IT'S FINE
FINE by taeyeon
❝You look like me but in a different way. I wonder if you feel the same way I do❞.
Going down the stairs without attracting attention was easy, everyone in the house ignored her movements except her younger sister, who after seeing her, quickly ran to her.
"Ahr-"
"Shh." She made a sign of silence with her hand. "Do you want to go to the park with me?"
The youngest's eyes shone and she nodded excitedly. Unfortunately, Ahri couldn't take her without asking for permission, so she took advantage of the fact that her younger brother had just entered the door so that he would be in charge of notifying her parents.
"Jungwon, I'm going out with Wonri to the park." She took the girl's hand. "Tell Mom and Dad, please."
The boy rolled his eyes and then nodded his head in agreement, feeling that it was very stupid that his older sister tried to avoid her parents, but still he did not object.
The park was not far from her house, it was really the same one that was in front of the cafeteria where she was during the afternoon.
She walked hand in hand with her sister while the little girl sang and jumped excitedly, because it was not very common to take her to the park on a weekday.
"You can go play there, I'll wait for you here." Ahri pointed to the games not far from where she had sat.
"Aren't you going to play with me?"
Ahri looked at her sister with pity. "No, Wonri, but I promise if we come another day I'll play with you."
The youngest smiled, accepting the promise that Ahri had just made, without waiting much longer she ran to the games where there were three other children playing.
Certainly on the inside, Ahri would like to go back to being a carefree little girl with lots of energy and happiness inside. However, that was not possible.
For children, time is eternal, however, Ahri felt how the hours weighed down on her and she began to feel tired. Turning off her phone, she began to look around the park to rest her eyes. It was not so cold, the sun was beginning to hide, the leaves of the trees were mostly yellow and there were not many people around her, however something or someone caught her attention: it was a boy around her age and two little girls, curiously one of the girls looked like her sister. But what confirmed it all was the small bracelet on her hand that she had since her birth.
She quickly got up to find out what Wonri was doing there, because no matter how innocent the boy looked, Wonri knew that she couldn't leave the playground without her permission, or talk to strangers.
"Wonri." Ahri caught the attention of her sister, who happily brought her closer to her new friends.
"She's my new best friend, Youngji!" The little girl expressed excitedly as she jumped with Youngji.
Without even caring about the presence of the teenagers in the place, they both went to the playground excited to play again, leaving the teenagers alone.
Ahri looked at the boy, noting that he was a little tense. She couldn't deny that she felt the same uneasiness but still she tried to start a conversation with him.
"I suppose you must be Youngji's brother, right?"
The boy nodded, but he didn't say a word. His gaze went directly to his shoes and his mind could be far from this reality. That's how Ahri saw him, as a lost and lonely boy, just like her.
She felt that she had to leave that place immediately: the uncomfortable atmosphere they had created between them made her feel suffocated, as if she could not breathe or even move, which could be the reason why she had not made any movement so far.
She also thought that it was ironic that she had to look for an exit in a place as open as the park was. Even so, she managed to find a way out of there by seeing the little girls play on the swings, trying to make the game fulfill its purpose of taking them to the top.
"Need help?" Asked Ahri once she approached both of them.
Her sister, Wonri, nodded excitedly. Youngji, on the other hand, ran to her brother asking him for help.
Somehow it wasn't so uncomfortable anymore: they were just two teenagers playing with their sisters.
Finally, the night came. The little girls said goodbye and the teenagers never spoke to each other. However, Beomgyu didn't expect there to be physical contact between them two: Ahri stretched his arm showing his fist, waiting for the boy to hit it.
Awkwardly, he did it.
"Even if we didn't talk, it was nice having both of you today." Ahri said looking to Youngji, who also hit her fist.
For the first time in a long time, Beomgyu smiled honestly as he waved his hand saying goodbye.
He took his sister's hand to leave: his house was in front of the park, so he was lucky to be able to go whenever he wanted, however he did not like to be there overnight as it was too dark.
When they arrived, dinner was ready. This time he decided to eat with his parents. The silence was not awkward like other times and he even had a conversation with his father which made him feel proud of himself because other times he cut off the conversation because he didn't feel like talking.
At bedtime he sat on his bed looking at the empty wall. An idea came to his mind: he searched through his belongings for his photo album and took out his favorite, which was him with his teddy bear the day they gave it to him.
He walked over to the wall and taped the photo in the middle. He was willing to change his attitude, and start seeing the world with more colors.
His first companion and friend is his teddy bear. It contained his past and as his father said: the key to living in the present is to accept your past.
