Johnny woke up slowly, he opened his eyes to see Ponyboy fast asleep next to him. He didn't freak out because he remembered the previous night, how he woke up screaming and crying. He had comforted him when he needed it, no one has ever done that before. Johnny huddles more into his chest and sighs, loving the warmth he had. He closed his eyes again and tried falling back asleep.
Ponyboy groaned and opened his eyes, smiling. He looked down at Johnny and took one of his hands, running it through his hair. Soda does that when he had nightmares and it usually helps so why not try it with Johnny? Johnny leaned into the touch and sighed again, loving the feeling of being touched in a nice way for a change. Ponyboy sat up and pulled Johnny closer into his chest and continued to un a hand through his hair.
Johnny opened his eyes and yawned, rubbing his eyes. Ponyboy stopped running a hand through his hair and placed it by his side. To be honest with themselves, it was the best sleep that they'd had in a very long time. The younger boy unwrapped his arms from around Johnny and got out of bed, stretching his muscles. The older boy put his head down and fiddles with his hands, an obvious habit.
Johnny finally got out of bed, his legs still wobbled from the previous day. He had to catch himself from falling before he smacked his head against the desk. Ponyboy noticed this and wrapped an arm around his shoulder, walking him out into the living room. Ponyboy's brothers and friends sat sprawled about the living room, watching the show that was on the television. They turned their heads to look at Johnny and his face turned red, he never was one for attention.
The younger boy less him into the kitchen and pulls out a chair, setting Johnny in it. Johnny rested his face in his hands, sighing quietly. Ponyboy looked around the kitchen for supplies and dug though the cupboards. He pulled a frying pan and set it on the stove, going to the refrigerator and pulling g out a carton of eggs. Johnny watched him closely, tilting his head.
"What kind of eggs do you want Johnny," Ponyboy asks, turning to face him.
"T-there are different kinds of eggs," Johnny asks.
"There are different ways you can make them yeah. So what kind of eggs do you want," he asks again, smiling at the look on Johnny's face.
"I-i don't know. You can choose for me," Johnny said quietly, hiding the fact that he actually hasn't had eggs in a long time.
"Alright Johnny, I'll choose," Ponyboy replied, turning to the stove again, turning it on.
Johnny sat there and watched as Ponyboy cooked his food while swinging his hips slowly, humming. The older boy got a slight blush on his face and put his head down, biting his lip. Johnny actually knew for a while now that he wasn't fond of girls but instead liked boys. He knew it was wrong but he couldn't help it, it wasn't his fault really. It started when he was about in sixth grade, he had never liked any girls but thought boys were quite attractive.
He had never told anyone because he knew it was frowned upon, liking the same gender. His parents never knew about it but a couple kids at school found out, they have him hell. . . He hated it so much, liking the same gender but it's not like you could just stop being who you are, you can't do that. He tapped his foot softly against the tiled kitchen floor, closing his eyes and tried to fight his blush to go away.
"Here you go Johnny. I didn't know what you liked so I made what I usually make myselfβ," Ponyboy said smiling softly and placing the plate in front of Johnny.
"Thanks Ponyboyβ," Johnny mumbled, lifting up his head.
Ponyboy went back to the stove and started making his own breakfast, leaving Johnny to eat silently. Jonny picked up the fork he was given and began to eat slowly, savouring the taste. He hadn't eaten something this good in a long time, actually eat anything in a while. He never had time to eat really, he was too focused on his hobbies or trying to get out of the house. The food was really good, he practically drooled while trying to eat it.
Ponyboy joined him at the table a few minutes later with his own breakfast, instantly digging into it. Johnny never ate his food quickly, he savoured it, every bit of it. Ponyboyβ was about finished while Johnny was not even half done eating his own. The older boy's eyes widened at the but didn't say anything and continued to eat his food quietly. Ponyboy giggled as he finished his food and placed his plate in the sink, sitting back down next to Johnny.
"You eat really slow," Ponyboy teased, smiling.
"I know that I eat slow. I'm not fond of inhaling my food and choking on it," Johnny said quietly, looking at his plate.
"You have a good point there," Ponyboy laughed.
Johnny finally finished eating his food and placed his plate into the sink, turning the water on and began washing the dishes. Ponyboy frowned at him and took his shoulders, pulling him away from the sink.
"I got the dishes Johnny. You are a guest, you don't do anything," Ponyboy says, putting soap in the water watching it get sudsy.
"O-okay, I apologise. I didn't mean to," Johnny said, sitting back down and looking at his lap.
"Hey it's okay. Your not in trouble or anything, you didn't do nothing wrong," Ponyboy said softly, washing up the dishes, there weren't many at all.
"O-okayβ," Johnny said nodding slightly.
