The summer solstice was about to begin. With the council already gathered, Zeus was ready to start when a crack opened in the middle of the hall.
The king of the gods raised his newly recovered lightning bolt, prepared to eliminate whoever dared to interrupt such an important meeting. However, he was stopped by his son Apollo, the god of the sun.
"Wait, Father, I know him," Apollo said, approaching the newcomer, who gave him a weak smile.
Apollo observed them with curiosity, both the newcomer and the man lying next to his lover. Turning around, he found eleven pairs of eyes staring at them intently. Well, one pair of those eyes was more focused on the demigod behind him.
"What is the meaning of this, Phoebus?" Zeus asked, giving his son an exasperated look. "Give me a reason why I shouldn't eliminate your lover and his companion."
Hermes turned alarmed upon hearing his father's words, for the one accompanying Apollo's lover was none other than his son, Luke, who found the ceiling of the throne room quite interesting.
Meanwhile, the other Olympians watched the scene before them with curiosity and amusement.
Apollo took a deep breath, unsure of what words to choose to avoid being attacked by his father, but it wasn't necessary to say anything when he heard his lover's voice.
"If I may speak, Lord Zeus," said Klaus with a smile. Not really caring about the god's permission, he continued, "We have been sent with a message from the Moirai."
"A message from the Moirai, you say, mortal?" Poseidon spoke, looking at the newcomer with curiosity. He felt like he had seen that face before.
Artemis let out a low snort upon hearing her uncle call her brother-in-law mortal. She knew better than anyone that he was anything but mortal.
"With all due respect, Lord Poseidon. I am not mortal at all," Klaus's eye twitched at being called mortal, but he tried to remain calm as he didn't want to cause a scene so soon.
"Oh, really? What are you then?" asked the god of the sea.
"Actually, that is not important right now," said Klaus. "As I mentioned before, we are here on behalf of the Moirai."
Klaus was just about to proceed with his message from the Moirai when the room's temperature suddenly shifted. This caused the gods to fidget uneasily on their thrones, as they were well aware of who was about to make an entrance.
"Greetings, Olympians," Clotho announced, her sisters beside her, each holding a long black thread.
Klaus sighed deeply, drawing their attention.
"I was just about to explain why we're here. Couldn't you wait a bit longer?" he asked, glaring at them.
"You always love to make a scene, Niklaus. But we have no time for that, and you know it," Lachesis replied sternly.
Klaus muttered a small "boring" before moving away with Luke, like scolded children.
The gods were stunned. A mere demigod had spoken so disrespectfully to the weavers of fate and emerged unscathed. Their curiosity about Apollo's lover grew, especially Athena's.
The Moirai whispered in ancient Greek, piquing the gods' interest.
A new portal opened in the hall, revealing two groups who seemed mortal at first glance.
Klaus, recognizing his family and the Mystic Falls folks, quickly approached them. They looked at him with surprise, excitement, and confusion.
"Nik, you're here!" Rebekah exclaimed, jumping to hug him.
Meanwhile, the Mystic Falls gang, who didn't care at all about Klaus, gazed at the throne room in awe, which quickly turned to horror and shock when their eyes landed on the giant figures seated on the thrones.
Klaus, noticing this, quickly distanced himself from his family, causing them to also notice the gods and enter a state of shock.
"Ah, yes. There's a lot to explain to you," said Klaus with a tired sigh, already knowing that the conversation he was about to have with his family and the others wouldn't be easy at all.
With a single sideways glance at the gods and the Moirai, he pushed them toward the exit of the throne room, with the gods' eyes following them.
Once they disappeared, chaos quickly ensued.
"What are those mortals doing here?" shouted Zeus, looking angry and making the lights flicker.
Ares and Apollo started yelling at each other, all because Ares had suggested they should kill Apollo's boyfriend for entering Olympus without permission, which angered Apollo. Artemis tried to calm her twin, telling him to ignore Ares, but she ended up being the one ignored.
Zeus was about to speak, but Atropos raised her hand, signaling that she wasn't finished yet.
"Your children have suffered countless losses and fought two wars, with a third already beginning to brew in the future, and it's all thanks to you," she finished, looking at them furiously, remembering what those foolish gods had caused.
She clearly ignored the part where it was more her and her sisters' fault.
The gods looked at each other, already knowing that it was probably Zeus's fault, who showed no sign of caring about what Atropos had said.
Hera stood up from her throne, taking on a human size and approaching the old women.
"That still does not explain why those mortals are here," she said, making a grimace of disgust. This caused her older sister, Hestia, to look at her with reproach and disappointment.
The sisters smiled, looking at the queen of the gods with mockery.
"They are here because we decided so," they said all together, dropping their chilling smiles. "So do not question us anymore, Queen Hera."
Hera, deciding to be smart, closed her mouth and sat back down next to her husband, who didn't even look at her, as usual.
The doors suddenly opened, welcoming Klaus, his family, and the others back. Knowing what they were facing, they looked less horrified.
"Did you explain everything to them, I suppose?" asked Lachesis to the hybrid, who nodded, indicating that he did.
"There is more to explain, but since we do not have enough time, you will find out later. It is time to bring in the demigods," they said again in unison, which was starting to disturb everyone.
The mention of the demigods caught everyone's attention, even Hephaestus, who hadn't participated yet.
"The demigods?" asked Apollo, ignoring how his brothers- and sisters-in-law began to whisper among themselves after seeing him like that.
And it wasn't that it bothered him, but as the god of prophecy, he felt that something strange was happening, and the presence of his boyfriend and the others simply seemed too suspicious.
"That is right, darling. The demigods. The reason we are here is for and only for them," said Clotho, looking at the sun god, or well, former god.
Apollo looked at her strangely upon hearing her call him 'darling,' but his attention was diverted by a small mocking laugh from his beloved boyfriend.
"Let's not waste any more time then," said Poseidon, joining the conversation and looking unusually enthusiastic about the idea of the demigods coming to them.
The Fates gave him a dazzling smile and then looked at the empty space in the corner of the room, where a loud buzzing noise began to be heard, and then a breach opened again.
From it emerged dozens of demigods, both Greek and Roman, with the goddess Hecate commanding them.
Upon reaching the gods, the Romans knelt before them while the Greeks simply nodded in respect.
The gods looked somewhat alarmed to notice that the Greeks and Romans were gathered together, but seeing that they hadn't started fighting, they calmed down and nodded to the Romans, giving them permission to stand up.
"Welcome, great heroes," exclaimed the Fates, smiling at the boys and girls, who looked at them blankly, with clear fear on their faces, but nodding slowly. "We trust that Hecate has explained to you the reason you are here. And more importantly, the rules."
Someone pushed a particular demigod to the front, using them to represent the group.
"Fuck off," Percy whispered through clenched teeth to Clarisse, who gave him a mocking smile. Percy then turned to the Fates. "Uh, yeah. She already explained it to us, although I still don't understand anything, but..." He stopped talking when he felt someone hit him from behind. Turning around, he saw it was Annabeth, signaling him to be quiet.
This caused the two of them to start bickering, nothing serious, but enough to draw everyone's attention.
"Perseus, my son," Poseidon's deep voice filled the room, which helped get Percy's attention. He quickly turned around like the exorcist upon hearing his father's voice.
"Uh, yes?" said the demigod, looking for where his father's voice was coming from. When he found him, he smiled.
"Oh, hey, Dad," he greeted, waving his hand so innocently that Hestia burst out laughing.
Her siblings and nephews turned to look at her, causing the goddess to blush, but the smile on her face never faded.
Noticing that Poseidon spoke to his son and Zeus couldn't say anything, some gods like Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, and Demeter decided to take their human forms and approach their children. This caused the other gods to do the same, and suddenly all the demigods in the room had huge smiles on their faces. Hestia couldn't be happier seeing the hearth's flame stronger than ever.
The Fates, noticing this, exchanged glances with Hecate and Klaus, who had approached upon the goddess's arrival. As they exchanged looks, they thought that fixing the future would be easier than it seemed if the gods continued to act in this surprising manner.
Meanwhile, Apollo was surrounded by his children, with a huge smile on his face that faded when he didn't see Kiara among them. He looked towards his daughter's family, thinking he would find her there, but she wasn't there either.
"Where is Kiara?" asked the god, earning immediate silence. Everyone turned to look at each other, searching for the demigoddess daughter of the sun, but they couldn't find her.
"Oh, yeah," Percy said. "She wasn't there when Lady Hecate gathered us."
When Percy mentioned the goddess, all eyes turned to her, and she let out a loud sigh before looking at Klaus. He glanced towards the Fates and noticed they were heading for the exit, which made him jump up and quickly approach them.
"And where do you think you're going?" asked the hybrid, looking at the three sisters.
The old women had the audacity to look embarrassed at being caught fleeing.
"Our work here is done. Your mother knows what to do next," said Clotho, looking disdainfully at Mikaelson.
Hecate approached and stood next to Klaus, with everyone's attentive gaze in the room on them.
"I thought it was your job to bring Kiara," said the goddess of magic.
The old women grimaced, looking at each other, trying to figure out what to say.
"Darling, you do not need us for that," said Lachesis, using a sweet tone, trying to charm the goddess.
Klaus, noticing this, smiled mockingly.
"You're scared, aren't you?"
Atropos nearly snapped her neck, like Percy did earlier, turning to the hybrid with a death glare.
"We see no reason to be scared," they said in unison.
But Klaus knew those three old ladies like the back of his hand, and ever since they went to look for him asking for his help to change fate, he knew something was wrong with his daughter, and he had no shortage of evidence to say that those three brutes were to blame.
"Then, if you're not afraid, I see no reason why you three can't bring my granddaughter," said Hecate, with a smile escaping her lips.
They knew their manipulation had worked when the eyes of the three turned black as an empty well. Discreetly, the goddess looked at her son, who gave her a big smile.
Hecate and Klaus: I
Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos: O
"Fine, but we are going to need the little thief," the three said, directing their gazes at Luke, who looked nervous.
Ignoring the glares from his former friends, he made his way through everyone until he reached Klaus, Hecate, and the Moirai.
"You don't have to go if you don't want to, Luke," said Klaus, earning a raised eyebrow from his mother. He wisely ignored it while looking with pity at the demigod beside him.
"I'll be fine, don't worry, Nik," said the demigod, whispering the last words so only Klaus could hear, while giving him a small smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Stop the drama, it's not like he's going to war," said Atropos mockingly. "You know what? You can come too, Niklaus," she added, a malicious smile forming on her lips. "And bring your sunshine too. The more of you she sees, the better."
Apollo, hearing his name mentioned, stopped talking to his daughters and turned his gaze towards his boyfriend. Klaus motioned for him to come over.
"Where exactly are we going?" asked the god, arriving as quickly as the sun on summer days.
He earned a nervous look from the Moirai, which was quickly replaced by a bored one that, if Luke hadn't been paying attention, he wouldn't have noticed.
"You'll see it soon, sunshine," said Lachesis before disappearing with the three mentioned and her sisters.
Everyone stayed looking at each other, which quickly became awkward, so some started moving around the room, mostly the Romans who had never been to Olympus.
"And... now what?" asked Annabeth, earning a stressed look from Hecate.
The goddess sighed in resignation, summoning her own throne and ignoring Zeus's disagreeing grunt.
"Now, child," she said, "we wait."
Hestia, upon hearing her, decided she wouldn't make the demigods' stay unpleasant, so she summoned comfortable furniture for them. The demigods, seeing this, their eyes lit up and they ran to sit down, giving the goddess a grateful look.
They waited for what felt like hours, and they were beginning to get bored and annoyed, especially the Olympians.
"Why are they taking so long to bring Apollo's brat?" asked Ares, annoyed by the long wait, a sentiment echoed by his father and his children.
Most of them thought the same but decided to remain quiet.
"You have no idea," said Hecate, standing up and pulling a piece of paper out of nowhere. "Hermes, darling, can you come here for a moment?"
Hermes, upon hearing her, approached carefully, looking at her questioningly.
Hecate handed him the paper. "I need you to call everyone on this list to come," said the goddess. Hermes took the paper and looked at it curiously; his eyes widened when he saw who was on it.
"I don't think it's a good idea to have Apollo and Eros in the same room for so long, if I may say so," said the god, looking at her as if she were crazy.
Hecate knew that better than anyone, but it wasn't her fault. "Just bring him; I'll handle your brother," said the goddess, watching as Hermes sighed and then disappeared from sight.
The mention of Eros caught Aphrodite's attention.
"For what reasons do you need my son here?"
Hecate turned her gaze to her and smiled, showing her the reason.
"I see," Aphrodite said, nodding. "Apollo would not be happy about this."
Artemis kept looking at Hecate with curiosity. The mention of Eros and his future arrival unsettled her, as she knew better than anyone that her brother went crazy every time he saw him.
She just hoped nothing would descend into chaos, especially with the demigods present.
Hecate was about to respond to Aphrodite when Apollo, Klaus, and Luke reappeared in the room, with Kiara in the middle of them, holding the hand of Hermes' son.
The demigoddess made her way between them, looking around the room carefully. Her emotions shifted from anger to sadness, and finally to happiness.
"You didn't lie," said Kiara, looking at her parents with eyes shining with tears.
"We wouldn't dare," they said simultaneously, giving Kiara a beautiful smile that made her close her eyes with sadness.
Seeing her parents together again was starting to be too much for her.
When she opened her eyes again, she noticed that everyone in the room was looking at her, probably judging her. She knew she had changed over time and at that moment she looked terrible, with red eyes and dark circles under them. But she didn't care, not when she saw the people she loved the most alive again.
Her gaze settled on a short demigod with black hair and the brightest and most beautiful brown eyes she had ever seen. Her hand slipped away from Luke's and moved to her mouth as she trembled.
"Niccolo," she said, with tears streaming down her cheeks.
Nico stopped playing with his Mythomagic cards and looked around for the source of the voice. When he realized it was his Kiara, he tossed the cards into Bianca's lap and dashed towards her.
"Kiara!" shouted the son of Hades as he reached her. She was already on her knees with open arms, waiting for him.
Nico embraced her tightly, a wide smile spreading across his face as Kiara squeezed him hard. He didn't mind at all, since he cherished Kiara's hugs.
Kiara lifted her head from the boy's neck, gently cupping his face with both hands before pressing their foreheads together. With a smile on her face, she kissed his cheeks.
"I'm so sorry, piccolo, I won't leave you alone again," Kiara said, her voice choked with a sob. "I swear it on the Styx."
The thunder rumbled, signaling that the oath was accepted, but the demigoddess didn't care, more focused on hugging her sweet boy.
Kiara remained in her embrace with Nico, ignoring the commotion around her.
Hecate, knowing the reason for her granddaughter's lack of reaction, decided to draw attention away from her.
"Well, now that Kiara is here, we only need the other gods and we'll be ready to start," said the goddess, looking at the king of the gods.
Zeus nodded, looking bored.
Kiara finally moved away from Nico, turning to look at the goddess with curiosity.
"Which other gods are you referring to?" asked Kiara, raising her hand to wipe away her tears, revealing some bright celestial bronze chains in the shape of stars embedded in her skin. Everyone gasped when they noticed the blood dripping from her wounds.
Ichor.
"Your blood..." Zeus whispered, his shock quietly turning into happiness. "I suppose in the future you finally accepted your destiny," said the god, looking at his granddaughter with a big smile. After all, Kiara was powerful and having her at his disposal for eternity would be the best.
Meanwhile, Percy and Annabeth couldn't hold back any longer and approached Kiara, looking at her injured arms with concern.
"What is this, Kie? What happened to you?" asked Percy, while Annabeth carefully touched Kiara's arms with curiosity.
More demigods like Silena, Michael, and Lee came closer, and suddenly, Kiara was surrounded by her friends worried about her, which made her smile.
"It's just a precaution, don't worry."
Percy was about to ask her why when Hermes appeared, accompanied by the other gods summoned by Hecate. Everyone was curious about the reason for their presence. Kiara, noticing someone special among the small group of gods, quickly turned to Hecate, who smiled with amusement. Kiara, not liking it at all, caused Hecate an aneurysm.
The goddess was about to retaliate when she remembered that there was a greater reason for her being there than fighting with her granddaughter.
"You have all been brought here to witness the future," Hecate declared, positioning herself at the center of the room and capturing everyone's attention. "Each one of you plays a role in its impending destruction," she continued, her voice echoing with a somber intensity. "And today, we gather with the hope of altering that grim fate."
No one said a word, all lost in their own thoughts, imagining the most terrible scenarios.
Hecate, noticing this, continued speaking, now addressing the Olympians. "Your task here will be to recognize your mistake and amend it, for it is the only key to victory. And if you do not, if you do not learn from them, do not change your ways of treating your children and see them only as weapons, you will meet your worst fate. For in the future, you have already found it," finished the goddess, feeling proud to notice how her fellow gods looked ashamed and gazed with pity at their children, who had their eyes wide open upon hearing the goddess's words.
"And how will we see such a ruthless future?" asked Hades, taking his wife's hand, making himself noticed in the room and earning a look from his siblings.
Hecate smiled, passing her gaze among everyone until reaching Hades.
"It will be like watching a TV series, my lord," said the goddess. "And I believe you all will enjoy it."
