PSYCHOLOGY.. Psychology is the study of the human mind along with its functions, and psychologists are actively involved in studying and understanding mental processes. Psychology subject matter includes the study of humans and their mental processes which includes; human thoughts, feelings and motives. Psychology can be divided into our main areas, that is, clinical psychology which focuses on counselling for mental and behavioural health, cognitive psychology which is the study of mental processes, behavioural psychology that handles understanding behaviours through different kinds of conditioningโ€”and finally, biopsychology that deals with the research of the brain, behaviour, and evolution.

Psychology embraces all aspects of human experience. Its purpose is to benefit society and enhance our lives.

The history of psychology can be traced to a German pioneer in 1879.... Wilhem Wundt. He was a German psychologist who established the very first psychology experimental lab in Leipzig, Germany. The establishment of the lab is regarded as the formal establishment of psychology as a seperate field.

Wilhelm is regarded as the pioneer of psychology because he is the very first person to refer to himself as a psychologist. He also introduced the earliest intellectual school of thought, including structuralism, regarded as the very first school of thought established by him. He is the father of psychology, even when there were others like Hermann von Helmholtz, Gustav Fechner, and Ernst Weber, who also involved themselves in early psychology research. Wilhem formed the worldโ€™s first experimental psychology lab and is noted as the official start of psychology as a seperated and distinct science. By establishing a lab that utilizes scientific methods to study human mind and behaviour, Wilhem derived psychology from philosophy and biology, turning it into a unique field of study.

In addition to making psychology a field of its own, Wilhem had a number of students who studied and went on to become influential psychologists. He is also considered a pioneer in psychology because of focusing on developing experimental strategies and techniques that would systemically help study human thought and behaviour. There are other notable psychologists, but Wilhem remains The Father Of Psychologists.
