✧0.10| Common Rooms & Feelings Bloom
Evie walked into the Gryffindor common room, something that took a lot of convincing and quite a few white lies. She found Harry in no time, seeing him leaned over a book with his sleeves rolled up. He looked beautiful near the fire, his face illuminating in the slightest. Evie made her way toward him, resting a hand on his shoulder as he jumped and looked back at her.
"Evie." Harry gasped, not expecting anyone to be down here at this hour, "How'd you get in here?"
"I wanted to see you." she spoke softly, her bandaged hand running across his face. Evie moved and took a seat in his lap without any hesitation or awkwardness. Harry went stiff as his body shook slightly, letting himself get use to her as she leaned back. He then realized her mood, feeling the way she clinged onto him.
She was scared of something.
"What's going on with you?" Harry questioned as his hands shook slightly when they wrapped around her body that was sat on top of him.
"I hate it here." Evie spoke as she sighed, "I hate all the people here, I hate everything and everyone."
"Why do you say that?" Harry asked, not use to this negative side of her. He didn't like it one bit, he liked her when she was herself and always tried to see the good in others. But maybe this was who she was, and he'd been too blinded to see it.
Evie ignored his questioned, not wanting to explain it again as she turned slightly to look at him, her motion making Harry flush but stare at her with soft eyes, "I hate everyone but you."
He gave her a half smile, thankful she'd said so because he knew he'd overthinking her words about hating everyone, "I don't hate you either."
"I'd hope not." Evie laughed as she moved again to lay her head down into his neck, straining her own slightly to do so but found it worth it in the warmth and comfort feeling, "I hope you don't mind i'm here, I can go if you need to finish this."
"No, you stay." Harry said quickly, too quickly that made him scold himself and flush in embarrassment, "Its only a letter to S.... Snuffles."
Evie remembered Harry saying Sirius's code name was Snuffles back at Christmas... a day she wished she could have gone back to right now. Evie hummed at his words, shutting her eyes and listing to his loud and quick heartbeat that she could hear from the other side of his chest, "Is everything okay?"
Evie could tell he was wondering why she'd decided to come in here, knowing it wasn't like her to leave Ravenclaw tower in the middle of the night just to take a seat with him in the middle of the common room, "I was too scared in my dorm room."
"Scared of what?" Harry's words were quick and panicked. What could Evie possibly be scared of and why didn't he realize it sooner? More importantly, why had she come to him.
"Umbridge... Draco... my family... Voldemort... everything, Harry." Harry listen to her words, he couldn't help but wonder what Malfoy had done to make her seem like this all of a sudden, make her suddenly feel so much anger and fear toward him when all she'd only ever felt was safety and love. Harry was glad she'd come to him rather then anyone else, he knew no one else in the world would be able to protect her the way he would.
"If someone's hurt you, Evie..." he trailed off, he went to say he'd kill them or he'd want them to be dead but decided against it when he remembered how much she'd hated the idea of physical abuse. Evie didn't answer, only nudging under his chin with the top of her head.
"I feel safer here." Evie confirmed, feel weak and tired from what went on this evening. Evie knew maybe to the public eye it wouldn't have been something anyone would be this hurt over. But it was to her, it was because it touched into her trauma she already experienced back home when she'd only ever felt safe at Hogwarts. Not to mention Draco was involved, not the mention he's the one that told Umbridge, not to mention he didn't stop her, not to mention he didn't love Evie nearly as much as she did him.
Evie knew Harry wouldn't have just sat there if she was being hurt, he never did.
"The Gryffindor common room?" Harry found himself laughing slightly at her words, becoming comfortable with the way they were sat and allowing his left arm to rest across her lap.
"No." Evie answered as her eyes shut, exhausted but found it impossible to sleep alone, "Here with you, I mean."
Harry paused, froze at her words. He could feel her breathing get heavier, indicating she was fast asleep very quickly here with him. He hated that she had to feel this way, hated that he couldn't do anything to fix or figure out what had happened. But putting all the hatred aside... he loved that she'd felt just as safe with him as he did her.
"Evie, is it you?" Lavender asked, a frightened tone in her voice as the Room Of Requirments began to darker, a loud noise began to be heard, like something was hitting the roof horribly hard.
"No." Evie asked, her voice sound scared as she lowered her wand, "Harry?"
He looked just as confused as the others, grabbing her hand to pull her closer into the ground as Lavender followed close behind her and taking a stance next to Dean and Seamus. Evie squeezed Harry's hand in fear when the mirror broke into many pieces before the group.
"Death Eaters?" Evie guessed, her voice small and fearful at the thought of the horrible creatures coming for them, surely Lucious Malfoy wouldn't let her go with just a scratch this time. Harry didn't answer her, simply pulling her closer to him with Ron and Hermione, watching the scene unfold before them. The Potter boy crept forward, letting the girl go as he peaked through the small opening in the wall.
Before he had the chance to react, he was running back and pulling others with him. The wall exploded into many pieces, hitting a few members of Dumbledores Army in the process. Harry held Evie against him, standing as far away as the two could manage. As the smoke cleared the pair could make out Umbridge standing there was a frog like smile, Filch and her teenage gang of Slythrins close by. Draco was suddenly in the frame, holding Cho tightly as she looked down guilty.
"Get them." Umbridge demanded as she took hold of Cho while the Slythrins grabbed hold of the ones they could. Evie let go of Harry, knowing there was no escape at this point. Draco approached her with a angered look across his face.
"You lied to me!" the platinum blonde boy said angrily as he clinched his jaw her way. Harry went to approach the pair, ready to yank Malfoys hands off of Evies wrist but was stopped when Crabble and Goyle grabbed hold of him.
"Don't you hurt her, Malfoy!" Harry shouted on the way out, loud enough to travel back toward the pair. Evie was turned quickly as Draco held her wrist, a guilty look at her wrapped and bandaged hand before he began to drag her out of the Room Of Requirements.
"You can't say anything, that's all you do is lie to me." Evie spoke annoyed toward Draco, not being able to hold herself back to spare him like she usually did, "You were a horrible boyfriend, even worse of a friend."
"I did everything for you!" Draco spoke as he turned her around and shoved her out of his grasp.
"Like what? Sitting back and watching me get hurt multiple times! Or maybe it was when you couldn't keep your huge mouth shut after I told you something I shouldn't have!" she was angry, never had she felt so angry, especially not toward him. Draco always annoyed the hell out of her, even when she loved him, but she'd constantly restrain herself from lashing out on him with what he was dealing with back home, "You're a liar and a narcissist! I can't believe I ever lowered my standards for you!"
"Well you did! And you liked it!" his comeback was horrible, but he couldn't let her win this, not when they both seemed so hurt while everyone seemed to be staring at the pair who wouldn't stop yelling at the other, "You weren't all that great either!"
"Oh my apologies for not falling at your feet and waiting on you hand and foot! I had a life, a important one that I actually liked until you showed up!" Evie didn't necessarily mean that, she found more light in her life when she had Draco close to her, but once the pair split she felt dreadful most of the time, like her life was worse.
"Consider the feelings mutual!" with the final yell he grabbed hold of her and began pulling her forcefully down the hallway toward Umbridges office, feeling slightly embarrassed nearly all of Hogwarts heard the pair at each other throat.
