𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧:
Erebus was one of the first beings to exist and in Hesoid's Theogony, he was the offspring of Chaos, alongside Nyx. His also means darkness or gloom, referring to that of the Underworld.

In some accounts, the name "Erebus" was often used to refer either to the darkness of the Underworld, the Underworld itself, or to the subterranean region through which souls of the dead travel to reach Hades, and it is sometimes used synonymously with Tartarus or Hades.

With Nyx, he fathered Aether and Hemera (Day).
