๐ฌ๐ข๐ฑ. bye bye, mrs. dodds
"Are we ready?" Hecate asked.
Seeing that everyone nodded, she turned on the screen. "Then let's continue."
"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood."
Percy froze upon hearing his voice on the screen, and he wasn't the only one; all the demigods, recognizing the voice of the son of Poseidon, turned to look at him intently.
"Is Percy going to narrate?" Nico asked Hecate.
"It won't always be him, but what we're going to see is practically about him, so yes, I would expect him to be the one narrating," the goddess replied, causing Percy to shift uncomfortably.
"Being a half-blood is dangerous. It's scary. Most of the time, it gets you killed in painful, nasty ways."
"It happens to the best of us," said Thalia with a frosty tone as she glared at her father and the god of the underworld.
"You died?" Kol asked with curiosity. Thalia nodded in response, and he let out an amused sound. "And why are you here then?"
"Kol!" Davina and Rebekah scolded.
"You can't ask those things, you idiot," Rebekah said, giving the original a slap on the back of the head.
Thalia let out a small laugh and shook her head. "It's okay, I've already gotten over it."
"My name is Percy Jackson."
Annabeth and Kiara laughed mockingly.
"Wasn't it Peter Johnson?" Grover asked with a laugh, glancing sideways at Dionysus, who shot him a disapproving look but couldn't help a small smile from escaping.
"And you are about to see things that will be impossible to explain but are very real and somewhat eerie. But nothing is more ominous than a Kiara who hasn't had breakfast yet."
The demigods laughed heartily, with some nodding in agreement after having experienced Kiara in that state.
"One more time, sharkbait, and you're going to end up crying to your daddy," Kiara threatened, giving Poseidon's son a fierce look.
"bring in on, little wolf," Percy mocked, using the nickname that Luke had called her before.
"I swear by the gods, if that stupid girl bothers you again, I'm going to stab her with this fork where the sun doesn't shine," Kiara murmured, gripping the fork tightly as she glared in the direction the redhead had gone.
"I don't think you want to get expelled again," Grover said in a pitiful tone as he wiped off the pieces of sandwich that Nancy Bobofit had thrown at him.
"How dare that bitch?" Thalia said, glaring at the screen with fury. And she was not the only one, as everyone, including the gods, seemed to want to exterminate the mortal who had dared to treat the satyr in that way.
"It's fine, Thalia," Grover whispered, trying to calm her down.
Thalia shook her head but remained silent.
The three began to follow the group of students alongside Mr. Brunner, who was in a wheelchair, as he guided them through the gallery.
"Chiron went for you?" Thalia asked with curiosity.
"He did," answered Percy, nodding his head.
"Will you shut up?" Percy said to Nancy after she snickered at a naked guy on the stele. He had tried to keep it from coming out so loudly, but he failed.
The group of students burst into giggles, prompting the teacher to intervene.
"Mr. Jackson," he said, "did you have a comment?"
"Shouldn't he ask that stupid girl who was mocking?" Annabeth asked angrily.
"I think Nancy has something to say, Professor," Kiara interjected, glaring hatefully at the mortal, who visibly swallowed as everyone's eyes turned to her.
"They think almost the same," Connor mocked.
Both demigoddesses rolled their eyes upon hearing the son of Hermes.
But Brunner ignored her and kept looking at Percy. The teacher pointed to one of the images on the stele.
"Perhaps you'll tell us what this picture represents?"
The children of Kronos let out a sound of disgust.
"It's always that one," Demeter complained, turning her gaze away from the screen along with her sisters.
Percy directed his gaze to the relief and let out a sigh of relief, recognizing it.
"That's Kronos eating his kids, right?" he replied, looking at Kiara, who nodded, smiling slightly.
Gods and demigods tensed at the mention of the titan's name, while some turned to look at Luke, who had his gaze fixed on the screen without blinking.
"Well... Kronos was the king god, and..."
"God?" Zeus shouted with indignation, looking at his brother's son.
"Well, sorry for making a mistake," Percy said with hatred directed at the king of the gods.
"Let it go, brother. At that moment, he didn't even know who he was," the sweet voice of Hestia calmed the god, but that didn't stop him from continuing to look at Percy with hatred, who did not back down and kept staring at him in the same way.
"God?" Brunner asked.
"Titan," Percy said, correcting himself. "And... he didn't trust his kids, who were the gods. So, um, Kronos ate them, right?" He glanced at Kiara discreetly, seeking approval, to which she nodded. "But his wife hid baby Zeus and gave Kronos a rock to eat instead. And later, when Zeus grew up, he tricked his dad, Kronos, into barfing up his brothers and sisters..."
"Happy?" Percy murmured under his breath to his uncle, who nodded slowly, not before giving him a death glare.
"Eww!" said a girl behind Percy.
Kiara, who was next to the girl, gave her a nasty look and seemed like she wanted to strangle her, but Grover stopped her.
"You really were a menace at that school," Grover complained.
"I lasted a long time without ripping their throats out," Kiara whispered with anger.
"And so there was this big fight between the gods and the Titans," Percy continued, "and the gods won."
All the gods in the room turned to look at the demigod with perplexity and confusion.
"You summarized a ten-year war to end with 'and the gods won,'" Athena whispered, looking on in confusion as to whether Poseidon's son was an experiment or a piece of seaweed.
"It's not like he was going to start narrating every detail about the war either," Kiara said, bringing the topic to a close.
"What you learn from me is vitally important," the professor said to Percy. "I will accept only the best from you, Percy Jackson."
Percy clenched his fists, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he just nodded and followed Grover. The demigod stayed behind, watching where her friend was going. As he watched him disappear, he turned to the professor with a weary look.
"You are being too harsh on him, Chiron," said Kiara, scolding the centaur.
Hayley and Rebekah nodded in agreement with their niece's words, looking at the demigod with pity.
"I just want him to be prepared," said the centaur firmly. "We don't know when the moment will come for him to face the truth."
Kiara looked at him angrily. "That won't be necessary, he has me to protect him."
"Awwww," said Percy, looking affectionately at Kiara, who rolled her eyes.
"Forget it, next time I'll let some monster eat you," threatened Apollo's daughter with a smile.
Chiron watched her carefully and let out a defeated sigh. "You won't always be there to protect him, Kiara," he said, before going down the same path as Percy.
Kiara stopped smiling and looked down, unaware that her parents and Luke were watching her with concern.
She knew that Chiron was right, and the evidence was in the future.
Percy, Grover, and Kiara were sitting on the edge of a fountain, away from the others.
"Detention?" Grover asked Percy.
"They're not going to send him to detention just for not trying harder, Grov," Kiara replied for Percy, handing him an apple.
Percy ignored them, watching the stream of taxis going down Fifth Avenue with a hopeless gaze.
"What was wrong with you?" Annabeth asked with concern.
"Nothing. I just missed my mom," Percy said with a little smile.
"Well, look who's here," Nancy appeared, smiling with her crooked teeth.
Kiara lifted her gaze, not bothered by the sun shining in her eyes.
"Do you have a problem, Weasley?" Kiara asked as she stood up. The height difference between them was quite significant, but that didn't stop Nancy from pushing her.
"Your face is my problem, Mikaelson," she replied, laughing with her friends.
"Please tell me that you kicked her ass," Clarisse pleaded with Kiara.
She smiled and pointed to the screen.
The eyes of the demigoddess blinked gold as she threateningly approached the mortal, who flew away before she could reach her.
"What?" said Alicia. "But you didn't even whisper a spell."
"Because it wasn't me who pushed her," Kiara smiled, looking at Percy.
Everything happened too quickly; one second, Percy was sitting, watching Kiara and Nancy confront each other, and the next, he was in front of the fountain, with Nancy inside it.
"Ohh," everyone said at once.
"Percy pushed me!" shouted Nancy with hatred, as Mrs. Dodds materialized in front of her.
"What the hell...?" Jason murmured, staring in astonishment at the screen.
"A monster?" Reyna asked curiously to the two demigods and the satyr.
Grover nodded several times.
"Wasn't the Minotaur your first monster?" Clarisse said with a calculating look.
"Nope," Percy replied.
Mrs. Dodds had a triumphant fire in her eyes as she looked at Percy, as if he had finally done what she had been waiting for all semester.
Kiara and Grover looked at each other alarmed, moving closer to Percy, but he was lost in thought, staring at the teacher.
"Oh no," murmured Hestia, covering her eyes.
Hera and Demeter looked at her warmly, with small smiles planted on their faces.
"Now, honey..."
"I know," Percy grumbled. "A month erasing workbooks."
"Nooo," the Stolls complained. "You can never guess your punishments, Jackson."
Hermes simply smiled at the antics of his children.
"Come with me," the woman commanded, giving a triumphant look to Apollo's daughter.
"Wait!" Grover intervened. "It was me. I pushed her."
"A brave satyr," murmured Poseidon with approval.
Grover heard it and his cheeks turned red as he chewed on the can that Kiara had passed to him at some point.
"I don't think so, Mr. Underwood," she said.
"But..."
"You-will-stay-here," Mrs. Dodds barked with disdain.
Grover looked at Percy with desperation, to which he shook his head with a smile, trying to reassure him.
"Honey," said the teacher. "Now."
Percy moved ahead, giving Nancy his deluxe I'll-kill-you-later stare.
"Man, I felt chills," Luke said with a mocking smile.
Percy shot him a withering glance, and the situation worsened when some laughter was heard around him. However, everyone fell silent when Percy gave them the same look he had given Nancy.
Luke snorted and shook his head upon seeing the fear in the other demigods.
Before Mrs. Dodds could follow Percy, a hand stopped her, forcing her to turn and see who had dared to touch her.
"If you kill him, I swear on my father's name, you will regret it for all eternity, Alecto," the demigoddess threatened before disappearing along with Grover.
"She hates you both," Hades mocked. "You and that son of my brother."
"I guess she has her reasons," Kiara replied, at the same time Percy said, "Tell her to learn how to lose."
The woman was at the entrance of the museum, at the top of the staircase, urging Percy on with gestures of impatience.
Percy glanced between the door behind him and Mrs. Dodds, but ultimately shrugged and followed her.
"I should have followed my instincts," whispered the son of Poseidon in defeat.
"You've been giving us trouble, honey," said the lady with a twisted smile.
Percy opted for the safe choice and decided to respond politely.
"Yes, ma'am."
And once again, the room was filled with the laughter of demigods, even some gods.
"So you're the most disrespectful little shit to ever exist when it comes to the gods, but you treat a 'teacher' with respect?" Henrik asked with a laugh, ignoring the smacks both of his parents gave him for the bad word he used.
Percy nodded with a fake smile, but then quickly turned to his best friend.
"How do you know about that?" Percy asked, silencing the others.
Henrik glanced discreetly at Luke, who hid his mischievous laughter in Kiara's hair.
"I'll tell you later," said the original.
"Did you really think you would get away with it?" Mrs. Dodds said. The look in her eyes was beyond mad. It was evil.
Percy looked at her nervously.
"I'llโI'll try harder, ma'am."
His words were silenced by a thunder that shook the building.
"Such a drama queen," Kiara mocked, letting out a tired sigh.
Zeus looked at her with an offended expression.
"Your time is up," the teacher hissed through clenched teeth.
Her eyes began to glow like barbecue coals. Her fingers stretched, turning into talons. Her jacket melted into large, leathery wings. Percy looked at her in astonishment.
"What the hell is that?" Damon asked in amazement.
The demigods were ready to respond when someone stepped in ahead of them.
"It's a fury," Hades replied to him. "They usually serve me."
Damon looked at him and nodded slowly. When he saw that no one was paying attention to him anymore and the god had turned away, he turned to Elena.
"First Cade and now Hades. It's as if I were collecting the devil from every mythology," said the vampire with a smile.
Elena shook her head, looking hopeless.
Mr. Bruner suddenly appeared and threw a pen at Percy.
"What ho, Percy!" he shouted.
Mrs. Dodds lunged at Percy. With a groan, he dodged it, catching the pen that instantly turned into a sword.
"Good, now he has something to defend himself with," Poseidon whispered, looking at the screen with concern. Amphitrite, seeing the state her husband was in, took his hand, squeezing it tightly as a sign of support.
Percy held the sword, trembling, causing it to almost slip from his hands.
"Die, honey!" roared the fury, flying directly towards him.
"How are you still alive?" asked the goddess Eris with curiosity.
"By the power of friendship," said Percy and Kiara at the same time. They stared at each other intently and then burst out laughing.
Apollo shook his head, accustomed to the nonsense of the pair of friends.
Percy moved the sword as if he had been born with it in his hand. The metal blade hit the shoulder of the thing directly and passed through her body as if she were made of water. Hissss!
"Now I understand how you were able to beat Luke," Chris murmured in astonishment, just like most of the demigods.
Hermes quickly turned to his son.
"He beat you?" he asked Luke with curiosity.
Kiara scoffed and nodded her head, responding to Hermes.
Thalia and Annabeth exchanged glances as they saw how Luke, instead of looking offended, appeared proud that Percy had beaten him in a fight.
"I hope Mrs. Kerr whipped your butt," said Nancy Bobofit as soon as she saw Percy come out of the gallery.
"Who?" Frank asked, confused.
"Who?" Percy echoed.
Percy smiled at the son of Mars, who blushed to his ears and quickly looked away from the son of Poseidon.
"Our teacher. Duh!" said the girl, rolling her eyes and walking away with her friends.
Percy asked Grover and Kiara about Mrs. Dodds. Both looked at him with confusion.
"Who?" Grover asked, but he hesitated for a moment, earning a furrowed brow from Percy. His gaze then traveled towards Kiara, who avoided looking him in the eyes and seemed to want to distance herself from them.
"It was so easy for me to realize they were lying when Kiara couldn't even look me in the eye," Percy said, mocking his friends.
"Well, excuse me for being cursed to never be able to lie," Kiara muttered, giving Apollo a dirty look as he raised his hands in a gesture of peace.
"Guilty," said the god with a smile.
Percy approached Mr. Brunner anxiously; he looked up, somewhat distracted.
"Ah, that would be my pen," said the professor. "Please bring your own writing utensil in the future, Mr. Jackson."
Percy gave him a confused look.
"Sir," he said, "where is Mrs. Dodds?"
"Cursing you from the fields of punishment," Hades whispered, but everyone could hear it and they chuckled softly.
The man furrowed his brow and leaned forward, with a gesture of slight concern.
"Percy, there is no Mrs. Dodds on this trip," the teacher replied. "As far as I know, there has never been any Mrs. Dodds at Yancy Academy. Are you feeling all right?"
"Do you want to see another one or shall we continue later?" Hecate asked, mostly to the demigods.
"Nah, we want more," some responded, to which the goddess nodded and began the next episode.
We finally started the books!!
I thought it would be difficult to rewrite Percy's POV in the books into third person, but it wasn't that hard, and finding a PDF of "The Lightning Thief" made everything easier cuz I would never finish if I read the physical books and then rewrote them here.
Just wanted to clarify that if you see any errors, please point them out because English isn't my first language. Even though I'm using some help from a translator, it might still mess up some parts and even change everyone's pronouns, which is really annoying.
I apologize if I skip some scenes in this and future chapters, but I hope you have some idea of how difficult it is to summarize 7-8 pages of the book into a single chapter.
Anyway, I hope you like it, and plsss comment <3
