The morning was a very busy and tiring time in her household. They would be making their way to visit the Senjus - her father, her mother, her sister and her.. along with some other family members.

The journey was hard as it was during the summer and the heat was slowly burning them all up.

Mito was nervous, Miko concluded after she saw her fiddling non-stop with the hem of the beautiful kimono she wore.

"There's no reason to be this nervous, you know." She told her.

Mito stared her straight in the eyes before giving her a soft smile, "It feels weird, I don't particularly like this feeling. But at least, you will be there with me."

Maybe if she didn't have such good memories with her sister, it wouldn't be as painful when she ignored her.

She was quite surprised when she saw the herd of people gathered at the entrance of their clan compound.

They were waiting for us?

She was pleasantly surprised after seeing the interaction of Hashirama with his clan members and his brother.

He loved his brothers just like Mito loved hers and he was kind, and sweet. Even managing to make Mito feel comfortable enough to stop her fiddling.

And she knew, if there was anyone who deserved to be her sister's husband, it was him. The next clan head of the Senju.

"I like him." Mito confessed to her when they were left alone so he could go and call his brothers for dinner while their parents and clan members went to have a private discussion.

"I can see it." She commented, trying her hardest to not squeal at the slight blush on Mito's cheeks.

"What do you mean?"

"He stopped your fiddling, you know.." She pointed out, "And you haven't yet planned on doing anything bad to him, like you told mother years ago."

"I didn't!"

"Well, you implied it-" She ignored the glare, "I mean.. you indirectly did."

Mito was about to speak some colourful words when four boys interrupted their bickering.

Hashirama stepped forward, "These are my brothers - Tobirama, Kawarama and Itama."

"Good evening." The sisters bowed and the boys did the same in greeting.

The six of them were seated in the dining table where the food was already laid out.

"Why are our parents taking so long anyways?"

"I heard they're planning on going to war with the Uchihas again." Itama commented as he drank a sip of his water.

"Most probably." Hashirama sighed, "I don't particularly agree with this though-"

Tobirama sighed, "There he goes again..."

Miko turned to him with a questioning glance, to which he replied, "Just wait and listen."

"I don't find any reason in fighting. What are we even fighting for anyway?" He ended with a deep intake of breath.

"War doesn't mend, it only destroys." Mito agreed.

"And there she goes again.." it was Miko who spoke this time.

At Tobirama's questioning glance, she replied, "Just wait and listen."

"I also do not see the point of raging wars such as this. I mean, if you want to show that your clan is the strongest, then there are a lot more ways to do so then simply fighting each other. It just causes more and more casualty."

"I can see it already." Tobirama turned to her.

"Me too. They are getting along pretty well." She commented, eating a spoonful of rice.

"What about you?" Tobirama asked, "What do you think about war?"

"I just.. well I guess I don't have any opinion on it." She stared at her plate, deep in thought, "It would be nice to live in a peaceful world but I am also not foolish enough to believe that such a thing is possible." She turned to him, "And you? What do you think?"

"Me? I agree with what you said. It.. it is a nice fantasy, to be part of a world where you don't have to live in fear with cautiousness."

"I guess we have more common than we realize too." She meant for it to be a joke, a passing comment that none of them would remember except to laugh about it when they are older.

So, why did it start something that would never work?

"So, you don't practice Fuinjutsu?"

"No, but it's mandatory to practice ninjutsu and have at least a little knowledge in countering Genjutsu. I guess that's mostly because of our rivalry with the Uchiha though."

"It's mandatory for us to learn Fuinjutsu." She groaned, "I wish we could learn ninjutsu though, sounds fun."

"It might sound fun but it's still hard though." Tobirama told her as they both watched the people around.

"Well, Fuinjutsu is not easy either, you know." She pouted.

He was startled by her change of mood and quickly defended himself, "I didn't say that. I am pretty sure it's hard. Everything feels hard at the beginning but you slowly start getting accustomed to it."

"That's true. So, what do you think about my sister?"

"Huh?" Tobirama was quite annoyed by her ability to easily change the subject per her liking.

"I mean, we both know they're about to get married soon so..." She trailed off, "What do you think of her a sister-in-law?"

"I feel that she is a good match for my brother." And that was it.

He didn't say more and she didn't ask for more.

"I'll be leaving today." She said, staring at the the silver haired boy with whom she had formed a bond with.

"I heard." He answered.

And the place was filled with silence. This was their spot, a place by a small lake where beautiful flowers were growing.

The sight used to calm her down and him as well, it seemed. But right now, the both of them could not calm the sting that was there.

"I will make sure to write though." She said, standing up.

"And I will reply without fail." He answered looking up at her, as he stood up as well.

"Until next time?"

"Until next time."

And so, a promise was made. However, there was no way for the two souls to know that this particular promise would be what led to their greatest fight.
