✧0.16| Compatable Signs & Hand Lines

Harry hadn't been able to see Evie, his girlfriend, much over the summer. After September first they only saw each other twice which was far too little of a time the pair needed together. The owled constantly, that was until Evie's last week of summer when she was able to go home, wishing her brother goodbye.

Harry became horribly worried when she hadn't answered, sending her a letter each of the seven days, never getting a reply from any. He worried she had been hurt, pained, or worse. Evie was smart, her mind was a brilliant place, Harry had to trust that as each day passed.

Now, on the Hogwarts Express, he left his friends for a split moment. He could imagine she'd stay away from where Malfoy was sitting, causing Harry to walk the other way and toward the next cart of the express. He searched each one, looking for the Ravenclaw in hopes of known she was at least okay if that was all.

"Luna, have you seen Evie?" Harry asked, looking to the girl who was sat with Ginny and Neville.

"Oh, I saw her studying her fingers a few moments ago. Funny little face she had." Luna said with a hum, messing with her glasses on her eyes, "I gave her a quibbler."

"She's a few rows down, Dean and I saw her. She was alone, she didn't let us sit with her." Ginny said with a slightly hurt expression across her face, "Her knuckles, Harry."

"What's the matter with them?" he asked with a odd look across his face, hoping they'd hurry with the talk so he could race down the isle to find her.

"They're all bloodied up, mate, she doesn't look good." Neville said, there was a sense of worry across his eyes. Harry didn't have time to answer, his legs moving rather quickly. His mind raced of everything that could have gone wrong, why she had bloody knuckles, why she didn't look like she usually did. He over thought it, just in the few seconds it took to get to her.

Harry nearly tripped as he stopped his quick pace, looking through the clear sliding door that was keeping the pair apart. He looked to her hands first, they had dried blood coated slightly against her skin, hands squeezed so tightly they were nearly the palest shade of white. He then took notice of her body language, how she was nearly asleep against the wall but kept jolting away, like she was scared.

No, like she was terrified.

Harry pulled the door open, earning a loud groan from her, "Merlin, won't you leave me-"

Evie began before her eyes found his. Harry saw the pools of chaos in them, a story he hadn't known despite knowing everything about her. Something was there, a nightmare, something he hadn't been able to know. Something new, something she lost sleep over which resulted in the horrible eye bags.

"Evie." Harry said, he was stoped as she rose from her seat, throwing herself at him quickly. Harry stumbled back into the isle, holding her tightly. He felt a sense of relief, not completely, but some what. She was safe here with him, nothing could happen if he had her, that he could protect her from all the damage in the world.

"I'm sorry I couldn't answer your letters, it's a long story." she said, pulling back. One of her hands held his face while the other rested on his neck, kissing him gently yet let it linger before pulling away. She looked sad, different, like she'd seen things no one should ever, "I missed you."

"I missed you too." Harry said, sitting down with her. His eyes looked down at her bloody hands, "What happened here?"

She didn't say anything for a moment, hiding them under her thighs, "Fought my dad."

Harry looked at her with a crazed look, "You won?"

She had to laugh, a noise he was so glad to here. Evie hadn't answered him, mearly wrapping her arms around him and burying her head in his neck, "I'm so sorry, darling."

"It's okay, I just missed talking to you." Harry said, referring to her lack of letters sent his way.

"Yeah." was all she said, eyes squeezing away from his gaze.

Neither of the couple talked the rest of the ride, sitting together. Evies arms would tighten around Harry ever few minutes when she'd jult awake, her eyes getting heavy again when he'd shh her and stroke her hair. When Hogwarts came into view he woke her up slowly, attempting not to cause a sudden panic, "I'll meet you at the gates?"

"You're not walking in with me?" her words came out gentle and tired, Harry liked her tired voice a lot.

"I'll only be a minute." he said, a small, guilty smile on his face. Evie eyed him oddly, grabbing her bag with a kiss to his check, moving past him to get off the train.

"Hi Evie." Lavender greeted the girl with a gentle smile, "Good summer?"

"Hey Lav." Evie said, rubbing her tired eyes with a grin, "It was okay, yours?"

"Lovely, I was wondering if you could help me with something?" the blonde asked as the pair walked out of the train, the sudden breeze from the night sky hitting the pair quickly. Evie hummed with a nod, waiting for the Gryffindor to go on, "You know when the signs are comparable, don't you?"

"Know it by heart." Evie said with a prideful grin, grabbing two black apples from the bush they passed, "That's odd."

"What is?" Lavender asked with a frown of her eyebrows, taking the apple Evie offered.

"These usually only grow high in the trees, so high your ears pop." Evie said with a look up at the trees, taking the apple back from Lavender and tossing them both away, "Just incase, what was it you were curious about?"

"Mine, it's Taurus, right? May second." she said, hugging her scarf closer to her neck and pulling Evies to wrap around her better.

"It is, well your Sun sign anyways, which is most accurate I'd say." Evie nodded her head, giving Cho a smile as she walked past the pair, "Why do you ask? Do you want me to give your your birth chart? Or perhaps what signs most liking to kill you?"

Lavender laughed as she shook her head, "No, no, I was just curious. Uh, you wouldn't happen to know, you know, Ron's?"

"Ron Weasley?" Evie asked with a blink, Lavender nodded with a flushed face. Evie pulled the rust brown notebook from her bag, flipping toward the W's, looking under Fred's name, "Ron's a Pisces."

"And are Pisces and Taurus comparable any?" she asked hopefully, her ears reddening. Evie smirked at her, the air from her book blowing her hair back as she shut it.

"Extremely." she spoke confidently as Lavender sighed in relief, "Ron? Good looking guy, great choice in food."

"I think so too." Lavender said with a flushed face, "Thanks Evie."

Evie winked at her, "See you."

Lavender walked off, getting on the carriage and gushing with the Patil twins who both gave a wave toward Evie. The blonde waved, watching as they left. She searched for Harry, sighing as the crowd died down and he still hadn't exited the train. Her eyes looked down at her knuckled, attempting to scratch the dried blood off but yelping in pain. She then looked at the line on her hand, the scar line Umbridge gave her to scare her with a childhood trauma her ex boyfriend informed her about. Evies eyes looked up when she heard footsteps.

It was fair to say Evie still was angry at Draco for what he did to her last year, for putting her in that situation. The pair had history, quite a lot that was. They saw each other once over the summer, though it was a very horrible day, one Evie couldn't get out of her head. Though it was only a few days ago, the pair looked at each other as if the other had been dead for ages and were a ghost.

Evie nodded toward him, "Black suits you."

Draco looked down at his suit, sighing before he looked up at her with a faint look of guilt, "I didn't-"

"Stop." she warned him, "I don't wanna talk about it."

He rolled his eyes but nodded, eyeing her, "Ambrose.. is he-"

"Dunno." the blonde said back, "I was gonna ask you the exact same thing."

"How would I know?" he asked suddenly and defensively, Evie knew he was lying by the exchange its self.

"Guess you wouldn't, Draco." she spoke to him with a sigh, eyeing him as he shifted uncomfortably under her stare, "Better get in there, wouldn't want to miss anything."

"You're not coming?" he asked, looking toward the castle.

"In a little bit." she answered him as he nodded, starting to walk off before she spoke again, "I know."

He stopped, "You don't know anything."

"I know a lot more then you think I do." she spoke suddenly as he looked over his shoulder at her, "I care about you, a lot, though I shouldn't. If we-"

"No." Draco said suddenly, stopping her as he looked forward again, "Don't get involved."

He began walking off again, hearing her once more, "Hard not to... all things considering."

He ignored her, though apart of him wanted to turn back and say something, do something, anything.

But he didn't.
