From the middle of the most peaceful sleep I was brought sharply into reality by a noisy sound. "Ugh! Stupid alarm." I reaching with my weak arm and I shut it down. I rub my eyes with my fingers and stretch my muscles before getting out of the most comfortable bed I could have ever slept in.

As my brain starts to wake up, fear and anxiety take control over me. From now on, I have to serve him. Just at the thought shivers electrify my skin.

Am I scared of him? Yes.

Should I not be? No.

A knock at the door brings me back to reality. "Evelyn? Are you up"  Mary's sweet voice warms my heart and relaxes my mind.

"Yes! Give me ten more minutes and I'm ready." I shout.

"Okay, dear. You will find me in the kitchen." She says, before heading her steps walk away.

Her kindness will always be an enigma to be. How can she be so happy in this place? I know for sure that in a couple of years I will become so crazy that, at her age, I will be locked in some mental institution.

Once I have brushed my hair and my ponytail, I drag myself towards the kitchen. The beauty of every inch of the Palace slows my steps. I take time to admire the richness and splendor of it one more time. God only knows how much every centimeter of the Palace is worth. Maybe he has no clue either.

I decide to move my ass faster, before Mary will call me again. As my feet reach its entrance, my jaw drops down in shock, again. It is the biggest kitchen that could ever exist in his Planet: I step on the shiny black marble and a bright light from the big window in front of me blinds my pupils. A big square table is placed in the middle of the kitchen, decorated by all kind of fruits.

"Here you are", Mary turns around with a big smile on her face, "let's start. You need to learn a lot, dear." She claims, rubbing her pockets, in search of something. "These are all the rules you must follow if you want to survive here with him." Her serious tone scares me to the point I almost fall down on my knees.

Suddenly, she burst out laughing, "oh dear, I was just kidding. You should have seen your face." She continues to laugh and, being so contagious, I join her.

"I was about to faint." I exclaim, in relief.

"I could see that. Don't worry dear, you're safe," she stops, replacing her charming smile with a worried one, "however, don't make him angry, he can be terrifying, especially to you young lady."

"What - what can he possibly do to me?" I ask, trembling.

"Oh, nothing. But after all these years I have learned one thing: he's unpredictable." She moves her gaze to the floor.

"C'mon, let's go back to work. Now, take this piece of paper and memorize every single word. Understood?" She asks, with her smile back on her lips.

"Yes." I stare at the long paper full of rules. How can there be so many for just one person?

Well, he is not just one person, I suppose.

I put the piece of paper on my pocket. "How can I help you?"

"Don't worry, dear. I can handle cooking alone, as I've always done." She claims, taking a couple of carrots from the fridge and starting to cut them. "Why don't you start cleaning the rooms?"

"Sure." I start walking towards the stairs, but a question crosses my mind, "where can I find the cleaning stuff?"

"Oh, right. You can find everything you need in the white room, on the corner, right at your left." She explains, still concentrated on cutting the vegetables.

"Thank you, Mary." I say, before drugging my body to work.

As I follow Mary's instructions, I find myself in the front of a white closed door. Sure it was unlocked, I pull the grip and push my body against it hardly, and hitting my head against the door. "Ugh! Fuck!" I swear, loudly, massaging my head.

Why do I have to be so dumb?

Since the door is closed and I don't want to bother Mary again, I decide to go upstairs and try to find something to clean the rooms. I walk the stairs rapidly. Once I reach the long and empty corridor, I find myself in front of several black doors. Everything in this Palace is an enigma. From the architecture to the people living inside it.

Before starting to clean each room, It is better for me to memorize each room and know what there is inside each door, right?

I start from the first one on my left. There are more that fifty rooms for sure, so it will take me ages to memorize each one, but the curiosity to know is so immense that I am sure I will never feel tired about it.

As I open it, darkness appears in front of me, obscuring not only my eyes, but my mind too. I lean my arm to the wall, in search of the switch. Once I feel something similar to it, I press the button with my fingers and several white lights start to illuminate the room one by one, giving life to objects in the room.

If richness could be represented, this room is for sure the right image. Golden in every inch of the room covers walls, wardrobes and.. floor, too. I look at my feet pressed on the yellow lighted floor and I suddenly feel guilty for stepping with my dirty shoes in such preciousness.

My wide eyes roam around the room rapidly, astonished everything surrounding me. The wardrobes are full of pictures and paints. I get closer, always careful not to damage the floor, able to receive more information from them. All pictures are in black and white. Each of them is in assemblies, in groups or in family, but never alone.

Except for one photo. Right in the middle of the rest of them there is a bigger photo, showing just one person: a child. A boy. His dark eyes dig in my opposite ones, and, suddenly, a sense of fear and anxiety travels my body. How can I  be scary? Children are innocents and always happy. But this child shows sadness and.. hate.

The more I stare at the picture, the more I notice familiar features. Dark eyes, black hair, controlled and powerful attitude from the posture..

I suddenly see I new figure appear from the glass reflection, identical to the child's. The only difference is that it is more mature and.. not a picture.

"You better give me a good explanation why I shouldn't kill you right now."
