COBRA KAI | GLORY OF LOVE
season two, episode eight

iris ━━ goo goo dolls
❜and i'd give up forever to touch
you, cause i know that you feel me
somehow

WHEN WILLOW SAID that she was tired of dating, she obviously meant it, so when she sat in the dojo and listened to Tanner, who tried every to invite her on a date, she felt her lips pure into a visible grimace.

She held her leg up, stretching, but also trying to find the perfect moment to tell the Sage boy to stop talking and disagree with him meanwhile. She didn't know him that much to decide whether she liked him or not, and also didn't want to give him some hope while she was still not over Hawk. Well, in fact, she was stopped between nothing and everything right now — she still couldn't even get herself to start getting over the Moskowitz boy, because the feelings for him were growing every time she saw him. To describe it in two words, she was fucked up.

She cleared her throat loudly, and caught his and some other boys' attention. She waved them off quickly and turned her gaze to Tanner, who sat on the mat, stretching right next to her. "I don't really think that's a good idea, Tanner." she declared, making him frown in confusion.

"What? You don't like the Beach Club? You don't have to worry, we can just —" he started, but she shook her head firmly, telling him not to continue.

"No, no. It's not about that. It's just, I'm still not —" she started explaining, but he interrupted her just when the door bell rang and Hawk walked into the dojo, his blue eyes falling on the two before he looked away and kicked the shoes off his feet.

               "It's about him, isn't it?"

Even though Willow sensed the sadness in Tanner's voice, she nodded her head. She wasn't going to lie when it was actually obvious. "Yes, it is," she replied shortly, a quiet 'oh' escaping his lips before he stood up and immediately walked away. With that, the girl bit her lips and tried to ignore people's curious gazes.

Just then, Blair finally approached her best friend, snorting slightly at the image of Stingray, who tried to mimic Willow's moves, but failed as he lost his balance and almost fell on the floor. The Johnson girl put a hand on her best friend's shoulder, squeezing in a little. She knew Tanner not much longer than Willow, but she already knew how he could be sometimes.

"You wanna talk about it now or later?" Blair questioned quietly so that only Willow could hear her.

The answer was obvious, "Later. I feel as if someone had just hit me with their head right into the face," she declared and the dark blonde girl, nudged her shoulder playfully before the two glanced at Hawk and Miguel, who were now talking together. A small grin appeared on Willow's lips as she watched them make their own handshake and then go separate ways.

When Eli felt the girl's gaze on himself, he looked back at her and gave her a small smile, which she didn't return and looked back at Blair. A sigh escaped his lips and disappointment showed on his face as he came back to listen to what Rickenberger was saying. He really missed talking to Willow just like they did in the past.

"Everybody, fall in!" they heard after some minutes passed and Willow immediately took her usual place in the second row next to Blair. The two girls watched as Johnny walked out of his office and frowned when they saw that Kreese wasn't anywhere nearby, which was strange, but also good. The two really started considering creating John Kreese's hatepage account recently.

"Today, we'll be learning one of the most important lessons a Cobra Kai could ever know," Johnny announced and Willow smiled in excitement.

However, not everyone was sharing the same feelings as her, which she realized after Eli spoke. "Where's Sensei Kreese?"

Willow twitched her pinky lips with misunderstanding, not seeing the big deal in the whole situation, because ever since Kreese started comparing her to her face, her respect for him lowered more and more. And trust her when she'll tell you that he did that a lot of times in a few days.

"Yeah. Shouldn't we wait for the Sensei Emeritus before we get going?" Stingray joined in the conversation, but his confidence lowered as soon as Johnny's gaze fell on him. "Or not." he added and Blair's snort was heard in the room, but this time everyone ignored it as the present topic was more important to them.

The Lawrence looked around the room before speaking, "Mr. Kreese will no longer be joining us," he announced and a short, happy gasp left Willow's and Blair's mouths, which made the man glare at them with this eyebrows raised.

The violet-haired girl cleared her throat immediately. "Uh, um, sorry. That's — too bad?" she said unsure, trying to fit into the others' reactions.

Some unpleasant groans of students echoed in the room, but they silenced themselves as soon as Willow and Blair turned to them, sending murderous glares towards them. The fact that they were scared of them was actually funny, especially when they could use it.

"I made a promise when I became your Sensei — to always look out for your best interests. Despite how hard this may be for all of us," Johnny then glared at Blair and Willow again. "Or most of us, he didn't have our best interests at heart. John Kreese may have founded Cobra Kai, but he no longer represents what this dojo stands for. His Cobra Kai was old and outdated. He refused to move forward and what happens when we do that, Mr. Diaz?" he turned his attention to Miguel.

"You got stuck like a cement," the Diaz boy muttered, Johnny agreeing.

"Exactly. To be a great fighter, you gotta learn to adapt. This creed on the wall . . ." he pointed to the wall with the famous rules of the fists. "Follow it to the letter, it'll make you stronger, it'll make you formidable. It'll also make you an asshole," he declared, looking meaningfully between Willow and Hawk, the girl's body tensing at the mention.

"Cause that's just black paint on a white wall. But life's not black and white. More often than not, it's gray. And in those gray areas where Johnny Lawrence's Cobra Kai . . . sometimes shows mercy," he explained and just then, the violet-haired girl watched as Hawk looked at Miguel with indignation and incomprehension. She felt a quiet sigh leave her lips when she glanced back at the blonde man. "Doesn't mean you can't be badass, it's still a requirement. But you have to learn to think, not just with your gut, or your fists, but to really use . . . " he hit the side of his head a few times. "This."

The students watched him in silence, each of their facial expressions being different from other ones.

"Which leads me to today's lesson," he claimed, taking a board into his hands and smashing it against his forehead. Willow's mouth opened in shock before she chuckled quietly. "Headbutting. Grab a partner."

And so after a few minutes, the Froud girl stood in front of Blair, both taking a deep breath, Willow already starting to think what she would tell her parents when they'd see ( which was more than possible ) the big bruise on her forehead. Just then, she nodded to the dark blonde, giving her the actual sign to start and as a result, Blair's forehead collided with her hard, making her stumble backwards and then hit the ground with her body, some heads people to her, their eyes widened in shock.

Hawk, after headbutting Mitch, turned to Willow and opened his mouth to make sure she was okay, but got interrupted by Stingray, who out of nowhere appeared in front of him.

"Oh! That was awesome! Do me next," the man said in excitement, the boy doing what he told him before looking back at the place when Willow was earlier. She wasn't there anymore, so he sighed in dissatisfaction and turned to another student.

WILLOW LAID ON HER bed with Charlie being right next to her, putting a cold frozen food to her newly bruised forehead. A quiet painful hiss escaped her lips as the two switched again, so that the younger boy's hands could finally rest while the two watched another part of High School Musical together.

After Willow told Charlie the truth about how she got the bruise on her forehead so easily, he promised not to tell anything to their parents under a one condition that she'll watch some movies with him, and she agreed immediately. She didn't have any plans, plus she was too terrified what would happen if they'd found out about her training with Johnny Lawrence. Maybe Adelaide would be more soft, but Sean? He would be really angry at her, and she didn't want that. She had enough arguments in her life.

"So . . . not that I miss them, because I'm a tough guy, but I haven't seen Eli or Demetri here in a while," Charlie spoke, suddenly stopping the movie, making Willow's eyes flicker towards him and freeze at the mention of the two boys.

She hadn't spoken with Demetri since he sent her the photos of what happened in Miyagi-Do and Eli . . . it was complicated with him. Her brother didn't even know that he was a completely different person right now and explaining it seemed pretty hard to her — what was she supposed to tell him? That her cute, shy best friend wasn't shy anymore and was now an asshole, who was the one responsible for her heart being broken? Yeah, totally not.

She cleared her throat, "Um, they're . . . they're going to show up soon, you know. We're pretty busy with karate right now, so we don't have that much time to hang out together anymore." she explained, the half of it being a lie. Of course they had time — things just were different between them.

Charlie scrunched his nose in confusion, "But your other broski's are still coming here! Did you guys argue about some nerd movie again?" he questioned, eyeing the girl suspiciously. Her words were hard for him to believe.

Willow felt a hug in her heart for the second time that day. Charlie also didn't know that nerd movies weren't the reasons for their arguments anymore — this time they were much more serious. Nothing about them was the same as it was. Everything changed and unfortunately, for the worse.

The violet-haired girl couldn't tell the boy about it, though. She couldn't let him start looking at both boys differently than he did before. Especially at Eli Moskowitz, who even after being such an asshole, still mattered to her a lot. And she believed it wouldn't change.

"Yeah, you know us too well," she forced a smile and with that, a mix of concern and sadness showed on the boy's face.

"But they'll come around, right? They won't leave you?" he wanted to make sure. As a reply, Willow hid the hurtness and smiled even more, putting an arm around the younger boy, who leaned into their hug.

               "Of course, they won't."

And with these words, Willow really tried to convince herself that it was true. That some parts of her boys were still there.

AFTER SOME TIME, the violet-haired girl finally got out of her room.

She walked past the living room and scowled when she saw her father lying on the couch, watching something as he always did. When Sean caught a glimpse of the girl, he immediately stood up and a sigh of relief left his lips. That made her frown and glanced back at him, confusion washing all over her face. The man was acting really strange lately — as if he cared.

And even though she didn't want that, she started accepting it lately.

"Hey, angel. Do you know where your mom left some money? I wanted to go to the mall and buy some groceries," he asked, the violet-haired girl shaking her head just after hearing that.

"Um, no, but — maybe you can ask her about that?" she suggested, but this time he quickly disagreed.

"No, no. I want this to be a surprise, so please don't tell her anything,"

Willow grimaced and her eyes narrowed. She nodded her head slightly in understanding and walked into the kitchen, her father following after her. She tried her best not to tense, feeling his gaze following her every move.

"Maybe . . . maybe you can lend me some money," he spoke after some time and with that, the bowl fell out of her hands, making a big noise around them. She felt herself freezing in surprise. Seeing her reaction, Sean continued. "I want to make a romantic dinner to make everything up to her," he explained.

The girl bit her cheek in disbelief, still being turned to him with her back, not knowing what to say. From the one side, she really wanted to agree since it was all for her mother, but from the other one something made her still feel unsure. She had a little bad feeling about everything.

"I promise you, I'll give it back as soon as your mother will be home," he reassured and she titled her head to the side, considering his suggestion. She would do anything for her mom to finally be happy.

( But once again, when Willow from the future found out the truth, she felt nothing else than anger )

"Okay, I get it. You still didn't forgive me, it's fine." he faked a sad face and a deep exhale left his lips.

And that was enough to work on Willow Froud — Sean was the greatest master of emotional manipulation.

"No, I — I'll do it. You can take the money if it's really for mom," she answered and a proud smile appeared on Sean's lips.

               "Thank you, angel."

( And Willow from the future really regretted her decision )
