttered so Luther wouldn't hear.
"But you can't- this guy, Milton, is just an innocent man." Luther defended.
"It's basic math." Five said. "His death could potentially save the lives of billions. If I did nothing, he'd be dead in four days anyway. The apocalypse won't spare anyone."
"We don't do this kind of thing."
"We are not doing anything. I am."
"I can't let you go and kill innocent people. No matter how many lives you'll save."
"Well, good luck stopping me." Five walked towards the door with the sniper in his arms while you watched from a corner watching Five and Luther.
Luther grabbed Delores' neck and threatened Five to drop her outside. Five instantly turned around and aimed the gun at him. You let out an "ooh," before smiling and leaning against the wall. "This is interesting."
"Put. Her. Down." Five angrily threatened.
Ah, yes, you can see the murder in his eyes. He would do anything to keep the doll safe. 'Yeah, Luther, throw the doll.'
"Put the gun down," Luther said. "You're not killing anyone. I know she's important to you, so don't make me do this. It's either her or the gun. You decide."
When Five didn't set the gun down but didn't shoot either, Luther let go of the mannequin which Five immediately abandoned the gun to save his beloved doll. Five caught it before setting it on his lap, looking at it affectionately.
You rest your hands on your hips. "Well, that was fun. Are you done, boys? I can watch that all day." When the two men remained silent, you continued. "This has been fun but it looks like you still have family issues and problems to solve and face. Ta-ta!"
"Hey." Five set the doll down and stood up. "No, don't leave. We'll solve this in a peaceful way. There is one way but it's just about impossible... I think."
He looked at you as he approached you making you step back a bit in surprise. "And I will help you, (Y/n), with your past if you promise to help you with mine, okay?

Sorry for the late update. I had no motivation to publish anything and was too busy with school works. I was also craving sleep.
(08.08.21 edit #1: there were face reveal pictures of me that I posted in this very chapter but I have to delete them to protect myself because of some websites (the mirror sites of Wattpad). But I won't be deleting my face reveal on Tom Holland One-shots since it's kinda blurry because of the filter so if you still want to see my face, you can check the very last chapter "short letter" of that book π€)
