brooke elliott is what you might call a hopeless romantic. from a young age, she has dreamed up the most perfect romance that she was sure to some day have.

a love, perhaps, like that of her parents.

mary and phillip elliott were in love, that was clear to everyone in mystic falls. especially the young and very observant brooke.

she loved growing up watching the way her parents were with each other, they loved to laugh and dance and though they argued, it never lasted long. they were love, at least brooke always thought so.

but things change.

mary passed away when brooke was nine and nate was thirteen, sending phillip into a downward spiral. he drank and smoked, doing anything to numb the pain of losing his beloved wife.

soon, he was so numb that he had seemingly forgotten he had children, who saw everything – and everyone – be was doing.

and it was then that brooke declared that love was dead, it wasn't real. it jugs didn't happen.

not even a full three years later, phillip vanished. he packed up and left, leaving behind no note it anything and a sixteen year old nate was left to raise his sister, and though he wasn't sure what he was doing, he did his best.

now, 17 and more broken than she could ever comprehend, brooke finds herself falling for the dark and mysterious damon salvatore - a man she knows she shouldn't be falling for.

despite her better judgement, she lets herself bury her internal pain and suffering with his attention and despite knowing that he'll never love her, she falls in love with the attention he gives her.

if only she were the object of his true affection and not just a substitute while he waits for his one true love, katherine.

๋࣭⭑⚝ damon uses brooke as a pawn, she's his way to get information - he essentially uses her like he does caroline

๋࣭⭑⚝ damon and caroline can still happen, but if you can work around it so it's brooke instead of caroline that would be great

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is a broken girl, she was once happy and very optimistic. she always saw the best in people, something that hasn't really changed, but now she slow to trust people. but when damon offers her attention, she'd quick to jump into bed with him

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is elena's cousins. mary was grayson's sister. people often make jokes that they were ment to be twins seeing as they born less then a month apart

๋࣭⭑⚝ nate got legal custody of brooke when he turned eighteen, she was fourteen at the time

๋࣭⭑⚝ grayson and miranda took brooke and nate in after philip left, but the second nate was old enough, he got custody of brooke

๋࣭⭑⚝ the gilberts helped the two out very often, having them over for dinner, helping when they couldn't afford the pay rent and by groceries

๋࣭⭑⚝ nate works in construction, has since he was sixteen

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke works at the grill, she's a waitress - she can't legally serve alcohol until she'd eighteen. she did work at the local grocery store when she was fifteen, but when she got the job at the grill she quit the store

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke and nate love in a trailer, it's two bedrooms and very small. they can't afford an actual house, but brooke never feels ashamed of her living situation, she knows jay has worked hard to put a roof over their heads. they fact that she lives in a trailer is sometimes brought up someone wants to make her feel like she's less than them

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is a cheerleader and a damn good one. she's a flyer

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is friends with elena, bonnie and caroline. she's closest to caroline, often going to parties and spending her free nights with the blonde

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke can be considered a bitch, she's not afraid to speak her mind and she can be a bit of a bully, but that's to hide how broken she really is

๋࣭⭑⚝ she and tyler used to fool around, he was her first their freshman year of high school

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is very close with matt, they were basically best friends growing up. they're parents were close. she is also close to vicki, but she stopped hanging out with her as much when she started doing drugs. she stills cares for vicki and she'd fight for her, but they aren't as close as they once were

๋࣭⭑⚝ elena and brooke aren't super close, they bicker like siblings and they run in the same circle but they don't talk much ( this would develop over time, they would get closer slowly )

๋࣭⭑⚝ nate is older then brooke by four years, he's 21 in season one. and he and brooke are surprisingly close. he's her favorite person in town and they have family movie nights at least once a week

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke would develop and heal over time, realizing that damon just isn't the guy for her. she even calls him all for the shit he did to her - the bite marks, making her his blood bag, and the compulsion

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke would definitely turn into a vampire, but not sure when

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke would date a few other people before ending up with her endgame, she might even have a small fling with ben in season one, not knowing that he's a vampire. it wouldn't last long, though

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke would do anything for her family, despite not being close to elena, she would die for her if she needed to ( maybe this could be why she turns, she did something to protect elena and ended up close to death. stefan or damon gives her their blood at elena's request and she dies, and comes back as a vampire )

๋࣭⭑⚝ she'd definitely be pissed after she changes, she'd take it out in the on everyone, especially elena and the one who's blood turned her

๋࣭⭑⚝ nate could get turned into a vampire, definitely later in the series, seeing as he doesn't find out about them until season four

๋࣭⭑⚝ nate is strong and very dependable. he's responsible, because he has to be. he'd do anything for brooke and the rest of his family. he helps jenna out a lot after grayson and miranda pass

๋࣭⭑⚝ stefan and brooke are endgame and slow burn because brooke doesn't want to hurt elena ❪ 🕯️ ❫ tough they could go through a break up or two

๋࣭⭑⚝ caroline and Stefan are best friends, their friendship still develops like in the series, but they are never more than that

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke got her middle name from liz forbes, mary and liz were close in high school

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke is close to jeremy, she takes care of him but she isn't overbearing. he feels like he can talk to her about anything

๋࣭⭑⚝ when stefan gets locked in the safe, brooke spends every free moment searching for stefan - at this point they are either dating or just really close friends and they get together sometime after this

๋࣭⭑⚝ brooke turns off her emotions at some point, maybe season four or five either when jeremy dies, or for some other reason and when you feel it makes sense for her character and the plot. and she's very close to being a ripper when her emotions are off
