-Chapter 63-

What?

I looked down at Syn and felt my heart shatter in my chest. I could deal with everyone else not believing me, but I needed him on my side. "Syn-"

"Now." He had a faraway look on his face as he untangled his arms from my waist. His eyes were avoiding mine, and I tried my best to hold back tears. This right here would be the second time that Syn was believing someone else over me. Did everyone think so low of me to believe that I'd lie about so much shit?

His eyes slowly moved back to mine in a silent yet deadly request, and my lips quivered. I got off of him, standing up on wobbly legs and stepping aside to wrap my arms around myself. No matter what, I would not be crying in front of anyone here tonight.

"Good for you to realize she's no good now, Syn," Xyla said, shaking her head as she gave me a disappointed look. "I love my sister...but something isn't right up there."

Seriously?

Syn stood up from his chair, his eyes remaining on me as he did. He side stepped me, his breath skimming my face and I gritted my teeth to keep silent. The only thing that would come out if I tried to say anything, was a sob. He tucked one hand into his pocket and walked a couple of steps backward before turning his back to me.

He strode the length of the table before stopping right behind Felix, making the room freeze in anticipation. Felix scoffed and stood up in challenge to face him with a small smirk on his face. "What? You can't stand the truth, huh?" He sighed. "You should've known, Syn. Nobody chooses you, and that's the truth of your pitiful existence-"

As if the entire room moved in slow motion, we watched as Syn lifted Felix off of his feet by the collar of his shirt and slammed him into the table. Screams from the staff sounded and chairs screeched backward as the table broke. The glasses and dishes slid and crashed onto the floor, and everyone watched in shock.

"Syn, don't," Genesis screamed, running around the table to him.

He flicked his two fingers into the air and sent her flying into an empty chair. With another snap of his fingers, her mouth was shut together and her body was stuck to the chair. Her cries were muffled and all of her attempts to get off the chair were to no avail. "You've always stopped these fights, mother." He sighed, shaking his head at her. "I think it's time for us to end this once and for all though, don't you think?" He looked down at Felix who was groaning and coughing up blood.

"Do it." He smiled up at him, his teeth a blood red as the wildness in his eyes stared up at Syn.

Syn's fist connected with his face multiple times, making bone crushing sounds echo in the room. "I can't watch this," Jess mumbled with a hand over her mouth. She turned to her side, making a gagging noise and within a second, she threw up all over Nate.

"What the fuck!" He screamed at her, shoving her away from him. She stumbled backward at his touch and I ran towards her. My arms wrapped around her, catching her yet sending us both falling to the ground. My head hit the edge of the table as I broke her fall and a pain shot through my ankle.

I winced as my vision blurred and an ache began making my head pound. "Oh no, are you okay?" Jess asked me, getting herself up.

"Yeah." I turned to my side to see Nate being plummeted into the ground by Xavier.

When Jess saw the scene, she ran to them instead of helping me stand up and I scoffed. Her hands clawed at Xavier to get him off of Nate as her wild screams made my head pain even more. I closed my eyes and took deep breaths to calm myself, but they fluttered open when I felt a hand on my arm. "Are you okay?" Cleo asked, her hand reaching for my head. "You're bleeding."

Worry about myself was the last thing on my mind and I turned to Syn who was breaking a leg of a chair. He held it over Felix's body on the broken table and Xyla screamed, seeming untouched even though everything was in utter chaos.

A gunshot sounded in the room making everyone jump, halting their movements and turn to the shooter. We all saw Caspian standing on a chair in the room and he shook his head as he looked down at us. He tossed the gun to the side and jumped off of the chair.

"You." He walked towards Jess, pulling her off of Xavier by her hair and making her scream out in pain. "You're a fucking idiot." He let her go roughly and helped Xavier up. When he was standing, he adjusted his tie and looked into his eyes. "Tell me you're done with her. Right now."

"What?" Xavier asked lowly in confusion. Caspian tilted his head in Jess's direction. Xavier's eyes scanned hers as he turned to her, and what looked like realization began to set into his eyes. He looked down at Nate and sighed before looking at Caspian. "I'm done."

He nodded, sending Xavier a half smile before swiveling around and walking towards Syn who was still consumed in his rage. He grabbed Syn's jacket, pulling him off of Felix, and shoved him away. "Now you."

"This has nothing to do with you," Syn roared as he held the pointed end of the wooden leg out. "Move."

"Okay," Caspian nodded. "I will in a second, but I need to do one thing." Syn gave him a confused look, letting his guard drop a bit and leaving room for Caspian to give him one of the meanest right hooks I had ever seen. It didn't budge Syn, but his head was shot to the side as shock riddled everyone in the room. His finger moved to his bloody lip as he gave Caspian a grave look and stepped towards him.

"No." I tried to move to stop the fight that was about to break out and perhaps save Xavier any further embarrassment tonight, but Cleo stopped me.

"He's got this," she assured me, making me turn back to the two men. What did she mean? Caspian looked like he could hold his own, but this was Syn we were talking about. He was no match for him, especially if we were basing things on physique. Syn looked like he could break him if he slapped him on the back.

Syn balled his fists and moved to swing at him, but Caspian swiftly avoided the punch, making Syn scoff in irritation. "Don't punch me, mate. I'm only trying to help you."

"I don't need your fucking help," Syn seethed.

"Umm yea, I think that you might." He punched Syn square in the face again and my mouth dropped. Syn spit the blood in his mouth to the floor and Caspian shook his hand. "Fucking hell you have a strong face."

"You're dead," Syn roared.

"Wait! Wait!" Caspian yelled as he held his hand in the air. "One more thing."

"I'll break your fingers before you get the chance to punch me again," Syn said, walking towards him with intention.

"I'm not going to punch you, man. I just needed you to snap out of it because you're not seeing things."

"I'm seeing everything I need to see."

"Is that so?" Caspian asked, dropping his hands and standing up straight. "Your girlfriend was hurt and you were so caught up in your madness that you didn't see it."

"What?" Syn whispered, his gaze softening. His attention shifted to me and his eyes widened as he took in my injuries. I averted my eyes from him, not sure what to say or feel anymore and he moved to come to me. He was stopped with Caspian grabbing his arm and sighing.

"Not right now," he told him. "She doesn't want you right now, and you are still not in your right mind."

"You're annoying as fuck," Syn snapped at him. "Let go."

"If she looks at you in the next five seconds, then I'll let you go to her."

"Let me?" Syn questioned in annoyance. "She's my girlfriend."

"Five," Caspian started. I kept my eyes straight ahead at the empty space in front of me and Cleo squeezed my hand. I loved Syn, but I hated seeing him so out of control like this.

It scared me.

I was glad he believed me instead of Felix, but this wasn't the way to go about it. I didn't want my birthday to go this way at all, and we had both agreed to return the ring at a time convenient for both of us. Not only did he completely abandon our consensus, but he did it in front of everyone at a time that made him feel better.

"Four," Caspian counted down.

"Queen," Syn whispered. I could almost hear the desperation in his voice for me to lift my head, and that shocked me. He'd spoken to me in so many different ways, but never in distress like this...

I slightly moved my head to look up at him and end this once and for all- to just go home with him, but a tight squeeze in my hand made me turn my focus to Cleo. Her eyes fought with mine and she shook her head ever so slightly. If she wasn't this close to me I wouldn't have caught it. Her eyes willed mine to remain on hers as Caspian continued to count down and I held back tears.

"One." Caspian sighed. "Let's go, man. Cleo,
will you-"

"I got her," she said, giving me a comforting smile. Their footsteps retreated as Caspian ushered him out to the patio, and when they were gone, the gravity of what just took place began to set in. "Okay babe," Cleo whispered. "I'm going to heal these for you."

"Why did you stop me?" I asked weakly.

She sighed, her eyes dropping down to her lap. "Cas and I...we've been through a lot in the past- especially with his anger. It was in a time in our lives when we had no idea what we were doing, and we made a lot of mistakes. He knows better than anyone what can happen when you let yourself get out of control like that- like Syn just did," she said.

"I couldn't let you look because nothing would have changed. It would have escalated one day, and I would hate to see you in that type of situation. Sometimes the best thing to do is take some space away and at least this way, Cas can knock some sense into him." She laughed softly and I smiled at her. "I'm sure the two of you will be okay, though. You should see the way he looks at you when you're not looking. If I could show you, I'm sure it'd erase a lot of the doubts in your head about him right now."

The way he looks at me?

"Anyways, let me fix you up, girl," she smiled, raising a hand to my head as a glimmering blue light flowed from her fingers. "You better not pass out though. I came here for dinner, and I'll be damned if I have to carry a girl out of here instead of my leftovers."

I giggled, abruptly stopping as my head ached and she gave me a warning look. "Don't get too happy. I dropped out of school so I may be healing you or turning you into a vegetable." I gave her a frightened look, slightly moving away from her and she gave me a nervous smile.

"Kidding..."

Right.
