𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼! 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲. 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝘂𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲?
Hii! I'm Ash. I'm a reviewer, judge and writer for the Mellonia community. I've been judging in several awards for a long time before I joined the Mellonia community so I have a lot of experience judging. I've also judged for a couple of awards that the Mellonia community has hosted too.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀?
I really like to do it. It's a fun job. And judging others' works also helps the contestants and helps you to become a better writer and so it's benefiting both ways:))

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲? 𝗜𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸?
Oh, I'm aware it's not an easy task. It's very stressful sometimes and does take a lot of time. That's why one has to be really disciplined and dedicated to be one.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻𝗲?
I look for the writing style, descriptions, characters, mechanics and just how intriguing and enjoyable the story is.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘀? 𝗛𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
No actually. No one has ever been rude to me. I try my best to be very nice especially when giving a review about a not-so-perfect work. But if they are rude to me I will simply tell them not to feel bad and that there's always room for improvement but if they keep being rude, I simply ignore them.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂?
Responsibly, discipline, good time management, kindness, they must be a good writer themselves or at least know what it takes.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗷𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴?
At first it's not easy. It's weird but as you progress it gets better and you'll probably like it haha. Just remember that the writer of the book or creator of the work is a human being and they're probably insecure about the writing themselves so they should remember to be kind and considerate but don't be a people pleaser. If something isn't good, say it. And be efficient. If you have work to do, do it. And remember to learn from others as no one is perfect.

𝗪𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴?
Write for yourself first. Even if you're horrible, write. Write something and keep writing. If someone says it's bad, accept it, learn from your mistakes and try again. Be yourself when writing. Be creative and don't forget to describe vividly. Remember to have a good description, not much but enough, create likeable and relatable characters because they're very important, have good mechanics, try to leave questions in readers' heads and have fun writing!
