꧁★ act one— chapter one ★꧂

As Madelyn stood on the lower level of the drop ship she heard the voice of a girl who had just climbed down.

"Bellamy?" The girl asked, she walked toward the front where a guard was standing, he turned around, they hugged cause obviously they knew each other.

A blonde girl started talking and some others said some thing, but Madelyn didn't listen she was looking around the drops hit not caring about their conversation, until she heard the doors open, she turned around and walked toward the front, the girl from before stepped out onto the platform, she took a deep breath before stepping down onto the ground, she raised her arms in the air as she took another breath and yelled.

"WE'RE BACK BITCHES!" At that everybody cheered and ran out of the ship, not a care in the world, Madelyn ran with them, she ran out into the beautiful nature, she admired the trees, the grass, the flowers, she listened to the sound of the wind and the birds singing, she touched everything, she never wanted this feeling to ever leave.

Madelyn befriended this one girl who was around her age, her name was Charlotte.

She thought that maybe this would be the second change for an amazing life but oh how wrong she was.

"We need to get to Mount Weather. Not because the chancellor said so, but because the longer we wait, the hungrier we'll get and the harder this'll be." The blonde from before spoke as Madelyn catched up to the people standing together at the drop ship.

"How long do you think we'll last without those supplies? We're looking at a 20-mile trek, ok? So if we want to get there before dark, we need to leave now."

"I got a better idea. You two go, find it for us. Let the privileged do the hard work for a change." The guard spoke, everyone agreed with him, Madelyn didn't say anything just wanting her opinions for herself.

"You're not listening. We all need to go." Wells spoke, he was the chancellors son, that's why everyone there hated him, because they hated his father.

"Look at this, everybody-- the chancellor of earth." A guy spoke as he stepped forward pushing Wells back.

"Think that's funny?" Wells fired back, which only got him landing on his ass as the guy pushed him again only harder, the blonde tried to step forward but was held back.

"No, but that was." The guy said, then Wells got back up again.

"All right." They guy said as both he and Wells got ready to fight.

But that stopped quickly as a guy come down from the drop ship, Madelyn took a step back from confusion as to where he just came from.

"Kid has got one leg. How about you wait until it's a fair fight?" The guy said, he did have a point Madelyn thought to herself.

"Hey, spacewalker, rescue me next." The brunette girl said as she stepped forward, laughter was heard as everyone laughed at what she had said.

"I am done following orders. I need to have fun, Bell. I need to just do something crazy just because I can, and no one, including you, is gonna stop me." The brunette spoke as Madelyn walked by.

"I will do something crazy with you." Madelyn suggested, both of the people who's conversation she had just walked into.

"Right, this is your conversation, I'll just leave." She said as she started walking away, but didn't get to far as a hand grabbed a hold of her arm and pulled her back, she followed the hand up tp the persons face, it was the girl who had pulled her back.

"Please do something crazy with me, I need that." The girl spoke, Madelyn smiled slightly as she made yet another friend or so she felt like.

"I can't stay with them, O." The guy spoke going back to their conversation, Madelyn then decided to walk away and just make a mental note to do something absolutely nuts with the brunette girl, as she looked around thinking of something they could do.

"Hey! You wanna come with us to look for the Mountain place or whatever?" The brunette asked as she walked over to Madelyn.

"Yeah, sure." The girl said.

"I didn't get you name, I'm Octavia." The girl said as they walked over to the others who were going.

"I'm Madelyn." She answered as she smiled at Octavia.

"Nice." Octavia said as she smiled back.

"Before you get any ideas, Finn is mine." Octavia said she the two caught up with the blonde.

"Before you get any ideas, I don't care." The blonde replied.

"Now, that, my friend, is game." Jasper spoke as Finn put a little purple flower behind Octavias ear.

"That, my friend, is poison sumac." Mothy spoke up.

"What? It is?" Octavia asked as she hurried to take the flower out of her hair.

"The flowers aren't poisonous. They're medicinal, calming, actually." Monthy explained, Finn looked back at him in confusion as to how he knew that.

"His family grows all the pharmaceuticals on the ark." Jasper explained.

"Hmm really?" Madelyn asked joining the conversation, Jasper gave her a nod as an answer.

"Hey, guys, would you try to keep up?" Clarke spoke, kind of ruining the mood.

"Come on, Clarke. How do you block all this out?" Finn asked, Madelyn agreed, it was all so beautiful, it's everything and more than what she had imagined, she never wanted this to go away.

"Well, it's simple. I wonder 'why haven't we seen any animals?" Clarke spoke, she had a point but who cared, it was beautiful and they had a much bigger thing to focus on at the moment.

"Maybe it's because there are none. Maybe we've already been exposed to enough radiation to kill us. Sure is pretty though. Come on."

"Someone should slip her some poison sumac." Octavia spoke, Madelyn let out a loud laugh that made Clarke turn around to face the group, Madelyn immediately shut her mouth and kept a straight face, when Clarke turned back again Madelyn let out another laugh, just not as loud.

"I got to know what you two did to get busted." Finn spoke talking about Jasper and Monty

"Sumac is not the only herb in the garden, if you know what I mean." Monthy spoke.

"Someone forgot to replace what we took." jasper said, Madelyn couldn't help but chuckle at their mini argument.

"Someone has apologized, like, 1,000 times." Monthy then replied softly hitting the girl beside him who chuckled once again.

"How about you, Madelyn? What did someone so young do?" Jasper asked, the girl.

"I don't wanna talk about it." She spoke avoiding the question she hated the answer too the most, truth is her father was a killer, a serial killer if you will, he went around in a stupid costume from this franchise of movies that used to exist called "Scream" the killer in these movies wore this costume they called "ghost face" So her farther was basically the ghost face of the ark, Madelyn made a mistake once, she lost her temper, let her emotions get to her in a argument that turned into a fight.

And she just couldn't stop, she kept hitting, and hitting and hitting the poor girl, well the girl had started the whole thing by talking shit about Madelyn and her family and Madelyn simply just lost it, the girl deserved it, but Madelyn still felt bad since she had once promised herself to never turn out like him.

That's how Madelyn Walton got locked up, because people were afraid after that fight, afraid that one day she'd become just like her father.

Madelyn had left the three others and walked over to Clarke, Octavia followed shortly after and then the others.

As the group was bent down Clarke pointed something out, Madelyn followed where she was pointing and there was a deer, a smile appeared slowly on Madelyns face, she had dreamt of seeing an animal in real life.

"No animal, huh?" Finn spoke up.

As Finn moved forward, a twig snapped beneath his feet, the deer moved it's head toward where the sound came from, Madelyn flinched back at the sight, she had not expected the deer to have two heads. The deer then ran away leaving the group in shock.

"Hey, you know what I'd like to know? Why send us down today after 97 years? What changed?" Finn asked breaking the silence, the group had moved on from where they saw the deer and began moving toward their destination again.

"Who cares? I'm just glad they did. I woke up rotting in a cell, and now I'm spinning in a forest." Octavia answered spinning around a tree.

"And it is absolutely amazing!" Madelyn said in a sing song voice also spinning around a tree but with a little jump.

"Maybe they found something on a satellite, you know, like an old weather satellite or--" Monthy spoke before he was interrupted by Clarke.

"It wasn't a satellite. The Ark is dying." Clarke spoke as everybody stopped and turned around to face her, but she just kept walking and talking.

"At the current population level, there's roughly 3 months left of life support, maybe 4 now that we're gone." Clarke spoke as she was now in the front, the rest following after.

"geez what a way to kill the good mood." Madelyn mumbled, Jasper chuckled beside her and she gave him a smile.

"So that was the secret they locked you up to keep, why they kept you in solitary, floated your old man?" Finn asked, Madelyn's eyes widened. Why the fuck would he just throw her fathers death in her face like that?

"My father was the engineer who discovered the flaw. He thought the people had a right to know. The council disagreed. My mother disagreed. They were afraid it would cause a panic. We were gonna go public, anyway, when Wells--" Clarke started ranting but her sentence trailed off.

"What, turned in your dad?" Finn asked, Madelyn's face was now one of sympathy, having your best friends go against you and get your father killed was something Madelyn could only imagine, she never had a friend or a dad really, but still, it must've sucked.

"Anyway, the guard showed up before we could. That's why today. That's why it was worth the risk. Even if we all die, at least they bought themselves more time." Clarke explained. "Such bitches." Madelyn said, Octavia nodding along.

"They're gonna kill more people, aren't they?" Monty asked, they took Clarke's silence as a yes. "Good. After what they did to me, I say, float them all." Octavia said as she jumped down from the little hill and walked in front.

"I love you, Octavia." Madelyn said as she ran to catch up to Octavia, followed shortly by Jasper. "You don't mean that."

"Damn, I love earth." Jasper spoke as they others came to a stop beside him, Madelyn was sitting on the edge of the little cliff as Octavia took of her clothes.

When Madelyn saw what Octavia's plan was the took off her jacket and pants too and stood beside Octavia who took the girls hand in hers.

"Octavia! Madelyn! What the hell are you doing?" They heard Clarke yell, Octavia just smiled back to them before she squeezed Madelyn's hand and the two jumped over the edge and into the water, Madelyn squealed as they jumped.

"Octavia, Madelyn.. We can't swim." Monty yelled when the two resurfaced. "No, but we can stand." Octavia laughed as her and Madelyn stood up so their upper bodies were above water, or well most of Madelyn's anyway.

"Wait, there's not supposed to be a river here." Clarke said as she furrowed her brows, Madelyn shook her head and ducked back under the water, she stayed there for as long as she could hold her breath, just enjoying the feeling, when you were locked up alone for a while, you get used to the quiet, so being under the water blocked out the sound, the quiet combined with the feeling of floating was amazing.

Madelyn jumped up to the surface when she felt someone go past her really fast, she saw Octavia being pulled under the water by something, when she resurfaced again she was screamed, the others were yelling and trying to distract it, Jasper jumped in after Octavia when it let her go.

"Madelyn, come here now!" They yelled to the girl, Madelyn made her way over to the group, but struggled a bit when the water got deeper, she was almost at the shore when she was pulled under the water, she screamed but no sound was heard as she was under the water, the thing that took ahold of Octavia's leg was now biting into the side of Madelyn's stomach.

she did the only thing she could think of and grabbed the closest stone, she hit the creature with the rock over and over again, her hits got weaker and weaker as she couldn't hold her breath any longer, the last thing she could remember before sleep took over, was someone was pulling her out of the water, feeling someone's arms hooked around her waist.

Cameron had followed the group when they walked off and had been walking in silence behind them, hiding, he hadn't hesitated a second when he noticed Madelyn had passed out.

It was currently night, he was sitting beside Madelyn who was still passed out, Clarke and Finn had walked off but was now walking back to the sleeping group.

"She still out?" Finn asked Cameron, he looked up to Finn and Clarke and nodded, Clarke walked closer and took a look at the wound. "She'll be okay. It's just the combination of the blood lost and lack of air, she should wake up soon. Might have to prepare yourself to carry her back to camp though." Clarke joked which brought a smile to Cameron's face.

"She should wake up in the morning just like everybody else." Clarke then said as she stood back up and everyone went back to sleep.

"Come on, Madelyn get down! You shouldn't be doing this! You're still injured!" Clarke yelled as Madelyn stood with the rope in her hand insisting to be the first to go over. "We're all going over anyways!" Madelyn yelled back, Clarke rolled her eyes with a smile, Madelyn smiled back and began running forward with the rope in her hand, Finn rand after and reached a hand out to stop her, she had no idea what to do anyways.

Due to Finn almost getting a hold of it, Madelyn lost her grip but she was already In the air, Madelyn fell and landed back into the water, when she got back up to the surface the glared at Finn, everyone was standing there laughing at her.

"Seriously? I just got dry!" Madelyn complained, she made her way to the edge where Cameron was stood with a hand out for to take, which she did and she got back up and was drenched, they both looked up as they heard cheering, Jasper was swining across and landed on the other side.

When they realized he was okay he turned toward them. "We are apogee!" He yelled and everyone on the other side cheered him on.

The cheering and fun was short lived, Madelyn stood cheering Clarke on as she was next when Jasper held up a sign that read mount weather, just a second later a spear came flying through the air and hit jasper, panic broke loose and they hid behind the stones and looked around for whoever did it.

"We're not alone."

Omg! I love the first episode so much, just the pure happiness these kids were feeling before the ending of course :(

I really hope that this was alright for a first chapter, I know I'm not the best write, but I write for fun and because I get new ideas all the time.

Anyway I hope this was alright because I suck at writing first chapters, I also hate it, I love writing anything but first chapters, pretty much the first few chapters really, sometimes I just want to skip all introductions and get to the good parts, but unfortunately I can't do that.
