✧0.18| Slugclub & First Arguments
Evie held Harry's hand under the table, sitting between him and Hermione. The first Slugclub meeting was held later that evening which was the first time Harry and Evie actually got the chance to stop and see each other in quite a few days.
"So tell me, Cormac, do you see anything of your uncle Tiberius these days?" Slughorn asked the blonde, curly haired boy. Evie never liked Cormac much, he was ridiculously uncomfortable to be around and didn't seem to care when he made you feel so.
"Yes, sir. In fact i'm meant to go hunting with him and my father in the Ministry Of Magic over the holidays." Cormac said with a grin, pushing the pudding in his bowl around.
"Meant to go hunting with him and my father in the Ministry Of Magic over the holidays." Evie mocked under her breath, earning a elbow from Hermione while Harry chuckled slightly.
"Oh, be sure to give them both my best." Slughorn said with a slightly judgy look in his eye, "What about your uncle? For those of you that don't know, Marcus' uncle invented the wolves vein potion. Is he working on anything new?"
"Don't know. Him and dad don't get on." Marcus said as he continued to stuff his face with the pudding, having it drop down his chin horribly while the napkin tucked into his shirt.
"And yours, Evelyn?" Slughorn asked, a slight change of mood in his voice as he eyed her, "Your uncle."
"Fine." Evie said, tightening her grip on Harry's hand, "He's fine."
Evies uncle, along with her father, was a death eater. He'd been the one to bring Ambrose to get the Dark Marin branded onto his skin nearly a year ago now. From what Evie knew, they were off somewhere with the Malfoys now, leaving her manor in London completely empty and abandoned.
"And what about you Miss Granger, what exactly does your family do in the muggle world?" Slughorn asked, excitement in his eyes. Evie gave Blaise a odd look at his staring state her way, his eyebrow raising intimidatingly while Evie mearly rolled her eyes and pulled hers and Harry's joined hands onto her lap.
"My parents are dentist, sir." Hermione said as she sat her spoon down to nod his way, all eyes turned her way at the mention of it, confused faces being shared around the table, "They tend to peoples teeth."
"How lovely." Evie whispered as she looked to Harry, "Did you ever go to Dentist?"
"Plenty of times." he said, rubbing her arm slightly with a grin.
"Fascinating." Slughorn said as he eyed Hermione, much like the rest were, "And is that considering a dangerous profession."
"No." Hermione spoke, sitting up straighter as a grin spread on her face, "Although, one boy, Robby Bendwick, did bite my father once. He needed ten stitches."
No one around the table laughed at Hermione joke, non really understanding it aside from Harry who's mind was racing far too much to stop and think. The door of the large room opened, taking the awkwardness away from Hermione as everyone looked to find Ginny walked in, whipping her eyes.
"Ah, Miss Weasley. Come in, come in." Slughorn encouraged her quickly as Ginny walked farther into the room, making a small excuse as she tucked her head, sitting at the empty seat.
"Look at her eyes. They've been fighting again, her and Dean." Hermione spoke in a whisper toward the couple on her left. Evie sighed at the sight of the youngest Weasley.
"Probably time to just call it off then, so you reckon?" Evie asked as Hermione nodded knowingly, "I figured her and Luna would have gotten together by now."
"Luna and Neville seem to be the ones hitting it off." Harry spoke alongside the two girls, "Reckon they don't argue."
"We don't even argue much." Evie said as she eyed the sad state of Ginny, "Not to get either of us in that state anyways."
"What could the two of you even argue about?" Hermione asked in disbelief with a cracked grin, "He's never even looked at you wrongly."
"Correction, I do the arguing, he lets me." Evie said as Harry gave a nod of his head, "Usually stuff that isn't worth arguing over. He likes to use my shampoo now, I always get mad at him for it."
"No wonder you always smell like Blueberries." Hermione said as Harry grinned, "That muggle wash is not cheap, Harry."
"But it smell so nice." Harry said, Evie cracked a smile and rubbed his back.
"You aren't coming?" Evie asked as Harry stayed back when the meeting came to a end.
"I have to ask Slughorn a few things." Harry said with a quick peck to her mouth, "You go, i'll find you in the morning."
Evie sighed as she kissed him again, quickly before anyone had the chance to stop and stare, "Sweet dreams, my love."
Harry flushed, still never getting use to having her in this sense. Evie gave a smile to Slughorn on the way out, catching up with Hermione as she walked her back to Ravenclaw tower.
"She's been acting strange, don't you think?" Harry asked the next morning when he saw Evie sneaking off from breakfast, "More secretive."
"I wouldn't say secretive." Hermione said knowingly from next to him, "You know Evie has a lot to handle right now, with her brother."
"I'm not sure how to talk to her about it." Harry said honestly as he sighed, picking at his food, suddenly loosing his appetite, "I know I need to, i'm just not sure what she wants to hear."
"Reckon she'll bite your head off for even bringing her family up." Ron said, stuffing his face quickly before the game, "I'd leave it alone, mate."
"She's my girlfriend." Harry argued back with him, "I don't want her feeling this alone."
"You can't take her pain away." Hermione spoke as Harry looked over at her, "Just make sure she knows you're there, that's she's not alone if she wants you."
"Right, yes." Harry said as he rose to his feet quickly.
"You're going now?" Ron asked in disbelief with a mouth full.
"Yes, of course." Harry said as he sped off out of the cafeteria, passing Ravenclaw table to see her usual spot empty. Harry headed the way she escaped to, quietly creeping through the halls for any chance of hearing her. Harry grinned when he heard her faint voice, tucked low in mearly a whisper.
"Why are you acting like this? I want to help you." her voice heard as Harry got closer.
"I don't need your help, I don't need anything from you." Harry's paused at the next voice, his anger getting the best of him as he rounded the corner quickly.
Evie stood with Draco, the pair glaring at the other with stern expression.
"Everything okay here?" Harry spoke up, gaining both of their attentions.
"Harry." Evie stated, eyes wide at his stance, "Everything's fine."
"Mind your own business, Potter." Draco said with a glare, leaving Evie as he walked past Harry, the pair glaring at each other the whole way. Evie sighed as she looked away, waiting until his footsteps were gone to look at Harry from down the hall, seeing his eyes burning her way.
"What're you talking to Malfoy for?" Harry questioned as he walked down the hallway to stand before her, keeping his distance as he clinched his jaw, "Not about potions class I can imagine."
Evie sighed, picking up on his attitude, "Its nothing."
"Didn't seem like nothing." Harry said back quickly, Evie huffed as she looked anywhere but at him, "Is he who you've been going to? To talk about your family issues?"
"What?" Evie asked in disbelief as she stared at him in. Harry didn't mean for it to come out so snappy and mean, he just hated seeing the pair of them together again. He could remember how much Evie really did love Draco, how many nights she cried over him, how much she clung to his side through out year four, "No, I haven't. Not that it's any of your concern but I haven't been able to speak to anyone about my family in quite some time."
"Then why are the two of you talking? Sneaking off to see him?" Harry asked her again, much harsher then he intended. He was yelling at himself in his mind, trying to make himself stop but couldn't manage to do so.
"Our families have something in common, I'm trying to help him before it's too late, Harry." Evie said, she had a sense of a glare across her eyes his way, "Whats the issue? Do you not trust me?"
"I trust you, not him." Harry said to her with a shake of his head, "I don't want him getting in the way of us again."
"He's not!" Evie said back defensively, "If you really think that then maybe you don't trust me."
"Maybe me." Harry stated angrily, not meaning to yet again, "I've got to go, have a quidditch game."
Harry stormed off, leaving Evie in the hallway before the Room Of Requirements. She shut her eyes, leaning on the wall and sighing loudly.
