-Chapter 137-

As horrible as it sounded, I never thought a day like this would come. My heart was practically close to exploding and every time I looked at Syn standing and waiting for Queen, I felt a wave of emotions passing through me. The music changed as did the atmosphere in the room, and we all turned to the door to see Queen coming down the aisle.

I couldn't stop the tears from falling and I turned to Lucifer to see him smiling at me. I smiled back at him and we both looked at Syn who was looking at Queen. I remember being so nervous about the type of person he'd grow up to be, but looking back at those feelings of regret, I couldn't imagine feeling them again.

I looked back at Queen and she looked like a dark princess, but it was perfectly suited to Syn's personality. Fitting to her appearance, Lucifer told me about how Syn called her 'Princess' for some reason he didn't know, and I smiled to myself. Only Syn and I knew why, but that would be a secret that remained between us.

I laid next to Syn and read him the third fairytale for the night. I didn't truly think he'd be into this but to my surprise, he kept asking me to read to him. Denying his request would never be something I'd do. He usually didn't like anyone holding him or speaking to him for that matter, so this felt nice.

"One more," he said in a small voice.

"That'll be the fourth one," I said with a smile as I looked down at him. "You're not tired?"

"I don't sleep," he said. I frowned as I pushed his black hair out of his small face. He had trouble sleeping ever since he was a baby, but I hoped it'd be gone by now.

The door opened and Felix grinned as he hopped onto the bed with us. "Synny!" He yelled happily as he jumped on top of him.

Syn remained quiet as his brother began ranting about his day and I turned to Felix. "Here, let's read."

Felix snuggled into my other side while Syn kept his distance and I laughed to myself. Their differences always seemed to baffle me.

I picked up another book from the nightstand and held it in my hands. "What's that one, mommy?" Syn asked.

I flipped the book over and he squinted his eyes as he slowly read it. "The Prince's Bride." He furrowed his brows but positioned himself to listen carefully.

I spent the next twenty minutes reading the story and Felix looked like he was about to fall asleep while Syn looked actively interested. He was asking thought-provoking questions throughout the story that even I couldn't even answer. "...and the Prince and Princess lived happily ever after."

Felix clapped and yawned from beside me. "When I grow up I'm going to have the most beautiful Princess in the world," he mumbled tiredly.

"Hopefully she'll be beautiful then," I said with a smile.

"Will I have a Princess too?" Syn asked.

Felix laughed. "You need to love to have one."

"Felix, that's not very nice," I warned.

"Sorry, Synny," he muttered.

I looked back at Syn who looked deep in thought. I didn't understand what could run through a six-year-old's mind that made him so inquisitive, but I tapped on his cheek and he looked back at me.

"You'll have one," I said hopefully.

"What will her name be?" He questioned. "So I can know when she's here."

"Truthfully, I have no idea," I replied. He looked downcast and nodded, and I pursed my lips, tilting his small chin back up. "But we can choose a name for her until we meet her. We can call her..." I searched my mind for a name.

"Princess?" He offered, pointing to the cartoon drawing in the book.

"That's fitting," I said with a laugh and he nodded in response.

"Don't you wish for her to be beautiful?" Felix asked in a sleepy voice.

"I wish for her to be like mom."

"Like me?" I asked in surprise.

Syn nodded and looked at me. "I want her to be kind, like you."

I was stunned into silence at his words and I felt tears about to surface. He'd never said something like that to me before and I was beyond happy at his words.

"Well then hopefully...your Princess will be kind."

And she was. I wiped my tears and tapped my leg to stop from breaking down. Looking at both of my sons I guess they both got what they wanted in the end. Felix got someone beautiful and Syn got someone like me.

Cain helped Queen up the aisle and passed her hand to Syn. "Take care of her or I'll kill you," he said in a sweet tone. The seated crowd laughed and I laughed along with them. Lucifer and I had no idea Cain was back but to my surprise, Lucifer and he had a good relationship. With him being Adam's son I would've thought there would be tension, but there was none at all. They actually hugged when we saw him.

We all moved to our seats as Julius instructed us to do when Queen arrived. I watched as Syn removed Queen's veil and smiled down at her and my breath caught once again. Lucifer wrapped an arm around me and kissed my neck. "Calm down, baby."

His words did almost nothing to me and I was still an emotional wreck. Julius had chosen a traditional wedding to show a good image to the kingdom so there was a warlock standing between Syn and Queen to officiate the wedding.

"Dear friends and families, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of Syn SinClaire and Queen Beverly. With love and commitment they stand before you today to bind their souls eternally and dedicate themselves to one another as husband and wife," the old man said.

"Let us begin with the binding ceremony," he said. A shorter man passed him a small knife and he took it into his hands. Binding ceremonies were rather quick. Lucifer and I did it a few years ago and I never regretted it. I didn't know how different it would be for Syn and Queen though.

"With this spell, you shall never be parted. No matter the distance, you will forever be next to one another," he said. "Please lay your hands out."

He cut each of their palms and we watched as a small amount of blood dripped onto the floor. "Join hands and repeat after me." They did as he instructed and looked each other in the eye. "Fac animabus nostris qui."

Syn and Queen repeated his words completely and they continued. A phone buzzing phone beside me made me turn to Xavier. He sent me a sympathetic look and I gawked at him. "You're answering your phone right now?" I asked.

Tears were streaming down his face, but he nodded. "It's from Hell. It might be important." He picked up the phone and a few moments later I watched as his face dropped. His jaw clenched and he ran his hand down his face. "Oh, fuck," he whispered. He put his phone down after a few seconds and leaned over me.

"Lucifer," he called in a hushed tone. Lucifer turned to him in confusion and Xavier shook his head. "Lilith gave us a fake gun."

Lucifer's eyes widened and became red. "Are you fucking serious?"

"Yes, I got a call from Hell. Emanuel studied the gun and he noticed that it's not the same one," Xavier said.

Lucifer told me about the gun and what happened with Lilith after I pushed him, but I wasn't as worried. What could a gun do? Sure, it'd wound them, but that's all. Lucifer assured me everything would be okay, so I didn't understand the panic.

"What do we do?" Xavier asked.

"We need to stop the binding," Lucifer said.

I looked back up at Syn and Queen whose hands were clasped and glowing. "It's a little too late," I pointed out. Lucifer groaned from beside me and ran his hand through his hair.

"I'm going to fucking murder Lilith," he said.

"Hey," I said to him. "We'll deal with it after the wedding." I had plenty of questions for him but right now wasn't the time.

Everyone began clapping and I looked back up to see the warlock put the knife away. "Let's begin the wedding ceremony, shall we?"

The crowd cheered and the warlock continued. "Syn and Queen, today you choose each other before your friends and family, to begin your life together. For all the tomorrows that follow, you will choose one another again and again, in the privacy of your hearts. Let your love and friendship guide you, as you learn and grow together," he said.

After all my wedding research for no reason, I was able to recite every word of his speech. Xavier cried next to me and I held his hand in mine.

"Experience the wonders of the world, even as patience and wisdom calm the restless nature. Through your new partnership, may you triumph over the challenges in your path. Through the comfort of loving arms, may you always find a safe place to call home. You may now read your vows," he finished.

Queen hadn't prepared vows so I was worried for her, but I had faith in her. She loved him. The officiant looked to her to go first and she nodded, turning towards Syn.

"Wow. Umm, I never thought we'd be here, to be honest." The crowd laughed and she turned to them. "I didn't mean it like that," she said with a small laugh. She looked back to Syn and took a deep breath. "In the short time I've known you, my life has completely changed. I never thought that I'd find someone who loved me the way that you do. Someone who accepts me as completely as you do," she said as her voice broke. I cried along with her as she turned back to the crowd. "I'm bad at this, I'm sorry."

We all laughed once again and Syn took her hands in his. As if that gave her the strength to continue she took a deep breath. "Everything in me, whether good or bad, recognizes you as the love of my life. I'll be by your side through good times and bad times for as long as I'm alive. Thank you for more than loving me when I couldn't do it myself. I-," she turned to the rest of us and shook her head. "I'm going to end it there before I cry again."

I never saw Queen as a comedian, but I just couldn't stop laughing. Perhaps my nerves played a great part in that. The warlock turned to Syn and he reached into his pocket and unfolded a piece of paper.

"Umm, this seems pretty long now that I'm looking at it," he said. He was startled when all of us laughed, but he put the letter away and turned to Queen. "You can read it later. I'm just going to talk."

"Damnit, we worked hard on that," Xavier muttered.

"I'm sure he's still thankful," I said.

"Queen. I'm not going to stand here and say that before I met you I was some shell of a man because that's not true. I was what everyone thought I was. The rumors about me shaped me into the man I became. I was the monster because everyone wanted me to be. I was heartless because everyone said I was, but then I met you. You came to me without any expectations...well, for the most part," Syn joked.

Queen laughed and he smiled down at her. "But for the first time, I was able to be the man I wanted to be, with you. Somehow you managed to slip into a crack in my walls and plant yourself into my soul. No one managed to do that except, well we all know who. He makes it very known," he said as he glanced at Xavier.

"That's damn right," Xavier cried next to me.

"You, Princess, on a daily basis, make me less of a shitty person and for that, my family and this kingdom thanks you." The room erupted into the loudest laughter it's had and I shook my head at Syn. I was so proud of him.

"You're my everything. I'd call you my best friend, but I'm afraid that title is taken," he said. Xavier looked around and pointed to himself and Syn shook his head. "So I gave you another one. My Princess, my Queen, and my wife. I'll more than love you until my last dying breath and beyond."

We all clapped and the warlock even wiped a tear from his eyes. "Do you Queen Beverly, take Syn SinClaire-"

"I do," She said quickly.

"Well okay," he said. He turned to Syn and opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted again.

"I do."

"Alright then, let's bring out the rings," he said cheerfully.

We all turned to the doors to see James and Ethan walking together with the rings. The room echoed with "awws" and chatter about how adorable they were and I smiled at them. They made it to the end of the aisle and Syn thanked them, taking the rings from their hands. As soon as they handed them off they ran back down the aisle and out of the room.

"Repeat after me," the warlock spoke. "With this ring, I wed thee." They repeated as he instructed and after a long few minutes, they were done with the ring exchange. I forgot how long weddings were, but I enjoyed every minute of this one.

The warlock clapped his hands together and looked at the crowd. "For any of you who contest this union. Speak now, or forever hold your peace."

I looked at Queen's father, but he remained silent in his seat. My eyes then drifted to where Xyla and Felix were supposed to be, but their seats were empty, making a deep frown appear on my face. I knew they were upset, but I didn't think they'd not show up.

"Well then, with the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may-" Queen and Syn kissed before he could finish and we all cheered out loud. The hooting and hollering of the crowd was a festive one I never thought I'd hear from the citizens of Jeradua again, but it made my heart swell.

The happiness in the room was quickly replaced with fear as the crowd began screaming. I looked around frantically with Lucifer and Xavier, but saw nothing.

None of us knew what was truly going on, but the room had transcended into chaos. The only noise we could truly make out was the sound of a single gunshot.

A gut-wrenching scream from beside me made me turn back to Syn and Queen. What I saw made my heart drop and I ran towards them. "No!"
