-Chapter 134-

My heart broke at his words and I looked at him as he shook his head quickly. He took my hands into his and looked at me pleadingly. "I don't love you," he said again. He seemed taken aback by his words as he cursed under his breath.

"Wow," I said. I was hurt but I couldn't be upset at him. I just told him I didn't love him either for some reason.

"Wow," Eve spoke up. "Maybe you both shouldn't be getting married if you don't love one another."

I looked down at my lap sadly and shook my head. Syn didn't love me? This was a truth spell...so he was telling the truth when he said that?

Mia tapped my shoulder and shook her head. "No, what about that more than love shit?" She asked quickly as she turned back to Eve. "You're trying to confuse us."

"I would never," Eve giggled.

"Then ask them if they more than love one another!" Mia commanded.

Eve's jaw clenched and she sat up in her seat. "I'm not doing that bullshit. Love, more than love...it's all the same," she snarled.

Mia turned to us in her seat and moved her hair behind her ears. "Queen, do you more than love Syn?"

I nodded. "I do."

She smiled sadly and turned to Syn. "You?"

"I do as well."

"Okay, problem solved," Mia said and sat back.

Eve laughed and observed us quietly. She tapped her pen against her chin and twirled her brown hair between her fingers. "This is actually pretty sad," she said. "If the two of you knew your future..." she stopped talking as she began giggling and I frowned.

Her being a Seer and talking about my future didn't sit right with me at all. It scared the hell out of me. "What's our future?" I asked.

"You," she said happily as she pointed at me. "You end up very very alone." She zipped her lips and threw an imaginary key in the air and I shook my head. "That's all I'm going to say."

"What do you mean alone?" I asked softly.

"Nothing," she said with a shrug. She looked at her watch and smiled. "They should be here soon."

I turned to Syn worriedly and he wrapped an arm around me. My plan seemed to be getting away from me with each passing second. I wanted to kill Eve, but we needed to see the Seers first. There were penalties to running from them and I couldn't risk that.

Eve was rambling about random things, but I closed my eyes and snuggled into Syn's hold. I was terrified for Xavia's life. I had no idea about the curriculum of which they decided how they'd murder a baby, and I was anxious. I wanted to give my daughter some type of warning but I wasn't sleeping anytime soon.

The room brightened suddenly and white light flooded it. Syn covered my eyes with one hand and a few moments later it disappeared and the room was back to normal. I blinked a few times and screamed when I saw four people in blue robes behind Eve.

She looked unfazed as she swiveled in her chair and my heart beat faster.

"Hello, Queen, Syn, Mia," she said sweetly as she looked between all of us. "My name is Mary, you may have heard of me."

"Hi," I whispered.

She smiled at me and turned to the rest of the robed people. "Introduce yourselves."

"Do I need an introduction?" One of the men spoke up.

"Ugh, not this pompous dick," Syn muttered with a groan.

"I wouldn't call me such vulgar words when the fate of your child lies in my hands, SinClaire."

"When the hell did you become a Seer? Do they just let anyone do that?" Syn asked. "Can I do it as well?"

"Oh father, imagine the son of Satan deciding the destiny of the universe. We'd be in turmoil," the man said. The men around him laughed and Mary shook her head.

"Oh please," Syn said with a scoff. I looked at him and frowned. I had never seen anyone get under his skin as much as the man in front of us. "Just do us all a favor and die again."

"I would be doing you a favor again, wouldn't I? Too bad the world is not worth dying for anymore," he said with a sigh.

"But I bet you'll do it immediately if daddy dearest asks you to," Syn replied smugly.

"Enough! The two of you are always bickering. We're here on serious matters," Mary said sternly. "Although you and Syn seem to be the best of friends, Mia and Queen don't know you."

"My name is Jesus of Nazareth," he said smoothly with a sigh. My eyes widened and I didn't know what to do. Was I supposed to get on my knees or bow? Those seemed like the right things to do but Syn would probably kill me. Not being able to choose what to do, I remained quiet.

Mary nodded at another man and he put his hands together and bowed. "My name is Moses."

"And I am Paul," the last man spoke up.

"We are the seers," Mary spoke up. "We have been gifted with the sight and we are responsible for maintaining the natural balance."

"Oh," I said. Oh? You're standing in front of the most powerful beings to ever exist and you say oh? I wanted to punch myself after the word left my mind but I held my hand in my lap.

"We need to meet the baby," Eve said. "We predict a shift and if we see that your baby will be the cause of this, we will need to wipe it from existence," she said confidently. When she noticed the eyes of her peers behind her she grimaced. "For the sake of the universe, of course."

I wrapped my arms around my stomach and shook my head. "You're going to kill my baby?" I asked worriedly.

Moses sighed and gave me a sympathetic smile. "We would never want to hurt any being. But for the sake of billions of lives, we need to be sure there is no danger ahead."

I nodded slowly in understanding and Paul stepped forward. "We will be fair and death will be the last resort. We can be trusted."

"How can we trust you when you're trying to hurt our kid?" Syn said.

"I'm afraid you don't have a choice, SinClaire. We must do our job," Jesus said. He turned to me and sighed. "Step forward, Queen."

Syn took my hand and looked at me. "Be careful," he looked back to the group and scowled at them. "If my daughter dies I will personally kill every single one of you."

"I hope you do not mean that," Mary said. "We mean no harm. Come, Queen."

I stood up slowly and with small steps, I made my way to them. Eve shot up from her seat and twisted my hair on her fingers. "This will be interesting," she said.

"We will be quick," Moses spoke up.

Jesus stepped toward me and I held my breath as he laid his fingers on my forehead. "Sleep, my child," he said. My eyes fluttered shut and I felt myself being lifted off the ground as I fell into a deep sleep.

I watched as Queen floated face up into the air and the Seers gathered around her. They each placed a hand on her stomach and the room became dark.

"This is all my fault," Mia said from beside me. I turned to her and scoffed. If she hadn't called Queen here, none of this would have happened. The only reason I hadn't killed her on the spot was that Queen asked me not to.

"Don't speak to me, Mia."

"I'm sorry," she muttered. She ultimately gave into my order and we stopped talking. The room remained eerily quiet as the Seers did their task. As the long minutes passed, the more uncomfortable I grew.

I made a threat that I would kill them if my daughter were to be killed, but I'd do more than that. I would destroy the world and everyone in it. Past me would've hated having something to lose and I still hated it. It pained me to think of the dangers the people I cared about would face because of me.

The room returned to its natural light and they gently lowered Queen to the floor. She remained asleep but the Seers turned to me. "Our premonitions were true, we need to take her," Mary said.

"No!" I immediately stood up. My magic wasn't working in here, but I wasn't going to let them take her without one hell of a fight.

"We don't usually do this," Mary said slowly as she looked around at the group. ", but I suppose there can be some sort of exchange."

"I don't agree with this," Eve argued.

"We voted," Paul replied to her.

"What exchange?" I asked.

"Your soul, in exchange for your daughter's," Jesus said with a smirk.

"I don't understand..."

"There needs to be a balance-"

"You've said it a hundred times now, I'm aware," I snapped.

Mary sighed and shook her head. "Let me finish. The previous balance was your father and Lilith. Lilith was one of Heaven's creatures before she fell and Lucifer became one of the Underworld's. Heaven and Hell were equal," she explained. "You and Queen are both predominantly creatures of Hell along with your daughter. That tips the scales completely and will eventually lead to the end of the world. We need one of your souls to become property of Heaven."

"I'll do it," I said quickly.

"Wouldn't you like to know what that entails?" Moses asked.

"I don't care. You can have whatever soul I have, just leave my family alone."

"It means that once you die, your soul will go to Heaven and we can use it as we please," he explained.

"That's fine," I said. I wasn't dying anytime soon anyway. We already dealt with the gun situation.

"Well okay then," Mary said. "We're done here."

Eve crossed her arms and looked at her angrily. "We need to kill them!"

"That is not our job," Paul hissed. "We are here to balance the scales. That is all."

Mary shook her head in Eve's direction. "I still don't understand why Father made you a Seer when you're so thirsty for blood."

"He made me one because of that," Eve argued. "You all are weak, I'm the one that's supposed to be logical and merciless."

Mary squinted her eyes and walked towards Eve. Eve stepped back nervously and I furrowed my brows. What is going on? "God would never do that. Where is he?" Mary asked Eve.

"Stop speaking, mother," Jesus warned.

Why would she be asking where God was? Wasn't he in Heaven? I thought long and put the pieces of the puzzle together and looked back at the group. Does Heaven not have a leader?

That would explain why my father and I had no interruptions of our plans yet. Usually, God would've found something out by now, but he was eerily quiet. In fact, all of heaven was quiet except for the "appointed" rulers.

"Let us leave," Mary said. She turned to me quickly and gave me a small smile. "I'll be seeing you soon."

Why?

Before I could vocalize my question, the room became bright once again and the robed Seers disappeared. I pushed through Eve who remained standing and crouched by Queen's side. "Princess," I said as I gently slapped her cheeks. "Wake up."

Her eyes fluttered open and she looked at me. I let out a sigh of relief that she was awake and kissed her on the lips. She smiled as I pulled away and I smiled back at her. "What happened?"

"They're letting us go," I said simply. I decided I wouldn't tell her the deal I made with them for my soul. It wasn't necessary and it would make her worry for no reason.

"The baby too?" She asked.

"Yes."

She let out a breath and laughed softly. "Just like that?"

"Just like that."

I helped Queen onto her feet and we looked at Eve who was scowling at us in disgust. "Well, I'm not as nice as they are and I don't feel like letting any of you live, quite frankly."

Queen laughed from beside me and stepped forward. "I don't feel like letting you live, either." Queen began chanting and the incantations on the walls faded away. Eve looked around worriedly and I held in the laugh that was threatening to erupt.

The door burst open a moment later and Cain walked in, his eyes landing on his mother as a scoff escaped his mouth. "Hello, mom," he said.

"Mom?!" Mia asked as she looked at Cain.

"Cain?" Eve spoke up.

"Eve?" Mia asked in confusion as her eyes landed on the woman.

"Mia?" Cain said as he looked at her.

"Cain," Mia said in shock.

"Cleo," Cleo said cheerfully from behind Cain. Everyone's eyes turned to her and she crossed her arms. "So you all see how dumb this is."

"I should've known you were the reason for all this," Cain said as he turned back to Eve.

"Why are you here? How are you here?" She ranted sadly. "My son..." she held her arms out to touch him and he stepped back.

"I am not your son!" Cain yelled.

Eve seemed to drop the act as her bitchy features returned and she looked at Cain emotionlessly. "How the fuck are you alive?"

Cain scoffed and laughed as he looked away from her. A moment later he turned back and lunged for her. He landed on her and they engaged in a small scuffle where of course Eve began to overpower him. We watched as she pulled a knife from her waistband and held it high. I rushed forward to stop her, but Queen snapped her fingers and she disappeared.

"I was handling that," Cain said as he turned to Queen.

"Look, I want her to die as much as you do, but we need time to make a plan. You can't just kill someone like that on a whim," she said.

He groaned, standing up as Xavier and Caspian walked in. I was relieved to see that Xavier was no longer hurt, and I took a deep breath. "Let's get out of here," I muttered. I walked to a nearby portal on the wall and created one back to the palace. Xavier along with Cleo and Caspian walked in and I turned to Queen who seemed to linger behind as she walked towards Mia.

"Are you going to come with us?" Queen asked.

"No," she said with a smile. "I don't think I'm ready, but you coming today means a lot to me. Even with everything that...you know."

Queen nodded and dropped her hands to her side. "Maybe we can watch a movie sometime?"

"That'd be nice," Mia replied. I rolled my eyes as Queen gave her a sweet smile and walked in my direction. I did not want nor need them to become best friends anytime soon.

I turned to Cain who hadn't moved to the portal and I saw his eyes on Mia. "Are you coming, Cain?" I asked.

"Umm... I'll meet the both of you at the palace," he said as his eyes lingered on her. He finally turned to me and I raised a brow. "...if that's alright."

Good fucking luck.

I shrugged and Queen waved at him. "See you later."

"Bye, sister."
